  1. "Sweet Celestia, you some kinda scholar or somethin'?"

"Something like that; more along the lines of machinists, inventor, and mage. I travel around the world learning everything I can about magic and technology so that I can combine them in new and creative ways to help make life easier." Her experiences and travels were one of the things she was very proud of, a chance to share with anypony will was enough to get the mare yapping.

"Do you, or any of your friends and such know Rarity?!"

GearShift cringed a little at the sudden outburst.

"Um...yes, Hoity Troity and Fancypants are both avid clients of mine. They send several of their small clockwork machines and other appliances to my shop back in Manehattan for maintence on a regular basis and every so often I personally perform scheduled tune ups and repairs on their personal yachts." GearShift was completely taken aback by the sudden energy the mare displayed, to say she was uncomfortable would be understatement of the year. "As you may know, Fancypants and Hoity have both recommended Rarity's dresses before, which caused both of her explosions in popularity."

  2. GearShift's search for knowledge and inspiration lead her all around the world, from Aquelia to the Savannah and this time to Ponyville. The salmon colored unicorn strolled throw the streets of Ponyville, wagon in tow, with a look somewhere between a scowl and bitter smirk paint across her muzzle. She wasn't angry, it was just a look that she had the bad habit of holding even after she was done working on her magitek machines. As she made her way down the cobblestone roads a piece of paper smacked her across the face.

She peeled the offending object from her muzzle and stared down at it, as if expecting an apology. Her amber eyes scanned the flier, yanking out every bit of info. GearShift squealed like a little filly when she finished reading, the thought of an adventure through the Everfree Forest filled her with unimaginable joy. She'd heard much about the strange magical properties of the place, but now she would actually get to go research it herself. Following the instructions she headed off towards the forest.

Several ponies were already at the edge of the forest by the time she had arrived, A unicorn, an earth pony, and a pegasus by the looks of it. She trotted up to them, the goggles around her neck swayed with each step.

From the way the ponies were standing, and the manner they introduced themselves GearShift deduced that the light blue unicorn was Ice Storm. She unhitched herself from her mobile work space and exchanged a contents of her saddlebags with those of the carts. She turned around and parted her red and black two tone mane so that her eyes could be seen and looked at three ponies present.

"Hello, I am GearShift, researcher, machinist, inventor, and mage. I saw these fliers and I just couldn't past up chance to do some field observation in the Everfree, oh the idea of the discoveries I could make in here just sends a chill down my spine!"

  3. [OOC: Hope you don't mind if I come in here.]

Arik was always looking for deserted towns and structures and the like. He was going to make big things happen for the newly refurbished town of Arbu, but all would be for naught if he couldn't house his citizen, his Crimson Wings. His friend closest friend and "asset acquisition" adviser Brown Sugar, had suggested he check out the small empty settlement near the road between Tenpony and Friendship City. Sugar's suggestions usually lead the griffin to a situation where he has to jump through a million and one hoops of horse-apples, but Arik had to admit, the profit was always worth the insanity.

Lo and behold, predictable as the rising of the sun, the crap had started. Off in the distance, some fool pony had fired on the blood wing swarm, bringing down the beasts wrath upon a caravan, the poor souls didn't stand a chance. The burgundy griffin watched the entire thing go down through a window in one of the buildings situated in the abandoned structures. He began to turn his head away from the slaughter, but his [Enhanced Sensors] EFS told him that the situation was not as it seemed.

"Survivors?" He said scratching his chin in intrigue.

He squinted in the direction of the gunfire, he saw several dim flashes and the blasting of some sort of chain gun, but that isn't what caught most of his attention. [Enhanced Sensors] A small group, outlined by his cybernetic eyes, was skulking away from the massacre and towards the small derelict establishment.

"Hmmm, a griffin." He mused. Arik, focused for a second to activate his pipbuck. He slowly faded from existence. "This could be fun." He watched as they headed towards an empty building. Before they entered he flew out of the window and positioned himself outside their temporary shelter to eavesdrop of the party. He peaked into the building through a window opposite the three survivors. "Two ponies, one griffin..." He took a closer look at the griffin and the pony's wear "...a Blackwing merc, some other pony, and," He began to scowl, "Enclave."

Their conversation confirmed his observations, Arik's anger began to boil over. He had dealt with the Enclave before, pompous jerks the lot of them. When they wanted something they take simply take it, no bartering. His claws gripped the side of the building, causing a loud crack.

"S***!" He said a bit too loud for his own good.

  4. You can still jump in, though we had a lot posting in the beginning they sort of disappeared. It's only me and imagination now. Technically, unless the others come back, its only the 3 of us.

Or you can start your own RP thread. I'll be happy to jump in.

I wouldnt dare start my own because im just a bad planner. But I will see a jumping in.

