  1. Ah, the age old concept of bringing death into a children's show. I'm not gonna say "It won't happen" because we're not in charge of Hasbro or The hub, so we can't control their action. It MAY be a dumb move on their part, but they have every ability to do so if they wish.

I think if someone HAD to be "let go" from the show (Like if they're dropping a character for some odd reason) it should be Big Mac. Now, let me "elaborate" on that, and maybe some of you will agree with me.

We all know who he is, he's had an episode "centered" around him (Hearts and Hooves) and he's got minimal speaking lines whatsoever. I don't hate him, but he's not my "favorite" character. He doesn't have to "die" either, he could "Move far away" which kids would be perfectly okay with. It would teach kids about people having to "leave" and how to cope with the "loss of someone" while not going directly toward "death." Granted, I'd hate to see any of them leave. But if done right, which I think the writers could, it could actually make the show better, and (hard to do this) more enjoyable. It could teach the Apple family a lesson, and Applebloom a very big one. Which, Big Mac leaving ,COULD be connected to her receiving her cutie mark. That all in a single episode would be fantastic.Heck, even a 2-parter. Pinkie Pie could throw the going away party, MAYBE show a bit more of "Pinkamena" in her, and it could be a very strong, heart-wrenching moment. Exactly what this show needs.

    Opinions?

  2. Are you kidding me, seriously?

Windows live movie maker is a terrible program for making vids, I rather have someone spend $200 for after effects

Windows Live Movie Maker is an excellent program for beginners to use, and it is a very simple interface. The program supports HD video, and up to 320kbps audio, and 1920x1080 resolution (or higher) so it is great for simple editing, image collages, and anything else you don't require special plugins for. Windows 7 can open MPEG video files too, so for most HD videos, you do not even need a codec. Before getting Sony Vegas Pro 11, Windows Live Movie Maker was my best friend.

If you bought a cheap $250 Netbook, then Live Movie Maker is excellent for simple Facebook videos, or videos you captured wit ha webcam and upload to Youtube or the like. Don't go hating free software that does a moderately good job. However, by no means would I recommend buying a Windows PC JUST for Live Movie Maker.

    On to your question, Tales.

Really, it's up to you. We could list a lot of options, but we would need more details. However, to skip over any details, and go right to the core, I recommend Sony Vegas Pro 11. The program is inexpensive IF you can make money with it, and if you can't, then you can do the 30 day trial. I won my copy in a writing contest though, so I didn't have to pay for it. However, I would in a heart beat if it came to that. The program is very deep, and very user friendly. Do you want simple music and video? Done. Zooms, panning, aspect ratio changes? Done. Lens Flare, color correction, shaking camera? Done. If you only need a simple software for editing videos and putting music on top of it, use Windows Live movie Maker, or iMovie, whatever you've got. Otherwise, I'd suggest buying Sony Vegas Pro 11 for ANYTHING other than simple editing ,as if you decide to make better, tougher to make movies, you've got your copy, forever. I'm not exactly sure of the pricing on it, as their website doesn't want to load for me. HOWEVER, I have seen Sony Vegas Pro 10 on ebay for $200-300. So you could snag a copy relatively cheap.

  3. It was removed deliberately.

Please scroll to the bottom of the front page or click here to find the WoE RP sections.

Oddly, none of us thought to contact yourself to tell you.

What I meant was, if someone removed my personal access to it. Not everyones', like, if I were "banned" from the RP section and wasn't notified about it.

  4. Making his way into the seemingly empty thread, Dashie poked his head in through one of the widened seams. "Hello? Is anyone in here, or am I by myself?" he pondered, trying to keep a quiet tone, as if someone was following him.

Scratching his head, and moving onward, he prepared for the worst. What was to come of him if he were to be attacked?

  5. Ah, so I've finally decided to write down this rap that just came in to my head. A bit of it is rough, but this is not revised, and it IS a rough draft. Opinions?

    Pony Rap

You know, people used to say that I'm whack, I'm a phony.

