  1. Ambrosia didn't need a Princess to tell her she was special; her mama said that every day!  But it was still nice to hear that, it made the statement somehow... official.  She was ceremonial even in casualness, giving her the seed that would mark her entrance in the great orchard of Applekind.  The little filly took it up with equal gravity, holding it in the glow of her magic.  Drawing it close to her lips, she gave it a little kissy-kiss, marking it with a glowy letter 'A', not yet having the control to write her full name small name small enough to fit on a seed.  That would come later, but for now, the little glowing spark of life was settled in the fertile earth, ready like her to take the long journey to full fruitful growth!

  2. "We have to re-orient ourselves to no longer being, essentially, alone in the civilized world.  You know we had no official ambassadors or any diplomatic corps?  Well, now we have to actually work out things with our neighbors, and need to have folks from there to do the same for us.  Almost nopony's trained to do it, too; honestly, it will probably fall on us Us personally to conduct diplomacy, me and my daughters, until all the paperwork for embassies, staffing, and such get done.

And with tasks like these, you just don't know all the things you never gave a thought to until it becomes a problem for someone else that's now in your life.  There's apparently a river in the industrial district that feeds into the river that flows near Bridlewood, and then comes out into Maretime Bay.  I anticipate considerably more issues to be raised if anything ends up dumped in there, for instance."

  3. Amby clopped her little hooves together as Applejack suggested something that sounded great!  Haybacon was a rare weekend treat for breakfast, and she liked salad, and ranch!  "Yummy!  And I'll be careful, mama."  That was one thing about the filly, separate from the rest of the family, she always took great care to not be a messy eater.  Unlike Zappers.  Maybe she should scootch her seat some distance from him, actually; he kind of had a splash zone with anything especially greasy.

  4. With all the joyful solemnity due to the occasion, Ambrosia took the seed from Applejack, as if it were the most precious jewel that could ever be put in a crown, and slowly carried it towards Twilight.  "What are you gonna do?"  She asked, wide eyes, as she expected some amazing magic to happen.  Was there a princess for her mother's Seedling Day?  For all she knew, there could have been.  Princess Celestia did grant the Apples this land herself, after all...

  5. "I would say that I have a core guard, yes.  Granted, I only just recently learned who was and wasn't really part of that core, for obvious reasons."  There was nothing like being broken out of jail for solidifying a friendship, that was for sure!  "It's going to be a little more time, I suspect, before I feel myself ready to take on a more normal social life, though.  So much still needs sorting out, both for me and for Zephyr Heights."

  6. Amby and Zap didn't always get along.  It was inevitable that friction between a little colt and filly would spring up alongside their sibling harmony.  But right now?  All the little disputes didn't matter.  He was family, and she was clinging to family right now.  Who knew what would happen if she took eyes or hooves off of them?  Would they get hurt and taken away too?  That couldn't happen, Apples needed to stick together, and especially to her!  "Don't go, Zappers... please don't go..."  She sniffed.

  7. "Mmm, the lack of attention is rather the point.  This is something I want to do for myself and those that care about the art, not because the eyes of all of Zephyr Heights are on me.  I'd honestly do it in the castle for staff and guards only, just for my own satisfaction."  Queen Haven had to remind herself that Flick wasn't necessarily slow on taking up the implications of her words, he had to ask questions at the pace of his audience, which wasn't necessarily all that quick on the uptake.

"And if my Daughter's wanted to join, I'd let them, but I don't see either of them taking an interest.  Pipp really does care about her streams and the technological side of things, as you said, and Zipp has always been a more outdoors sort.  But that's alright, I think its healthy for families to have things they do apart as well as together; it gives them something different to talk about with each other, broaden all our horizons, you know?"

  8. To hear that she could speak without offense was... relieving.  Especially since Spoiled was feeling lately that there were folks in Ponyville who just couldn't wait to take offense at anything she might say.  "Thank you, though I shall try not to tax your ears too much with such things, appealing as the fantasies you describe are."  That alone was dangerous to admit, but she wasn't a sphinx, so it wasn't as if it actually meant anything, right?  She could never, would never be taken on so passionate a flight... why did that thought fill her with such longing and sorrow?

Danger again, danger again!  Niilaavin was just too damn charming for Spoiled's own good, and the mare suspected that was partly deliberate.  Hadn't that been what was implied by all that talk of a rasha, and what it meant?  It was just so hard for her to care all that much, soaring through the sky that birth had denied her.

