1. She was too close. Muuuch too close. Not that it was unpleasant in any way. It...it just was happening way too fast! He wasn't ready for this!

And the way that she was saying about being 'comfortable' and 'less worried'. To be honest, Swift started panicking a little!

Not that he was coward in any way. He used to stand against unfair odds and dangers that would make most other ponies blood freeze in the veins. Ninja warriors, beast of the Unyasi wildness, pirates and many others threats was not enough to make him blink. In fact, Squall was the calmest when at hair's breadth from doom.

It was a bit silly, but sitting and being hugged by mare that he had a crush for, terrified a sworstallion!

    And then she kissed him...

Never mind that it was kiss on the cheek. It was enough to make Swift as red as tomato. Especially after all that talk from her. He could feel his face burning and his head filled with embarrassment, excitement and....happiness? Did she noticed him blushing? Of course she noticed! Unless she suffered sudden case of temporary blindness. Could...could it be that Fire was teasing him?

"I-is that s-s-s-strange? A-after a-all it's what f-friends are f-for, haha?" he spoke, stuttering like a total dork. Not being able to stand it anymore unicorn rised up to his still shaking legs. "I-I-I-I-I need to u-use the r-restroom. Yes, t-thats it! R-restroom!" he 'explained' before making a temporary retreat, as fast as his wobbling legs allowed him to go.

  2. Swift Squall wasn't even attempting to have a say in the conversation. For once, stallion settled with just listening to others. This was only partially true, however. Deep down unicorn was worried about Fire. She was kind of...nervous and more quite then usual. It could be the fact that was the wedding of her...ex-coltfriend? Sworstallion clutched his teeth for a second. Even after he and Dunder resolved this case between themselves during their trip too Itaily, Swift couldn't help but to feel a small surge of envy and anger.

Yet somehow, he knew that wasn't the case this time. Something happened between their last meeting. Fillydelphia Count never was an expert with social skills, but Squall had a feeling that it would be best if he didn't ask for anything and just be nearby. Yes, simply being the company for the red mare would suffice...at least for now. He will ask her to loiter around the Ponyville after the ceremony.

Dunder voice pulled Squall out from his thoughts. Unicorn just smirked when brown pegasus introduced him too Muggo. Silly Dunder was so nervous that he forgot that Swift and Muggo knew themselves well already. Of course it wasn't strange at all - hard to bee stoic when you are getting married. What pined Swift attention was this 'Midnight' mare. From the first sight of her, swordstallion was sure that she seemed familiar...Swift was sure that he heard a story or two about mare that was named such....

Midnight all but locked up at this introduction from Dunder. What was he doing? To so carelessly throw it out there... She supposed she should have made it clearer in their time traveling together that her past was a sensitive area for her. Because of what had happened, it was something she tried to distance herself from. She couldn't really blame Dunder she supposed; in his mind he was probably just introducing her to help make it easier for her to mingle. She did have to clarify things quickly though.

"That's... uh... I mean... former REA soldier is what should be said. I've been... retired from service since Hopesong was born..." she looked downward and coughed. "I'm just a humble, everyday adventurer now. Nothing more, nothing less."

That few lines from the mare was enough for Swift to realize who she was. After all, one of her former subordinate was one of his instructors. Even after all these years, tales about 'Midnight the Dreaded' still flew around between REA soldiers. The fact that Dunder knew such pony as her was a shock for a swordstallion. Swift made a quick glance at the earth pony flank. The Cutie Mark matched perfectly, there was no mistaking it. Swift quickly excused himself and trotted to Fire direction. When he walked beside Midnight he gave her a careful, studious look. He didn't told her anything but his eye spoke for him - 'I know who you are.' they clearly said, hidden behind green sunglasses.

As he made his way to Fire, now pondering which of the tasty sandwiches. Unicorn tapped mare shoulder to get her attention and whispered to her ear. "Fire...did you ever heard about Midnight Brand? The one called 'Midnight the Dreaded'? Well...I believe she is one of the guests."

