  1. More Folarin?

I love Folarin. How about you stretch out the "Canterlot Pride" sign to be 600x100 (I'm crazy for full siggies).

Otherwise, it's perfect; considering Canterlot has a bit of a thing for the half sigs and the like.

Yeah, I had to re size maybe 3 times to get it to comply with the signature rules. Then I had a problem with the three lines. I'll probably make the Canterlot Pride banner longer. But thats a project for another day.

  2. That. Is pretty got-dang cool. I'm glad you took the advice on the headphones (whether you saw it or not) but I like it!

Maybe...you should slow it down a little though. It seems a tad too fast.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. I certainly slowed it down when making the GIF, but it seems to have went back to its original speed. :/ Will post update later.

  3. Oh my, love that Ponytail on her Mane. Really the concept of pony with ponytail sounds quite meta, but the fact is that it looks great (was young Cadance the first character I seen wearing it)

Very true, but I guess its just a hair/mane style like any other. How could you deny something so cute from adorning the manes and tails of ponies everywhere. :D

Edit: They probably call it something different than ponytail.

  4. but ponies dont have Fingers...

At least Folarin has his magic to use and operate the controller. There's no explanation for the above. None. So if Applejack can hold THREE sticks in her HOOF...Folarin should be able to use a controller with or without magic.

I think Folarin would go wild and stamp his hooves!

Are you totally sure there'll be no more Folarin? He's such a great pony!

I dunno, I guess for now I'll say that he's pending taking a backseat for a while. I want to work on vectoring other OC's, especially ones that I have approved app's for. The last thing I might do with him for a while is finish the picture of him and Rarity.

We'll just have to wait and see because Blank Canvas and a few other of my OC's have been calling my name for months! And they still haven't gotten any artist love.

  5. Photoshop is essentially a raster art program; there is no way to make "true" vectors in Photoshop even with the pen tool.

Okay :( Looks like I'm sticking with Illustrator then. Its unfortunate because they both have there perks and quirks and I have uses for both of them and would like to have one over all program to do the job.

  6. not really, lol. most of my drawings of my OC's such as the detail I gave my character Arrow Plain is based off of models of other ponies in the show. I actually am not really an artist. I'm more of a 'picture manipulator'. For eye gradients, I've always just chosen the primary color for the eye, and make two more shades, one light, and one really light, almost white. And then I just trace over the image I'm using to base it off of.

I wouldn't say your not a real arteest. You kind of do what I do, take models from the show to use as poses for the OC. If you haven't noticed, the picture of Folarin shrugging is actually from one of the very last scenes in the Part of One episode of Pinkie Pie. I just vectored it and changed the color and mane.

His special talent is playing the Atari 2600?

As for eye shading, I choose the base color for the eyes, then a darker shade. In Photoshop I just lock transparencies on the layer the iris is on and use the gradient tool to have the eye shade from the darker shade to the base color (or from the darker shade to transparent). I then use a brush and a lighter shade for the highlight and then a lighter shade still for the secondary highlight.

Well! No...just video games in general. I used an old school controller (Atari) instead of something like an Xbox one because I expect Equestria to have only primitive video game technology. Not High-Def FPS. I wanted him to be as close to the show as possible.

:Edit: Also, it would look kind of weird to have an entire arcade style game as a cutie mark. :/

Ah okay, I will have to try that. I've been using Illustrator. Speaking of which, is there any possible way to stop Photoshop's auto-rasterisation thingy?

  7. he's a cool charry. I would say that his mane and tail color is a bit bright though. Perhaps you can darken the outline a bit. It nearly matches the intensity of the hair color, making it hard to see his hair style.

Ah, I understand what you mean now. Had to think about it for a moment. Thank you for the advice!

I'm also having trouble with the eye gradient as well. Looking at the way MLP eye gradient is, its shaded from the top darkest down to the bottom lightest. Would you happen to have any pointers about that?
