My boys are big fans of both. They've been watching Pokemon since they were too young to talk! They've come and gone with it over the years, but it's always there. I liked it early on, but at some point in there I started to feel like it got ridiculous. Or I got old. Not sure there...

Well, he's strange and we know that and have had to deal with it being an issue at school school from time to time. But that's another issue.

He got into the show because I watch it, but he's not anywhere near obsession levels. Not like it's been with Pokemon or Legend of Zelda...

He just had a knack for remembering things that aren't what his mother and I say to him.

I finally broke down and downloaded the FiM soundboard for my phone.

And I was playing with it and my 12 year old sons were guessing the ponies from the sounds.

One of them dropped out after the mane ones were done, the other was able to name every pony but 2. This is including background ponies that only had a single speaking line in the show.

Sometimes he didn't know their name, but he could describe them and say who they were with.

My brony impulse is to be be proud, but as a father it's kinda scary.

We went to a Toys 'R Us in the neighboring state and I found wave 3 blind bags!!!!

First time I have ever seen them in real life. Thanks to the wonders of smart phones and the interwebs I now have a Lyra and Big Mac!

Well, I'm still really young, but I think the greatest moment I my life(so far) was when I got my dog. My life was really crappy at the moment. Dad lost his job, mom was super stressed, so I had no one to talk to. But then I come home one day, feeling particularly lonely, and I prayed to God to send me someone I could rely on. I walk into my room, and the're is a baby Black Laborador, smiling up at me. Now I know dogs can't smile, but I swear she did. And she still does now whenever I'm sad.

I have never had a (human) friend as good and true as the black labs I've had. As far as I'm concerned: Best. Dogs. Ever!

So I was all set to say that Leer-ah was how I say it because that has been the case based on how I've heard lyre pronounced. And that has apparently been wrong.

So I see season 1 is out on DVD (SQUEEEEEEE!!!!! ) and I decide to hit the "brony" search tag on Amazon and see what all comes up.

A lot. The answer is a lot of things pop up. I've idly wondered if the brony merch at say Hot Topic or some of these online t-shirt shops are licensed before.

But I saw "Poniworld" Kindle books and other such things. I didn't see any using show characters and didn't really read the synopsis of any of them, but the cover art was obviously modeled on the style of the show. And it was ponies with elaborate multi-colored emblems on their flanks.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any cases of this type of stuff getting hammered by Hasbro or knows enough about IP rights to know if the small terminology changes being made were enough to be clear.

Far and away my most favoritest OC ponies are from the "Gathering the Elements" Series by Nimaru on DA.

Winter Willow and Rose Petal (and much love for Luau) are awesome. The entire thing is great. I prefer his history to show canon.

The candy cane math and the cow image both square fairly well in comparison to how they compare to things like apples and eggs shown in the show. Sounds right to me.

On second thought, finding out that Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom was what was threatening to destroy the crystal ponies was the big jaw dropper.

I went out on a mission and we drove the hour and change to the nearest town of consequence. I hit Toys 'R Us, Target, Meijer, Hot Topic.... All with no luck at finding anything good. Hot Topic has a "Yay!" shirt my wife would have gotten if the 2XL didn't look like it was sized for a small child's toy, not a person. The sizing there is bad. No pony goods other than 2 shirts. I was disappoint. Saw some clever store brand knock-offs by the score. "Royal Ponies" and "Pony Princesses" high on the oh God list.

Went to our local Wal-Mart today and FOUND POSTERS!!!!!

Got a couple, there were stacks of them.

They are still sadly not keeping up with demand on the cards.

I think that for us older fans a longer story arc and deeper development would be great, but considering the true target audience I think that just touching on these things is all that they need to do. Yes "Party of One" was a short term problem that was solved in a matter of hours. We can extrapolate and see that as a sign of deeper issues Pinkie may need to deal with at some point. Headcanon has told the fandom that she probably has real problems to work through, but the target demo probably isn't ready for an in depth exploration of depression and disassociation problems.

Besides, there are a lot of shows that deal heavily with all the bad things people are saddled with. I like having a show I can watch where things don't get too deep.