All because I told 'em I don't rap about pony.

Well here I am back, by popular demand,

Dashie and pony going hand in hand.

Well first you've got Rainbow being super fly.

Then you've got Rarity with her bedroom eyes.

Pinkie Pie's throwing a great big party,

Twilight always worried 'bout being tardy.

Then there's Applejack working on the farm,

Fluttershy quivering at the sight of harm.

We've covered Mane Six but we're not done yet,

there's a lot more to go will you make it wanna bet?

Celestia's always acting like a boss,

Rainbow's upset at the thought of loss.

There's a bridge up ahead do you wanna cross?

This is Heads or Tails, will you make the toss?

This is serious, right or wrong.

For Twilight to be sure to sing the right song.

A stunt brought Rainbow a broken wing,

causing her to stay in bed and read.

    Twilight offered her favorite book,

which in turn made Rainbow a stealthy crook.

Sneaking her way back to her bed,

Unknown to her that the place wasn't dead.

    Being caught meant serious time,

for in this neighborhood, stealing was a crime.

So this concludes this pony rap,

    feel free for applause,

    feel free to clap.

    :)

  6. Hello everyone!

As I am taking a break from PMVs, I've decided to start making backgrounds with GIMP. I need to get better at it, and I thought it would be fun.I'd be willing to make background for people, and I won't charge anything at all! (Except a smile!:D) If you would like to view my first work with GIMP, just open the below spoiler!

    faycE.jpg

In order to request a background, just fill out this form, and PM it to me! If you are unsure of certain things, leave it blank.

    BG request form:

    • Vector(S) link:
    • Resolution:
    • Text (any particular text on it.)
    • Other images you want to be used (link):
    • Color theme, and or layout:
    • Any other specifics:

That's about it, just PM me on here, and we'll go from there!

    Any opinions on the background?

  7. Rooted HTC EVO 4G (Though no 4G reception for ~30 miles)

Same exact thing here. Except, well...it's my Mom's phone. She got it for her birthday last Sunday.

:P I've been playing with it and texting my brother lately.

  8. I figured I might as well do this, as I'm in the mood for a "discussion thread" mixed with the need to write, mixed with the need to relieve some "stress" so to speak.

NOTE: As a heads up, a lot of this, most of you MIGHT not agree with. I'm always looking forward to your "opinion", but don't try to change mine. Unless, of course, I get facts wrong, and am misguided.

I will be breaking this up in to "sections" so it is easier for all of you to "discuss" without two topics accidentally linking to each other.

Part I. Bronies, and their "bad name"

So, as the days pass, I find myself getting "sick" of calling myself a brony. Maybe it's that the name has lost its' true meaning, and I feel ashamed by it. If the meaning were to be kept at a simple "Male fan of the My Little Pony series, none in particular" or similar, I would accept this. However, the more bronies "progress" the more it seems they get a bad name. There's a lot of "flaming" bronies, and a lot of "troll" bronies, using things like "umad?" and the like. I'm not saying bronies "HAVE TO LOVE AND TOLERATE" but I don't like the (internet and real life) expressions that I am given when I mention I am a brony. I find myself not using the term more and more as time goes on. There's not much, if anything, that I can do about this. I just wish that I could use the name "brony" without feeling bad about it. It's like, these "fake bronies" are giving the "real ones" a bad name, so to speak. I'm not sure, and maybe it's just me, but I just don't feel like "brony" has the same meaning to it as it used to. To US it does, but to the outside ,it does not. (This is especially apparent when attempting to "convert" someone.)

Part II. How Bronies have settled in.

