  1. In retrospect, the name of the store probably could've been a bit misleading to ponies. Maybe the idea of it representing the significance of unlocking trunks full of antique goodies was eccentric compared to the more common idea of the place being a locksmith. Maybe she'd have another little sign crafted to hang beneath it, saying, "Thrifty Items and Antiques." Her ears drooped a tad when he said he was looking for a locksmith, and a bit more when pointed out the bit of dust in her mane. "Ah- heh. Thank you," she muttered, shaking her head to flick it away. "Yes, I'm afraid I'm not really in the locksmithing business. This is an antique store." She tipped her nose up as if gesturing to the store, herself. "Whatever things ponies don't want anymore, or things that ponies have treasured that they want to go to a good home - I sell those things. To put it so poetically, at least. A lot of ponies just think it's old, outdated junk." The mare shook her head, "I like to think that even if it's old, it could still be of some use to somepony." She gave pause after a moment, "Comin' to think of it...I do have a whole box of old padlocks and keys. I think a few of them match up. What is it that you're looking for one for?" Vintage scooted her way over to one of the large window sills, mostly taken up by scarves hanging vibrantly to either side. Perched atop the 'sill, however, was a box with several miscellaneous old locks and dozens of tarnished, ornately crafted keys. When she looked back at him, she couldn't help but give a brief glance to his cutie mark, but not wanting to seem rude she didn't lean to the side enough to get more than a brief glimpse of a handle and some clouds. A pot of some sort, maybe? Hrm.
  2. Vintage was having a slow morning. Even though she'd expected it, it had been hard for her not to have high hopes about the place. She was nervous, anxious, excited, and all of those feelings had just been jumbling about in her little mind so much that she'd almost skipped out on breakfast. Hay waffles and a glass of apple juice were too tempting, though. Her ears quirked forward at the familiar sound of the bell above the door, chiming through the sound of some Louie Hoofstrong playing quaintly out in the storefront. She glanced up in the back room, having been sorting through some records. "A customer...!" Ohdearohdearohdear. What to do? Go out there! Right, go out there and give them a warm welcome. Awkwardly adjusting her glasses, the mare stumbled over a box and hopped her way out into the store. "H-Hello! Welcome to the Key and Paddock," she chirped, flicking the dust out of her tail. She had a bit of trouble keeping herself clean all the while, working with so many dusty things. She liked it, though. "Is there anything I can help you with, sir?"
  3. You're gonna get lots of ponies, trust me. But you'll also get lots of OTHER STUFF TOO~ Currently I don't have much, but I'd like to do more ponies. I'm just super uncreative. WAIT THIS ISN'T PONY AT ALL. No, this is an OC of mine who lives in a closet. She's a closet monster! I'm planning to work on a comic based on her. Veentage! More recent pic of her. I have to work on her mane, I think, but I do like how this one turned out. This is actually pretty inaccurate to her personality. xD;; I don't know. Maybe she met with some mares she went to school with back in the day who used to pick on her clothing choices. "They are practical and keep me warm. So there."
  4. Herro and welcome, newperson~!

