It was evening in Ponyville. The sun had already set and the moon had risen in the sky. In town many of the ponies had already closed up their businesses for the day save for a few eating establishments. Many of the ponies were at home with a few still out in town talking to each other. Yet there was one pony who seemed to stand out in this setting. In the town square, seated on a bench, was a colt, young enough that he received his cutie mark about a year ago. In the moonlight his white pelt and silvery mane and tail seemed to be illuminated. He appeared to be deep in thought about something as he looked up at the moon. "What is my purpose," he asked himself, "I got my cutie mark, and I know my talent, but now what? What am I supposed to do with creating light other than helping ponies see?" Frustrated he put his hooves to his head. "I wish there was somepony who could do the same light magic or somepony who knew about it to teach me some things."

Picked Celestia as recurring supporting cast, although Big Macintosh comes in as a close second. Picked Luna for Limited, and hopefully she'll get a more prominent role in the future. Lastly picked Spitfire because she has an interesting personality.

Such was the candy conundrum, deciding what to choose first. Sweet Surprise knew about it. The more choices, the longer it took for a pony to decide unless they already had something spesific in mind. Finally Octavia settled not just on one piece of fudge, but all types. "Wow! A flavor of every fudge. That's a good choice. I think the best way to try something new is to try all of it. Otherwise if you don't try it, you never know, you know?" With that she took out of the case three different types of fudge. "Now before eating this, there is an official way to eat fudge. I just thought of it today, but I'm trying to make it popular throughout Canterlot. Hopefully I can tell Princess Celestia or Princess Luna about it one day. Anyway I must say this procedure in traditional Canterlot voice, so here it goes." With that she cleared her throat and began: "Place thy fabulous fudge square into thy mouth. Then upon holding the fudge in thy mouth, counteth to three. Not four. Five is completely out. Two is also out unless counting to three. Then you may digest the remnant of thy fudge." Sweet then switched to her non-Canterlot voice tone. "So there you go. Enjoy!"

"Hiya Octavia," Sweet said pleasantly to her. She was at first a bit surprised at the fact that Octavia didn't have many sweets, but then again few ponies had that many sweets compared to Sweet Surprise. "Don't worry. I'll turn you into a candy consuming conisouier. But first, what type of fudge do you want to try? There's peanutbutter, milk chocolare, and my favorite dark chocolate."

Awww... That is cute but sad.

Name: Sky Flare (Sky for short) Gender: Male Age: Stallion Species: Pegasus Coat: White Mane/Tail: Red/Orange mix. His mane is short and spiky, resembling flames. His tail has a similar style. When he flies, his mane and tail creates a fiery contrail similar to Rainbow Dash. Of course it isn't real fire! Eye Color: Orange Physique: Sky has a fairly athletic body created from his very active life. Sky is not the fastest flyer. He is however quite agile and can fly almost effortlessly. He can perform several astounding aerial moves like the Sudden Stop, the Aerial Recovery, and the Sky Trot, and he is always trying to create new ones. Residence: Cloudsdale Occupation: Stunt Pony, but also helps with his father at the Flight School by helping other ponies to learn how to fly effectively. Cutie Mark: A red and orange loop, representing his talent for stunts and flying. History: Born in Cloudsdale, Sky Flare grew up with two loving parents. His father worked at the Cloudsdale Flight School while his mother worked at the snow department of the Weather Factory. Sky Flare at first had difficulty flying, lacking the courage to do so. Because of this, he was often teased by his friends who already could fly. He also felt that he was disappointing his family, namely his father. This all changed when he met a member of the Wonderbolts who told Sky to trust in his abilities. This Wonderbolt explained that all he needed was a little courage. This act allowed him to gather the courage to fly, which he astounded all of his friends by effortlessly pulling off a midair loop, giving him his cutie mark. Although his parents were at first reluctant of having their son be a stunt pony, they realized that talents were there for a reason. Every day he spends practicing, perfecting old stunts, and trying to create new ones. Sky Flare realized that he could use his stunt abilities to not only help himself but to help others. He then decided to become a flight instructor and the Cloudsdale Flight School with his father, teaching other ponies how to fly well. His temper and impatience sometimes caused problems teaching ponies who are scared or may not be the best flyers, but he is learning how to calm himself. The one thing Sky does lack is friends. He has acquaintances, but never seemed to find a best friend. Part of it could be his competitive nature. Part of it could be his impatience and temper. But Sky knows he has to do something or risk being alone, something he would hate worse that not being able to fly. Sky also has something of a fan crush with one of the Wonderbolts named Spitfire. It's no wonder since she seems to have a similar personality as Sky and a fiery mane and tail as well. Like many Pegasus ponies, Sky wants to eventually be a Wonderbolt where he can really let his aerial talents shine! Charcter Summary: Sky is a very loyal pony, willing to help ponies with anything they need. He especially likes to help ponies recognize their talents. He is very friendly and very protective of his friends. Sky can act cocky and boisterous at times, and can be impatient especially when he has to wait. He can have a fiery temper when provoked too much. Sky flare enjoys flying, practicing aerial stunts, races and making new friends. Sometimes he lacks control while flying at high speeds, causing him to periodically crash. He does't like when he is forced to slow down, having to wait long periods of time, losing multiple times, being alone, and not being able to fly.Sky Flare wants to become a household name with his stunts, and like many other pegasus ponies, he dreames of being part of the Wonderbolts.