  3. "You do know I do not approve of what you do. At least how you handle it. I know The R.E.A in your hometown is a bit..", she tried to think of a nice word and bit her bottom lip as she did, "Intermediate, but I could only imagine the help you could give if you worked for them as opposed to against them. I know a few of their leaders in Fillydelphia who are near retirement. My father knows them well. He generally refers to them in words I could not say in public. Near children."

"You know Fire, this was the point of this sneaking part - too gain the proof of the crew illegal activities, present them to REA officials in the city and let them handle the rest. And I don't oppose them! I donated them much needed equipment few times already." Swift protested before taking the first sip "And your pops is completely right about Fillydelphia Garrison leadership. I just hope they will go away quickly. They are few cool younger officers there but...a drop in the bucket. I wish more REA ponies would choose Filly for their allocation. A few with a elastic approach like yourself, and all would be easier. That reminds me...why you are still living with your parents?"

"Sorry.", the mare apologized, "But you put your influence and wealth behind helping the city, I know things will get better and you won't get yourself killed. Just work with my father. Work with whoever will listen. Not sure what good I could do, but I know some people out there who would be willing to help."

"You too nice. After all, I am the last heir of only remaining Founding Family. It's my...obligation, I think." with a slight effort, Swift managed to sit "I don't know...I just can't turn a blind eye when something unjust happens. I know it's puts me into a trouble...like this recent one - smugglers, pirates, sharks, killer whales and kraken - yet I can't do simply nothing!" said the unicorn with sudden outburst of emotion, but his face became gloomy immediately after "I just hope that it's enough to make a difference." swordstallion added mumbling, and sighted.

"You know that griffon, right? I can be wrong...but he didn't made a positive first impression on me." Swift glared at, now distant Razor "Speaking of past...you still do that tai-chi sessions that I showed you after the wedding?"

  4. “Don’t worry Sir Squall. I believe somepony believed we would run into each other today. When I was shopping for beach stuff, I was given a package.”, she nodded at Fast Track who opened up a small bag. This bag contained a pair of sunglasses the unicorn would normally wear and a pair of stylish swim-trunks.

"It was my doing. When I was heading to the sea, I send similar packages to the shops I am benefactor off all over the coast - along with photos off ponies who should receive such packages if spotted. It's pure luck that I ended here thought <cough, cough>" swordstallion explained while pulling on swim-trunks with his magic.

Then, he just sit on the towel listening to Fire story with calm, yet curious expression. Although he gulped once when mare got down beside him. She was...warm, just as her name would suggest.

His serene face soon shifted into one torn between concern and anger, even more as the pegasus story progressed. And then when she finally thanked him, he hugged her. Tightly.

"If I would know...." Squall whispered to her ear "And don't let the things he said get to you. He was the being of greed and envy, but now he's gone, blown to pieces." he said, displaying surprising knowledge about Fire tormentor.

"The guy you encountered is known in Unyasi as Kivuli Mfalme, and I heard about him from zebra shamans. He was an unicorn millennium ago..."

Swift started talking about usurper of the Crystal Kingdom, his unspeakable crimes, first defeat by the hooves of the Princesses, and finally his demise - about which he learned through reporters and journalists who worked for his father.

"...so as you see he's gone, and for good. Although now I wish I got piece of a ******* for myself, to beat loving daylight out of him." swordstallion sunglasses shined in the 'sinister' way.

