    So it's been about three and a half months since I put this thing up and left it to rust. Summary of events since then:
    -School started
    -First print edition of our school newspaper came out
    -Football season came and went for my school
    -Visited MIT and Williams
    -Fell in love with the city of Boston and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
    -All-State process (most recent update: I get to sing at Pre-Area after I got first alternate bass 1 at Region!!)
    -Won a superior rating at the National Journalism Educators' Association convention in San Antonio for copy editing
    -Turned 18
    -Played the lottery and netted +$5
    -Found out my license renewals are $25 since this one lasts 6 years
    And that's about it. Quite a bit of exciting stuff, but I won't go into a ton of detail right now.
    What I might do at this point for any sort of entertainment for you is, in light of those of you bummed out by the NHL lockout (myself included), I will start up a series on the Equestrian Hockey League! I don't know how I will do it, but I can make it work. I may simply only write out details of the featured match of the round. I'm probably not going to write out all 90 match reports (though if any of you are interested, I could work something out where each of us writes up a story about each match and we draw to see who gets what match). Either way, I have teams set out and will only need to name them. To play these out, I will use the most recent edition of EA Sports NHL I have (NHL '11 ).
    Or I could also do something else sports-related with ponies. I don't know. For those interested, here are the teams as decided by random.org (I had to pull a few from fanon here and there to fill out the list of 60 starters):

    [colour=#000000]Management and coverage team: Madden on commentary, Photo Finish for action shots, Celestia and Luna as co-commissioners and Cadence and Shining Armor as appeals commissioners. Discord might pop in every now and then to help an underdog along, but I'm using an actual videogame, so he may only get credit if something outrageous happens.[/colour]
    What I'm thinking of doing is holding a double round-robin regular season, then advance the top 4 to the playoffs to determine the champions, who will receive the Royal Cup as their trophy, presented by the princes and princesses of Equestria themselves. Whether or not anyone actually follows along, I'll probably do it so I have a side project to entertain myself with.

    Hi. Welcome to my first (and maybe only) blog on Canterlot.com. This blog is for the purposes of sharing my random thoughts about life, sports, video games, ponies and anything off-the-wall on my mind.
    To start off, I've caught bits and pieces of the ongoing Games of the XXX Olympiad as well as related news. I've gotta say, this one's very interesting. Badminton players throwing matches, Michael Phelps becomes the most decorated modern Olympian, Great Britain finally sees one of its men win the 10,000m, terrible refereeing in men's boxing (5 knockdowns in the last minute and the aggressor lost!?) that was somewhat fixed (Errol Spence moves on to the round of 16 through winning an appeal), a Japanese gymnastics coach rushes to the judges' table with an American $100 bill in hand, quite the eventful games. And there is still much to come this week.
    Life has been alright lately. I finally finished my Government and Economics classes online and did well on the finals, so I don't have to take those over 9 months and get an additional class slot to fill with Computer Science, probably more useful and transferable as credit to college than American Sign Language 3 Dual Credit from my community college. I'm kinda stuck without a car right now since my older sister wrecked hers on her way to work. It was $1000 short of totaling, and then they found $2400 worth of wiring problems when they started working on it, but because they agreed to fix it, they have to fix it. It'll be about two weeks before I get my car back to myself. I'll definitely have to have it Wednesday morning since I need to register for school and I might need it on Monday to go to a help session for All-District music (I'm in choir and have done Texas Music Educators' Association's All-State process twice before. Last year, I was the first alternate Bass 1 to Area) It's a bit hard to believe I'm registering for senior year. I start school August 27. I probably should read that book I have for AP English, "The Kite Runner." And find my graphing calculator to finish my AP Physics assignment.
    My mom's having bariatric surgery on Tuesday and will be on clear liquids for the first two weeks after, then she progresses to thicker liquids, then to some solid foods over two-week intervals. It'll be October by the time she gets back onto a full-range diet. In the meantime, my older sister will also leave for the semester to study abroad in Scotland. She flies to London on September 2, spends two weeks there and then goes to St. Andrews to study British Literature. Her college's study abroad program is interesting. They have hieroglyphics classes in Egypt and a class over the history of the mafia in Sicily featuring live mafia members and family heads (Sicily doesn't have a hush-hush system; everyone knows who the mafia are).
    Can't wait for Season 3. Everypony else can't, either.
    I got NCAA Football 13 a few days after it came out, and it's really great. Some new features added in (at least from the last one I've played, NCAA Football 10) include the Heisman Challenge (pick a past Heisman winner, pick the school he plays for and win the Heisman) and Reaction Time (slow down the game for a little bit to react to the opponent. Get a pass off, juke an oncoming defender, slip a defensive lineman to crush the incoming running back, etc.) and, for Road to Glory mode, your created player plays out their entire senior season to earn scholarship points. Pick 3 schools you are interested in signing on for, then play one offensive and one defensive position and rack up scholarship points for each position separately. The higher a school's prestige as a football program, the more points you need to get in. Other colleges will take interest depending on your performance and offer you scholarships. At the end of your high school career, pick a school, pick the position you want to play (lemme guess...quarterback?) and go win yourself a couple of Heismans and four Bull Championship Series national titles (if you're an SEC school. If not, good luck.)
    Lots of thoughts in this blog. To round off today's entry, here are three (probably) useless facts of trivia.
    1) If you lay flat on your back with your legs above you, you cannot sink in quicksand. Bring a pole with you and put it on your back before you enter quicksand territory so you can easily get out.
    2) Alligators and crocodiles are deceivingly fast on land. However, they are not very agile. If you have to flee from one of these beasts, run in a zigzag pattern to get away without them taking a bite out of you since they will just directly follow you.
    3) The electric chair was invented by a dentist.
