  1. Sure of course. Anyway, I'm not into overclocking, so I don't need to do all that. Although right now I'm concen on choosing the right Gigabyte model for my motherboard, especially on the function as well as which is needed, I also tend to be in a dilemmatic between Gigabyte motherboards that has "Ultra Durable 4" label or "Ultra Durable 5".

I kind of wonder what is IR3550 PowIRstage when I saw Ultra Durable 5, is that special chip meant for overclocking? All I'm looking for is anything to ensure it's power efficient, that includes I want to buy the latest Haswell processor (could have waited till Broadwell, but sadly, no thanks as my laptop is in bad condition) and if not the Nvidia 700 series, anything that has die shrink and also any programming of some sort that reduces power consumption, that I'm happy.

  2. Wow, that's a nice rig. But normally I still rather wait till Haswell comes out, can just wait till the next series comes out, I regret buying my laptop which uses the 1st Gen i7 processor but then in just 2 months later, 2nd Gen came out. So I'm not going to make the same mistake again, same case for Nvidia's GPU, gotta wait till 7xx comes out so I'll stick to Haswell's Iris chip first of course, then when 7xx in the mid-end scale comes out, I'm buying it, a possible Gigabyte GTX 750 with 2GB RAM should do nicely for me.

Speaking of your BF3 at 60fps, are you using only one GTX 660 Ti GPU or was it another one under SLI?

  3. Mario (couldn't finish it that time) on NES of course, wanted Gradius but just not as good as my father used to play, but today, I played all of the series on NES & SNES, sorry, no access to consoles but only PC emulators.

First PC game is obviously only the kids game, Humongous Entertainment was my favorite and even today I still play them, well, almost. Fatty Bear and also the famous Freddi Fish.

  4. So, I'm glad we didn't have a thread for this one.

Right now, I got my dibs for getting a new desktop in August due to the release of Haswell as well as Nvidia's 7xx series, if they get the middle-end GPUs on time to replace my current GTX 650 choice. I'll let it mix with Windows 8 as well BUT with the use of 3rd party software to bring back the Start Menu and also to ensure I don't see Metro ever again, but I too will look forward to Windows Blue or 8.1

    What are your thoughts?

  5. The secret for shows like Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Star Wars to why their fandoms never really fade is the size and longevity of the franchises themselves. Doctor Who originally ran for 26 seasons, and never truly ended in Britain where books and audio-dramas kept going; now with the series running again, it is more popular than ever. Star Trek is pretty much continuous, only having a real lull in the Seventies and a brief one from 2005 until 2009; heck first run Star Trek was on TV continuously from 1987 until 2005, that kind of franchise staying power guarantees huge fandoms for the foreseeable futures.

For Friendship Is Magic I was originally going to compare it to the hit series, Babylon 5, which ran for five seasons (excluding TV movies). The fandom was large when it ran, but when the show and movies ended at the end of the Nineties, so did the fandom. These days while there are numerous B5 fans, the fandom is for all practical purposes, been dead for a decade.

That isn't a fair comparison though, Friendship Is Magic fandom has something the Babylon 5 or X-Files fandom did not (other than ubiquitous broadband and Internet use), and that is the massive flow of creative and diverse fan derivative works. I never seen a fandom dedicated to a specific show have such an outpouring of artistic creativity, in art, in stories, in plushies, buttons, games, etc. before FIM came along. Because of this and the how alternative universe stories that developed, the fandom will go on.

That being said, it will also greatly shrink. It is inevitable, people move on. What will happen is the fandom with shrink to the more dedicated artists and writers who will continue and develop fandom material and even alternate universe, and those who follow them (even casually); a few new peeps will discover and get involved but for the most part it will be a much smaller, but a much more closely knitted fandom.

Wow, BBB, that's a lot of fine reference you have. Well, as for me, as long as the quality is good, who would want to decline that show and close it. However, one thing is difficult to bear is its longevity, the longer it runs, the more difficult to maintain and also expensive. A Simpsons producer said that during an interview back in 2010 mentioned about this difficulty.

