  1. (( I hate to be the bearer of poor news, but I've decided to drop the responsibility of playing the Mayor. Unless a new player comes along and would like to take up the role in this thread, odds are that she will not play a major role in the storyline anymore. I know I didn't really get the chance to keep playing her here, but my summer job and just a general lack of will to keep playing in the threads has gotten to me. Hope to see you ponies around the board! ))

  3. The Mayor jumped a little when she heard the mare address her, sighing softly before smiling. "Oh! Hello there, dear. I was hoping I could get a routine check-up and cleaning." She was, more or less, calm and comfortable, but one could sense she was a bit more tense than she normally was. After all, it was the dentist and, as odd as it seemed, the Mayor's past experiences with other dentists growing up made her queasy, even unsettled at times, when she had her annual check-up. Despite having a pearly white smile, it took a hefty bit of dental work brushing two times a day. She made sure she had signed in properly before looking to the other pony in hopes of getting her dental check-up that day. "If...you're busy or something, I can come back another time" she insisted, her voice already showing a bit of shakiness and fear when it came to being int that special chair. She gave a big smile in attempt to show she was more than happy to accomodate, but a pony could easily see the slight worry in her facial expression.
  4. Vanilla Latte, or simply the Mayor, hesitantly trotted over to look up at the pristine sign outside the office. While she was an older mare that was mature and proper, she never got over her dislike of the dentist. It was something she had feared as a filly because of bad experiences in the past. However, she was overdo for a cleaning and she needed to keep her healthy, sparkling white smile in tip-top shape if she was to keep her public image in an equally good condition. Taking a small breath to collect her thoughts, she walked into the office curiously and browsed the waiting room to see if there was at least a familiar face before she made her way to the front desk. Taking the pen in her mouth, she signed her name on the sheet at the front before starting over to a window so she could take her mind off the appointment. Nothing did that quite like watching other ponies go about their day.
  5. The stars were sparkling like diamonds piercing through the veil of night and the moon was ominous and looming as it ever was. Having been there for quite some time to help set up the affair in any way she could, the mayor of Ponyville scurried about to make sure that Ponyville's contributions were made to the Gala before taking up shop in the Main Hall to await the guests. While she wasn't going to be the formal greeter like Princess Celestia was, she always was anxious to meet the other guests – especially if they were her own citizens! On top of doing what she could to lend a helping hoof in the preparations, she made sure that she came dressed and ready for a night of extravagance and merriment. Rather than leaving her hair in its natural, almost-pompadour state, she had it done back into a ponytail (no pun intended) with a a bang of hair to compliment her face more. She also decided to go with her favorite pearl earrings for the occasion as well as what looked to be a matching choker. Lastly, of course, was her dress – a vanilla white halter dress that she complete with a neckerchief of the same color as her neck blouse from work. It was a little more complicated than she had like, but her personal friend and tailor assured her that it would do her well for the Gala. Sure enough, she was pleased enough with it to wear it to the gathering. Giving herself one last look in the mirror to adjust the ponytail-and-bang hairstyle and make sure that the dress was fitting and comfortable, she calmly trotted out into the Main hall to await guests – especially citizens of Ponyville.

  7. It was just after sunrise and the colt was making sure that everything was clean and ready for his shop's grand opening. "C`mon, Blue, this is your first day on the job. Everything needs to be absolutely perfect." Hastily galloping around the long, clean table in the middle of the room, he made sure all the books were arranged by their titles while the books on the spell book shelves had to be kept by school of magic and then title. He checked for what seemed like the tenth time before moving back to the middle table – which was strewn about with various knick-knacks, relics, and magical items. The more valuable and/or fragile items – ranging from preserved dragon eggs to ancient tomes – were marked with a neatly, quill pen-written sign stating "Please, don't touch!". Occasionally flicking his head to get the dreadlocks out of his eyes and around his horn, he moved along to make sure the matching, dark mahogany countertop where the register sat was also spotless and freshly-wiped. The glass casing beneath the counter was also filled with other magical items – namely gems and emblems that were a little pricier than the reagents and books he specialized with. Finally, he craned his head to double-check the pricetags on the various magical items on the back shelf – including things like artisan-made tarot card decks, magical apparel such as hats and capes, and – of course – wands of all types. "Everything looks pristine as needed" remarked the unicorn with a faint British accent before he clopped over to the door. With an idle spark of his horn, the shopkeep turned the sign on the door's window to say 'open' and started back to his position behind the counter. Blue Moon briefly stopped infront of a mirror he kept near the counter to adjust the collar and necklace he wore for professional attire before adjusting his glasses and standing behind the counter – anxious for customers to arrive. OOC: This is the thread dedicated to Blue Moon's magic shop and a place where ponies can get anything mystical and wondrous – from a new story book on a magical tale to reagents and spell books. Feel free to refer to the chart located below for a layout of what the shop looks like.
  8. Perhaps my favoriate aspect of the entire episode was the presence of Gummy in all his awesomeness. On top of that, some of the facial expressions – especially during Pinkie's crazy phase – are downright memorable and hilarious. The only issue I had with this episode was the fact that it was a very gray issue. On the one hand, the ponies were planning a party for her birthday, but I can see why Pinkie felt ignored or isolated from the group.