Seeking to get her mind onto safer subjects, even as she burrowed slightly deeper into the sphinx's warm scruff, she thought of Blueblood.  "I just think of him as male unless.. Bluebelle is actually in front of me.  I wouldn't have thought myself that transformation would be so kind to a pony's looks."  She sighed, feeling it somehow, slightly unfair, though she couldn't describe why.  "Well, however we speak of him, her, or them, he's certainly gone out of his way for you, and I'll grant that he probably does things I'd be impressed by if I knew them.  It's just... two wives, really.  Two loving mates, when I- when some other ponies have none, it just rankles, you know?"

Ah, jealousy.  The source of antipathy was finally revealed, unintentionally.  A good thing secrets were safe, up here...

  9. Ambrosia was actually too young to remember clearly the last time she'd eaten at Haydonalds, but it was clear that momma was giving them a treat from her tone, so she gave a cute little "Yay, Haydonals!"

The funny thing was, as far as her tastes in food would end up developing, she would actually prefer fresh, non-greasy fare.  Heck, she even didn't mind cabbage, unlike her brother!... if it was raw.  Cooked cabbage was just stinky.  In fact, if Applejack was paying attention, she might want to persuade Ambrosia to get out of The Dress before they started ordering.  The tear at the school had been one thing, but getting sauce and grease stains all over it?  Both she and Rarity would not give her an easy time for that...

  10. Ponies, too, had their contests of words, but Spoiled was in no mood to play at present.  It was for this reason that she hunkered down a bit behind Niilaavin's mane, to avoid any potential recognition and targeting of legal letters.  Let them be sent to the Prince instead, he had means of making problems like that just... go away.  A royal privilege of which the Mayor was rather envious, to tell the truth.  She would just let the fool blow himself over, and then if he still wanted to throw tongues with a giant riddle kitty, well, his funeral then.

Besides the lack of wanting to bother, though, Spoiled was not a mare that 'flashed Saa', a phrase which would certainly find itself embedded in her personal vocabulary.  "I suppose in equine metaphor, that would be 'flashing frogs', which has the advantage of alliteration as far as phraseology goes.  Also some wordplay potential for riddles."  She offered helpfully.  "And I will say, this so far has most definitely been a flashing of Sii for me, thank you."  It was true, being out in the open air was good for a pony, and being free of the reaches and concerns of reporter, lawyer, and constituency was divine.  Her elevated mood might well have accounted for how well she took the unintentional innuendo.  Or, at least, did not take offense; something else entirely had to be the reason behind her rejoining, "Ah, you'd much prefer to be riding me in that sense?"  As soon as that phrase left her mouth, she realized that might have been going a little far.  "Sorry, don't know what came over me there.  Comes from having to watch my mouth so much lately, I'll go off like that once the pressure is off the lid.  I don't suppose you'd like to hear what I have to say about your... Prince.  You seem to hold him... them in high regard, and I'd hate to spoil your mood.  All I'll say to that is, unicorns have unsure hooves."

  11. Proud as she was of her magic, Ambrosia's sense of control was not quite sufficient to give her confidence in anything but her hooves to use a spade.  Empowered by the magic of momma's kisses, she set to work, breaking the soft, fertile earth as she made a hole for her seedling.

"I'm a grown Apple now, so I grow apples!"  Ambrosia explained, with the same plain tone that one would say the grass was green, the water wet, or her mommas were beautiful.  Obvious fact of life, just like everything else Applejack had taught her.  Ambrosia's horizons were not yet set beyond this farm, and this town, her ambitions unanchored to any thoughts of leaving Sweet Apple Acres... just yet, anyway.

  12. Hello!  Sorry it took so long to get to ya, was away from my computer yesterday and most of today.

Well, if you want to get started, one of the first things you can do is give us a character profile write-up, either of your OC you want to play, or any of the show cast characters.  We have a standard form that lets us get a good picture of who your pony is or how you plan to a play your favorite canon pony, and allows a reference to point other players to when you want to introduce yourself to them:

We run a setting for G4:Friendship is Magic, which you can post your application to below:

    https://www.canterlot.com/forum/416-character-applications/

We also have a board for G5:A new Generation, for applications there:

    https://www.canterlot.com/forum/471-character-applications/

Once you have a character on there, we give your account full permissions to the boards, and you can start posting!

