  1. Show off anything interesting on your fridge -- especially pony things!

Fun fact: The dog (Martha) was one of the precursors of Friendship is Magic, and is one of the reasons the cartoon is what it is today. A lot of the technology used to animate Martha Speaks was used in the development of pony by Studio B (now DHX Media).

Did you know that Martha, Rarity, Luna, Derpy, Mrs Cake, Granny Smith, and Pound Cake are all voiced by Tabitha St Germain?

*starts singing* Luna was an average dog. She went arf! And Woof! And Ruff! Then she ate some alphabet soup, and what happened was bizarre...*

  2. I'm looking for two illustrators for a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fanfiction.  The author requested my help in seeking two artists out.

The requirements are that you be able to draw ponies fairly well (I'm not asking for all-out Lauren Faust skills, just well enough). Close to the show's portrayal of the characters, but not perfect.

You'll also need a deviantART account.

Please message me for more details.

  3. I'm curious of your past experience with animating and the arts but I'm assuming that you have some experience since you're painting/crafting.

Moving along, I myself am not an animator but an enthusiast whom is looking into animation after I've tortured myself with redrawing a bunch of things a million times over. I can point you in the right direction and share what I do know but I can't help you any further from there. Now keep in mind that all these programs I'm about to suggest cost dosh so don't put down any cash unless you SERIOUSLY want to animate for a living.

There's currently three industry standards for animation, Toonboom, Adobe Flash, and Adobe After Effects. Toonboom is more towards traditional animation, it's strength is that it's oriented towards hand drawn frames in comparison to Flash and AE. Adobe Flash is more towards simplistic tweens, reusing goodies with ease via its library, and is great if you want viewers to interact with your flash. I view Flash as the middle ground between ToonBoom and AE, you can do traditional animation and rigging while having the option to add in interactive elements via Actionscript. Finally there's After Effects, I'm a bit hazy on this one but this is primarily specialized towards special effects and rigging models. If you know 2snacks he animates the "Two Best Sisters Play..." series with this as well as Two Best Friends animated content.

Because you want to have a 'true to show' style, you'll want to use Flash and/or After Effects. There's a million tutorials on the net for both programs so really all your resources are just a google search away. While After Effects isn't something I've really dabbled in I have toyed around with Flash. The two best resources I found is via Kirupa and Adam Philips Tutorials @ Bitey. Kirupa has a collection of tutorials which go in depth for most of Flash and how to properly utilize every bit you can. Adam Philips is an Ex-Disney animator so his recommendations in books and his tutorials should not be taken lightly! If you really want to animate look into finding the Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams.

There's my five cents, I bid you adieu. ;)

P.S. If you seriously want to animate you need to at least know how to make a convincing bouncing ball. You'll see the "Bouncing Ball" tutorial over and over in your search I'm sure, it's VITAL that you do it and understand what it's trying to teach you. Learning what Key Frames, Timing, Pacing, etc. is and how to properly utilize them is quite important, don't skimp out on this tut!

    Thanks for the advice. :D

Why draw the frames over and over? I saw a tutorial where they mentioned just using tracing paper is easiest.

Hmm... I see your point. I've never done animation before, so I'd best start at the beginning and go find out how to make that Bouncing Ball you speak so highly of. xD

    Thanks again. ;)

  4. Welcome aboard! I couldn't help but notice the comment on painting. What medium(s) do you use? Oil? Acrylic? Watercolor? It's a rare medium, what with Photoshop and all. Nice to see somebody is still at it!

Well I had been using some paints (not quite sure what type they are) that I found in an old artists set. However, I'm getting ready to learn to use watercolors for school. :)

  5. Well.... I'd love to say that I knew what his plans were for the end of the story... But he never told me. :(

I have no way of contacting him now, otherwise I'd ask.

So I guess it's up to me. I've been going back and forth in my mind with the ideas of maybe CJ is allowed to visit Equestria every few months or so, that way he can visit Fluttershy. Or perhaps he's transported to Equestria and stays there.

I haven't figured it out yet, sorry. *blush*

  6. Lavender Elegance had just arrived in Ponyville from Manehattan. She had never visited Ponyville before, but when her cousin Rarity had called begging her for a favor... She couldn't turn her down.

The train ride to Ponyville had been a long one. Lavender was exhausted. Looking up at the clock of the town hall, she observed that it was nearly five pm.

Lavender sighed and looked around, wondering where the Carousel Boutique was.

  7. So... Growing up, my whole life, I'd always wanted an older brother. Last fall, I got my wish. I met this guy on deviantART, and he asked if I'd like to be his 'little sister'. I agreed. I was happier than I'd ever been.

He wrote this amazing fanfic, and let me post it on FanFiction .net. http://m.fanfiction.net/s/8838182/1/Saving-Fluttershy

Afterwards, I asked him about a sequel, and he said he'd like there to be a sequel, but he wanted to see me write it. I agreed. We started it together, but then the trouble started. Not related to the fanfic, he and I had a misunderstanding. That led to another, and another, and another. Anytime I thought things were finally okay again between us, he'd pick another fight.

So far, we'd gotten three chapters of the sequel finished.

Soon after all this, I was verbally abused by him. Finally, a week ago, he deactivated his dA account. I'll probably never hear from him again.

But while I knew him, I loved him so much. He was the brother I never had. And now he's gone.

Anyway, In the sequel, here http://m.fanfiction.net/s/9304405/1/Your-Little-Mare

He and I are kind of in it... Our fiction counterparts anyway. So it's been painful for me to try to continue the story. Part of me wants to, and the other part misses him so badly it's just too hard.

So... My point is, I think it'd be easier to keep writing if I had soneone else to do it with. So... If you're interested, try giving it a read, and if you like it and would like to help me finish it (which involves offering ideas, possibly writing a few scenes, etc) message me.

  8. Just started making them, and I plan to start selling/doing commissions, just as soon as I get my pattern figured out.

So far I've made a Rarity plush. Her body is made from a white baby yarn (so soft!) and she's stuffed with polyester fiberfill. Her mane and tale are crocheted into the shape of her curls, and done with a shiny, dark purple yarn I found.

Her eyes and cutie mark will be embroidered.

She's super soft and super squishy and cuddly. ^^

The next practice plushie I'll make is Pinkie Pie.

Is anyone else a knitter/crocheter, or a plushie designer?

  9. Hello. :)

I'm very new to RP, but I'd love to give it a try.

I'm a Pegasister, trying to blance high school, fan art, fanfics, and watching MLP of course. I enjoy crafting, music, and painting ponies. ^^ Rarity is my fave of the mane six.

Anyway, I'm kinda looking for someone to explain RPing to me... *blushes* If someone has time, that is.

    Thanks.
