Welcoming Committee [OPEN]

Hello everyone, SonicBoom01 here with a little forward to the RP. This RP might start out a little confusing, but its to establish Frostbite as a resident in Fillydelphia. The point of this thread is basically for Frostbite to show up at town, become a citzen of Fillydelphia, and to explore the town. Anyone that wants to join the RP can join in, but I do need someone to "officially" give citizenship to Frostbite, because I'm honestly not sure if there even is a mayor or something for this town yet. (He/She might be at the Gala. You never know.) So yeah, anyone that RPs here in Fillydelphia or in the vacinity can join in, please keep the current state of the story in mind. At this point Frostbite is waiting for someone to validate his citizenship inside the Town Hall, so its really not appropriate if your character appears out of nowhere and is all "OHAI I'M A PONY WHO LIVES HERE WANT TO BE FRENS?" Because at this point the waiting room is empty aside from Frostbite. Now, if your pony comes inside complaining of being woken up by someone's yelling, that would work. Just try to keep within the story.

It was an average day in Fillydelphia, aside from the fact that the town was unusually bare... er... than usual, the number of residents at the Gala attributing to that. The streets were empty, for the most part, but it was about 7 am at the moment. The summer sun had barely risen above the horizon and was painting the town and surrounding plains in a yellowish glow. The town was at peace. Nothing could disturb the tranquil delicacy of the town, not even the loud grumblings of the lone pegasus flying at a snail's pace towards the town hall.

"Why do I have to be sent here in the middle of the summer? I did my work and they know it! Lousy rotten foals, if I had a bit for every time they thought they were right I'd not be working for those buffoons anymore!" The stallion grumbled in the morning light as he flew into the Fillydelphia city limits. The stallion's normally icy-blue coat looked slightly green in the yellow glow of the morning, his snow-white mane tinted yellow. The stallion's aggrivated ramblings continued as he hovered through the streets, "You're not getting your work done, Frostbite! You're screwing around, Frostbite! You're not supposed to fly that way, Frostbite! Frostbite, Frostbite, Frostbite!" The stallion was practically yelling by now. He landed promptly in front of the town hall, and sighed. "Might as well get this over with." Trotting inside, he was about to go through the moment he was dreading the most on the way here. Glancing around, there was no one inside as far as Frostbite could see, but he did spy some steps in the back leading upstairs. "Is anyone in here? Hello?" Frostbite yelled into the empty room. "I'm here for my citizenship. I'm the new weather pony? I was transferred from Cloudsdale?"

I hate my internet. I spend about 30 minutes typing up a post, then it decides to delete the whole thing on me when I try to submit it.

Anyways, I'm applying Rule #4 here. It's been well over 12 hours by now and the story's going to progress. This leaves 1 more grace post before I kill the thread off. Anywho, with that aside let's get to REWRITING THE POST AGAIN. Stupid internet.

Frostbite wandered through the streets of Fillydelphia, too disheartened to even fly. His mind replayed the last 3 hours in his head. It took about an hour for the pony in charge to even wake up, and this was only due to Frostbite getting impatient after an hour passed from him first ringing the bell. Frostbite personally saw to waking up who he believed was the mayor in order to get his citizenship verified. The pony that he woke up was none too pleased at being woken up at this time of day, and showed its discontent. Nevertheless, the pony, who was revealed to be the mayor's assistant, verified Frostbite's citizenship and handed over the Weather Pony gear to Frostbite after Frostbite finished filling out the mountain of papers for his record. The assistant promptly shoved Frostbite outside, slammed the door in his face, then headed back upstairs to resume sawing logs. Frostbite sighed, entering the town square. The town square was already filled with ponies doing their everyday business, whether it be doing their jobs or running errands or simply having an adventure. He sat down at a table in front of one of the town's (or would it be considered a city?) eateries, and began rummaging through the gear he recieved. A book on the basics of being a weather pony, some weather measuring gear including a barometer and rain gauge, a pair of goggles (which Frostbite slipped around his neck upon discovery), and his weather schedule for the next month, all contained within his complimentary weathertight saddlebags. After returning his gear into the bags, Frostbite began thinking of what to do now. First things first, I need a home. He thought, laying his head down on the table in front of him. I can't make a home out of clouds, at least, not today. The sky's completely clear. Maybe there's an inn around here or something. Or maybe... Frostbite closed his eyes, becoming lost in his thoughts.

(I'd say it's more of a city.)

Re-roll almost walked right into the pegasus. That'll teach me for not looking where I'm going. he thought to himself. "Woah, sorry." he hurriedly apologized. "I should have looked where I was going. Speaking of going, you look lost. Need any help?"