If you want to set up a thread, there's a couple of things you can do.  You can post to this board with ideas for plots and such, advertise in your availability in your status, or ask around in our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/bDPChXqj

You'll probably get the quickest response from us there, though some of our regulars are still on vacation.

Hope this helps!  PM if you have any more questions.

  13. It took about a minute or two for the little filly to recognize the significance of what was happening right now, filled as her head was with dreams of the future, pride in her abilities, and the normal flittiness of foals her age.  But soon enough orange-mama's loving care herded her attention to the little patch of earth that in a very real way would be her very own.  No matter where her future took her, to a runway, a true Princess' throne, or maybe just to the marriage-house of a lucky S.O., her roots would be in Sweet Apple Acres.

Therefore, to Applejack's question, there was only one answer.  "Ambrosia!  That's my name, that's my apple!"  She beamed in excitement, eager to see her namesake give forth it's branches, leaves, blossoms, and fruit!

  14. It was some mark of the providence that watched over the little fillies of Equestria that at least one of Amby's momma's heard her plaintive cries, and came in to snuggle her.  The little unicorn didn't want to do or say anything, just have a good cry safe in blue mama's arms.  It was all just too much for her night now.  "I dunno where Zappers is... *sniff*  I dunno where owange mamma is... wahhhh...."

  15. Love to see you, pink!  Friendly neighborhood modmin here.

Still not home from folks yet, so can't really give the guided tour on the site, but I'll shoot you a PM when I get home and can work from a laptop rather than a phone!

  16. Rating the dietary regime of her initial chosen career, Ambrosia could only give a solid "Ech!" out of ten.  It wasn't fair, why did wearing pretty dresses always come with needing to eat nasty food?  The little filly had little conception of perverse incentives for the beauty industry, but she'd have a word or two for them too once she did!  She was adorable because she was Ambrosia Apple, and she didn't need some set of silly snobs to tell her otherwise!

On that note, the pair then came across the number one encourager of Amby's opinion of herself, her mama!  Always wanting to get back to work, despite the lingering effects of... that day.  Someday, in the future, an older Ambrosia would need some therapy to deal with the repression and trauma of seeing such a strong pillar in her life so weak and hurt... but for now, the happiness of fillyhood was not yet dimmed.  "No mess, mama!  I'm not a colt, I'm a clean little filly!"  She was sure, that if Zappers was a unicorn instead of her, he'd leave every practice room every bit as messy as his bedroom!

  17. "Oh?"  Khaz smiled at the kiss, compound eyes twinkling with humor and delight.  "Best save those for days when you don't have anything to say when your little lovebug asks 'How was work today, dear?'"  Had the tone not been in jest, Yù might have thought the suggestion of future domesticity presumptuous.  All the same, it would be useful just to put the idea out there to float; Kahz wasn't sure where or how this relationship could possibly end up, but it couldn't hurt to explore possibilities...

Returning to the meal, he pointed out an option.  "Sushi Ship for two; if you've got an appetite, that's one of the best sampler platters in down.  Comes on a neat-looking wooden boat too!"

  18. Despite her real concern for her brother, the silly question he asked couldn't help but make her laugh.  Silly, silly big brother, with no stripes he didn't look anything like a zebra.  In fact, the only thing he had in common with zebras was that his name started with a Z.  Hm, that would make it pretty fun to say.  "Zappy Zebra!"  She called out delightedly, unthinkingly setting in motion the first prank Zap Apple would ever be the victim of by his friends at a sleepover, where they'd paint him with stripes.

But that was the future, the present was lunchtime.  "Yay, lunch!  I'm hungry!"  Apples never turned up to the table without an appetite, and petite cute unicorn she may have been, Ambrosia was still an apple through and through.

  19. "Yes, Auntie."  Amby giggled a little at Twilight's characterization of orange-mama, though the next apple she did pick up was with her hooves.  Couldn't be too careful; the little filly loved her mama after all, and didn't want to make her crazy.  Plus, a little filly holding a big apple was adorable, and she did want to look adorable whenever possible.

The little note about diet, though, caused Ambrosia to gasp in an oxygen-sucking way that she must have learned from watching Rarity at some point.  "Not even candy apples?"  She asked, in a plaintive tone that would have made any grown-up heart melt (and Applejack's swell with pride).  Surely Auntie Twilight couldn't mean no candy apples though; apples were good for you after all, mama said so!