  9. WARNING: There may be spoilers below. This episode had so many different possible themes/lessons, so I was constantly guessing them throughout the show (i.e. modesty when Spike was riding on the attention, learning to overcome jealousy when Twilight's new night assistant comes). Overall, though, this was a nice episode that gave Spike some much-needed show time. Not as 'epic' as the Cutie Mark Chronicles or episodes like that, but it was fun to watch! I also realize that this brings the number of animal companions up to eight: Gummy, Opal, Winona, Angel, Hummingway, Elizabeak, Philomena, and now Twilight's owl.
  10. I was watching it through one more time for the heck of it and I just noticed something. I'm fairly certain that the coloring and design that was used for Twilight's mother was the original concept design that Faust had for Twilight in the planning phases of the show.
  11. Just got done watching the episode myself. Very epic and also very interesting in terms of a plot. Some things I definitely liked include filly Applejack, the comical nature of Rarity's journey, and Rainbow Dash's epic contribution to everything. On the down-side, though I felt that filly Fluttershy looked almost anorexic with how thin her legs and body were and Twilight's story – before we saw an explanation – looked a little overly dramatic. On the other hand, this is also the first episode that I can think of that we got to see some of the ponies' parents. Twilight's parents were pretty neat and I got a chuckle out of the Amish feel for Pinkie Pie's family.
  12. This one was rather interesting because the writers did a good job hiding what could've been a rather obvious literary device. When it got to the fountain scene, I immediately realized what this was all about with the bird being what it is. Anyways, this one also surprised me because I never thought I'd see Fluttershy steal anything. Ever!
  13. Name: Blue Moon Gender: Male Age: Adult Species: Unicorn Pelt Color: Ivory white Mane/Tail Color & Style: Gold blond with the hair done in dreads and the tail 'au naturale' Eye Color: Teal Cutie Mark: A tome with a moon seal on it and covered in magical sparkles Physique: Tall, slender in the legs, and fairly strong Residence: Ponyville Occupation: Shopkeep and veteran magic scholar Motivation: To make a name for himself as a magic scholar and serve the city of Ponyville through his shop Likes: Reading and collecting tales of lore and magic, tinkering and caring for magical objects, practicing unicorn magic, enjoying his usual cup of coffee at the cafe, and taking evening strolls through Ponyville Dislikes: His shop being unorganized or messy, dealing with dangerous mystical creatures, extremely loud noises, and displeased customers Character Summary: Blue Moon was born and raised in Canterlot by his unicorn mother and father – both of which prominent scholars of the magical arts. He lived a typical life like many of the ponies in Canterlot, which included attending the local schoolhouse until he was of age and making friends with the local colts and fillies. His parents also had him attend a tutor to better handle his unicorn magic in part because of the deeply magical genes he inherited from his parents. Despite not being the most talented magic user amongst his peers, he was a hard worker and eventually mastered intermediate magical spells by the time he was in his teens. However, this was not before earning his cutie mark and learning of his place in Equestria. Blue Moon started down the road to earning his cutie mark when he found himself lost in Canterlot's business district and stumbled into the alleyway dedicated to some of Canterlot's oldest magicians and sorcerers. In the time it took him to navigate his way out of the rather intimidating shops and stands, he had garnered a fascination for magical relics and tales of lore through discovering a magic book store. This would start him down the road to learning and 'collecting' tales of magical lore – so much so that he earned his cutie mark after receiving his first archaic tome from his mother upon graduating from school. For the years following his schooling, Blue Moon dedicated his time and energy to traveling Equestria to collect hundreds, if not thousands, of books and harness his magic to the best of his ability. After traveling for some time, Blue Moon decided it was time to settle down somewhere. Convinced that he had his fill of Canterlot, he sought out a new life in quiet, little Ponyville. Setting up his own shop in the marketplace, he now has dedicated himself as a 'lorekeeper' and experience scholar of the magical arts. For him, nothing is better than offering a magical tale or giving a helping hoof to a young unicorn or pony anxious to learn magic. With his bookshelves filled to the brim with magical tomes of spells and stories as well as almost endless containers of magical reagents, Blue Moon aims to bring a little more magic to Ponyville and it's denizens. Edit: Updated the background story a bit and brightened his eyes.
  14. The first thing that hit me about this episode was the number of cameos. We have Photo Finish as the supposed Lady Gaga pony, we had the monopoly pony in the first fashion walk (complete with the monocle and tophat), and even Derpy was amongst the ponies. It was neat seeing all the different ponies in this one. I liked the story behind this episode as well as the focus on Rarity and Fluttershy. Its a bit much to put two Rarity episodes back-to-back, but it was a well-made episode nonetheless.
  15. The mayor paused in drinking her tea when she was approached by the colt, leaving her mug on the table as she listened. "Oh, hello! Concerts? she asked before thinking to herself, rubbing her 'chin' with a hoof as she pondered a bit on it. "Well, we have public spaces that a pony can book with the city if there are orchestras or groups who want to perform, but the only time the city will officially book a musical event is if we need live musicians for, say, the Galloping Gala or another festivity of sorts." She herself wasn't the most modern of ponies, often listening to jazz or classical rather than anything that the fillies and younger ponies enjoyed. "Yes, we do have houses for sale that you can look up with some of my assistants, but I can't say we have any official positions for a DJ – least until I need to start planning for a big event or festival. I recommend just making a name for yourself in town and you'll easily find work." She gave a sad smile with her advice, unsure what more she could do for the up-and-coming DJ.
