[/colour]The young mare listened carefully as Abbot explained what exactly he was hoping to find with the experiment. Licorice could feel his embarrassment when he admitted that there had once been a side effect. [colour=#008080]"It's okay, when I was first learning I accidentally made a friend pass out after drinking mine. I felt sooooo bad!! I've come a long way since though, thank goodness!!"[/colour] She wanted to reassure him that it's all part of the learning process. After all, if you never make mistakes, how can you get any better?

[colour=#008080]"That's really a cool idea, modifying food and drink like that."[/colour] Licorice accepted the pastry and the soda sample. She first sampled the first bottle hoofed to her. [colour=#008080]"That tastes like AWESOME!!"[/colour] She giggled. [colour=#008080]"..and by awesome, I mean black cherry. The enhanced carbonation really does make a difference. It's a very full, fizzy black cherry flavour. Write that down Razor"[/colour] She bit into the warm pastry, pure genius warming her taste buds. [colour=#008080]"I'm impressed, Abbot! If you don't mind my asking, what was it that happened that one time?"[/colour] Licorice wasn't worried, just curious, and always down for a good story.

Shade knew that she had to do it. Pocket and Gear in view, now seemed as good of a time as any.. But what to say? Breaking off a romance is no simple task!! Her feelings had always been real, but keeping it real, she knew that she had to be real with Pocket. [colour=#800080]First thing's first, I guess.. "Hey guys!" [/colour]She greeted her friends with a small smile before looking out over the ocean. The sun was going down, casting it's pretty, sinking reflection over the water. The stars were coming out, each pretty little light in the sky giving the small filly a bit of encouragement.[colour=#800080] "I'm sorry that I left you in the water back there, Gear. You were doing so great!! After Puzzle and I spoke I saw a bunch of ponies huddled up and when I went over to see what was happening, Knight had almost drown! Slick was able to get him breathing again, and I helped carry him carry Knight back to the cabin. He slept for awhile, but he was okay in the end."[/colour] A small light trickled across the sky, quickly fading into nothingness. [colour=#800080]"Did you guys see that? A shooting star!!" [/colour]The event brought some joy to the young girl's face, but her expression was soon to turn sour. [colour=#800080]"I wish.... That there was an easier way to say this.." [/colour]Her gaze drifted earthward, towards the soft, red sand just under her hoof.[colour=#800080] "Hey Pocket..? Do you remember when I asked you if it was normal to have crushes on two ponies..? Face quickly reddening, Shade was simply at a loss for words. Did that just happen? It seemed so unreal! Her raised heartbeat and the faint chill of saliva left on her cheek both reminded her that the event had been true. It was only before he had nearly left that she found the ability to speak return to her. [colour=#800080]"See you!!" [/colour]She watched his tail make it's way out of the door, and turned to Violet not a second later. [colour=#800080]"VIOLET DID YOU SEE THAT OH MY GOSH!!!!! He likes me!!! I mean, he REALLY likes me!!!!" [/colour]For how nervous she was moments ago, she was sure smiling wide now! [colour=#800080]"Cmere!!"[/colour] She gave Violet a big old hug. She had too much excitement for one pony to keep all to herself.[colour=#800080] "I'm gonna go try and find Pocket!! This HAS to happen we got so close!!" [/colour]She made her way out onto the beach once again, prancing a bit higher than usual, smile still in tact.

Slick thought she was really pretty, AND he really liked her!! But why did she feel so bad about it? Why did those long hoped for words now seem so sour? [/colour]She shook her head gently, letting her cool, wet mane fall over her face.[colour=#800080] "..I feel like you're the kind of pony who I could see every single day and never grow tired of. Ah!!!! Flash? Knight? Somepony needed help!! By the time Shade saw, it was Knight who was passed out. Puzzlebeat and Slick were quick to help out, however!! Shade watched with worry as Slick gave his friend mouth to mouth and another pony checked his pulse. [colour=#800080]Please be okay.. Please be okay..[/colour] The filly bit her lip and looked over at Violet. Her poor friend looked so scared!! She really liked Knight, and Shade knew she would be devastated if the worst were to happen. Slick looked like a professional bringing up the saltwater, giving Shade confidence that Knight will be okay. Sure enough, he was breathing again!! But would need to take it easy for a bit back in the cabin. [colour=#800080]"I'll you help carry him. Great job with the cpr!! I was really worried back there!!"[/colour] Shade helped Slick lift their more or less conscious friend before starting to move in the direction of the cabins. The colt's cabin was unfortunately farther than fillies.. Was he stable enough to make it all the way?

