I have a Twilight background and have the mobile desktop ponies on it. Though I don't run that often. It's a bit buggy.
I also have the theme song set as my alarm. Nice way to wake from a nap.
I need to get more sounds.

But they also said that weather happens by itself in the Everfree. Do you think the Cloudsdale ponies bother to create clouds for a location they don't control?
So Rainbow could be collecting wild "free range, cage free" clouds from over the forest.
I think it is reasonable to entertain the notion that Celestia is a benevolent dictator. Just because someone is a "dictator" and holds absolute political power doesn't mean they are always a tyrant or oppressive despot. Technically anyone who holds absolute authority in a non-hereditary (read monarchy) is a dictator, be they a good or bad ruler. Although I suppose her Princess status, if indicative of a hereditary succession, would simply make her a monarch not a dictator.
History has seen some dictator style regimes that were benevolent and good for the people, at least for the most part. I won't cite examples for fear of my bad memory....

While I didn't make the Con, my family goes to a massive event every summer as part of our reenactment lives. It's a 2 week thing, though sometimes we only go for 1 week of it. (like this year )
Whenever we get home and are stuck back in everyday life after so much immersion it is always a bit depressing. Everything feels kinda.... flat for a while.
I can only imagine that going home after running with the Bronies would have a similar effect.

I went to the closest Target and was vary, very, very sadly dissapointed in the MLP offering.
And would it hurt someone, ANYONE, to sell a Celestia that wasn't pink? Really.

Som where is this project? Is it something anyone can log into and see?
I'd love to explore that world.

Thanks for the copying idea!
As for using my own style, I'm a purist type. Not using correct colors would cause the cosmos to implode. At least in my head.

I debated posting this in Tech, but I think it's a more general thing.
I have the desktop ponies on my PC and a version of them on my phone. When I load them, I know this is silly, I always do at least 2 because in my mind I don't want them to be lonly. For a while I had a goldfish on my computer that looked like a real goldfish. It needed fed every day, it learned when and where you usually fed it. In general it was like a real fish. I felt bad if I missed a feeding, even. And I'm even a tech that works on, and programs, automation equipment/robots for a living.
I've heard of people getting attached to their Rumbas and such so I know this is a "real thing."
Anyone else have programs like the ponies that they inflect emotions upon?
I mean where is that line? If it is programmed to act just like a fish (and I just read an article about how fishing isn't cruel because their nervous system isn't complicated enough to fully process pain) so does it "feel" like a fish? Aren't our feelings akin to programmed responses?

So my wife got this for me at the store today.
While it's a kiddie coloring book it's neat. Now I'm trying to decide if it would be ridiculous of me to actually color some of it.
Every once in a while I have an impulse to "save" something as original, but in general I am the type of person that wants thing to use them.
I never hesitated to get my Fluttershy and Twilight figures out of their boxes.
But where would I get crayons the right colors!?

I usually don't collect a lot of stuff but MUST HAVE!!!

I debated posting this in the BronyCon thread but my post isn't about the con, but an article about the con.
Is that getting meta?
Anyhow, I just read an article on Yahoo that I thought was very positive. It focused on how wrong many of the misconceptions about Bronies are, backing it up with quotes from Faust and others.

19.
It lets you see how you rank for your demographic, too.

Thanks, I'll try that.

I looked for a thread mentioning this and came up blank.
I want to buy the seasons on iTunes (SD versions) but I have a serious bandwidth limit now. Can anyone tell me what the file size is on these?
If anyone has bought these; Since I am sure it is over my limit for a whole season, How long will iTunes allow me to "stall" a download before it is an issue?
I would buy episodes, but then I'd be paying $25 extra for them.
-
Just over a year. I forget exactly when it was I stumbled into it, but I caught up with episodes in S-1, but just right at the end of the season. The horror! For some reason this time around seems so much longer. Maybe it was because I didn't get the concentrated dose right till the end.
But I didn't get "involved" until a few months ago. I watched the episodes and liked the memes but that was it. Now I'm cosuming more fan fics and OC. But that my be partially due to a lack of pony time at the moment.
I need more ponies!!!!