"And now I guess now it comes a moment when I tell you how did I got here? It all started when I learned about a ship, that supposed to transport contraband to Aquelia, has docked in my city. My...informers aren't exactly...trusted by the law department - they are orphans and pickpockets. I pay for there excesses and in turn, they are my eyes and ears in Fillydelphia. Nevertheless...hearing that some ship crew are the smugglers, and proving it are two different things. I sneaked aboard the ship to gain evidence and indeed I have found it. Yet, on my way out, ship boatswain dropped a piano on me using riparian crane. I was to slow and got hit, and immediately after that smugglers ganged up against me. Normally I would give them their rumps but I was all woozy from the earlier impact. One of them hit me in the back of the my head and everything blacked out...<cough,cough>" stallion paused for a moment, to catch his breath before resuming "When I woke up, I was locked in small cabin and the ship was already on the sea. My single possession was my duster, I got restriction ring on my horn and weapons and equipment I had with myself previous night were taken...with one little exception. I had hidden small file in my mane, ideal to take on bars or other metal parts. Unfortunately the doors were wooden, there was no window and the guard was sitting outside. I was forced to focus on the massive door hinges. It took me three uptight nights to wear them enough while the warden was napping, all the time they were feeding me poorly, with only bread and little water. Now I wonder why they kept me around, guess they wished to get ransom or something, and they wanted to soften me up with thirst and hunger....Anyway, on the fourth morning when my jailer was bringing me breakfast, I bucked the door and it's weight pinned the poor sap down. Before he could scream for help I knocked him out with hoof to the face. From him, I got key to my horn rings. Using my average magical skills I repaired the cabin door and put mine jailer inside. I also took his clothes and wrapped them around my hooves to silence the steps. I managed to sneak into the vessel hold, where I retrieved all my stuff. I also took a decent meal. When I got out of the hold, I found out that smugglers were already armed and alerted...which was strange, for they shouldn't know about my escape yet. I knocked out all off the captors I came across, on my way to the main deck. When I got to the sun, for first time in four day I realized why they were so livid. The smugglers got ambushed by the pirates and I just emerged into the massive rumble ensuing on two clenched ships..." Swift stopped right there, with his voice a little worn out from this talking "Something to drink please?"

  5. "Fire? It's not your turn yet. I should have a nightmare today..." unicorn said, still a little delusional. And then he noticed that something was off. First, where was his duster? And why he is on the beach? Everything? What everything? Then few gears in his head started spinning as crimson mare gave him a couple gulps of water. Everythin got clear, at last in his mind. By the starts, did he said that aloud!? Sweet Celestia he did! And she landed the kiss on his muzzle. His face turned red even before he opened his mouth.

"I-I mean...usually I d-dream about our group h-hanging up together a-and all, hahaha. Ugghhh...everything too bright...I lost my sunglasses." he added, but somehow knew that it didn't seemed very convincing. He sighted and then coughed couple of times. The salt in seawater burned his throat a little, making his voice a little husky. He looked at Fire, with a apologizing expression. Pegasus didn't liked his scars apparently.

"Not...exactly a pretty look, isn't it? Sorry, I didn't intended to ever show you this 'collection'. I could remove those...but I kept them, to remind me about my mistakes..and how stupid I can be at times..." Swift Squall confessed. "You want to know how I ended here? Where should I start?" sworstallion pondered for a moment, but then got an idea "I will tell you...but only if have to tell me what happened during your last mission in return. Swift make a slight smile.

  6. So, a low range PC with TV out? that was made in the mid-80's and it failed ridiculously (IBM PC-JR, Tandy) well, those failed because they were way overpriced. But this steam thing sounds well priced. But should be based on something already done, perhaps an ARM CPU business with 256MB of RAM, think on a tablet without screen, I bet on that not being able to run modern games or full versions...

I would be careful in underestimating Valve project. Remember that people labeled the X-Box as the "PC in console clothes"? Well I thoughts so too...Until Bill Gates machine showed me a thing or two. That's true that there was spectacular failures in the past, but thats precisely the reason why Valve heave the bigger chances with succeeding - they can learn from mistake of others.

But in the end, it matters little if they hit a jackpot or not. If they fail, "Sure, whatever". And if they succeed? That will mean that a rivalry between the systems on the market will flare up even more. The companies will be forced to invent a new ways to please us and give us better exclusives (because they will still be there, I assure you). In the end we can only gain from this, as we have nothing to lose.

