  1. A pale yellow unicorn with a straight red mane with a few white stripes, and ruby red eyes seemed to appear out of nowhere, and immediately began on a rather long winded rant.

"Well, the answer to your circuit transfusion problem is quite simple, really. First, you'll need to take the main circuit board, attach a variable transformer, the attach variable resistors on each side of the transformer, then you have to cross-connect a single automatic variable three-way switch connected to an auto-current limiter to both resistors, then you have to connect a capacitor-diode-diode pattern on resistor 1, and attach a thirty watt tube transistor to resistor 2, then you have to connect all that in a complex parallel circuit."

The mare remained silent for a moment, holding a pondering look on her face, then randomly squeaked.

    "Hi! I'm Midsy!"

A loud smack could be heard across the club, as Bass slapped a hoof to his face.

  2. Bass managed an awkward smile, and rubbed the back of his head, his heart racing as the mare spoke to him. "Truly a pleasure to meet you, Miss Persnickety. I'm not actually touring, so to speak. I'm more of an independent musician. I take jobs where I can, and opportunity just happened to open the door to a local bar, here in the city. I'm actually from Fillydelphia. And what, may I inquire do you do?"

  3. Bass turned his head, upon hearing his name, setting his coffee on the counter, the special yellow lenses only accentuating the silver flecks that made his eyes look like a starry night sky. His eyes shot open when he saw the same mare that Midsy was going to talk to standing right behind him, a blush covering his face, his voice beginning to carry a heavy note of either embarrassment, stress, nervousness, or a giant mixture of the three. " Uhm… hi. I'm Bass." Yeah, definitely not one of Bass's smoothest moves, but there was at least a reasoning behind it. Although the musically multi-talented Pegasus was able to overcome his own physical limitations to learn to play multiple instruments with the precision and style that he did, yet the one thing he two things he couldn't beat were his past, and the mental and emotional strain that it had put on him. Ever since that fateful day, Bass was never able to go into his own home studio without shedding a tear for the mare from his past. After all, the studio used to be her room.

  4. Midsy, who had quickly slipped out, while nopony was looking, stood outside, and watched the mysterious pony come outside, and look at the clouds intently. She stood for a moment, wondering what the pony was looking at, then decided to look up at the clouds herself. She gasped dramatically as she saw the pink, fluffy clouds. There had only been one other time that she had seen those kind of clouds, before, and she knew what that meant. Yep. CHOCOLATE RAIN! Midsy, somewhat excited, yet somewhat uneasy, galloped over to the strange pony.

"Hey, Mister! Why are the clouds all pink and fluffy? Is it gonna rain chocolate milk like that one time, cause that would be SO AWESOME!"

Yes, Midsy was a cheerful one. Her personality was always that way. To some, it reminded them of a bubbly pink mare that they had said that they had met in a place called Ponyville.

  5. It wasn't very often that Deep Bass was given the opportunity to take a vacation. Especially not bby himself. It was a strange, yet nice change for Bass to get some time to himself, since he was normally hanging around with his friend Mid Wobble, or his sister. It was nice to spend time with his friend and his sister, but occasionally, it was nice to get a little alone time... even if he was still technically working. Yes, even though Bass was on vacation, he was only in Stalliongrad to play a few shows at the local coffee houses.

As Bass cantered through the streets of the snowy city, his guitar case slung over his back, he was beginning to wonder if he was lost. He looked around, watching the other ponies going up and down the streets, wondering if he should ask for directions. After a second of internal debate, he decided against it, and instead kept going. Though he had spent his life in Fillydelphia, and the surrounding cities, Bass was always fond of the snow. In fact, he always wished that Winter never ended, and that the beauty of the snow would never fade. After a few minutes of aimless wandering, Bass finally stumbled upon a small club, and decided to go inside.

Once Bass had made it in the door, he began noting the surroundings through his amber aviators. The whole interior consisted of red walls, and blue tables, chairs, and booths, complete with a neon blue carpet. Bass didn't even think to look at the name of the club before entering. Not like it really mattered, to be honest. Bass quickly took a seat, and waited for the waitress to come over. As he waited, Bass reached into his saddlebag, and pulled out the letter from the club, and read over it, to himself.

"'Dear, Deep Bass...' blah blah blah, 'We, the management at the Blushing Ivory...' Ah! That was the name of the club! The Blushing Ivory... Hm... Maybe somepony, here knows where that is."

"Good morning, sir. How may I help you, today?"

Bass looked up, and saw the waitress pony, and offered a kind smile. He pondered for a second, and answered in the kind of polite tone that only the long humbled son of an opera singer, and a jazz musician could muster.

"Good morning, ma'am. I would very much appreciate a glass of hot black tea, if you carry it."

The waitress smiled, and nodded. "Of course, sir. I'll have that right out to you." Then, the mare cantered off.

