  1. Yeah, I am too. I wish I had gotten into him sooner, but alas... it took NC and Batman to get me to watch his stuff. His videos are a plethora of information and quite funny as well.

If it wasn't for him, I'd not have known to support Galaxy Girls (which sounds amazing BTW)

I look forward to his work on MLP:FiM episode reviews.

  2. Celestia obviously can tell the letters apart by scent. Applejack is apple-scented, Pinkie smells like frosting, Rainbow smells like um...clouds...Rarity like fancy perfume, Fluttershy like animals (lol), and of course Twi's letter will have lots of glitter on it. Also, Celestia will know her hoof-writing (even though Spike writes all the letters). Mystery solved.

Yes, I'm sure Celestia in all her wisdom can discern writing styles between ponies. She certainly knows how Twi writes, and the others aren't hard to figure out. Rarity would be most formal, Rainbow would be most forward... and so on. Its more the method of dictation than the hoof (or mouth/horn?) writing of the individual ponies. I think Twi signs hers because she is like a grad student writing to her mentor.

  3. Honestly, this show has influenced my outlook most of all. I'm usually flatlining in terms of emotion, not happy but not exactly sad. This show pretty much taught me to look at life in a bit of a brighter light and to see the joy that life brings, and that even the most mundane things can be an adventure. Something that I had forgotten from the days of yore.

Really the lessons of friendship are nice, but not why I watch the show, though I have to say I'm happy that there is a show that really stresses some of these things. I miss the 90s and 80s where morals in shows was practically a given. Now shows don't teach kids much of anything past a certain age and only seek to entertain. For a show to be able to do both is a sigh of relief imo.

Basically this show has, put simply, made me happier in the simplest of ways. And the show it self makes me feel happy without straight up comedy or crazy destruction (well the comedy does make me laugh, but the happiness I feel after an episode isn't a comedy derived happiness if that makes any sense)

  4. Now, if this was the real world, the brothers would rent the land to the Apple family, and make them work and produce the cider, while the Flimflams would take 70% of the profits. And if they AJs didn't like it, the brothers would just hire somepony more desperate than them.

I much prefer the way they do things in Equestria.

In the real world a lot of different things would have happened that didn't for a bet of that magnitude. Verbal agreements don't fly with land as lawyers are needed to do the deeds and working permits. ..(I could be mistaken, but that is my understanding of land changing hands especially for farming and construction. )

  5. I believe that letter makes her a God now, does it not? http://www.canterlot...estiagod-canon/

Anyway, mixed feelings about the letter, personally. On one hand, it was hilarious but on the other, this is only like the 3-5th episode (depending on your opinion of a few eps, I suppose) and it's explicitly a repeat of her first lesson? That makes me feel the writers really don't want to develop AJ and this is just their way of showing it. Although I've also thought of the possibility that it was just a clever play on her element, lol.

Wait, why am I overthinking a little girl's cartoon again?

The lesson was about integrity, which she already had. The other thing was just a call back. Really as others have said, it was more of a lesson for Ponyville rather than the mane 6.

  6. I would have to disagree since the mugs in the episode almost hint at the possibility. Plus, supposedly in European countries, most apple cider is alcoholic.

In the show, it's immature to say that it is 100% an alcoholic beverage. But the joke of apple cider being a spiked drink isn't that hard to understand.

But it isn't the same in America nor Canada to my knowledge. Though the knowledge of cider being possibly alcoholic is there for most people, it isn't the inclination to assume it in this instance.

Though they did allude to it being addictive. I mean, just LOOK at that queue.

Man the Apple family makes some really addictive products... First the Zap Apple Jam and now this? You know what? Screw the alcohol, they put straight up drugs in their product to build dependence! :P

  7. I do not disagree with much of what you said here. On the surface, much of what happened in the episode is satisfying.

My point is the terribly irrisponsible risks that were taken and completely overshadowed by a suddenly confidant AJ. She claims she learned nothing and knew it all along, but that is bull. She was worried for much of the episode, and was resigned to closing the farm all the way up to the point that Flim and Flam threw away their advantage in the home stretch.

Even when I worked for , an accident that created a "near miss" was enough to inspire changes to protect the workers. Fools learn from disaster. Wise people learn not just from disaster, but also from the warning signs of disaster, and the disaster that missed you by a hair's bredth. The idea that nothing was wrong at the end of the episode was shocking and irresponsible to the n-th degree. The volume of fulishness is second only to the hubris displayed by Granny, AJ and AB.

Furthermore, the Apples are businessmen, and have a great deal of experience. If one of their products perpetually casues angst among their consumers, then they are setting themselves up for someone to muscle in on their business. "If you don't take care of the customer, someone else will". IT IS THEIR FAULT THAT THIS CONFLICT AROSE. They had the demand, and the resources to pull off the supply, but they never acted on it until the farm was at stake. That was waiting way too long.

Perhaps this was the first year that they had that close knit friends that were willing to help them and it never occurred to them to ask. I could so see a return down the line where they go to twilight and the gang to help in such a situation or even the next year.

If money was that tight with them they perhaps couldn't afford to hire extra help.

  8. You come in peace? Well live long and prosper my friend!

Welcome to Canterlot, and believe me many people's situation of getting into the fandom is the sane as yours. There is just something about the show.

I hope you enjoy yourself in this lovely community we have here.

  9. Ohh thanks!! I used to draw all the time as a kid, but I stopped for like 5 years. ;o;

Then I realized my boyfriend had a tablet and I'd never played with one before

so I started drawing with it around Christmas.