I hope it better last, just like how I used to love Biker Mice from Mars from the old 90s days, but not in today's time when it just ended only in 1 season and less than 30 episodes. To me, I find that not cool with still a lot of potential. Maybe it's just the anti-competitiveness of Spongebob cost Biker Mice's life, similar to how El Tigre ended in only a short 2 season. :(

  6. I wouldn't mind about it, as FIM is a good show, it can't just close the whole series, and in the end, we all lose a lot of money from investment and also fans will be very unhappy about this when there's still a lot of potential up ahead.

Although take note, be in their shoes, the further seasons you go, the harder the management of the show becomes. And more importantly, like all cartoon producers, they cannot just simply go all brawn no brains, hence how the controversial cartoon, Spongebob became a success which I don't understand why, I bet maximized revenue was their drive compare to pure raw good reviews and investments like other cartoons would have such as Simpsons & Arthur (Arthur today, I heard people say Flash drawing method sucks and voiceovers also gone upside-down)

  7. Hello. Role playing video games tend to be my favorite, such the Legend of Zelda or Elder Scrolls, but I like FPS too. I just haven't played many, the only one I've done more than a couple times is CoD Black Ops II. x3 And I love the Portal series most of all. How about you?

For digital art, I've got to say my faovrite program is Paint Tool SAI, though I sometimes use Photoshop Elements. And I have a regular ol' wacom tablet for it too. What are your tools? <3

Black Ops was never my favorite, it's nauseating and darker than the Modern Warfare series (My primary favorite). BO2 was at least less dark than the first game. But when it comes to FPS in general, I'll go with Counter Strike Global Offensive, but not until I get my new desktop in August to take advantage of its high-end graphics with my new Haswell & Nvidia 7xx hardware. Oh, don't ask me on WW2, I hate that era, so outdated like crazy, I prefer the minimum "modern tech" is Cold War where AK47 & M16 were used. Oh yeah, although I don't mind Valve's Day of Defeat as the only WW2 game I can accept. :)

Speaking of Valve, I never play the series that uses fictional guns, so sorry, I don't play Half Life & Portal.

The usual Adobe softwares, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Audition & After Effects. Today, I got Source Filmmaker, but my laptop is pretty much dying like an old man in the Intensive Care Unit. So I have to wait till August.

Enjoy your stay at Canterlot! ;)

Nice signature, particularly Valve's "new" Day of Defeat trailer and their prototype of SFM before TF2 was made.

  8. Oh, of course. Thank you. Hmm... I wonder if I can enjoy some G1-flavoured topics around here, it's kind of rare except the 1 year obsolete "All Generation Tolerance? " thread. Hopefully I prefer to start a new one rather than reviving old ones. Reviving old ones including those from very early times is more like Steam Forum rules would to say.

  9. I'm excited to see it, honestly. It's still Megan McCarthy, and she's never done us wrong. I think the movie will outdo anyones expectations, honestly, because I trust the MLP staff. And if it sucks, so what? Will it kill the show and fandom? NO. It wont.

So everypony, keep calm and muffins.

All I saw and watch it was just skepticism, I'm pretty doubtful that an experienced crew like the FIM one could ruin the entire series, well, except the blunderous "Spike at Your Service", pretty much either negative or mixed. Equestria Girls is finally more positive when the cutie mark label is no longer on their cheeks, I look at it is just ridiculous, even including those in the eyes of animators, artists and graphics students alike, and myself too.

I think it should be fine, we can't review until we get to see the full movie in the end. Twilight never been so pretty this way. And I find the Mane 6 look so awesome when they wear skirts, especially Rainbow Dash, I knew she has a little girliness on her side.

Overall, I'll just wait and see and hopefully better be something really beautiful when it releases.

  10. Hi, I see you got Video Games on your interest, I wonder what you have in mind, any specific genres? Mine is FPS, last time used to have RTS but already dead since EA killed the genre while Blizzard keep it alive.

Anyway, digital arts, any specifics? Like Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop, etc...

Will chat more but decide to stop here.

  11. Hi, the name's Arrowghost. Found this forum out of popularity and I'm bored until Season 4 arrives.

Do call me Arrows, or BBK to those who know me from Deviantart and Youtube, I'm known for the "Command & Conquer Red Alert" flash animations. Also loving some classic movies, music, TV series including the good classic of the G1 era, I apologize to those who doesn't like that era. Babs Seed song being my favorite due to its oldie style from the 70s.

But anyway, would love to hang around for a while or if not play at the other threads.
