I cried my eyes out. Pretty much spent this week rewatching the show with a stream in preparation for the finale, and I ended up crying more this week than I usually do in a year. 

MLP has been such a massive part of the last 8 years of my life; I never would've journeyed in art and writing without it, I never would've attended cons without it, and I would have absolutely zero of the internet friends that I currently have without it. So, unsurprisingly, I'm feeling a mixture of really cathartic and really depressed feelings even today. I owe so much to this show and fandom that it's nuts.

Whatever may come next, I know I'm not getting off this ride.

Same, I learned how to make pizza dough from scratch from my grandma. She used to work at a pizzeria in this town many years ago and was pretty well known for making people coming specifically for her pizzas.

I'm pleasantly amused when some of my more ship-happy friends provide me with ships, but I don't go seeking them. I'm a fan of FlutterMac and PinkieShy for some reason, the latter one only being because of that Sight for Sore Eyes comic. Sooooo good.

I could be more pleased with shipping... I ordered some pins and was expecting them to arrive before I left for Winter Break, but now I'm at home and they got shipped to college, so I don't have them...

This show really makes me appreciate platonic friendships. I'd rather think of Applejack and Rainbow Dash as competitive best friends than as lesbian lovers, no offense to the LGBT community... But Spike/Rarity is okay, since the show itself has made that a really cute couple (though it'll probably be like any other cartoon romance - they will never actually end up together).

And I did the impossible in my fanfic - Lyra and Bon-Bon as heterosexual roommates.

I feel I need to tell a story....

I was in the U.S. Air Force for over 10 years and during that time I served under a female captain who was very openly living an alternate lifestyle. She lived with another female captain and they had been seen being intimate in public together. All of us serving under her knew it and could care less.

She was the best officer I ever had the privilege to work under. I was a crew chief on the F-15E Strike Eagle and if our crews were instructed to stay and work long hours she would refuse to go home and would come out to wherever we were - in any weather and help in any small way she could.

We would have followed that woman over a cliff into lava if she wanted us to. She was promoted and only then did she leave us and it was a very fond farewell. I do not live an alternate lifestyle but she showed all of us a fine example of what it means to do so and not let it impact your professional life in a negative manner. If anything - she was very happy.

Whether it's 2 guys is of no concern to me. I think we tend to feel female pairings are natural due to the fact - well - imo - women are beautiful creations of nature! - but if a guy feels another guy is that way - more power to them. It's not how I feel but why should I impose my beliefs on another person?

It is entirely possible that I don't like any fluttershy or twilight fics as I have not read many good ones. it seems that most fics are appledash, with some twi-trixie and one or two other parings. I saw on EqD a while ago that someone was doing all possible combinations in the mane 6, and writing a reasnoble sized fic for each.

You probably just never read any good ones, I doubt they could all be bad, right? I dunno, I've never read a Twilight and Fluttershy fic before.

I've seen a few good FlutterDash shippings, based on their Canon relationship (which appears closer than any of the other ponies) it can be taken romantically and work... but ANY romance is tricky to pull off and I tend to agree, it's VERY hit-or-miss

Some shipping works well, that I am fine with (RD and AJ often works well). But some shipping is just plain horrid (anything with either Twi or Fluttershy it seems)! That I cannot stand: the characters are often out of character, the relationship is forced, the structure is rushed everything has a kind of "and they galloped of into the sunset" feel.

I'm talking about fics here, mostly.

I'm kind of eh about shipping myself on MLP:FiM. I don't have anything against it, and some pairings are really adorable; I just really don't care that much.

It shouldn't really be cared that much, because shipping doesn't effect the show at all. Even though BonBon and Lyra have been together a lot more than usual, could it be a sign?!

Meh, So many villians have a hard exterior and a soft nugat inside, Discord we really dont know. In my opinion he could go either way (though hoenstly, I agree - that's how I always play him off in my stories, completely insane with a dash of evil, but he's never killed anyone for better or for worse...)

We don't really know his full story, so he might have done much worse things if he wasn't stopped by the Mane Six.

There was no heart of gold underneath Discord's evil exterior. He was literally a spirit of Chaos. He enjoyed destroying friendships and bringing misery to ponies... Discord ships confound me something awful.

Yup, Discord doesn't have a good bone in his body. If he were to change very SLOWLY, then maybe I'd see it as realistic (well, as realistic as Discord and MLP is anyway).

This. Exactly why I like discord, he's a villian, he knows it, and he's just having the time of his life (and it should be pointe dout, he never did anything that truely hurt anyone, really outside of the reversal of the mane 6 it was all just one practical joke after another with him)

Though because of that I can see the Discopie (Discord and Pinky Pie) shipping actually working with only minor tweaks to his character (namely his powers being scaled back) since both of them love utter chaos.

Discord and Pinkamina Diane Pie (psycho Pinkie) would be a creepy pairing.