This is something I realized a few days ago. I had heard Pinkie's line in "Party of One" being "Ooooh! This is my jam!" and it reminded me of "Equestria Girls." I'm not sure if you feel the same, but for me, I get a feeling of nostalgia every time I listen to it. The "phenomenon" that was bronies has really "died down", so to speak. I get the same feeling whenever I am to listen to the original starting, or Alex S's Glitch remix of it. It just reminds me of the past. This is VERY RECENT past in comparison to most of my "nostalgia" too. Like ,I became a brony in...late November? Yet I STILL get the feeling of nostalgia when listening to any of them I mentioned previously. The same can be applied to seeing the now famous "Welcome to the herd" picture of Pinkie Pie in Bridle Gossip. The person who "converted" me showed me it upon telling him I started watching it. I will always remember that picture...Anyways, on to the settling in part. If any of you noticed, theres' not a lot of "News coverage" of Bronies anymore (to be expected) and they aren't "taking over the internet" anymore. I'm sure this is common with all fandoms, I just felt like bringing it up. Sure, more and more bronies pop up nowadays, but I see a FRACTION of the "reaction" and "Caption" images as I did in October (before I was a brony, but knew about the show) I almost feel as though the fandom is slowly starting to die, even with more and more people "converting" every day. It's almost like we're naturally slowly losing interest.

Another thing is: I remember back in the Summer, I had seen a thread on a forum I frequent. "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic" was the title. I was fond of the name, because some members posted a few pics of the show. I tracked down the source, found it, and didn't care for it. Someone said "The episodes can be found on Youtube" and I was instantly intrigued. Just a heads up though, I will pretty much watch anything on Youtube if full episodes are up, and not in parts. I'll save the rest of this for the next section.

Part III. My slow conversion. (Heads up, long)

So, as with the ending of part II, I'll continue it here.

Someone mentioned in the thread that all of the current episodes could be viewed on Youtube, I instantly wanted to check them out. NOT because of ANY influence, other than being able to watch it all without weaving it in parts or torrenting it. Almost like a 20 some minute long "video" Prior to watching it, I didn't "love" Faust's work, because I didn't know she was involved with them until November. I loved them, but not because "she worked on them." So Faust had no influence on m watching it. I had a cold, and I sat down to watch some Youtube. I had a bowl of Chef Boyardee(?) Ravioli. My brothers and parents were occupied outside, and I didn't need to help, because I was sick. I, of course, would have loved to help, but I didn't have the energy. (Heavy lifting, mainly.) Initially, I started watching freddiew videos. Laughing, and enjoying the soothing relief on my throat from the Ravioli, I was ultimately having a good time. I opened another tab to the forum I frequent, and was reminded of that thread. The name hit me, and I looked it up. There it was, episode 1, 22 minutes long, 1080p. (I have a 23 inch LED, so I want all of my stuff in 1080p if possible.) At this point, all I knew was the art style of the "vectors" and that it's relatively new, and on The Hub, which I had at the time. I clicked it, and started viewing. I saw the storybook open, and started to think it would use "stories" for each episode ,and not follow consistency. I am not bothered by this, but I just assumed that's what it was. Roughly 23 seconds in, my younger brother walked in, and I closed it out. I wasn't attached, but I wanted to finish the first episode to see what it was all about. (The tf2 pictures, the images everywhere, and such) I tried to play it off cool, and try to "shoo" him away without giving any sings. Which, it worked, but then my OTHER younger (but older than him, he's Paradox on here) brother walked in, and stayed in for awhile. So I gave up for that day. My cold got better ,and life went back to normal. Plain and dull, but normal. More TF2 videos, more reaction images, and more pony. I was at this point, very intrigued, but never found a time to watch the episodes without being interrupted. It wasn't until that Fall that I was able. (Yes, that long.) It was around the 20th of October, and I set up my downloader, and downloaded all of season one in 360p, that night. The next night, I told my brother. (Who is Paradox on here) I didn't tell him anything like "The animation is fantastic, the show is good, and Lauren Faust made it" like most bronies do nowadays. I simply told him it was made in Flash, and this is the source of all the "ponies" in Team Fortress 2 videos. He agreed to watch them, or at least, accept that I will be watching at least the first few. He stayed and watched. Because of the time jump from Summer to October, I had time to see clips like "Yay!" and such, so I was sort of "waiting" to see them in the show. I set up my media player to play the first 5 episodes, and laid in bed and watched them. It was 11:30 at night when starting. I was starting to feel a "connection" to the character by the end of episode 1, and moreso throughout episode 2. Keep in mind, I was open minded, and I didn't mind the intro, nor the name "My Little Pony." and I didn't watch previous generations, or anything. Anyways, Paradox (Not his real name) goes to bed, and it is 12:30. We finished the first two episodes. But I wanted more. I kept watching ,and I REALLY enjoyed episode 3, as I was already attached and knew the characters. The same kept happening as episodes kept playing. I glanced over at the clock, saw it was 2:00 AM, and said "It's time for sleep." I shut my PC off, and went to bed. Pleased with what I just watched, and not ashamed. Unlike some of you, I didn't "need" the fandom to enjoy this show. I enjoyed it for it's qualities, not the ones of the fandom. Nights pass, and I was watching episodes (2 a night) for weeks. Sometimes repeats if I wanted to. My goal was to be caught up to s2 episode 3 before the release of "Nightmare night" which I saw posted in the thread on the forum. Which, I did not do, sadly. I didn't want to rush them, so I took a few day breaks between episode sessions. Luckily, I was all caught up on s1 before Thanksgiving. Then, enjoying season 1, I started downloading s2, in 1080p this time. I had all of the current s2 episodes downloaded, and started watching then. One a night this time. You can't fully appreciate this shows' "Animation quality" until you watch it in full HD. At this point, it's just after Thanksgiving, and I'm surfing the net. I literally fall off of my chair, and realize. "I'm a brony." something I, at the time, did NOT know the meaning of, but heard it so much. I Googled the meaning, then and there, and realized it.