Sweet Surprise bounced around the store making sure things were neat and orderly when she suddenly stopped and saw a mare who seemed to apprear out of nowhere. Of course she appeared from somewhere, and being a unicorn she couldn't teleport so obviously she must have entered in unnoticed. "Oh hello there," Sweet Surprise said as she took hold of Octavia's hoof and began to rapidly shake it, "Welcome to Mr. Cocoa's Candy Creations. My name's Sweet Surprise. I do shake you warmly by the hoof and welcome you here. I don't actually own the store, but I do work here. Oh, and I have something for you!" With that Sweet Surprise let go and ducked back behind the counter until she reappeared holding a tray of fudge squares. "Today I'm giving out free fudge. They're so soft and yummy and make you feel good in your tummy! So, wanna try one?"

Sweet Surprise ventured through the snowy fields towards the edge of the Everfree Forest. She had seen the pagent and now she was going to do another of her favorite pasttimes: seeing the Everfree Forest Light Show. It was a pasttime for her as her parents started taking her there ever since she was a foal and able to make the journey. She loved the way the light seemed to be dancing through the trees. "Oh wow," Sweet Surprise said as she saw the lights in the distance, "These light look even prettier that last year! I think that there is double the amount this time." She quickened her pace towards the forest edge when suddenly she tripped over a hole and fell face first into the snow. "Ouch! Maybe I shouldn't be running in the snow."

I just downloaded GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) a few days ago and just wanted to get anypony's feedback on it if they use it. So, do you like it? Any problems you see with it?

Um somehow the tag is showing Zebra, but Guiding Light is a Unicorn, so if that can be fixed it would really be appreciated.

One day when there was a new moon Guiding Light on his way home wandered into part of the Everfree Forest and got lost. He began to despair and cry when suddenly his horn began to glow. He then produced his first ball of light which allowed him to return home and earning him his first cutie mark. Later, when Nightmare Moon escaped and plunged Equestria into endless night, Guiding Light was at first frightened. Then gathering up all of the courage he could muster, Guiding Light tried to calm his frightened classmates and used his light to guide them to safety. This earned him some fame among his classmates and his teacher, for his bravery. Personality: Quiet and a bit shy, it is difficult for Guiding Light to make friends. However when he does, he can be fiercely protective of them. Guiding Light is able to create small balls of light in the air and move them around. As his skills progress, he will be able to create bigger lights and more of them, even beams of light. It does have its weaknesses as prolonged use of it can make him tired, disoriented or ever unconscious as he is just learning. He also has minor telekinetic skills like most unicorns.He is a bit of a pacifist, preferring to talk things out rather than fight. This is due to in part his ability which although powerful is not very combative. He isn't afraid of the dark but of what lurks within it especially if he is alone.Ironically, while he dislikes the night, he realizes that his ability is most effective in the night. In the day time, his powers are essentially useless. Recently Guiding Light is trying to find out his purpose in the world, and how his skill can be used. he would like to someday be accepted to Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. He would love to have somepony teach him how to use his abilities.