  5. So, I'm currently in the middle of reading FO:E, and am also in the middle of a playthrough of FO:NV, AND have an interest in joining this.

These threads seem active, and I'm feeling like trying to get back into some RPing, so let's make a character and see what happens.

It doesn't seem like we have a melee character, and it's always really funny playing as an Unarmed/Melee fighter even when there are better/safer options available. Guess what kind of character I'm making?

Also, it seems like we're starting at level 6, considering most everyone has about 6 perks, not including their "party perk" that affects everyone. I'm also assuming that we're simply using "ponified" perks from the normal Fallout universe. If not, and we're allowed to make our own perks... I have one that's mostly for teh lulz, but still fair (Dumb Luck (Req: 1 Int): You're almost too dumb to live. +1 Luck, you're going to need it...)

Cool, nice to have another FoE roleplayer.

Strictly melee naw, but Arik can definitely go melee. Good luck with character creation, lets see what monstrosity you make.

  6. [[OOC: I gave it two days]]

"Guiding Starlight," said the cocoa unicorn in reply to GearShift. She quickly added, "I'm from... somewhere that doesn't hear much news."

"Nice to meet you Guiding Starlight." GearShift said with a huge smile plastered across her face. "That's okay, especially out here on the frontier."

"I'd like to hear about this Twilight Sparkle's friends, but, er, what's an Element of Harmony? It sounds important."

GearShift's amber eyes focused on the unicorn, and her jaw went slack. She could understand not being in the loop with recent events, but not even knowing about the Elements of Harmony...they were legendary, they were in nearly every children's book about modern Equestria, and everyone who's heard of Nightmare Moon knows about the Elements.

"Well, I guess I'll start with the Elements. The Elements are these six magical items of great power, together the represent harmony; The elements are kindness, generosity, honesty, laughter, loyalty, and magic. Truthfully, I have no idea where they came from, some ponies believe that Celestia created them, but I doubt that. What I do know is that they have a track record of defeating evil creatures, I don't know if they do anything else." She used her magic to open her saddle bags again, this time in search of a book. The book was bound in brown leather and was a little on the large size, she opened it up to the exact page with an illustration of the Elements of Harmony. She pointed a hoof at each Elements as she called out its name.

"Well as I said, Twilight is Celestia's student and an element of harmony; then there is Fluttershy, she was a big time model for like a week other than that, I don't know much about her; Pinkie Pie, I know she helped with the festivities at the royal wedding; Rainbow Dash, she was at the best young fliers competition...made a sonic rainboom, I saw that from Froggy Bottom Bog. She did it again for the wedding; Applejack is one of the Apples, I know she did the pastries for the wedding. Now that i think about it she's probably related to that Braeburn stallion; and finally there's Rarity she's a fashion designer with a little bit of renown to her name. Last I checked they all still lived in Ponyville." She levitated a photo out from her saddle bag, it depicted the sky with a strange rainbow colored wave of energy propagating across it. She also pulled out three magazines and a newspaper article, the newpaper article was about the attack on canterlot by the changelings, and the magazines had several articles in them about Fluttershy, Rarity, and the wedding.

"Oh and each of Twilight's friends also have an Element of Harmony. If you believe the news those six mare beat Nightmare Moon and Discord. Crazy right?" She finished with a giggle.

"I kind of want to meet Twilight Sparkle face to face, i've seen them, but never met them."

  7. "Nice to meet you Boxy!" GearShift said excitedly, she was glad she hadn't been to abrasive. "Sure, how about some custom brewed root beer, and a slice of fresh baked pie...what the hay, change that to a whole pie. I feel kind of generous so anypony else who wants some pie speak up and I'll take care of it." As she spoke she casually used her telekinesis to unsnap the latches on the right side of her saddle bags and pulled out brown chest. She sat the chest on the bar and used her magic to open it up, the contents shone brilliantly as rows and rows of gold bits were exposed. GearShift removed the eight bits needed to pay for her food and drink and magically placed them on the counter top, with that done she placed the chest back in her saddle bag.

"And to answer both of your questions, I wasn't there, but I have acquaintances all over Equestria. You see I'm a travelling mechanic-slash-engineer, my travels take me everywhere and back again." She made a wide arcing motion with her hooves to emphasize the "everywhere" as she spoke.

"Anyway to the point, when i was barely old enough to leave home I attended a prestigious University of mechanical and magical engineering in Canterlot. Many of my friends from the university were the children of nobles so they are still in the city, most of them attended the wedding. Those are the ponies that gave me the best pieces of info, like Celestia fighting, and Twilight and Shining Armor being siblings, and the changeling queens name. The rest I just heard through the grapevine or picked up in the news as a traveled." GearShift's mood had been pleasant but the word friend came out laced with an audible venom, but it was just a word and once it past from her mind she released a scowl that he had unintentionally wore. The joy of ponies who seemed legitimately interested, even though they likely was just checking the validity of her story, made GearShift truly happy.

