  1. If you prefer a short-form style for RPing, we have chat-RP too.

    Welcome and such!

It's not that I prefer it, per se, it's just that my posts have never been spectacularly long. Just what was needed, typically, no more and no less, though sometimes I'd embellish it.

    Age: Stallion

    Species: Pegasus

Physique: A little taller than the average stallion, and a little thinner too, being a pegasus.

    Origin: Hoofington

    Roleplay Type: Mane

Occupation: Park Ranger for the greater Hoofington region.

Motivation: Making sure those that are lost make it back safe, every time.

Character Summary: There are many patches of trees and rough terrain that dot the landscape around Hoofington. Somepony needs to take care of them, and that pony is Wind Rider, the quiet and calm Ranger with a knack for navigation.

It was as if he was born for his job. His mother was a successful Weather Patrolmare, and his father was a harbour pilot, leading the great ships through the reefs and the rocks of the bay, allowing them to safely enter and leave the port. Both of them were amazingly good at navigation, his father using it to get the ships safely through the bay, while his mother used her navigation skills to get her safely out of clouds, where a careless pony could end up flying in the wrong direction, either off to the middle of nowhere, out over the sea, or straight down to the ground. It was only natural that he would have some innate navigational ability just from his parents alone.

And this skill all came together to help him earn his cutie mark. Wind Rider was one of the few blank flanks left in his class, and with he and his friends soon to enter the colt stage, he wanted his desperately to acquire his. With a break from school one day, he and his friends decided to go out for a hike through one of the forests near Hoofington. Despite their young age, the group of four were reasonably mature, and would often go on long hikes, hikes that would last for almost a full day. Once, they'd even spent a whole night out in the forest before returning home. Something, however, went wrong on this hike. A patch of freak, heavy fog had kicked up as they were planning to turn back, and the group ended up turned around. They went much deeper into the forest than they ever had before, and none of the trees were marked like the others - they would often tie ribbons around trees to help find their way - which meant that they were totally lost.

For a while, the young foals walked around in circles, trying to find a way out. This led them to walk around in circles for a while, until a sense of despair caught the group. Wind Rider, who up until this point had been silent, eventually spoke up. Wind Rider had always been a little quiet, but he knew he had to take charge.

Ordering his friends to stand still, he took off. With both his parents accomplished flyers, and needing to be for their jobs, he was taught at a young age to fly properly. Nonetheless, it was a struggle to reach the altitude he needed to...his mother had taught him to navigate with the sun, but to do that he had to get above the fog. He knew that without doing that, they would be stuck for quite a while.

Miraculously, the young foal managed to get up above the fog. Spotting the sun and memorizing the direction, he quickly worked out where Hoofington was in relation to them. Exhausted from his flight, Wind Rider slowly came back down, and with his friends carrying him, they eventually made it back to town. They were all happy though...Wind Rider had his cutie mark, and they were all back safe and sound.

Before he entered his colt years, like every young pegasus Wind wanted to be part of one of the famous jobs...Weather Patrol, Air Force, or maybe join an aerobatics team. That was as a foal. When his father explained the significance of his cutie mark, a Colt aged Wind Rider decided on a new job. He had come to realize the significance of what he'd done on that hike. Wind, as he got older, had begun to read the news, and he would read many stories of how ponies would get lost, be it at sea, in the forests, or anywhere in between. Knowing that the sea was covered by the ship captains and the harbour patrol, it still left the area between the rivers unpatrolled for lost ponies. Knowing that just wouldn't do, Wind took it upon himself to do something about it.

Within the year, he was being trained for the job of Hoofington's park ranger. His domain was the land, and he was happy. Before long, he got his hooves wet when a couple had gotten lost and the colt had stumbled into the river. His patrol let him spot the filly, and after she'd calmed enough to tell him the story, he'd flown downstream to catch the colt, who was unable to swim. Wind caught him just in time and pulled him out of the water. The young colt was safe, and the young ranger was happy. He had found his calling in saving people.

Nowadays, it's a common sight to see the young stallion gliding slowly, as per his name, patrolling the rivers and woods to make sure everypony gets home safely. The silhouette of a pegasus in a wide brimed hat is now a common sight to travellers and campers outside of Hoofington, as Wind completes his daily patrols.

  3. About myself.: Aspiring Canadian voice actor with a penchant for video games, writing, and stuck in university.

How did you hear about Canterlot.com?: The Google

How did you became a fan of FiM?: Started with episode 9 and went from there.

My one favourite main cast pony?: AppleJack

So, stumbling back from a glorious hot shower on a lazy, cold Saturday morning, a crazy idea hit me. I have no idea where it came from, but I sat down at the computer, and typed into Google a few simple words:

    "My Little Pony RP".

I didn't even need to add the FiM bit. Here I arrived, a character half formed in my mind. I decided to explore the site a little...not gunna lie, tiny bit intimidated...I RP on another site, and occasionally write to vent some pent up ideas that happen to form over the course of the day, but I don't average a lot of words in my posts. Now don't get me wrong or anything, I can write. But whoa, I haven't seen posts this long for a...very long time. Matching what I'm seeing in a small overview of a few RPs may be a challenge...

Bring it. I think I'm up to it.

I'm stuck in university though, and finals are coming at me like a bull on speed, so my posting /might/ be a tad bit slow.

Probably gunna be worth it in the end.

A little expansion to the above about me. I'm Canadian, as mentioned, in our glorious nation's capital of Ottawa. Never really expected to be a brony, to be honest...was on GMod, friend showed me a cool GMod theatre server. Someone cued up Episode 9, Bridle Gossip, to play for the server. Now, at this point I'd had only heard of the show before, seen a few fan art pictures, but never watched it...

Fell in love with the show in ONE episode. Over the course of the week I finished up season one, and have been loving season 2 so far.
