My grandma used to tell me stories about her childhood during the war with her many siblings, and it sounded something like that. ^^

There was an underground bar underneath our house. A biting dog with a man's jaw. Visiting the UK again...but the streets were dead empty!

That sounds like the kind of thing that's cool to describe, and would make a very inspirational arty piece of film, but would be rather traumatic to experience >.> My sympathies.