"And as for Twilight Sparkle...I'm honestly baffled as to how everypony in Equestria doesn't know of her." She rubbed her chin in bewilderment. "Not only is she the personal student of Princess Celestia, but she is one of the Elements of Harmony. You know the six mares that have saved the world TWICE! I also know a decent amount about her friends as well." She looked back and forth between the ponies at the bar. Wow, I guess the news really doesn't travel well out here.

"Oh by the way I didn't catch your name..." GearShift said as she looked at the Cocoa unicorn.

  8. post-3684-0-59740300-1338413393_thumb.png

"Yea, the bartender has got the gist of it right. I wasn't there myself, but I am well informed." A light salmon unicorn mare said as she stepped into the bar. Her mane and tail was dull candy red one side intertwined with a deep black on the other. She scanned the room around her, stopping only to briefly gaze at the ponies occupying the bar. GearShift trotted up to the counter, her black welding goggles swung from left to right with each step. She took a seat at the counter and patted her black leather saddlebags to make sure they closed and nothing would fall out. She placed a fore leg on the counter and rested her head on her exposed hoof as she looked to the two other patrons.

"The unicorn Princess Cadence married, whom Queen Chrysalis tried to steal was Royal Guard Capt. Shining Armor." GearShift said with a half lidded expression.

"Twilight Sparkle, the mare that Chrysalis locked up is the captain's little sister, which is why she was there. Apparently she had called Chrysalis out before, but no one believed her, anyway she escaped with the real Cadence and called the queen out again the with the real Cadence backing her up."

"It was crazy from what i've heard, even Princess Celestia allegedly got her hooves dirty in this conflict." She was rubbing her hooves together in excitement at the chance to interact with some ponies. She'd been stuffed up in her wagon so long with nothing but machinery she had started to forget that other ponies even existed.

"I'm really surprised though that you messed up Twilight Sparkles name. I didn't want to believe it, but i guess they really aren't known." She shrugged.

The mare shifted a little worried that perhaps she had just put them off with her info dump. "Sorry...for blasting you guys with info, force of habit. The names GearShift."

  9. That way people who want a really powerful character have to earn it, and prove that they can RP responsibly before they are handed powers that can be abused, and there's a means by which for Unicorns to learn additional spells to keep them from being one-note in that aspect.

Because, after all, they are there and easily available for anypony to study, whether they're strictly in school for magic or not. There has to be a reason for that, Twi can't be the only pony who can improve with time, and the study of magic can't be that much of a trade secret if directions are just everywhere. Ponies in general might prefer sitting around and hanging out with their friends (even the mane six, and extraordinary group, prefer to do this when they don't need to save the day) instead of studying as a rule, but that doesn't mean that there aren't other diligent unicorns out there looking to get better at magic.

    ^ I couldn't agree more.

I was actually somewhat scared for that my OC might be rejected because of her powers.

She is an engineer and her cutie mark is two gears, but her special talent is methodology (IE her talent is problem solving with, and the anaylsis of, specific components such as phases, tasks, methods, techniques and tools).

She earned her three powers, through diligent use of her abilities, practice and study. As a filly she use to assembly watches with telekinesis, and how to mold/repair pieces with heat magics. Her teleportation is just another side effect of her diligence, she wants to perfectly combine technology and magic one day so she strives to do her best.

So I completely agree that characters should be allowed to advance their skills.

  10. If you don't have time to read the chapters, I suggest listening to an audio e-book of Fallout Equestria. You can pick up the lore and canon through there. The guy who does the e-book reading sounds a lot like the actual guy in the Fallout 3 game when he goes "War... war never changes."

Check out his channel here: http://www.youtube.c...corch238/videos

There is also a Fallout Equestria Radio Drama in the works. A lot of fan VAs (like BaldDumboRat, the girl who does the fanon Derpy) are pooling together to make this into a reality: http://falloutequest...dio.tumblr.com/

Thanks for the links. Its actually really good to.

Also as a cool little piece of Info, That picture I drew of Arik got added to the fallout equestria group on Deviant Art.

  11. The raider attack was ended not long ago, the new head of Arbu, a griffon by the name of Arik BlackFeather, lead his town's defensive efforts. He almost lost several good ponies in that attack, but he wouldn't have let that happen if he could do anything to stop it and for his efforts Arbu stands for another day, and he got riddled with bullets.