Frostbite's concentration was broken when someone bumped into him and knocked him and the chair he was sitting on onto the ground. The table was overturned in the chaos, the weight of Frostbite's body falling brought it down, as Frostbite had been laying his head on it. Frostbite got up as the teal earth pony was apologizing. "Woah, sorry." The pony apologized, quickly and awkwardly. "I should've looked where I was going. Speaking of going, you look lost. Need any help?" Frostbite chuckled audibly at what the colt was saying. "Heh, you really need to be out of it if you're going to run into tables and chairs." Frostbite chuckled a bit more. "But yeah, I could use some help. I'm new here and I feel like I'm in a cumulonimbus." Frostbite held his hoof out to the colt. "I'm Frostbite. You?"

"Well, Re-Roll, I have no clue where anything is at in this town, I don't know anyone here, and I'm homeless, at the moment." Frostbite chuckled nervously. "I'm a member of the Weather Bureau, I was, uh, transferred here due to, um, a lack of Snow Experts, yeah." Frostbite kneaded the ground in front of him with his hooves as he talked. "They normally have housing available for Weather Ponies, but because it was, eheh, short notice..." Glancing away nervously, "They don't have any for me." ...Because they thought that would be fitting 'punishment'. Foals. Frostbite finished his sentence in his head, not wanting to relay his real thoughts. "So, yeah, it would be, uh, great if you could point the way towards the nearest inn or something. I'd appriciate it."

"No home, eh?" Re-roll considered for a moment, before realizing. "If you're looking for a place to stay, I live in an apartment in that block right over there." he pointed at a tall building with his hoof. "I'm pretty sure that there's at least 1 apartment available. And the rent's not bad, either."

Frostbite chuckled, and hopped from his standing position into a hover. "I don't think an apartment would work well with me." Frostbite motioned to his wings with a jerk of his head. "I don't usually walk or stand around. Most of the time I'm flying or hovering, and an apartment seems a little too small to do that. That, and apartments usually have crappy air conditioning. That's not good for me, especially during this time of year. I hate the heat, it makes me irritable and stuff." Frostbite explained, his front legs crossing as he said this. The only thing that he moved were his wings, that fluttered at a pace to keep Frostbite hovering in that one spot.

"Ah, right." Re-roll readjusted his mane and returned to the matter at hand. "I don't know about any inns. I haven't lived here that long myself. I think there may be one somewhere. It's most likely going to be where all the bakeries and food stores are. I'll show you if you want." he began to trot toward a small group of stores, hoping that Frostbite would follow.

Aurora Shine walked towards her shop, accidentally bumping into several ponies in her rush. "Oops- Sorry- Sorry, everypony" she said as she walked past, almost galloping to get to her shop. She was late! She started to trot, and then gallop, picking up speed as she realised that her customers were probably lined up out the door- oh no, she must hurry-

She burst around the corner to see- nothing. "Oh," she said, slightly deflated. Nopony was around to visit her shop. All the same it was good to be here. She looked along the main street and wondered what to do. She had to open shop... She walked in and turned the sign over. Another slow day, no doubt.

((Where would your game shop be positioned? Might be useful to be nearby :)))

((First off let me apologize for the slight delay. I was a bit preoccupied... with watching some Whose Line is it Anyways? clips. :) ))

Frostbite was hovering along, behind Re-Roll, following him to... well, wherever Re-Roll was leading him to. Frostbite frowned. How could I have already forgotten where he's taking me to? Frostbite became lost in his thoughts and began to float off in a different direction Re-Roll was heading. He floated for 3 minutes or so when suddenly he was spun-out in flight. "-Sorry." His assailant quickly said while running off. After regaining himself, Frostbite spun around to see a Bluish-Purple unicorn mare with a green mane. Curious to where she was going, Frostbite followed her around the corner, to see her turn a sign in a store window. Might as well find out what her rush was. Frostbite thought, pushing the door to the store open with his head and walking inside. He examined the store's contents, deducing that it... well he wasn't sure what type of store it was. There were lights, and pictures, and mobiles everywhere. Frostbite's brow furrowed and he became lost in his thoughts... again...

(Understandable. That show is funny.)

"A game store? Well, it's a store that sells...where are you going?" Re-roll galloped after Frostbite and followed him into the store. "I thought we were looking for a place for you to stay." he gasped. He took a minute to look around the store they were in. "Hey, I know this place. My store's not too far from here."

Aurora looked out of the window, frowning slightly. There were ponies there! How could there be ponies there?! And now one of them was walking in! She hardly ever got customers, so this was a pleasant surprise. "Hello, my good pony", she said nervously to the other pony. "How may I help you?"

