  1. Hey there!

Not asking for change here, per se, but I wish to address the 'total blindness' bit.

Yes, looking into an eclipse is dangerous, however achieveing total blindness would still take quite a bit of time. Most eye damage from the sun usually causes partial blindness, and in most cases of that it's not permanent. Again, not saying you have to change it, but just putting things in perspective so you know what you're going in to :)

As far as the character in general is concerned, I'd just ask for clarification. How does she accomplish day-to-day tasks? How does she get around? Is there a certain way she recognises other ponies (touching their face, speaking, etc. etc.)? Does she use a cane? A seeing-eye-dog? Anything of that nature?

As far as clipping goes, I'm afraid the staff at large has decided that it is not allowed for the Mane RP. I'd ask that you please find an alternative, if not remove it entirely.

Now, despite the stuffola above, this certainly seems like a neat idea! I hope you can clarify/ change the things discussed, and then I'd have no issue whatsoever in giving this a stamp and sending it on its way!

  2. Hello there!

For future reference, application assessment can take some time considering either the backlog of applications piling up (We get on average a half dozen new apps a day, if not more!) or the scarsity of available staff (end of summer things keeping everyone occupied), or both! With these things in mind, it may unfortunately take some time to get to certain applications.

    Now, onward!

An interesting concept, however I'm afraid there are a few glaring things that need to change:

    1. Any mention of blood and gore. You have to keep in mind that this is supposed to be a family friendly RP environment. Think G-rating! That being said, the description of fighting the bore and the mention of being covered in blood needs to go/ be revamped in order to be more appropriate.

    2. I think there's a little too much emphasis on the warrior/ hunter/ killer of the character. Again, think G-rating. Think of a way you can convey your character being a proud warrior without having to involve the dirty, messy business it involves. For example, we have several military characters out and about in our RPs, though we have no combat in Mane RP. They find ways to be soldiers without having to be killers.

I'm aware that this is a griffon and not a pony, however I'm afraid the rules still stand. Besides, take Gilda as an example. She was a griffon too! A fiesty one at that! But it was never really even implied that she belonged to some fearsome predatory race at all. She was just kindof a jerk!

Hope this helps! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask :)

  3. Ruby was excited to get started! She couldn't wait to tell her mom about this field trip! They learned about apple trees, got to take care of a bunny, and now they're gonna buck some apples! The only thing that would make this day perfect would be if Miss Bumpkin had apple pie for the class. But seeing as that was unlikely, maybe she'd be able to convince her mom to make one... Or she could try to bake one on her own! Maybe she'll get a baking cutie mark!

THERE WAS NO TIME TO LOSE!

"Good idea Reno! Maybe I can use my-" Wait, would using magic be cheating? "Maybe I can use my magic too..." she whispered past her hoof, as if it would keep the message from being heard by anypony but Reno. She went on to the closest tree, grinning from ear to ear. "C'mon, Haywire! Lets get us some apples!". With that, she threw her legs back in as hard a buck as the itty bitty filly could muster. a hard thud, but nothing else. But she was not discouraged! Pinchy stood there a moment, making shifty eyes left and right at her classmates before her horn started to softly glow. Maybe she could pull some down with magic! Throwing back another buck, just for show, she at least tried to pull the apples down...

Though all that was heard was about five loud -SPLAT- noises, chunks of apple and applesauce raining down on little Pinchy, who just sat back on her haunches and tried to lick it all up. "Mmm! Oh! Umm... My apples exploded, Miss Cheerilee... Does that count?" She asked her teacher, wearing the most adorable, innocent smile she could muster (which could possibly be considered lethal if one has a weak heart). Of course it was obvious what she had tried to do, but it seemed the filly was going to try and play it off regardless.

She bucked so hard the apples exploded. That's her story and she's stickin' to it.

At last, he had mustered up the courage, the will, and the means to smuggle himself onto a freighter, and traveled to Ponyville. But it wasn't Ponyville he came for. No, his last visit to this humble town was short-lived indeed. No, he was here for something much more glorious. More serene, more graceful, more lovely than the brightest and full field of daisies.

    He came for Miss Rarity.

Tom got to the Boutique door, because magic, but for the darnest reason just... Could not bring himself to knock upon the door and call upon the pretty unicorn. Was it nerves? Fear of being rejected once again? He was her diamond once... Could she ever love him so again? Tom was a secret agent now... Even he knew their love could never be, even if she would take him back into her welcoming embrace. But to simply gaze upon her, to take in her visage just one more time...

Perhaps his heart could finally emerge from rock bottom.