  7. ~Prince Rubyn, the Diamond Halls~

Seeing the Bel'Rahmane on the ground, and noticing the Black Knight reaching for his fabled spear within his cloak, Rubyn's eyes widened as he shouted out; "Black Knight, cease!", advancing forward swiftly while he secretively pressed a button on the hidden Qai'Maga next to his right hoof...it will send a distress signal to a nearby Sul'jin, and hopefully suppress the magic-wielding unicorn that laid before him.

Just when the Black Knight was ready to rip out the answers from the laying Bel'Rahmane he heard the voice of the Prince of Ravens. The black clad warrior turned his head toward approaching Rubyn but he didn't lowered his spear. Even if Prince called reinforcements, unicorn had to be at least crippled - just in case. Before General had a chance to explain this to Rubyn through, future Emperor, closed the distance gave Black Knight an angry look and started again.

"...stand down, by order of your Prince. The Bel'Rahmane is to be contained...not impaled, understand? He may have fell victim to the temptation of magic...but he is still an equine, no matter what he has done or how low he may have sunken to." Rubyn set his gray-blue eyes on Dusk for a moment, before looking back at the Black Knight, his tone caustic. "...am I clear, General?"

For a few seconds both ponies stood there, glaring at each other - even if Prince had to look up to gaze into oculars in Black Knight helm. And suddenly, a metal clanking was heard. The Great General was apparently shaking in fury...or so one would think until a deep chuckle was heard. He tuned away completely to face the Prince, exposing his back to Dusk. He couldn't penetrate his armor anyway.

"Ahahaha....Ohohohoh!...Goodwin was completely right! Great spirit indeed. Very well my Prince...I obey - In face of such confidence, how could I not?" Black Knight asked the rhetorical question before lowering his spear. But he did not put it back on place, one couldn't be too careful. The General wanted to ask Rubyn for his motivation of such...mildness but before he could, the Bel'Rahmane opened his mouth, unasked and interrupted the armor clad stallion.

“No, you won’t take me. I’ll find a way out, I always do. I can’t be trapped, I’m Dusk Umbrosa Verenae!”

"The dog without fangs barks the loudest. Now be silent or I will make you so! You before the heir of the Empire." he scolded him, not even bothering to look at Dusk.

The next moment happened very quickly, a sound of a galloping hooves and a loud crash. The Black Knight spun around far faster then a pony of his size should be capable too. A single "What?" escaped his lips. He readied his weapon for thrust but didn't risk a strike. He could hit a EVA soldier and besides unauthorized entry he didn't do anything that should be awarded with death....yet. Fortunately, Prince of Ravens somehow managed to split both ponies apart. But then Vereane did something completely unexpected...

Once Dusk had his hooves under himself again, he dusted himself off, readjusted his cloak and saddlebags, grabbed his hat and put it back on his head, then kneeled before the Prince.

“I understand that I have very few options here, and many of them result in me having less skin and being a lot less lively. So, I’ve come to a conclusion, the only one that ends with me being alive, and having a chance at freedom again,” he then took a deep breath, and lowered his voice a considerable amount,” I, Dusk Umbrosa Verenae, offer myself as Tov’kin to the Prince of Ravens. I will serve him till he releases me, or till he dies, or till I die.” He looked about a bit, then walked over to his fallen dagger, picked it up by the blade, and went back to kneeling in front of the Prince. He then took the dagger in one hoof and placed it against the soft center of his other hoof. “I swear this,” he then pressed the dagger in his hoof and pulled it down, cutting himself and letting blood flow out of his hoof, he then slammed his cut hoof on the ground, letting the blood slowly spread from it,”...in my own blood, which I would never betray.” He then looked up slightly, so he could see the Prince past the brim of his hat, waiting to see how his offer would be taken.

"What?" once again said the Black Knight. Then he turned his head towards the Prince and started speaking in amused tone.

"Now isn't that interesting Young Prince? He wishes to became a tool. And he made blood oath on top of this. This is first such occurrence I seen or heard from the male unicorn." the General paused to ponder something before he resumed "The magic of the blood oath is extremely strong,so who knows? Maybe it will even ward off the taint. And this Bel'Rahmane doesn't seem to be broken too much anyway, he had enough cleverness to save his life with such a plan. If I were you, You Highness I would take him as an experiment. He can't hurt you now anyway, even if he wished too. Care to rename you new toy?" Black Knight teased the prince with a question. Then he turned to face Chainmail.