  6. Not technically relevant, but the way she drew those feathers/spines on the dresses hat and back sort've look like the dragon's spikes from Dragonshy. :U Inspired much, Flutters? *Pulls the thread train back on the tracks.*
  7. "Th-That…that should be the last one…!" In a recently rented storefront, a lowly mare teetered on a step ladder as she fit the last remaining cookbooks on a shelf. She took a moment to adjust her glasses, perching the thick spectacles back on her nose after wiping them against the hem of her knitted, earthy scarf. It was daunting and empowering at the same time. Would anypony bother even giving the store a second glance? Had moving so far from home been the right choice? It left butterflies brewing in her belly. No, no, no! That was no way to think about it. Vintage was not going to be bested by some petty fears! She shoo'd those butterflies away with a shake of her head. Early morning to late afternoon had been spent with minimal breaks - dresses and thrifty clothing hung on racks, shelves stocked with antique goodies, books organized. Her inventory wasn't grand, to be exact, but she had an ample amount of wares that she hoped other people might find some interest in. She stepped outside to get herself some air, taking in the balmy breeze that roiled through the town from Sandtrot Beach, ruffling her short mane and cooling her hard-working little pony self. She turned to look up at the wooden sign, hanging from a protrusion over the shop's door. "The Key and Paddock," the y in 'key' being a rather fancy looking key, and the o in 'paddock' taking the silhouetted shape of a lock. She smiled to herself. "Maybe this will end up being a good thing, after all." She disappeared back into the shop, finishing up before it was time for supper. Tomorrow, she thought to herself. Tomorrow is the big day! - - - - (Anypony feel free to post! x) I'm going to play it like it's technically the next day after this post, so don't worry about having to catch her before then. As of now, after this post, it's technically morning and the shop is open!)
  8. Fix'd! Thanks for the approval, too! ^^
  9. My first ones were fakes. >:T But then I got into collecting seriously back when I was in the fifth grade. I remember I was even crazy enough to blow all my allowance money on a Japanese Chansey card. I have a whoooole slew of 'em in a drawer back home. Some in binders, some in boxes. I haven't collected them in the longest time, though. :< It's neat to know that people still do!
  10. I think that it's a possibility. It wouldn't be the first time something's gone by the radar with a hidden meaning. Not only in cartoons, but in other forms of media, it's very evident. There's a theory that to make one thing pass the radar, something else has to happen before hand that's even more in-your-face/vile/OMG MUST BE CENSORED to catch the attention and lighten the blow of what they really want to get passed. I think the Animaniacs folks talked to Doug Walker (That Guy With the Glasses) about it in an interview he did not too long ago with them.
  11. Thank you! <3 Edit: Added her history. x)
  12. Mum and dad, Stop treating me like a bad rash that, once I hit 20, you were so happy to get rid of. That really kind of hurts. :< When I come up for a visit, I want to see you guys. I don't come up because it's "convenient" for you, although you seem to think that. (YEAHHH LOL FREE MAID TO CLEAN THE HOUSEEE) You can pry yourselves away from your piss-artist drinking friends and your girlfriend to see me for a few hours. I miss you, and I just want to spend time with you. I'm 22 now. I've spent about 2 years not seeing you guys as much as I'd like. I want that to change. kthx.
  13. Books: I still like reading "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstien now and again. Music: Ke$ha. Yes, I know. :I Some of her songs are fun to listen to, though. Even if it's synthed so much that it's not even her singing, anymore. TV: Dr. Phil, when I can catch it. Movies: Nacho Libre. Stfu Jack Black can be lulzy when he wants to be. ;o;
  14. [ Pony Related Character ] Name: Vintage Gender: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Earth Pony Pelt Color: Dusty, light gray. Mane/Tail Color & Style: Dusty rose pink. Her tail is exceptionally long and tends to drag behind her, while her mane is cropped short, save for a pair of small tails to either side of her head, below her ears. Eye Color: Matching dusty pink. Cutie Mark: A simple, golden pocketwatch with hearts instead of numbers. Physique: Average, maybe slightly short/petite. She has three small, freckle-like dots on either of her cheeks, and her nose color fades to a light gray/white. Residence: Fillydelphia Occupation: Thrift and Antique Shop owner. Motivation: When Vintage got her cutie mark, it was when she'd discovered a trunk of old dresses in the attic of her grandmother's home. Since then she's fallen in love with history and what things from the past can teach those in the future. Likes: Old records, thrifty dresses, summer evenings and pressed flowers. Dislikes: Loud ponies, tea too hot to drink, bug bites, her poor eyesight. Character Summary: Vintage's life thus far hasn't been all that exciting (although she would tell you otherwise.) She came from a pair of simple, well-to-do parents who only wanted the best for their children. Vintage and her older brother went to school as normal ponies do, although Vintage got picked on quite a bit for her unfashionable taste for all things out of date and uncool. When other fillies would wear tasteful, in-season kerchiefs around their neck, she'd go to school wearing a ratty, moth-eaten old scarf that smelled like it'd been sitting in a time capsule for around a century or so. It didn't much bother her, though. She knew what she liked! And what she liked, she collected tons of. Old records, tarnished jewelry, thrifty dresses, knick-knacks and doo-dads from a time long since passed. When she was a tad older, the filly paid a visit to her grandmother's for the day to help the old mare clean her house. Vintage was probably the only one who would ever volunteer willingly to do such a task, but she loved it - the stories her grandmother would tell during the cleaning escapades, a chance to look at all of the neat, old stuff. That particular day was the one that would change Vintage forever. Going through a trunk of her grandmother's old dresses, the filly sighed to herself. She wished that other ponies could be as excited about old things and history as much as she could. Antiques and retro items and old fashions...she wanted to be able to show ponies that they could appreciate the old as well as they could the new, because without history, nopony would be where they are today. That was when it happened. Vintage got her cutie mark. From that moment on, she knew what she was destined to do. What her true calling was in life. She studied hard in school, learning what she could from history and other subjects, graduated and moved out to a small apartment over a vacant shop in Fillydelphia. The latter was rented out by her as well, and now she's got her heart set on selling thrifty and antique goods to whoever else has been bitten by the antique-bug. Reference:
  15. Another Brony from the sunny state of New York! Hello! Welcome to the forum!
  16. Vintage

    Hi there

    WELCOME TO THE HERD. ...and the forum. :3
  17. Heyyy, thanks all. xD And yes, ferrets are super fun to have. They're a lot of responsibility, but they're a load of entertainment. They harass my mum's cat when we visit her, their poop is indeed ropey, and yes! That video made me smile. <3
  18. @MyLittlePonyTales - I hope I will! I'm excited for it. -_- And thanks for sending the links my way, just finished reading over the rules and what-not. @MusicalNight - Thank you! I'm sure I will, it looks like quite a friendly community thus far. x3
  19. Uhm uhm uhm. I'm just a 22-year old ladyperson living with her boyfriend and two ferrets on the east coast of the USA. I like to draw, and sing, and write. Mostly just be creative whenever I can. I remember the (CONFOUNDED) ponies back from when I was a little'un, and when I heard they made a new show, I had to take a peek at it. I'm so glad I did. It's reawakened the three-year old rainbow-pony-mongering beast inside of me. I've been wanting to find a good place to RP my pony OC as well, so I'm glad to finally find a place that I'll hopefully be able to call a home for that. :mrgreen: So yeah. Hi! :3