And so he sat there. Silent, and unmoving. A bug crawled across him, though besides that there were virtually no signs of life. He was still as a stone. Likely trying to come up with something to say should Rarity discover him standing there.

  5. I'll attempt to shed some light. If anypony wishes to fill in some gaps I may create, or even correct me if I'm mistaken, please feel free to do so! :)

    1. In terms of creatures to 'get the drop on you' I guess the follow-up question to that would be 'to what means?'. Sure, we've seen some modicum of battle between creatures (kicking a Dragon, charging a Manticore, fighting Changelings), but I don't think creature combat RP after creature combat RP is really what we want to see in the Mane RP. In spirit of the show, we'd like to try and keep things relatively peaceful and fun. Now, in regards to what KINDS of creatures you can encounter, just use what we've seen in the show! Manticores, Hydras, Timberwolves, Parasprites, Cockatrices, and perhaps others I'm forgetting.

Remember, ponies don't have to fight hostile creatures! If fact, fleeing from creatures would create more of a challenge and thrill to the RP, as well as a bond of escaping a threat together (should your character be with others).

    2. I'm not sure on this one. The best I can tell you for 'wild locations' is to wait for the lore to open up again, as we'll be working on a lot of locations and things like that. Perhaps stuff to explore will arise too! As far as traps go, if and when the locations and such to support them come about... I would say passive traps would be acceptable. Trap doors lowering into padded holes, sleeping gas traps, tripwire cages, things like that. Nothing like mines or bear traps or spike walls or things like that.

    3. In regards to OC backgrounds like you mentioned, we're doing our very best to phase them out. In all honesty, we're sick of seeing dead parents xD

Some form of hardship is fine, in order for an OC to overcome some kind of struggle to better themselves, but things that are just downright tragic and become a bummer for the app are no good in my opinion. In regards to violence... Like in #1, 'to what means?'. If it's to maim or kill something, I'd say no every time. But if it was something like martial arts, or sport or anything like that, or even just 'play fighting' or light scuffles (resulting in cartoon dust clouds and the like) are acceptable. Just keep things in a relatively 'cartoony' nature.

    4. There's plenty of stuff to do in Ponyville without the Mane 6! Sure, they're important, but they're only 6 ponies! You can wander the streets, visit the markets, play in the fields, go to shops OTHER than those owned by the Mane 6... pretty much anything you could do anywhere else. It would be like going to the White House and saying 'well I can't do anything because the President isn't here right now' :)

    Hope that helps!

  6. Remington was safe and sound asleep! But now what? The train was still moving! Fast!

Think Pinchy, THINK!!!! Think you adorable little bundle of fluff, sugar and magic! AH-HA! BRILLIANCE! "I have an idea! You guys wait here!"

The little pink unicorn quickly zipped back into the box with all the costumes in it! After some intense rustling, she leap out of the box now donning an adventurer's hat, much like the one Daring Do wears! "It's okay, guys! I read this in a book once!"

Yes, Daring Do would know how to stop a train speeding to her doom! Striking a heroic and fearless pose, she proceeded to the end of the car and opened the connector door. Looking down, she saw a hook, a ring, a lever, and the tracks speeding underneath the train. "WooOOOoooOOOooo~" Seeing the railroad ties speed by under her like that, and she was standing so close to the edge... It almost gave her vertigo! Her legs trembled a moment, almost forgetting her plan entirely, but it all came back to her! Yes!

Reaching down to the lever, she pulled on it with all her itty bitty might! "Erff... Come... on... stupid... lever!" PINCHY! It's not nice to call things stupid. Regardless, the hook that kept the car connected to the rest of the train started to jostle a bit! Pinchy was in need of assistance once again! Could they separate the car, or would they go with the train off some cliff? Maybe?

    Tune in next post!

  7. Ruby Pinch, Element of Adorable, was spectating the the Iron Pony competition! But best of all, she was doing so with her most favoritest ponies in the whole world! They were going to have a picnic and watch ponies get sweaty. Woo-hoo!

She stayed close to her mother and seemed ecstatic to see Quicklime. Mommy's Special Friend seemed very popular with the little filly. "I'm doing super, Miss Quicklime! Thank you! We're watch all these really cool games! They look like fun! Someday, I wanna compete in Iron Pony!" But then, suddenly, without warning:

They came under attack by D'aw!