And, from then on, I've slowly settled in to being a brony, and here I am now.

Part IV. Why I personally do not like "furries" as compared to "bronies"

By far the most "controversial" part of this thread. I, personally, cannot stand furries. NOT the people, either. The furries themselves. I don't mean to hate toward furries, but personally, I cannot stand even the sight of them. I don't know why, but I can't stand half-human morphs wit hanimals. No matter what it is. Even artwork of MLP with "Humanized" characters bothers me so much. Granted, furries do not overrun my life, or m viewing of the internet/ I just am getting tired of mostly seeing half-human FiM artwork. I've not much more to say, and I don't want to be negative, either. I will say one thing- Anyone that considers bronies "furries" are completely wrong in my eyes. I enjoy this show because of the good morals, the good up to date artwork, the good voice actors, some of the good stories in episodes, the clean humor, and the fact it brings back memories of older shows. Now, that means I am a fan of the show. A brony is a "male fan of the show" correct? Well I'm not in love with any of the ponies, so I'm not a furry. So I am confused as to where people think this connection is. For some, who are emotionally connected to the characters, yes, I can see that. But all bronies Are NOT furries!

    /endrant

Ah, there we go .Neatly organized, and it took me a straight 55 minutes to write this. I do not mean to offend anyone, nor stir any drama.

    Discuss.

  9. Ah, something some of you didn't quite "catch" here. If we're getting more "accurate" toys this Fall, including a correct-colored Celestia and Nightmare moon toy, then there's a chance Hasbro will want more screen time with them. Their release in the fall would allow them to have an episode or two in season 3, as well. Since, if Season 2 finishes in Spring, and the break is in Summer, that brings us to...Fall

We don't know WHEN the new Season starts, but it has to be Mid-end Summer or later. Which will bring us closer to the new toys' release date. So there is a major chance that we could see more screentime with nightmare moon, which I'm always looking forward to. And of course, if they did this, they would have to tie in her "return" to somewhere, correct? That would have to be Princess Luna.

