I can't say for Nexus but Shadowtred is, more or less, a "black sheep" in his family. The rest of his family, such as Sea Shore(his twin sister), are very colorful.

My stars! I know that feeling... Monochrome ponies are tough, I like the color you picked for her eyes, though I wonder if it might help to give her coat a few degrees of blue-green, like R47,G47,B51 instead of a straight up 51x3... but thats just an idea, take it with a grain of salt.

I like this, this gave me a great idea! The otherpony looks rather...plain faced.