"Attention, soldier! That was pretty... reasonable thing you did. But it doesn't tell why you were away from your post. Explain." General ordered in harsh, but not angry tone.

  8. Not so far from them, a single pony dragged himself out of the water. This stallion wasn't in exactly the good shape. The bruises and cuts were all over his body, his trench coat was in rags, scabbard and hilt of his sword was covered with clamps and on his head was bunch of seaweed - making him look like a rock star from the bottom of the sea. The unicorn pulled forward with his hooves a few inches more before he decided to give up and just lay at the border of the sea.

"Note to self....never cut ship bottom ever again. No matter what." Swift Squall weakly muttered before he begun to throw up a seawater from his stomach. "Now...just some mud drinks...and then I will....wrestle a train to Filly...I want broccoli." exhausted stallion spat even more nonsense in the delusion. At that moment, a crab small crab walked out of the seaweed and apparently having enough of this ridiculousness, gnawed at his ear with its pincer.

"ARGGHHHH! Cut it out! I mean n-no! Don't cut in any deepe...! Ayyiiieeee! Abomination! Stop! STOP! You sick monster! a pony trashed around weakly, but swordstallion was too weak to throw crustacean from his head.

  9. I like to start this discussion with a tale of the experience of mine. Few years ago when I was playing D&D (which I no longer do, many of my old friends had moved from my city) we was playing and quite diversified campaign, in terms of content. There was a dungeons crawling, an murder investigation in the city and our team ever got involved in the siege of the another one, and full fledged battle. While the adventure was full of clichés (well used and with a taste, but still clichés) it was one of most memorable ones I ever had,. Why?

Simple. The GM was music lover.

Not only that, his intuition of using the music was just perfect. When we traveled through the catacombs, he played a unnerving themes (from first Diablo if I remember) that gave us the shivers . When on battlefield, a inspiring heroic theme, to get our blood pumping. And when appropriate, just a 'silence' (by which I mean squeaking of rats, howling of wind and other environmental sounds), et cetera, et cetera - you got a drift.

What I have mean? The right music is invaluable ally of GM (and the players). If GM is not very good at description of the surroundings, the right music can fill up with that. And if GM is good, the right 'soundtrack' can turn great session into awesome one.

So, what's your tales with music in the paper & dice RP?

  10. "M-m-may I... uh... ask what you're... uh.... doing here?"

"Yesss....that's probably most sensible question right now." said the deep voice behind the Dusk. Both ponies then focused on ridiculously huge black-armored stallion standing over them.

"Image this...I was walking the corridors of the palace looking for something suspicious, when I found two dead guards at the Main Gate. Smoking. Fried with electricity. By some unwelcome guest." Black Knight started with 'casual' tone.

"Of course I didn't liked this at all. You see apparently Prince of Ravens is missing and I don't have time for petty intruder, but there was no other pony available so I had to track him myself, and that made me ABSOLUTELY LIVID." stallion continued in more angry voice, before raising his armored hoof and punching Verenae across the room. The strike was not strong enough to kill him or even knock Dusk out, but it made his hat fall off, exposing his horn.

"Ahhh some questions were solved right now, like the fried guards for example. A Bel'Rahmane, how surprising." Black Knight added in sarcastic tone. "Of course that doesn't explain why YOU aren't on your post but that story can wait." General given Chainmail a disapproving gaze before once more focusing on the unicorn. "Don't try teleporting Bel'Rahmane, palace walls are enchanted for that possibility. And don't even think about resisting for you chances are less then nil. You silly magics won't help you." Black Knight warned him. "Not convinced? Fine I introduce myself in case you spend few years in some cave - which you probably did, being hunted unicorn and all. I am one of Empire Great Generals - one they call 'Black Knight'. No pony or other creature in all of Coltara bested me in combat, single or not. I ended lives of thousands Bel'Rahmane like yourself, both with and without weapon. Never did their untrained spells helped them. You can now answer my questions like a pony with tattered remains of sanity that you are - before you would be locked in the dungeon and later executed - or scream like little girl as I will forcibly pull them out of you." stallion said before pulling out collapsible spear, hidden behind his blood red cape.