Waiting patiently for his tea, Bass looked around at the other ponies who had wandered into the club that morning.

  6. Well, as Artax said, if you're not willing to put money into it, you won't get anywhere without learning how to severely tweak what you have. For instance, since I finished my first decent track, I've poured at least 500 dollars into equipment, and software, and even so, I need more. Right now, I'm working with Fruity Loops Studio 10, Fruity Loops Studio Mobile (on the iPhone), a Korg Minikey2 midi controller, Dubturbo 2.0 (For beatmapping), Sonivox Wobble (Killer software, if you know how to tweak it right) Sony Acid Studio 8, a Blue Snowball USB microphone, and a pair of Skullcandy Skullcrushers (So I can tweak the basslines to my liking). And to be honest, it's really not that easy. Electronic music still requires a decent amount of music theory, and a little bit of know-how. It also requires a decent amount of dedication. I'm not trying to sound discouraging at all. In fact, I love to hear other independent musicians. So I'd like to close on a positive note. If you put in the time, and effort, you can make something truly amazing. :D

  7. Bass smiled sheepishly, and placed two bits on the counter. "But of course, ma'am. Again, I apologize for the spill." Bass reached into his saddlebag, and pulled out a small, leather hardcase. He set it on the counter, and opened it up, revealing a pair of eyeglasses with transparent yellow lenses. He then grabbed the small cloth from under the glasses, and wiped the lenses off, then put the glasses on. "By Celestia, I hate these things."

  8. Bass listened to the new pony, not even noticing Midsy exiting the cafe. He frowned slightly at the mention of a special somepony, but then the stallion grabbed Bass's attention. "Yeah, I'll be here tomorrow night. And yeah! That sounds awesome! Just give me a time and place, and I'll be there." Bass then waited for the barrista pony to come back over, and offered her a kind smile, speaking in the kind of polite tone that only a pony raised by an opera singer, and a jazz musician could muster. "Beg pardon, ma'am. I'm terribly sorry for my outburst over the tea, earlier. Is there any way I could trouble you for a fresh cup of coffee for myself, and my new friend, here?"

    Character Summary:

History – Growing up as the daughter of two musicians can be hard. Especially when you’re always keeping your twin brother in check. As a young filly growing up in Fillydelphia, Soft Treble didn’t have too many friends. Despite being one of the more popular fillies in school, Treble never let it get to her head, and never really saw any of the other ponies as a true friend. Yes, the only true friend she had was her twin brother, Deep Bass. As foals, the two were inseparable, going everywhere, and doing nearly everything together. Even after Bass started going to the music school, Treble would walk with him to his school, then make her way to her own. After the two had gone through their schools, Treble and Bass had managed to save up enough bits to get an apartment together, and still live together to this day.

Parents – Treble's father was a jazz musician named Nickel Strings, and his mother was an Opera singer, named Alto Soprano. As stated before, they were able to provide a privileged life for their foals.

Cutie Mark Story – After her brother was enrolled in the Fillydelphia School for Musical Foals, Treble was left with no friends, and nopony to spend her days with, save for her mother. As the days went on, Treble would go with her mother to her performances, whenever she could, after school. One night, one of the soprano singers had to call in sick, and much to her mother’s argument, and disagreement, Treble took the place on stage, and filled the part beautifully, for being such a young filly. When the performance was over, she was informed by her mother that she had finally earned her cutie mark. It was by far the happiest day of her life. But why stop there? After discovering her special talent, she decided that she’d try to push her limit, by learning to play the Violin as well.

Flaws – Overly self-critical, little self-confidence, overly caring, and sensitive.

Personality – Sensitive, and timid, Treble is the opposite of the typical musician. Where most musicians are outgoing, and social, Treble is more of a “few good friends” pony. She would do anything to make her friends happy, as well as her brother.

  10. [[Well, apparently, you haven't read the sequel to my fic yet. xD]]

Bass looked back at Syd, and grinned. "Thanks. It's good to know that somepony appreciates my music. I just like to unwind with a nice glass of hot tea or coffee before my shows. Although this place doesn't carry the tea that I like, I HAD a cup of coffee..." Bass shot a glance at Midsy. "But what comes must also go. So, tell me. Is it always this... Crazy around here? Or did I just choose the wrong night to play Stalliongrad?"

  11. [[Omg someone here read my fic. xD]]

Bass looked at this "Syd" pony a bit confused. What in Equestria was he talking about. Though Vinyl Scratch was a cute mare, Bass had never even met her, yet here was some strange pony talking about him having settled down with her. And what concert was he talking about?

"Um… hi. Are you sure you're talking to the right stallion? I've never even met Vinyl Scratch. I'm in Stalliongrad because I've got a small gig at a local club tonight... And how do you know my name?"