Sooo.... Only about a month now?

I think you has "the talent." That is pretty amazing for someone who hasn't done it in years and has had no formal training. Fact: you are better than one of my friends who went to a top art college for animation and lived and breathed art for 4 years.

  10. In my head, it is quite simple... My favorite music is "good" music and my least favorite music is "bad" music. I don't even consider genre in my head.... I know what I like and it is as simple as that.

Now to complicate things, people don't accept that, saying its too subjective and that I need to be more objective (I think they are jealous over the simplicity of my system), so I shall attempt to convey my standards.

To start I don't discriminate on genre or country of origin, be it classical, electronica, rock, hard core, metal, punk, jazz, blues, country, rap... (you get the idea) All is fair game. My biggest requirement for liking music is talent. I do prefer the presence of instruments, but my interest in electronica has lessened that requirement. Creativity is another, chances are if I feel like I have listened to the song before but know it isn't the same one (so not a cover or a remix), I won't like it. Now the country thing is interesting for me, I don't have to be able to understand the lyrics to enjoy the music. It is my belief that vocals are an instrument all their own able to convey emoting and meaning without words being understood. That said, anything that clouds the voice's ability to convey said emotions annoys me (ie autotune).

Hm what else... I'm very picky with rap and related music. I can't say that I absolutely hate it, because I have liked rap, and think some is rather moving and meaningful. But most modern popular rap, I loathe. I am not that into the underground scene, but my friend has shown me some tracks that I have enjoyed.

A few of my current producing favorite artists are Stevie Salas, Steve Vai, B'z (japanese), Hiromi (Japanese as well, but lack of vocals make that moot), Larry Carlton and Wayne Krantz.

  11. Oh thank Celestia i saw this in advance this time!

Of course I'm going! Heck i'm a Star Trek fan - i'd go just to see John! My daughters and future son-in-law will be with me - as the event draws near I'll put up details such as where we are staying.

Yeah I'm going to wait a bit to see how finances are, but I'm almost certainly going if only for John and Lauren. I mean you don't even have to like mlp to appreciate those two.

  12. I did Dye my Hair Bright Blue a few years back, I'm not a Punk neither did I want to do some Statement or whatever... I just felt like it would be fun and I went to a convention without having any cosplay in a group of cosplayers, to not be left out I just dyed my hair Blue... I left it like that for 2 months though xD

anyway I just noticed most of the Stallions in MLP seem to have rather Longish Hair compared to the Hairstyles you would see in reality ^^ I like xD

I think I qualify as one of those stallions :P. And in all technicality all I'd need to do is do my bangs and I could easily make my hair like AJ. I would not do such a thing though. I like my hair the way it is, and until I join the military I won't be making any drastic changes.

  13. I only have one issue with Tapatalk, and I'm not actually sure if it is the app of the board itself... I can't see certain forums, only the subforums (Ie Chit Chat, I can only see and post in 18+ unless I am accessing the posts from unread)

I have the same issue on another forum. So I'm thinking its a forum issue not a Tapatalk issue, because three other forums are fine in that regard. (Both are IP.Board btw, so it could be issues with IP.Board :P)

EDIT: This issue has been fixed. No more issues. Perhaps lack of poll voting, but that is a trifle.

  14. Oh god yes, doctor who is awesome!

It feels like i'm the only one who's favourite doctor is Christopher eccleston though

Don't get me wrong i loved both tennant and matt smith but eccleston really made me believe he was the doctor, that he really was 900 years old.

Also between David Tennant and Matt Smith. David tennant was clearly superior in my opnion. Not saying i don't like Matt Smith.

Eccleson had the best season. There wasn't a bad episode in the bunch.

Tom Baker is my favorite though overall. I also liked Colin Baker and thought it a shame the writing sucked during his time as the doctor.

  15. I honestly couldn't imagine anyone having rainbow hair like Dash. Derpy is more plausible since she's blonde...

My friend did that though... granted she didn't have all the colors, but she did have most and it looked pretty hot on her. I would try to find a pic of her when she had it, but I feel like it would impede on her privacy.

  16. I'm starting to think there is a correlation between choosing the two... Cerrychanga begets a choice in Kumquat and Chimicherry begets choice in picklebarrel. This is just an assumption though based on responses here and my own choice (also cherrychanga and kumquat btw <3)

Would make sense since they are almost identical too... :P

If I had the materials I'd totally try making a cherrychanga too... looks delicious. :) (This is despite the fact that I suck at cooking)

  17. I agree with weesh here. And you have obviously not been or known a grad student on a deadline. Twilight's reaction that entire episode looked to me how a college student who has a very prestigious mentor, whom she has never disappointed before, would react if she failed to deliver for the first time ever, because when your mentor is that prestigious there is always someone behind you waiting for you to fail and take your place. That is how I saw it at least.

And yeah, people swear to the highest power or anything that is sufficient in their mind to swear upon (parent's graves are popular).

  18. What EoL said! Well at least we know who to go to with ideas and suggestions now :).

This is normally where I say welcome to the herd, but I don't feel right doing it. And now I'm going to try compiling the list of possible people whom your father can be and then see if there is enough info to deduce whom he is. To IMDB and Wikipedia! *1960s Batman scene change music plays*

Got it, thank you IMDB! Please give Mr Ridd Sorensen our regards and thanks for working on this show. :)