[/colour]Using her front two hooves, she repeated the simple outward arm movement that one uses to stay afloat. "But yeah, thank you Pocket! I started to feel kind of funny because I really think that I'm starting to like Slick!" She turned to Pocket for a moment. [colour=#800080]"Then with your back legs, you just kick one backwards and one forwards, then keep switching.. Like.." [/colour]She showed the motion with two floppy front hooves.

If you trust me enough to go a little deeper with me now that you're standing upright, we can go just where you can stand but still can try moving like that in the water. When you start to get it, you'll even float above the ground a little. Also kind of weird, but like it helped my friend Wishbone and it helps as a buoyancy aid to hold somepony's hoof at first."[/colour] (That's true in real life, too!) Fresco listened to Fleet with interest. Woah, a mini griffon.. I didn't know they made those!! I wonder if there are like, REALLY GIANORMOUSLY big, BIG ones, too! Although Canterlot was a gorgeous place to have settled down, sometimes Licorice missed being out and about, seeing all of the different sights and taking in the glory of all of the new, exciting places.

[/colour]The ocean looked so big to the small filly.. Endless even!! The water looked so clear, and everypony just looked so happy.. Flash and Blizzy were on the beach trying to open a clam, Slick was on his surfboard, wading out in the water alongside Knight, Bluemoon and Violet and Shadow just about to get in the water, and Gear chilling under a coconut tree. It looked pretty comfy, but he was all by his lonesome! [colour=#800080]"Hey Gearlock!" [/colour]Shade made her way to him. [colour=#800080]"Pocket and I were about to go swimming! I guess it kinda looks like the thing to do right now considering so many ponies are in the water. Wanna come with us?"[/colour] She gave him a warm little grin. [colour=#800080]"It's really pretty out there.."[/colour] She gave the water another looksie, just in time to see Slick riding a wave!! [colour=#800080]"Look at him go!! Dang!!" [/colour]As the wave got closer and closer to shore, Shade's eyes got wider and wider. [colour=#800080]OH... My....[/colour] [colour=#800080]"He's okay, r-right..?"[/colour] Shade watched for a minute. He didn't get right up, but Knight headed his way quickly. Would you like some help up?!"[/colour] Shade's voice carried genuine concern. She extended a hoof.

[colour=#008080]"Woah, woah, Broken!! One more time, a little slower please.."[/colour] As Broken repeated himself at a slower rate, his words started to make since in Miss Licorice's mind. [colour=#008080]"Oh no!! Show me where she's at!!" [/colour]Following Broken down the beach, she was quick to locate her injured student. [colour=#008080]"Hey, Broken told me that you hurt yourself. We have a medical kit back in the bus, but if it's really bad we could find a hospital. If it IS broken it would probably be best for us to take you in and get a cast. Petals and I can carry you in a stretcher if it's hard to move."[/colour]

[colour=#800080]IhatemylifeIhatemylifeIhatemylife[/colour] Shade used both her magic and her physical strength to try and drag her suitcase through the red sand, leaving it lying outside of her assigned cabin before returning to it shortly after Miss Licorice's little tour. Red Rock was a gorgeous place, complete with coloured sand, a cute, fitting little beachy town and the friendly locals. Shade thought back to the scruffy looking pony who had waved at her in the bus when they entered. Tugging her inside the cabin, she layed it on the floor gently and took a seat on the bottom bunk of one of the beds. She saw the plushie that Violet had set on the bed. [colour=#800080]"Who's bed am I stealing?"[/colour] She joked.