Suddenly, ANOTHER pony walked in! Aurora's mind reeled. What could have possibly happen for her to get a sudden rush? She smiled at the ponies even as she stared in shock. The two looks weren't a very good combination.

"Hello, my good pony." Frostbite snapped out of his daze and looked towards where the voice came from to see the mare that had bumped into him earlier. "How may I help you?" Frostbite opened his mouth to respond, but was interrupted by the door opening behind him. "I thought we were looking for a place for you to stay." Re-Roll's voice said from behind Frostbite, making him do a 180. "Hey, I know this place. My store's not too far from here." Re-Roll said, glancing around the store. Frostbite chuckled nervously, "I guess I, eheh, forgot. I get sidetracked easily." Frostbite grinned, "Anyways, I came in here because I was curious at why that unicorn bumped into me." He said, motioning his head towards the store owner, then turning towards her. "By the way, what was the rush?"

Aurora moved a little nervously. Even though they were in her shop she still didn't epect them to talk to her. Normally they just looked around and then left... "Well, my name is Aurora Shine, and I was just hurrying to get here... You know, just in case I had a customer..." Aurora sighed a little. She hardly ever got to speak to anypony who visited her shop... It seemed almost unreal. She moved back a bit, behind her counter; she had accidentally moved forward while she was speaking. She stopped and waited patiently for an answer.

"...You don't have any customers though." Frostbite stated, looking around the room. "Do you even get many customers or anything? 'Cause some of this stuff's pretty dusty." Frostbite emphasized his point by blowing on one of the mobiles, sending a shower of dust into the air.

"Well, I've never been in here before. It seems nice." Re-roll wandered around the store, looking at everything on display. "Strange. My own store's just down the road, but I've never noticed here before. It's quite nice. Tranquil." he said to Aurora.

Aurora looked bashfully at the floor, smiling sadly. "No, I don't get an awful lot of customers. I was just hopeful..." She looked up quickly, her little, sad grin turning into a genuine smile. "But you're here now! Do you want to take a look around?" she asked happily. Finally, a customer! Maybe she could get a sale, after such a long time! And this pony seemed nice, maybe she could make a friend here too... But no, that would probably be slightly too optimistic. She couldn't afford to drive away a potential customer by trying to make a friend!

Suddenly, the other pony spoke up. "Strange. My own store's just down the road, but I've never noticed here before. It's quite nice. Tranquil", he said. Aurora smiled, thinking that maybe she actually HAD found some customers!

((Also, guys, it's recommended to have at least 5 lines. I got spoken to by a staff about it, I don't want it to happen to you as well!))

((Usually I do, but a conversation without much movement involved is kinda hard to stretch to five lines without being redundant.))

"No, I don't get an awful lot of customers. I was just hopeful... But you're here now! Do you want to take a look around?" Frostbite chuckled audibly after Aurora's comment. "Wasn't I already doing that?" His grin dropped into a frown afterwards, "I'm sorry, but I can't buy anything at the moment. I'm sort of homeless." Frostbite explained, a tinge of sadness in his voice. "Re-Roll here was helping me find a place to stay when I lost track of my thoughts and ended up in here." He chuckled nervously and blushed a bit with the memory. "I'm easily sidetracked."

Aurora felt a twinge of sadness that the pony couldn't buy something, but that was drowned out by a rush of sadness at the other pony's predicament. "Well, I hope you have fun doing... Whatever it is you're going to do now... Good luck with everything! I'll understand if you want to leave right now..." She said cheerily, trying to help the pony out by being nice. "If you ever need help, just come visit..."

"I'll understand if you want to leave right now... If you ever need help, just come visit." He stifled a chuckle, even though he was still frowning slightly. "I'm not that mean that I'm going to just leave you hanging like that." He brought his hoof to his chin, as a thought formed in his head. "As for help, well, maybe you can help me now." Frostbite said, head perking up. "Do you know somewhere I could stay, like an inn or something?" He broke out in another grin, "I'll make sure to pay you back once I get paid. I'm Frostbite, by the way." He finished, walking over to the counter and sticking his hoof out.

Aurora took the proffered hoof gently, unsure exactly what to do. Her friend-making skills were a tad rusty. "Hi, Frostbite" she said a little shyly. She shook the hoof, and then got down to pull out a pad and pencil. She magicked the pencil into writing. "I know the name of a little hotel... Y'know, if you want to go visit..." she said, carefully printing the address on the paper. She took the paper and pushed it to Frostbite, waiting for him to take it.
