Well, when a fanfic is so popular that some of the fans ask the producers of the show if they've read it, you've got something that's quite influential for newcomers and veterans of the fandom alike.There's also all of the "alternate ending" fics it spawned. I think it's a whole sub-genre in of itself now ("Cupcakes" Spin-Off Fictions). I've read a few myself, despite never reading the actual fiction that spawned them. What I personally can't understand is how the thing turned out to be so popular (mostly pre-Party of One). From what I've heard it's not very well written, and despite all the praise it got for keeping the characters in their personalities, it doesn't change the fact Pinkie/Applebloom aren't murderers. My headcanon to its burst of popularity is that it was written when the most popular characters were Pinkie and Dash, and as such they were also the most shipped as well (due to Griffon the Brush-off's made-up lesbian undertones). The fiction apparently reads like a shipping story before the grimdark stuff, so it was the kind of thing that users would link to on other boards/topics to "trap" other people who were into the pairing and not aware of the fiction yet. The content was so shocking at the time that some of these users would then create "alternate endings" to it. Presumably this is thanks to the fiction's "in-character" interpretation of Pinkie, since many people would speak of how they "actually believed its something Pinkie would do". Whether this is something you agree or not, it further promoted the original's popularity. Since it was written sometime in January, it was easy to spread it among the booming fandom. It then spread even more when Party of One came out. Ironically enough, before that episode, "Cupcakes" Pinkie was always shown with her poofy mane. But because the introverted "Pinkamena" had a flat mane style, it immediately started being interpreted as the "Cupcakes" version of Pinkie Pie, despite the fact it's just supposed to be her in a depressed, anti-social tone. This is PROBABLY because sheer fate would have Rainbow Dash be the one to drag her out of Sugarcube Corner in that episode, it might not have been so misinterpreted if it where Applejack or Rarity to have been the ones to ask her to come to the farm. But I guess I'm just ranting at this point, there were many Dinky/Derpy fictions back then that were touching, and despite the surviving fanon of them being related, these are not specifically remembered due to their vast numbers. The surviving fanon here is that Pinkamena is the "serial killer" version of Pinkie Pie, it's just that the only fiction that comes to mind to most of the fandom when mentioning that is "Cupcakes". It's basically a scapegoat at this point.

Pinkie's getting an episode soon too (Baby Cakes), and we know she's got a song that most likely will come up. Fluttershy might not have gotten an episode yet, but at least she got a song duet with Rainbow. The real loser here is Scootaloo. Sweetie Belle got herself an episode with Rarity, while Apple Bloom got 2 episodes herself this season. Why not Zoidberg Scootaloo, writers? Of course, considering how AJ went from no episodes to 2 already, this can easily be redeemed quickly.

I just took the opportunity to make a joke about it, it's likely not going to be hard cider.Although when I think about it, the international release of this episode will probably get edited for UK broadcasting, since over there cider is apparently always alcoholic.

In My Little Pony? It's more likely than you think. More AJ (Although this might actually be Apple family as a whole) is always welcome to me.

Actually, from what I understand, Derpy as a mail delivery pony came from a fanfic back in Season 1(and the fandom)'s early days. It caught on because it was touching/popular I guess.It's ironic, considering this fanfic is possibly more influential than "Cupcakes", yet there seems to be no source for its title.

The only thing the FiM animation team had the time to do concerning Derpy in Season 1 was to derp her eyes. It was a complete coincidence that she was one of the delivery ponies in Feeling Pinkie Keen.

A new sypnosis has reared it's head. This one's a bit more detailed. Source is a bit questionable, however.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic : Baby Cakes S02, E12 (Air Date: January 14, 2012) Pinkie Pie tries babysitting Cake's twin toddlers but finds it harder than she thought. Pinkie finally gets an episode. All we need is the Last Round Up as a confirmed AJ episode and something for Fluttershy now. lol Scootaloo Didn't know the Cakes already had foals. Hopefully their designs won't be terrible.

The name, that is.

All right, not too shabby of an episode. Although it wasn't what I expected at all, it still had some heartwarming stuff as well as Pinkie Pie being hilarious. Also, sorta new song at the end? Anthem, perhaps? Wendigos are a new creature I guess, or a spirit thing? Kinda disappointing Discord didn't even get mentioned, but he might just not be from this part of the history. Question is, did he come into the picture before this or afterwards? I'd guess afterwards.

Wouldn't it be fairer to list Rainbow Dash 11 times, paired with a different character each time? Also, why aren't there canon couples? Rarity/Pinkie/Twilight's parents and Mr. and Mrs Cake could use some love. I guess I'll vote for AJ/Dash, because AJ.

EDITED: Confirmed as episode 14. Season 2 Episode 14: The Last Roundup Synopsis: Applejack disappears and the friends set out on a journey to find her Airs January 21st, so no skip week. ORIGINAL POST: Could this "The Last Roundup" be the long awaited Applejack episode me and Phil have been craving for? Certainly sounds like there will be some herding, and that's one of AJ's talents. For now, we can only take guesses at what the episode will be about, though when I get a synopsis I'll change the topic title to "Episode XX synopsis".

Update: Hi! So, uh, I'm a PonyArchive admin. I just sent an email to Seth, and in case he decides to not post it, I figured I'd put it here: Hay there Seth! Or Cereal or Phoe or Tek I guess. I just felt I should write in with an update on what's going on. I've been an admin on the site for a few months now, my tasks have primarily been managing donations as well as managing some videos on the site. I've decided to leave PonyArchive due to differences of opinion on how to react to this; personally, I think keeping up a good relationship between Hasbro and the fanbase is more important than keeping the site up, while the two founders of the site have decided that they're gonna keep going despite the takedown notice. My own personal stance on this is that I can see where Hasbro is coming from, with DVDs being released and the show up on iTunes. On one hand, I'm pretty sure they're gaining more from PonyArchive than they're losing (Lord knows I've bought more than one or two toys since coming onboard), but on the other hand, it's their copyright and if they want the site down, then I think that's their decision to make. It's always been trolls taking down the youtube episodes, so assuming that this time it really is Hasbro is somewhat pessimistic since it means they've been ridiculously slow on the uptake. My guess is that they're going after these torrents because they're essentially the iTunes-versions except free. Youtube versions of the episodes have artifacts, watermarks and lower quality. I'm guessing they don't realize that we can download those, either. Live streamings are most likely impossible to pin down. And there are MANY other sites who still have torrents of watermarkless-versions of the episodes. And there probably always will be. Hasbro has been turning a blind eye for us when it comes to most of the above and they have every legal right to tell us that: "No, you can't host/torrent that." Because it's illegal. It's always been. If your source of pony episodes is taken down, then adapt and find a new source. Better yet, if you have access to the US iTunes store, BUY the actual episodes and feel good knowing you're supporting the show and legally own those episodes. There's really nothing more I think I can write about this. It's basically "Deal with it."

I use youtube downloaders, so this doesn't affect me in the least.