Reno shouted her name, and Pinchy's smile became impossibly happy! "Reno!" But then he fall at her hooves, waving up while he was on his back and being goofy. She waved back with a free hoof, the other at her muzzle trying to keep herself from giggling too much. "Hiii Reno! I'm glad you're here! Now this day is ever better!" Now she really WAS with ALL of her favoritest ponies in the whole world! She was about to ask her mother if it was of if Reno could hang out with them... When she caught sight of his flank! She gasped, eyes widening just as much as her smile. "OMIGOSH! Reno, when did you get your cutie mark?!" She was so happy for him! Happy and excited! Excited and happy!

It was almost by reflex that she scooped him up in a tight hug, squeeing with joy! "I'm so happy for you, Reno! What's your special talent? When did you find out?!" So many questions would probably be rapid-fired at the little colt, but hey, who doesn't like to talk about cutie marks?

    Occupation: REIN Special Agent

    Cover Occupation: Stock Broker

    Motivation: To be a rock.

Likes: Rocking out, Rock n' Roll, Bouldering, Rarity

    Dislikes: Rock bottom

    Character Summary:

Tom came about a very long time ago. A time when things were less fancy, and more... Not-fancy. A time of non-fanciness. When ponies were all 'Ooo, I'm regal' or 'Ooo, I'm beneath the regal guy!'. Much less cool that what Equestria is today. And he's fine with that.

He was born to Rocky and Pebbles out of Rockland, the famous-but-not-really-famous unknown city of rocks somewhere on the map that became a granite quarry. The construction workers came and they brought great, terrible tools and machines, that reduced his people to slab and dust to be used for countertops, sidewalks, gravel, you name it! It was atrocious. When Tom was old enough, he enlisted, and became a Rok. For the good of his people! Though they were no match for the mighty quarry miners. Despite numerous rock slides, collapses in tunnels, and stubbing of toes, the Roks just could not match the force of these miners. So, Tom fled. He knows not the fate of his parents or his beloved home, by takes joy in knowing they fight the good fight still, despite the odds against them.

After the war, Tom found a fine meadow to rest in, where he remained for... Well, a very long time. Anypony who came to visit him just climbed upon him, or drew on him, or had picnics in front of him, using him for shade. Never did they ask how his day was, or if he had any tales to tell. It was saddening. He felt alone. So very alone. It overcame him with a sadness he felt could never be lifted.

It wasn't until the rise of Discord, however, that he was proven wrong. As Equestria changed, he suddenly found himself lodges in a stone prison (oddly enough). He did not know where he was, but knew he was whisked away by Discord for some evil purpose. Try as he could, he could not escape.

But then, a voice! So... Soft and frail... Beautiful. It shouted something, and then Tom felt the rock crumbling round him, freeing him more and more! Yes! At last he could feel the heat of the sun again! Before he knew it, he was embracing the lovely Miss Rarity of Ponyville. She called him 'a diamond'. The most lovely and biggest she had ever seen. They embraced in the labyrinth, and Tom was convinced he had found true love at last.

They went everywhere together, the lovely Rarity insisting she carry him. But he was fine with that. Every moment with the mare was a moment in heaven. She loved him, and he loved her right back. It couldn't have been any more perfect... Until Discord fell at last. Perhaps Rarity was using him only as a distraction from the stress a discorded Equestria brought upon her. Perhaps she had other, selfish intentions. To this day, he does not know. She refused to speak with him, and cast him aside. She wanted nothing more to do with Tom, and his heart sank like a rock.

Some time later, Tom found work in Canterlot as a vigilante, thwarting crimes of all sorts by just simply being in the way. He could not be moved, his resolve so mighty. He was responsible for the arrests of some of Equestria's most dastardly villains. It wasn't long before the REIN got their eye on him.

They knew it wasn't right. The organization was for ponies, not rocks. But darn it. He had the resolve. He had the courage. He had a stone cold heart like nopony had ever seen before. Best of all, he could blend in to a crowd. They needed someone like him, now more than ever. And so he started his distinguished career as REIN's most celebrated spy and interrogator. Nopony knows who this mysterious 'Agent Granite' really is, but Tom, the innocent worker at the stock office in Canterlot, seems to find a certain satisfaction in hearing the agent be praised for his very hard, very honorable work.

  9. Little Pinchy mirrored Reno's salute to Cheerilee, like the teacher's own little bunny squad! All they needed was a cool action theme song!

If you have a problem...if nopony else can help...and if you can find them...maybe you can hire...The Bunny Squad.

    Da-DaDa-Daa, Da-Da-Daa

    Anywho, back to business!