  11. 'Black Knight' - Within a Diamon Halls, few minutes earlier.

~Empress Tulipia, within the Diamond Halls~

When the Black Knight began speaking of the information he had been able to obtain from Rubyn's former teacher, she could only sigh slightly. "...ah, Master Goodwin. He was an excellent stallion, and a good friend. His passing had definitely shaken Rubyn. Although, neither of you mentioned passing letters..." Her voice took on a steel-edge at the end, for she did not like secrets being kept from her, especially by those she held close in her council. However, when she heard of the Black Knight's offer...she paused, thinking hard on his proposition.

"Ahh, but you not telling me everything either, isn't it Your Highness? For example, I recall you did much to try to keep from me the information that Rubyn was born as an unicorn." stallion commented with a snide remark "Don't worry...we have the same goals after all. This secrecy is not lack of trust...I just learned long ago, that it's not wise to put all eggs in one basket."

"...I...thank you, General Black Knight, but that will not be needed. You remember Silvertongue, correct? My former husband's best friend and personal Nightinggale? He will be taking charge of Rubyn's further instruction, as it was promised to him by the Emperor before his passing. However, if he proves incapable...I will accept your offer, Black Knight...but only then." She looked up at the moon, her eyes narrowing and her lips tightening. She spoke to herself quietly, so quietly that only herself could hear the words. "...one more hour, before my son becomes the Empire's shadow..."

"Silvertongue? How could I forget? It was I, who founded him on the mountain road after this 'ambush'. Yes, he's a great choice...even if he's little old. Depending on how much Goodwin taught to young Prince, either Silvertongue will give him hard time, or it will be other way around hahahahah!" Black Knight laughed in his deep voice amused by the thought "Still, I would like to see how much Rubyn can already do."

It was some more minutes after that before Black Knight spoke again.

"Prince is late, he should be here already....that's strange. Excuse my...'paranoia' Your Majesty but I will check if everything alright." the General bowed before the Empress and headed straight to one of the side doors.

  12. "And I say it WILL work! <plunks and screeches>....Well...I guess it won't."

Name: Garnet Vermilllion, named after her colour shame.

    Sex: Female

Age: Filly, on the very edge of adulthood.

    Birthday: December 1

    Species: Pegasus

Eye colour: Her eyes are slightly mismatched. Left iris is amber while right is gold. Unnoticeable until examined carefully.

Coat: Overall, her coat is scarlet colour. Near her hooves it turns into amaranth. She usually wears dark coloured clothes, her favorite being black 'biker' jacket.

Mane and Tail: For most of her childhood she used to have her neck long mane kept down, she only feels herself when it's spiked up on both sides of her face. Her tail is kept long, spiky and roughly 'natural' in style. Both mane and tail are vermilion and are the reasons for second part of her name.

Physique: Garnet posses curvy, voluptuous body that makes stallions droll. She is flexible, athletic and have quite long legs for a pegasus.

Residence: Born in Canterlot. Currently lives with her aunt in Stalliongrad.

Occupation: Begun studying engineering to became airship designer(or other job that will involve working with large vehicles - trains, ships whatever!) at the Stalliongrad Engineering University.

Motivation: Becoming great engineer and innovator. To inherit her father company not as a noble with bunch of stocks but as the visionary.

Cutie Mark: An airship propeller, with wrenches instead of blades. It shows her talent in airship engineering.