I've had "Sunshine and Celery Stalks" by PinkiePieSwear stuck in my head all day. AAALLLLLLLLLL DAY. A natural progression from Flutterwonder the other day. If you like techno/trance they are worth checking out!
What other full fledged fan songs (or remixes) are worth checking out?
Extra awesome points if they are available for download!

OK, I saw this posted and my very first thought was that a similar physical theory could explain fine motor control for ponies. Or the Power Puff girls for that matter....
If, in a magical world, they can manipulate the structure of their hooves then they can be rock hard when walking or working but then the granular structure could soften to allow the holding of implements. So here's the answer for "hoof carved" snowflakes et all.

Well, with my medieval reenactment and some of the living conditions I have experienced, i don't think the tech would bother me.
And I have some skills that might make me a place there.
But it would be easier as a pony. Espescially if I had to relearn everything.

I like the look and feel of the show. The writing is good too. While I wouldn't watch it if it wasn't "pretty", I also wouldn't watch if it wasn't a quality show.
But the primary reason is that it is a bright place in a world ever more obsessed with darkness.
Sometimes it is bittersweet because the show makes me happy, but I wish I had something like what the mane six have.

After the initial care giving, I would try and do whatever I could to find another pony. I'd hate for her to be lonely. (assuming her based on statistics of the show.)
All of this after a head exploding SQEEE! of course.

I don't have any subscriptions but I follow Meekakitty and Josie Charlwood on FaceBook so I know when they post new stuff.

Flutterscotch, thanks for posting that. I was as confused as Rosewind. Probably more, but that's just the general state of things for me.

It is worth mentioning that we live in a culture dominated by media. A media that is conveying an ever increasing message of negativity and cruelty. Compare the number of shows about violent, destructive themes. Law and Order: SVU (and all of the L&O shows), Dexter (serial killer...), the CSI franchise, all of the supposed "reality" TV that chases sensationalistic destructive behavior. All of this is apparently fine by most people's standards. But not everyone enjoys this constant bombardment of negativity and finds solace is the cheerful, brightly colored, clever stories that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has to offer.
I am married with 12 year old twin sons. We watch the show together or separately and talk about the funny things that happen. As hard as it is for someone my age to connect with our kids, this show helps us do that, and gives us common ground.
One other point is the fact that this is just the latest media-hyped scare fest. At one time it was back-masking in records.
In the 80's Dungeons & Dragons was connected to devil worship. Now people know it leads to Cheet-Os and Mt. Dew, not ritual sacrifice.
In the 90's Pokemon was linked to Satanism, promoting psycic beliefs and witchcraft.
Then it was Harry Potter promoting witchcraft and the occult.
Now we are here and MLP:FiM is a pop-culture event and it has its own media terror to go with it as well.

some forum posts say a lot and expand on things. they don't have much influence in the world. some governments do little and say a lot. they can hold massive amounts of influence on the world. this thread says little and only expresses previously established, arguably obvious ideas. this page may end up resulting in world domination. the only way to make sure that that domination remains a good thing or, if that is impossible, nonexistent, we must all come to the realization that Becoming Popular is the best song.
While I may not agree with which song you said was best, I must say I love the way you said it!!!
"Art of the Dress" ate my brain for a long while. "Winter Wrap Up" was a close second.
Now "Love is in Bloom" wins by a hair.

Sooo.... on topic. I don't really care for anything violence related being ponified. Because I like to keep my hyper violence and ponies separated, thank you very much. ^^
So yeah, that's pretty much where I draw my personal line.
Hear-hear. I like my Ponies because they are a bit of light and happiness in a hurtful world. So I hate to stumble upon hurtful things mixed with my antidote. I avoid some sites because of that. But I don't blame the ponies.
I think if people want to ponify things then that is their prerogative. Jumping on the bandwagon of, "If you don't like it don't look at it." I'm a huge Hobbit fan as well. And a few other books are almost sacred tomes to me. So I won't watch/read a ponification of them.
Twilight's BBBFF Song, what does it sound like?
in Pony Chatter
Posted
I've read a couple of articles on this here, and here.
I agree that BBBFF has a familiar feel, but that doesn't harm it for me. Anymore there are so many artists that make entire albums that are basically the same song with different lyrics over and over <cough>Nickleback<cough> that you kinda have to accept it some if you are going to listen to the radio at all.