"Yeah! Rubee the Bunny will be safe with us Miss Cheerilee!" Though in reality, this was probably going to end up like giving a priceless vase to the Three Stooges... Well, they'd never break the bunny, just like they'd never break the vase... But what lengths will these three foals go to in order to 'protect' this innocent little bunny? "Ok, so Reno has Rubee... What're we gonna do first?" she asked the green-haired colt, standing close by him with an excited smile. Have this kind of responsibility was kind of exciting! They get to take care of a bunny! All on their own! The last thing Ruby wanted was to let Cheerilee down, and she wanted to show Reno and Haywire that she could be a big help!

  10. Reveille had done likewise as the Captain, quickly snapping a salute once the Princess' mighty voice announced her presence.

Though upon seeing her negative reaction to being in the dampening field... Well, he was thankful he wasn't a unicorn. While the others went to her aid, he just shot a glare to the recruit in the cell. "Don't go anywhere" he told him sternly. Obviously a joke, but probably more for himself than for Tick.

That all said and done, he joined the others in checking up on the Princess. It was likely he who woke her up in the first place, but hey, that's his thing. He yells at recruits. Then again that wasn't what defined him as a Drill Instructor... at least he didn't think it was. It was probably the most memorable thing for recruits. Bonfire had already voiced an apology, and the Captain had asked the Princess if she was alright... So everything that was there to be said by Reveille had been said already. He stood by Bonfire and kept an eye on Luna, and he would certainly speak if spoken to.

Of course, he just hoped she only came down here to tell them to shut their gobs, and not for anything formal and time-consuming. They still had work to do! Then again, being the Princess of the Night and all that, perhaps she could be of assistance, since this pony that assisted Tick was a part of the Night Watch. With that in mind, he spoke up anyway. "I apologize for the noise, your majesty, though we're attempting to gather information on a security breech last night in the palace..." Hey, why not let her know? May as well keep her in-the-know if she was going to help... IF she was going to help.

  11. What brings him to the surface? He probably would've been offended by the question if he thought she knew better. But how could she? They just met! Not under the best of circumstances either. He explained by pulling at the tan covering over his black uniform. "Any Officer you see in tan is either a scout, team or outpost leader... I'm a scout. Recon for the S.P.P. outpost... As for why I'm so far away from the outpost or why I'm still down here... We'll say there was a complication..." There was a short pause, before a sudden, hostile "No, I don't want to talk about it" from the Captain. Touchy subject.

"What about you...? Judging by the direction you were heading and there being nothing else around here, I'd say you were headed to Friendship City." A nice place. They took him in when he needed, which he is still grateful for (even if he won't admit it to most). A merc going to the city might either be looking for work or supplies, the latter probably more likely to be found. But why assume when he can get the story itself?

  12. Pinchy was still in full panic. She knew her mother would be worried. She'd be beside herself with worry! She had no idea where they were going, and now they were saying the brake was broken? Of course the 'fall off a cliff' bit didn't seem to help much at all, the filly's ears pinning themselves to her head. "Are we gonna die?" she asked blankly, but with a hint of distress, to nopony in particular.

There had to be something they could do... The train wasn't being pulled by anypony, so it had to run on fuel... Maybe if they just leave the engine alone it'll stop on its own? But what if it doesn't? The pegasus suggestion got her attention... But she wasn't very optimistic about it. "I-I don't think any pagasus in here can catch up to a moving train..."

Speaking of pegasus, Remington was calling for help to close the door. It was all she could think to do to run over and start pushing, as if closing the door would unlock some kind of secret mechanism that would stop the train and save them all! She pushed with all her itty-bitty might with Remington, but it didn't seem to be working. They need more ponies!

  13. [sorry for the wait everyone. Summer has been unkind to me thusfar xD]

Gridpoint eased himself out of his battlesaddle, not seeming to mind having someone else volunteer to take watch. He hadn't even had the chance to sit down since they had left Friendship City. He took off his black hat with a yawn, setting it on top of the saddle and reclining against the wall s the griffon introduced herself. "A mercenary... Well, I suppose I'm more at ease knowing there's a competent fighter with me, rather than some hot-headed wastrel..." he scoffed, though his words did still seem sincere. At least there was a good chance Light knew what she was doing. [Enclave Officer] "I'm Captain Gridpoint of the Grand Pegasus Enclave" he introduced, resting with his hooves behind his head and a cocky smile stretched on his muzzle, as if his title were some kind of proof of his superiority. "My traveling companion is... Ugh, I can't recall her name..." he said, referring to the light blue pony sulking in the corner. It seemed she wanted to be left alone. She probably had a lot to think about.

Perking his ears to the gunfire outside, Gridpoint rolled his eyes. "I swear, these idiot wasters know nothing of discretion. I suspect we'll be looking at some new bodies in the morning. Not so bad. Means the wastes will be a bit less crowded..."