History part 1: Born as the second daughter to the noble family, Garnet was much loved by all of her family for she was eagerly awaited even before her birth. From her early years Garnet was very cheerful if a little forceful and headstrong girl. While she was well versed in the customs, luxury and lifestyle of her social class she always liked to do 'unladylike' things like leg-wrestling, playing superheroes and other things more fitting the colts. With passing years these traits deepened with Garnet having zero interest into becoming the proper lady - preferring to have ponysonal freedom. In school she pursued physical activity, to the point of joining gymnastic club. She did very poor in such topic like literature and history while having excellent marks in mathematics and physics. Around time of Middle School Vermilion discovered her Special Talent...

Cutie Mark Story: Around the time Garnet was in 7th Grade, she and her family had a trip in the airship factory at witch her father was part-investor. The trip was a present for her older brother, but he wasn't even as nearly excited as Garnet was. Vermilion was almost literally charmed by the large machinery and fascinated by the end product.

From that day, Garnet used her not-so-small allowance to buy books about engineering, airships and other large vehicles. She begun to read about them even at the cost of sleep (until her parents noticed and she became more careful). However the real thrill came when young Garnet ordered the advanced engineer tool set. Within the next week, all complicated devices in all of her school friends houses was mysteriously repaired. After that dared to construct something herself. The result was unimpressive miniature self-propelled engine...which after first start, flied uncontrollably from Garnet hideout in the attic and managed to crash a dinner at the parter below. Her secret now exposed, young filly brought herself to her father. To Garnet surprise however, her dad brushed whole accident aside. More importantly, something appeared on young Garnet flank! Everyone was particularly overjoyed, even her dad who still considered his daughter talent as a mere 'hobby', despite that deep inside he knew better.

History part 2: In the future he was to be proved wrong. For the time being, Garnet could experiment with various machines undisturbed. This especially worried her father who would rather prefer for young mare to be perfect model lady. He tried to subtly mold her into a role but his filly proved too wild for that. While he still allowed her to work with her gears and oils he started to openly say about them not being fitting for a mare her status. And then young Garnet found ally.

Her aunt, - a sister of his father - was sympathetic to her desire of being 'self made mare' and persuaded her sibling parent too allow Garnet chase her dream. Pointing out the futility of his attempts and calling out to his fatherly love she manages to change his mind.

Finally defeated, Garnet father realized that his daughter will never be a perfect lady as he planned. He allowed Vermilion enrollment into Stalliongrad Engineering University, just as she always wished for since gaining her Cutie Mark.

Soon after that she moved into her aunt house, waiting for her first year to start.

Personality: While Garnet is quite cheerful pony she has some problems. One is her honesty and pushy attitude, often coming to the point of rudeness. While her parent tried Vermillion to act more ladylike, they seemed to achieve opposite effect. Garnet also thinks nothing about etiquette and customs of her social class. Young pegasus deems majority of them are silly and she really is looking forward to break them (not that others know about her social class. Just for pure ponysonal satisfaction).

Vermillion does not mind being in center of attention, milking it for all it's worth - but does not actively seek it. Actually one can say it's the opposite right now as she is trying to lay low, preferring to focus on her studies. Still she was very popular in high school so the feeling is not alien to her.

Because of her passionate nature Garnet came to value personal freedom more then anything. She react badly when somepony tries to restrict her without logical reason - much to the trouble of her Ma and Pa. This extends not only to Garnet parents but at others as well. One should be very careful when using phrase 'must do' or other similar in her presence without excuse. The only pony allowed too speak to her like that is her Aunt (which Garnet feel she owns a dept) and to lesser extent - teachers.

Garnet is at her happiest when playing with machinery and when tinkering with gears and oils almost nothing can break her good mood.

The mare can get later clingy when meeting somepony with same interests. One can guess that it is her desire to be understood that made her behave as such. Just don't try to say that her new device will not work before she tries it. She has really good aim with that wrench of hers.

While overall tomboyish don't confuse Vermillion behavior with being some ladette. While rebellious Garnet has a very healthy amount of respect for herself, she isn't a type that go clubbing all night long. She has a goal, you know!

OOC: Design of her physical design (mane and body) was inspired by Kallen Stadtfeld from Code Geass. Similarities to other fictional or real characters are purely coincidental.