Of course, all of this entire topic is speculation, but this is just my input! :D

  10. I'm not disagreeing with you, by no means am I. I just can't see what the POINT OF a group getting together to HATE something is. If a group is together, they can have fun, no matter what it is. I just don't understand why. It's sort of the "Anti-matter" effect to bronies. The "Anti-bronies" if you will. I know they exist, I just, I dunno. The time you spend HATING something could be spent liking something. If you're that devoted to hating something, why not be devoted to something that you enjoy instead? When a group of people agree on something, the moral level is usually generally high. So they feel better, just like bronies do, in the reverse situation. (When we LIKE something) I just don't see why people want to spend so much time hating something, but not doing the same with things that they do enjoy.

A few minutes after posting this: I realized.

Maybe the haters aren't exactly "haters" but rather, they enjoy being in a community together ,"hating" on something. Of course, this applies to the ones that keep their hate away from the other part of the fandom. But I think that a lot of haters enjoy hating something, if enough of them are in a group. SO really ,they aren't much different than bronies. They just really dislike it, rather than really like it.

  11. Sure it is unlikely that we have any haters on this forum, but I was involved with two other hatedoms, and got to interact with them at a personal level. Both were full of logical and normal people who debated and discussed just like we do. They had chat forums that had nothing to do with the theme of their communities, and they occassionally had admiration for something that the creators did right. Furthermore, many of them were fans at some point during the run, and fell away for some reason or the other, but still feel emotionally invested in the work.

Personally, I have not see any of the hatedom for MLP, but I find it hard to believe that ALL of it is as negative and unproductive as you guys are making it out to be. I don't like MLP to be cool. I like it because it makes me happy to be in a community with people that have similar interests as myself. Hatedom communities can be the same.

I'm not disagreeing with you, by no means am I. I just can't see what the POINT OF a group getting together to HATE something is. If a group is together, they can have fun, no matter what it is. 12. Ah, you see. This is a very bad topic to chat about, because of ONE simple factor.

We do not have ALL the points of view here.

You're on this forum, meaning you enjoy the show. Anyone on this forum enjoys the show, or at least what has come from the fanbase. Either way, everyone here likes something related to FiM.

In order for a topic like this to be thoroughly discussed, we would need someone who seen it, but doesn't like it, a hater, someone who loves it ,and someone who's never seen it. (Or a few of them) to completely debate this topic. We can't talk about WHY the "hater" group hates it, because we're not a part of it. I do see your point, and besides a few grammatical errors, you were spot on. I'm not just going to say "Hate always exists" because that's obviously known here.

The idea of "bandwagon" is true, but ONLY to those that have NOT watched at least an episode of the show. For those that HAVE seen it, and can legitimately form an opinion, they should not be considered "bangwagoners" from the beginning. Of course, if they HAVE seen it, but start flame wars, and troll about it, they're considered haters. (Read on to understand)

Rather, they are in their own group. Once they've watched it, they go "up a level" so to speak. Where if they don't care for it, they're neutral. If they hate it, they hate it. NOT "haters" because if you don't like it, you're not a "hater" only someone who HATES it from the start without giving it a chance. And of course, there's bronies in there too. You have to remember this.

All of the "haters" hate it to be cool. There are no exceptions. You're not getting rid of it by hating it, you're not making the brony fandom decrease, you're not having any affect on it. Now, these are not to be confused with the ones that just "really dislike it", either. I mean the ones who will flame bronies, spam their threads, and get pissed off very easy at the first sight of it. If you legitimately HATE the show, you're not a "hater" you just dislike it severely. Someone who cannot stand a vegetable, isn't a "hater" of that vegetable, is he? Someone who constantly rants ABOUT the vegetable, would, however, BE a hater. The problem with the Youtube comment wars, is that ,why are the "haters" going to the videos in the first place? to start a flame war, to be cool, to troll, etc. They're trying to impress their online pals. Which never really works, to be honest. Of course, this holds true to every "fandom" not just FiM's fanbase. There's nothing you can do except keep converting people, and decrease the SIZE of the haters. They will always be there, but will very slowly decrease over time for each fandom, as they get bored and give up. THIS WILL ONLY HAPPEN IF you ignore them, though. You cannot argue with them, continue their flame wars, or fall victim to their "trolls".

I think that's enough for now.
