  1. Link me to your art so I can just add something to it and claim your work as mine then please? 8D

    lol, I don't think you'd want to.

Even if you did, I have almost none of it online.

What exactly is your definition of "mine" or "yours". This sense of ownership? To me, ownership of an idea is almost non-existent. Someone along the way already thought of it. Nothing is truly original. As for art, ownership should not be a big deal. Art is self-expression, an expression for one's self. Why should it matter what others think of it, or what they do with it? When one is satisfied with the product, then that is the payoff, the product of one's work. That satisfaction from the knowledge that one expressed one's self. If that helps others, great. If it doesn't, then also great. If others like it so much that they want it a copy for themselves, let them go for it and let them do what they want with it. What matters is that one expressed, somehow, a personal influence on whatever it is that one created. Whenever one does something to satisfy someone else, that's the part when the lines of art become blurred.

That's why I haven't uploaded any of my stuff, be it music, pictures, or writing. In fact, when one of my past bands broke up, I let them keep the songs I wrote. I don't care what people think of it, I care what I think of it, because it's the expression of myself, not anyone else's. How I arrive at that expression is completely up to me. From scratch or a cover, if it has any inkling that I put my influence on it, it's art.

  2. What you are saying can be expressed in the following statement I came up with moments ago:

You find a dog on the street,

He has a nametag telling where he lives.

You decided to put a hat on the dog.

    Now, is the dog yours?

That's different, because dogs are alive.

As much as I love art and what it has meant for the development of humanity, I would not even think of taking a companion from someone else, be it a person or a dog or a cat or whatever. That is not right.

No matter how much a piece of art may mean, it is still not worth the life of a potential best friend.

  3. So you'd be perfectly okay with someone taking something you drew, tracing over it, leaving EVERYTHING the same and then adding.. oh say a streak of green to the hair?

No it's not your art unless you DREW the entire image from scratch, no tracing "Tweaking" Someone elses art doesn't make it yours .

If that streak makes the art have a different meaning, then yeah. That's what art is. Self-expression.

  4. I see how this Twilight is behaving completely different than she did in other episodes, but I still would not have put it past her.

Yeah, the episode itself did not set up for her breakdown, but I feel that the series itself did. Just like Pinkie's breakdown happened after several things, Twilight's breakdown happened after several things deep in her mind. Even though Celestia told her to not worry, she still does. Which is why she was paranoid in Bird in the Hoof after already being told the lesson in Swarm of the Century. It's almost as if she doesn't truly learn when it comes to Celestia, and now that it was something that Celestia explicitly told her to do, unlike the other times, it was the threshold to her organisation, which she prizes so much.

Still think it's too early to make a judgement on Season 2 yet.

  5. That name sounds familiar. Was he the race car driver that died in that gruesome crash in Vegas not to long ago?

    RIP!

I think it was very recently.

That was honestly terrible. How could things like that be allowed to happen?

  6. This, this, and this. I don't go out of my way to hide the fact I am an FIM fan, I just don't openly advertise it, or at least I don't bring it up in places where topics such as cartoons one really likes are not typically brought up or appropriate (such as at $employer). I draw FiM fan artwork, and show that work on non-pony art sites which I have a page to, talk about it among friends who are fellow fans, and even with those who are not (when they bring up the topic), but I don't attempt to push the show on anyone no matter how much I may love it. This is based on the realization of how annoying it would be to me if someone(s) kept pushing on me something they were all about but I didn't have any particular interest in.

    Exactly.

Although that is what drove to join this forum, though. Since there's so few people (at least in my area), who enjoy the show as much as I do, I need to let all of these thoughts out. And not wanting to be a bother to my friends, this seemed logical.

  7. Hmm, they do have some guidelines. I think the first chapter/part has to be... 2500 words? Or was it 1500? They also like decent spelling and grammar, and minimal OCs unless your story is good.

Woah, didn't know about that one.

Mine is pretty much all OC's until the ending. I don't know if it's good though. I have a hard time criticising myself.

  8. I absolutely love football! I can play, watch, and analyse it for hours. I did, back in the day before ponies. I still try to play it, but it gets hard. At least I still play FIFA 12, so that's kinda still playing it. I do watch it regularly though.

I also like to play volleyball, although it's been some time.

  9. I think the main problem is that the time for character development is past and now they are using the Simpsons/Family Guy style of putting their characters is zany situations and going on autopilot, along with throwing a lot of exaggerating into the mix

I really hope that's not true.

There's still so much we don't know about them.

    Their back stories, for example.

  10. I, myself, was more worried about season 2 from the first episode than the last two. That one just distorted everything beyond belief and I do agree that this one is not as developed as it could have been. But from the structural perspective, I feel like it was necessary.

Not every episode is supposed to be incredibly plot-driven and deep, this is still a show for families, not cine-junkies. So it would make sense for them to provide a little comic relief, to transition into the new season. I thought that it still had some characterisation, regardless of whether it was the focus. If anything, you learn about Twilight's neurotic behaviour, but also of the lengths she's willing to go to achieve academic perfection.

Another thing was that Pony Kindergarten. She had to have had some bad experiences with that in her past. As for the other characters, it shows Celestia's true benevolence as she understands Twilight and basically forgives her. The others learn that helping a friend with a seemingly unimportant problem is essential, even after initial dismissal. There's a lot more, but that would be going off on a tangent and kind of too specific.

I also agree with Ginger Mint that this is not the first of its kind. I mean, Bird in the Hoof, Twilight was being completely unreasonable without any basis. The only reason it wasn't more evident was because it revolved around Fluttershy. Swarm of the Century also showed how nit-picky she is, especially when it comes to Princess Celestia. She also used mind-control magic in that one. Granted the problem was more evident, the way that she handles it is essentially the same. Especially with Feeling Pinkie Keen. That's another time when she's so obsessed with something that she won't let it go, almost to the point of death. She wasn't really pushed to a breaking point either. She just starts being narrow-minded and accepting only what she believes in.

Because of those reasons is why I think those are my least favourite episodes yet. I hope there's no others that fall lower.

  11. I'll agree with you kal413. True words in effect. Even if your body grows old, its really how old you are in your heart and mind that actually matters, of course, that must come with knowing when to turn it off as needed as well.

    Exactly.

Although, does one really need to turn it off? I feel that the reason children are not taken seriously is because of their experience, not necessarily their maturity. With the knowledge one experiences from life, then that will become what one needs to progress. Which in itself, could be called growing up, I guess.

What I'm trying to say is, that one should never give up the open-mind and affection that was once felt as a child.

  12. If it's your work from the get go I don't care if you go back and edit/trace your OWN work XD the problem is when it is someone elses work .

But as soon as you put something of yourself in it, something original, could it still not be called your own?

Sure others made the original, but you tweaked it in such a way that it creates something entirely different. To me, that is still art.

  13. About myself.: Hmm...

First and foremost, I love ponies. It is truly one of the best things that has even touched my life.

More about me though , would include that I am creative (at least I think so), intelligent (also up for debate), and very trustworthy. I love to write, play music, draw, sing, act, basically anything artistic. I also love science. Biology and Quantum Physics really fascinate me. Everything just works out. Kinda like ponies. I can relate anything to ponies, lol.

How did you hear about Canterlot.com?: I actually just typed "my little pony forum" into Google, and this is what came up. and

How did you became a fan of FiM?: I found it on the internet, after I had already watched the first episode on TV.

My one favourite main cast pony?: Fluttershy

So, hopefully this forum will provide the perfect interaction of ponies.