She giggled and zipped open the suitcase, freeing the stowaway at last (if SilverWisp still would still like to play, anyways) [colour=#800080]"Could you breath okay in there Dawn?! Would you like some food or something?" [/colour]Shade had left her friend plenty of room, only having packed her swimsuit, but it still couldn't have been a comfortable ride.

[colour=#800080]"Hey Pocket!! Are you going swimming?"[/colour] Shade knew the answer, but asked anyways. [colour=#800080]"Mind if I tag along?"[/colour] She thought that Pocket looked awful cute in that bikini!![colour=#800080] It's okay to have two crushes.. Right?[/colour] The purple pony gave Pocket Watch a warm grin.

[colour=#800080]"..Oh!! That explains a lot I guess!!" [/colour]She wasn't surprised at all that Knight's trying to hit on her and her filly friends had been a dare all along. She didn't have much time to dwell on it though, because the candy had been placed, and Violet was moving in!! Knight had his eyes closed tight in preparation. He didn't freak out as bad as Shade had expected, which was a huge step!! He did get rather embarrassed afterwards, however, but Slick was quick to help him make an exit. [colour=#800080]"Violet, that was GREAT!! He didn't even flinch or ANYTHING!! I think he's really starting to be okay with us or whatever." [/colour]Shade gave her two friends a gentle grin. I only have two left because the boys are wearing my other ones," [/colour]she paused and giggled. [colour=#800080]"but you can wear one of them at least!! We can wash yours later tonight so that they won't be all sticky." [/colour]Shade realized that she'd forgotten her suitcase under her old seat and wheeled it out with only a LOT of difficulty. [colour=#800080]"Sorry, this things WAY heavy.. You guys go ahead without me!! I'll catch up!!"[/colour] Shade did her best not to tilt her bag too much as she pulled it along. Even with the wheels on the end, it seemed increasingly difficult to make it to the end of the bus with it.[colour=#800080] "Stairs, get ready.."[/colour] She hopped down one step, then pulled the luggage down one. THUD! Then twice more. Thud! Thud! Shade layed her luggage down in the dirt, waiting by everypony else.[colour=#800080] The air feels kinda like when you're in a hot tub here.. but moist instead of dry.[/colour] She smacked her tongue against the roof of her mouth once, get a taste of the new air.

Miss Licorice's students were so well behaved, all waiting around for instruction just outside of the bus.[colour=#008080] "What're you guys doing?! Play on the beach, check out your cabins, go have fun!! Red Rock!! We made it!!"[/colour] [colour=#800080]"But, Miss Licorice? Weren't you going to assign us cabins?"[/colour][colour=#008080] "Oh yeah!! Follow me, everypony!!"[/colour] Licorice and Petals led the way down the small, dirt path down to the beautimous, red sand. The sand was a deep red-black, which contrasts with the blue water, the black sea wall, and the greens of the coconut trees perfectly. [colour=#008080]"Red rock is notorious for it's coloured sand. It's one of the only places in Equestria with sand of such colour. While nopony is really certain what the cause of it is, there are plenty of theories. Some scientists believe that it was once the same desert colour as any other beach, but was stained red later by the oxidizing iron minerals in the land. Other theories suggest that the sand itself has magical qualities to it, some locals even go as far as to say that it boosts their magical abilities. No scientific evidence supports this, but sometimes, magic is just science that we can't yet understand. So, who's to say?" [/colour]She stopped for a moment, having passed one cabin and now in front of another. [colour=#008080]"In cabin number 2, we'll have (all of the girls that aren't npc's)"[/colour] Not far down, Licorice assigned all of the boys who aren't npc's cabin 4. After assigning everypony's cabins, Licorice turned all of her students loose for the night, the promise of 5 bits each for those who's tape was still on the door by morning, (which again, she'll do room checks and put it on at midnight) and a reminder that tonight's number one priority was to relax and enjoy themselves!!