In Canterlot there was a rather unusual looking building. The two story building was built to look like a gingerbread house with brown walls decorated in oversized candies like peppermints, gum drops, licorice, and other assorted goodies. It looked good enough to eat, and oddly enough one pony actually tried to take a bite out of the corner which resulted in a rather unpleasant trip to the dentist. The sign above the door was done in a similar style and proudly proclaimed: Mr. Cocoa's Candy Creations Below that another sign was attached: Grand Reopening Sweet Surprise was excited for this day. She spent days working with Mr. Cocoa to plan this reopening, and now the time had finally arrived. She trotted, no more like hopped, down the stairs and through the massive candy kitchen into the store area. There were many shelves which lined the wall, each featuring a different type of candy. One table had several containers where ponies could choose loose candy and fill a bag. At the counter there were glass disdplay cases holding even more candy. "Alrighty," Sweet said to herself as she looked around the room, "Lollipops in their holders? Check! Candy and Chocolate Apples? Check! Loose candy? Check! Chocolate bars and truffles? Check. Fudgealicious fudge? Check! Adorable and Sweet Candy Seller? That's me!" With that last part she let out an excited giggle as she walked to the sign in the door and flipped it from Closed to Open and dashed behing the counter. "Let the Grand Reopening begin!"

So I recently got my first pony approved (Yay!) but I noticed that it still says I can't post a new topic in the Eastern Side (Canterlot) area of Equestria Mane RP. I was trying to make Sweet Surprise's candy shop thread. Do I need a certain post number to activate that feature?

Additional information! The Story of Mr. Cocoa. Note: Mr. Cocoa would be an NPC, making some cameo appearances. He will not be a secondary character. Mr. Cocoa is an older unicorn pony with a greying mane and wearing glasses. He, like Sweet Surprise, dreamed of owning a candy shop in Canterlot. Fortunately with the help of his family and friends he was able to open up his shop where he has been selling sweet treats ever since. But the happiest day of his life was when he met Mrs. Cocoa, a pony who equally loved making candies. The two were married and tried to have children, but were unable to do so. Nevertheless they devoted their lives to making other children happy with their candies. It was almost as if every foal that wandered into the shop was treated like their own child. Sadly, Mrs. Cocoa passed away, leaving Mr. Cocoa distraught. He was thinking about closing down his store due to the painful memories when he met Sweet Surprise, a pony who shared an equal love of candy to him and his wife. This gave him new inspiration. He decided not to close down the store but to teach Sweet Surprise. He even had Sweet live in a room above the shop that was intended for a child they never had. Although Mr. Cocoa would never admit it, he somehow sees Sewwt Surprise as the daughter he never was able to have.

Heh. Well Sweet is always looking for new friends and new adventures, so that would be cool.

When she gets excited, especially when talking about candy, her speech will go into a super fast form that some ponies may have trouble understanding. She has a great talent for creating candies, raising it to an art form She does get catatonic if she is yelled at or made fun of to a very extreme degree (think Pinkie pie from Party of one). This results in her isolating herself from everypony, rarely talking, and losing interest in things she loves like candy making. Basically it's the opposite of her normal hyperactive self. It takes her some time to recover from this state.Sweet Surprise is motivated by spreading her joy of candy to other ponies and making new friends along the way. Eventually she wants to own her own candy shop and deliver candy to most if not all of Equestria. With the help of Princess Luna she learned to confront her fear and banish her negative self making her feel more confident in making friends and who she was.

Ah, the most important question. Well first of all I grew up in the 1990s when cartoons were fairly good. They had great characters, a moving plot, and episodes that made you want to watch again. Then sadly I've seen many shows sacrificing quality for quantity, which for a person who likes good stories was upsetting. Then one day on Deviant Art I saw a plethora of pony pictures (say that ten times fast) and decided to see what the fuss was about. My first episode was Winter Wrapup, and right there it got me hooked. The show led to collecting art, to creating fanart and fanfics, to even joining RP sites (yes I'm on another RP site besides here). I guess that's a good enough explanation.