Arik sat on the bed in Dr. Silver Heart's office, seemed like he spent a lot of time there lately. Silver Heart was a butterscotch colored unicorn mare with blue eyes and a blonde and tail, definitely easy on the eyes for a pony in Arik's book. The moment Silver stepped into the room it was as if the temperature dropped several degree's, but it was just her glaring icily at the griffin, who despite being one individual seemed to eat through more medical supplies then all of New Arbu. He stared her in the face, she stared back; Arik buckled...yes a full grown griffin buckled to a mare that was at most three fifths his size.

"Hi." he said awkwardly trying to avoid the verbal lashing that he knew was coming.

She said nothing, for a few moments until she finally let out a loud sign. "Take your jacket off." Silver trotted over to a cabinet and pulled out bandages, gauze, salve tweezers, and purified water.

The Griffon removed his black leather jacket, the memento of his now dead wife, off and sat it to the side. Arik's white head feathers were stained rusty brown and his burgundy fur and feathers were matted and moist with life fluids. Silver slid a stool up to him to that she could sit at chest level to the griffon. She levitated the tweezers and the water near her and began her work.

She started to dig into his flesh in pursuit of each bullet, she started to talk out loud calling out each bullet she plucked; Arik didn't know if it was intentional or if she was losing herself.

    "10mm." *Clink*

    "10mm." *Clank*

    "10mm." *Clink*

".45 acp." Silver telekinetically dropped the bullets into a metal tray, with each round removed a loud clink clank reverberated through the air as metal struck metal.

    "5.56." *Clank*

    "5.56." *Clink*

"5.56." Her voice began to crack and her mouth started to scrunch up.

    "7.62." *Clank*

".308." That one almost pierced through his muscle.

    "Second degree burns."

"Shrapnel...." She couldn't take it anymore and collapsed into Arik's arms crying. He ran his metal talons through her mane in an attempt to comfort her. She was like a daughter to him, and he hated to see her like this. He blamed himself for letting her see him like this, he could easily take care of wounds like this himself, but she had insisted on him letting her handle his wounds.

"It's okay little one." His voice was like a soul soothing medicine for her, she had stopped shaking now and seem to gain some composure from the sound of his voice.

"Why...why do you do this to yourself? You can't save everypony!"

"I'm not trying to, but this town, it's my home...and everyone in it, my family. And be damned if I let anyone take my family. My ambition is going to make Arbu a target, and you all are my responsibility." He leaned down and rested his head atop hers. They don't know how long they stayed like that, the hours seemed to just melt away.

It' was night time before he left Silvers home. Arik told her everything knew about himself, everything Arbu was before, and his plans for what he wanted Arbu to be in the future. His wounds where all dressed, and his jacket was stitched up and repaired (she took such great care of him) so he took his leave of her. They exchanged hugs and deep looks at her door.

"You do too much." She nuzzled his neck feathers.

"I don't do enough." He wouldn't let the town meet an end like it's previous incarnation did. Though they deserved it, he still didn't agree with the fact that it happened. He still loved them.

He felt like the entire town saw.

He took to the sky, nothing fancy just a low glide so that he could see around the town. The night air in his feathers helped to clear his head as he thought about His relationship with Silver. He knew how she felt towards him and he'd lying through his beak if he said he didn't have feeling for her as well, but damn it she deserved better than him. She didn't need some bullet ridden, trader slash mercenary as her special someone. All he would do is bring her grief as she worried for him during his wasteland excursions, and tears as she licked his wounds clean. Plus he was probably old enough to be her father or grandfather even though he didn't look it (being a cyborg has its advantages). Yet he had these feelings, and he knew those weren't the reasons he wasn't letting them out. No his reason was simple, he couldn't be tied down, at least not yet, not until Arbu was on the map as a prospering trade town.

He landed on his house and went in through his rooftop entrance, once in his room he removed the rechargeable powercells from both of his arms and laid down on his bed. For now he'd rest, but tomorrow he would sun bathe and recharge all his powercells then head out for adventure. He had brought ponies back to Arbu, now it was time to revive the commerce.

"Maybe I'll head to Tenpony Tower, it's close, and i haven't been there yet." Arik said as he drifted off to sleep.

  13. The super mutant counterpart in Fallout Equestria are the Unity Alicorns (Artificially created alicorns made by the "Goddess", an entity of several consciousnesses but one dominant consciousness controlling all of them, think of the Borg in Star Trek, but unlike the borg queen who controls everything some alicorns retain their individuality).

    Other creatures of note:

Bloodwings - giant mutated life sucking bats

    Bloat Sprites - mutated parasprites

Radgators - think of Gummy, now think Gummy increased to a size of a car to a bus, now think of Gummy with teeth

Radhogs - mutated pigs, nuff said

Brahmin - same as the Fallout 3/NV ones, some of them can talk too

Radscorpions - same as the Fallout 3/NV ones

    Cool. Also, how's this?

    http://www.canterlot...kfeather-final/

I might draw him if i feel like it.