Midsy pranced back to the counter, and sat back in her chair.

    "Sorry, Bass. She left."

  12. So I woke up this morning and decided to txt my friend.

    aefc735b-b8e9-2fc1.jpg

I called him, and threw on a southern accent. The conversation went like this:

    Me: Hey, Denton.

    Him: Yo.

Me: Yo, I need you to go back to your barracks, pack your seabag, and come back to the boat. We're gettin underway first thing in the mornin.

    Him: Alright, thanks.

When he showed up to pick me up, he looks at me, and says "How did you know my chief had a southern accent?"

    "He does?!"

  13. My mom just called me, while I was at Best Buy with my friend and told me she was pregnant again. I was immediately confused, since I know that my step dad had gotten a vasectomy just after my little brother was born 4 years ago. Then she proceeded to tell me that she was getting a divorce, and would have to move to Virginia so I could help her stay on her feet. I immediately began freaking out, since I have a hard enough time supporting myself on my meager paycheck. Then she proceeded to start laughing. Picture related. It was pretty much my reaction.

  14. The Unicorn patted Bass on the back, and sat next to him. "You know, Bass, you really should stop being so.... Uhm... What's a good word to describe you, right now?" The mare tapped her chin, for a moment, pondering the word that could describe Bass's attitude at the moment. She found it slightly odd that her usually calm, and laid back best friend was being so fussy. Then, the word finally came to her. "Persnickety! That's what you're being, Bass! Hah! I told you I'd come up with the right word!"

Bass raised an eyebrow at his newly arrived friend. "Uh... What? What does that even mean?"

"Well.... It means you're being fussy. Is it because you have that show tonight, and you haven't written any new music since... you know... THAT happened?"

Bass sighed, and rubbed his forehead.

"You know full well why I haven't written anything, Midsy."

"Yeah, I know, Bass. Say... that pegasus over there is kinda cute. Why don't you go ta- Huh? You say something, Bass?"

Bass raised an eyebrow at Midsy, and shook his head.

    "Nope. Not a thing."

    "Hmmm.... Didn't think so."

It would seem that the mysterious entity's attempt at a mind trick had no effect on the ditzy mare, what with her Pinkie Pie-esque demeanor.

"Now, as I was saying, you should go talk to her, Bass."

    Bass shook his head.

    "Sorry, but no."

    Then, Midsy grinned mischeviously.

    "Fine. Then I will."

And with that, Midsy pranced off toward the table with the other ponies, humming happily as she did so, not even giving Bass a moment to argue.

  15. Bass was now sipping on his coffee, sitting silently, and tapping one hoof to the rhythm of an inaudible tune. He was beginning to space out, when out of nowhere, a high pitched shrill came from nowhere, causing Bass to nearly jump out of his skin.

    "HI, BASS!"

Bass jumped a bit, spilling his nearly impossibly acquired coffee all over the counter, as the bubbly yellow unicorn suddenly appeared behind him. Once more, a loud thud could be heard throughout the cafe, as Bass slammed his head on the counter again, raising it, and looking back at his friend.

"Darnit, Midsy! You have got to stop doing that! Do you know how hard it was for me to even get this coffee?"

    The yellow mare smiled, innocently.

"Sorry, Bass. I didn't mean to scare you. It's just soooooo FUNNY!"

This comment was met by an angry glare from the white pegasus.

  16. Meanwhile, across the cafe, the sound of a loud thud could be heard, as Deep Bass slammed his head on the table. He looked back up to the waiter pony, rubbing his forehead with his hoof, setting his amber aviators on the table, letting his silver-flecked, midnight blue eyes sparkle lightly in the dim lighting.

"How could you be out of Black Tea? That's like... the most common kind of tea in the world."

The waiter pony quickly apologized, and made a recommendation.

"My apologies, sir... We've never really had much order for it. I could get you a nice glass of Trottingham Select tea, if you'd like."

Bass groaned, and rolled his eyes.

"No thanks. I'll just take a nice, hot glass of coffee... If you have it."

The waiter pony nodded, and took off to fetch the coffee. It had been a while since Bass had been to Stalliongrad, and honestly, this visit was playing itself out to be his last. Bass looked over at his guitar case, which was leaning against the end of the booth, admiring the craftsmanship behind the case. It wasn't very often that Bass could find a decent case shaped to fit his V-shaped guitar AND didn't hinder his flight. Another thing that continuously caught his eye about the case was the material. It was a stunning matte black leather with a silver placement of his cutie mark on the body part of the case. Yeah, it was kind of easy to find things with a Bass Clef on them, but this one was hoof-made, and that's the only reason Bass came all the way to Stalliongrad to purchase it. Bass heard a small conversation on the other side of the cafe, and shot a glance over to a table filled with other ponies, observing each pony's appearance, all the while not being very stealthy about it.