  20. Sufficiently relieved that Pathfinder had departed the store with no greater incident than bringing in his whole family for a group hug, a thing which pegasi did fairly well, Sky was able to hand off Glimmer to Windy.  Their daughter was starting to get to a point where they should move her to a quieter place for a nap.  For himself, the stallion played his quieter songs on the upright piano, not one to revel in loud noise himself.

"It's good to see Candy's store is doing so well for the opening."  Sky smiled, accepting the offer of taffy alongside Windy, as he nodded towards Golden helping out at the register.  "Here's hoping its a good sign, though having every day like be like this in a store I worked at would make me shed feathers!"  Indeed, without Icy helping with crowd control and Golden at the register, things could easily spiral out of control.  Thankfully, nothing but an adorable little zebra filly was taking up Candy's attention for now...

The next customer through the door would be an exceptionally well-dressed young stallion, suited well to a Canterlot club, even in the hot tourist sun of Los Pegasus.  For all that, the monocled lavender unicorn kept a cool disposition as he breezed through the door like a smoke ring.  "Ah, capital place this!  The cry goes round the castle walls, the candies of old, of our ancestor's sweet memories, come alive again like the King of Ravens in our hour of need!  The bastion of sweet teeth are relieved of siege...."

His appearance and casual loquaciousness would be somewhat familiar to Ice Storm, if she had ever met Prince Blueblood's personal secretary before, as this was he.  Wordsworth Psmith, a young noble of not too high nor too rich a birth to be above earning his keep with a little labor in service to a public official in a private capacity.  But what was he doing here?

  21. Being the sort of pony she was, Ambrosia was likely to care about appearances far, far after she had ceased to be young.  Starting early, never stopping, much like her Auntie Rarity in a way.  Hopefully that would not be the cause of gossip concerning her ancestry later on down the line...

But for now, she trotted in the sun as happy as any apple, even using her magic to pick up an apple alongside Twilight Sparkle.  "Look, I can do that too!"  She beamed, able to lift the lighter and less-resistant fruit easier than the rock inside the basement.  The alicorn would note, however, the sigh of relief once she let it go, and the disinclination to pick up another.  Practice took a bit out of her, it seemed.

"Uh..."  Amby stopped to consider the Princess' question.  What did she want to be when she grew up?  What sort of job entailed looking pretty, being admired, and wearing beautiful dresses?  She was almost ready to say a Princess, but the book momma had read to her was pretty clear that Princesses were also expected to don battle armor and vanquish the forces of evil on occasion, which was not her kind of style at all.  Thankfully, time enough at Carousel Boutique had cued her into the perfect alternative career path.  "A model for Auntie Rarity!  She makes the best dresses!"

  22. Ambrosia giggled at the idea of teleporting her brother into a lake.  Zappers could be a bit of a stinker at times, in more ways than one, so it would be nice to join mama among the ranks of ponies who could force him to take a bath.  "No, I haven't Auntie Twilight.  But he does stink sometimes!  Especially after his flight exercises, his wingpits are P.U.!"  No doubt Twilight could say a thing or two about stinky wingpits herself; not that Amby would ever even think of Princesses having stinky wingpits, but they happened, all the same.  Just one more of those things that made them ponies still at the end of the day.

"Going outside?  Let's go outside!"  The little unicorn popped up, excited to take a walk with the Princess.  As cool as it was to receive lessons from Twilight, she needed everypony to know she was receiving lessons from Twilight, which meant she needed to get out into public with her!

    • Hearthoof 1
  23. "Uh-huh!"  Ambrosia nodded eagerly at Twilight's question.  She had been reading the beautiful picture books that the Princess had left, sometimes even without mommy's help!  Though, that usually meant only understanding half the words to look at the pretty pictures, but that volume's place was now secure in the 'beloved foalhood possessions' category for her!

It was about then that her instructor called her attention back to the rock she was still levitating in her magic.  And, all at once, she seemed to realize that she was doing something that should take a lot of energy, and she felt it.  "Oh?  Oof!"  The rock wobbled in her grip, then clattered to the floor.  Interesting... it seemed her unconscious maintenance was more steady than her conscious maintenance.  A bit like how breathing and walking went better if you didn't think about it.  Made sense, given her heritage; a lot of her magical potential was still physical in its way, and would work more like the body than the brain.
