(Just noticed this, sorry.) He looked around, and noticed a cube behind him, covered in some old debris. Using the device on his head he moved the debris out of the way to reveal a cube, one with a heart on it. He picked it up and trotted out of the lair.

Data Stream glared down at him from her screen on the wall.

"Oh, good. You finally decided to listen. And you brought back a friend. The vital apparatus vent was broken, so, although I was going to give you one of those, I couldn't. That is the Aponyture Science Weighted Companion Cube. The Weighted Companion Cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. In the event that it does speak, the Enrichment Center advises you to ignore its advice. Take good care of it." she said. "I do hope you're not the lone wolf type who doesn't think he needs any friends or help. Not that I see you as a wolf or anything. Wolves are majestic creatures. You're more like a puppy. A selfish puppy who doesn't listen to direction. Anyways, you'll be requiring your new friend to complete the test."

The screen flickered off, and the stallion looked at the chamber ahead of him.

Charged Bolt rolled his eyes, and looked for an opening to shoot a portal above the turret. Upon finding a tiny sliver at the top of the glass, he shot a portal as close as he could, then he shot one at the ground. He dropped the cube in, and hoped for the best.

The cube connected with its target, knocking the mechanical mare over, which caused it to go it a frenzy of frantic random fire before saying "I don't blame you." and shutting down.

Posted

The mechanical mare laid motionless on the floor. After making entirely sure that it was shut off and wouldn't reactivate itself, he carefully stepped over it and retrieved his cube. The test chamber seemed to have quite a few more mechanical mares in it, judging by the sounds of their robotic voices echoing off the chamber walls.

Two of them, one on either side, guarded the passageway ahead. The stallion looked at his cube, an oddly endearing object despite being a block of cold metal.

Posted

The stallion had to duck out of the way as the mare toppled over and went into a shooting frenzy, before she had murmured "Why?" and shut down. Her frantic fire had damaged the one across from her, shutting that one down as well.

The exit was within sight, a large metal door just like in the last chamber. However, there was first quite a stretch of the chamber's trials to go before he would reach it. A few scattered mechanical mares called out, and there was a strange, glowing orb of some sort bouncing off of a nearby wall.

Posted

The orb left scorch marks on whatever it bounced off of, so the stallion assumed he couldn't touch it. There was a large device on the wall that seemed important, and this part of the chamber had only black wall panels. The orb suddenly bounced off of the opposite wall and straight at the stallion. He ducked behind his companion cube, which deflected the sporadic orb of energy with surprising efficiency.

The stallion decided it was worth a shot. The orb was coming back now. He angled his cube and ducked behind it, hoping for the best... Success! The orb ricocheted off of the cube with a resounding clank and flew right into the device, raising a staircase of platforms up to a higher platform. The stallion silently thanked the cube, and noticed that the orb had left only a slight black char mark on its surface. The stallion walked up to find a puzzling bit of the chamber. There was a large thing that emanated heat protruding from the floor, and a small red button on a podium.

"We apologize, but you cannot take your companion cube any further, and it must be euthanized. Please escort your friend to the Aponyture Science Emergency Intelligence Incinerator. Do not worry, 8 out of 10 Aponyture scientists agree that the Weighted Companion Cube is not capable of feeling much pain." Data Stream instructed him coldly.

Posted

Once the cube had descended into the incinerator, the nearby exit door swung open. Data Stream's cruel voice crackled over the intercom again.

"Congratulations, you euthanized your ever-faithful companion cube faster than any test subject on record. But don't worry, if it could have talked I'm sure it would have said it would rather die in a fire than become a burden to you."

An elevator just like the last chamber's exit awaited him inside the door. He got inside, and it transported him to the next chamber- which was a sight that rather puzzled him. It was a long corridor that turned sharply up ahead, with a pool of the odorous green liquid like in the first chamber at its bottom, and in front of him a continuous procession of platforms moved slowly in his direction, sliding into a slit in the wall once they reached him. The gaps between the platforms were too wide to jump, but the walls in the corridor were all made of the portal-sustaining white panels...

(Sorry, christmas season, lots of stuf had to be done. Back now.)

He leaps onto a platform, and aims at the wall on his left, before shooting a portal at it and shooting one at the end of the hallway.

He could now nearly see the next part of the chamber. Although it was still unclear and partially blocked by the wall, whatever was there sure was bright... The stallion leaped through the portal. He must have stepped through some sort of sensor or something, because to his surprise the moving platforms switched to begin streaming the other direction, towards the next portion of the chamber. To his horror, the stallion looked ahead to see what lay ahead of him- fire. The entire floor of the room was in flames, and the platforms were sliding systematically into it. Data Stream's voice crackled loudly over the intercom again.

"Congratulations, you reached the end- for you. All Aponyture equipment will remain fully functional at temperatures up to 9000 degrees Kelvin. It's been *glitch* fun. Goodbye."

The stallion frantically scanned the room as the platform he stood on slid closer and closer to the flames below. Finally, a possible escape; a sort of overseer's deck up ahead, far above the flames, the wall behind it luckily made completely of white panels.

"What are you doing- Woah, woah, *glitch* woooooooaaaaaah. *glitch* We-e-e-e are pleased that you have successfully completed the part of the test where we pretended we were going to murder you. We will now hold a party in your honor. Please assume the party escort submission position. Lay down flat on your stomach, with all four legs straight out, and lay the device on the floor. An Aponyture Science associate will arrive momentarily to collect you for your party. If you do not assume the party escort submission position, you will miss the party." Data Stream droned mechanically.
