Dr. Spin Tale was glad that his meeting with Princess Mi Amore Cadenza was going smoothly so far. As the princess talked about the outcome of the CRPR Open House, the curator gave another quick look at the slender blue gentlecolt he still didn't recognize. Of course, there was always a good chance that the unknown unicorn would be receptive to Dr. Tale's pitch to visit his museum (and leave behind a generous donation)... at least more so than the infamous Prince Blueblood, at any rate. Maybe Princess Cadenza could introduce the doctor to the unicorn noble?

It didn't take long for Cadenza to rummage through her saddlebag and produce a CRPR pamphlet, which Spin Tale took in his hoof. The princess then spoke again; "Here you go! Did you have any particular questions for the CRPR? We're always open to feedback, and I'd love to know what you think or what we could do better."

Dr. Tale reasoned that now was as good a time as ever to ask about the noble. "Actually Princess Cadenza," the earth pony began, twisting his head towards the regal blue-coated unicorn; "I was wondering who the gentlecolt over..."

Apparently, something else caught Cadenza's attention as she suddenly smiled and inquired; "Is that your friend back there?" Confused, Spin Tale turned behind him to gaze upon a bronze earth pony filly, who by the look of things, seemed rather intimidated seeing all the commotion in the fudge shop. Judging by the goggles she wore, she must have had a physically-demanding occupation too.

Trying to contain his bemusement for the sake of maintaining politeness, Spin Tale replied to the princess's question; "I've never seen her before, to be honest. Canterlot is such a large place as it is". However, Dr. Tale now started to feel some pity for the apparently shy filly; socializing had always come relatively easy for the doctor, being a natural storyteller and all. It was always a shame then to Dr. Tale when a pony chose to distance themselves from others (never mind how he'd been recently distancing himself from many of his own friends, but that was a completely different issue). Unsure of what to do next, Dr. Tale asked the princess; "Well ma'am, I suppose it wouldn't hurt for us to greet her... right?" At the very least, this filly could be a potential visitor to the museum too.....

  2. I don't really know if I could identify a moment that I would consider great. I suppose getting my history degree would come the closest, but even then, I was mostly glad that all that 4-year junk was over with rather than proud. I also highly value the times I've been able to take school trips to Washington D.C., France, Italy, and the UK.

If Spin Tale's mind wasn't rushing a thousand miles per hour before, it sure was now as Nurse Redheart softly lifted his hoof with her own. Keeping his gaze mostly fixed on the nurse's inquiring eyes, Dr. Tale wondered just what exactly the mare could do about his bruise. The stallion understood that Redheart only wanted to help, but the remaining logic in Spin Tale's brain reminded him that there really was nothing the nurse could possibly do without access to a medical clinic or a first-aid.....

That was when it happened; Redheart pecked Spin Tale's bruise with her delicate lips (at least they felt delicate to the stallion) and sent a jolt throughout his entire body. For a few brief seconds, the doctor froze in place with his eyes widened in shock and his mouth wide open. Dr. Tale head drew a complete blank in that timespan, save for the fact that a lovely mare he didn't even know just kissed his hoof!

All too soon though, reality came crashing back and the stallion noticed that a now awkward-looking Redheart had backed away from him. "I...I...I'm so sorry," she stammered; "I didn't mean to do that...it sort of just happened....does your hoof at least feel better?" Not wishing to leave the mare distressed, Spin Tale mustered a stoic look as he pranced on the sidewalk to test his right forehoof. However, the doctor's look quickly reverted back to one of amazement as he sensed... absolutely no pain at all! Dr. Tale couldn't believe it! How the heck could a mere kiss have the ability to get rid of pain? Was it a special kind of earth pony magic, perhaps? Or maybe it was a trick caused by a quirk of pony biology?

No matter; now was not the time to ponder such questions! Smiling in merriment, Spin Tale knew he had to thank Nurse Redheart right there and then; "My hoof... it feels... IT FEELS GREAT! No need to apologize to me at all!" Dr. Tale pranced for a couple more moments, not caring if anypony stared at his antics or not. Once he settled down, the stallion walked his way close to Redheart again, glad he no longer had to limp around Canterlot, and looked right into the nurse's eyes. "That kiss did wonders, Miss Redheart," Dr. Tale uttered before sighing in contentment; "I'm... I'm not sure how to repay you". The doctor had always believed that if anypony did a good deed for him, it was his duty to repay him or her in full... and Spin Tale was sure as Tartarus that he'd repay the lovely Nurse Redheart somehow.

"Excuse me, excuse me." Spin Tale (pardon the pun) spun his head around to see a white-coated mare trot from the middle of the street in his direction. Wondering why the earth pony mare wanted his attention, the stallion turned around completely so that his head wouldn't be twisted trying to look at the pony coming his way. "Your leg, I'm sorry....Where are my manners?" The mare now stood close enough that Dr. Tale noticed her blue eyes, which he deemed further revealed her concern over his right forehoof. The doctor gave the mare a friendly chuckle; it looked like the jig was finally up after trying to disguise his limp all day. After giving an apologetic bow, the white-coated mare stared back into his eyes and continued speaking; "My name is Redheart and I am a nurse with the Ponyvile hospital...... but I noticed that you seem to be favoring this hoof a bit, may I take a look at it?"

"Uhh, sure..." replied a slightly bewildered but grateful Spin Tale. He mentally commented that it was obviously in a nurse's nature like Redheart to spot scrapes and to make them feel better for ponies. However, the fact that Redheart was taking the effort to help out an injured pony even when off-duty and out-of-town led Dr. Tale to suspect that the mare had a more caring heart than your run-of-the-mill caretaker. The doctor couldn't help but give a warm smile as he lifted his bruised hoof so Redheart could have a clearer look at it. Noticing her eyes looking back and forth between his hoof and his face, Dr. Tale started to think that the nurse's eyes actually looked quite lovely. As the wind came and briefly tossed Redheart's mane in the air, Spin Tale decided that yes, the nurse from Ponyville was especially pretty.

His thoughts now almost entirely dwelling on the nurse in front of him, Spin Tale felt the need to properly introduce himself to Redheart. "Oh by the way, my name's Spindoctor... err... Dr. Spin Tale." The stallion formed an abashed smile after his silly slipup; hopefully, the "Spindoctor" gaffe would not haunt him forever. Not one to let potential embarrassments bring him down though, Dr. Tale pressed onwards; "I'm a historical museum curator". Spin Tale paused for a moment, figuring that just this once, he wouldn't bother elaborating further on the Canterlot Army Historical Society... at least not until the snow white mare was finished with his bruised forehoof. "So Miss Redheart, what can you do for my hoof?"

  5. When that airship plummeted on them... Oh the Humanity... Who promoted Derpy as the Captain?

That was the only thing I didn't like; Derpy should never have been connected with the death of AJ's parents. Now, this will cast a dark shadow on all the innocent accidents caused by Derpy throughout the entire series. How can I look foward to seeing her cameos now when I know her actions can result in somepony's death? :(

"Ow........... ow........... ow..........." Dr. Spin Tale winced every time he stepped on his right forehoof. The curator of the Canterlot Army Historical Society had been a bit too careless this morning, accidently smashing his hoof against the desk in his office while attempting to pick up a dropped pencil. Fortunately, the injury was not serious enough to warrant emergency attention, and so Dr. Tale carried on and enthusiastically attended to those ponies that visited the small museum that day. Spin hoped they didn't concentrate on his limp too much (or his mane for that matter, but the curator was usually pointlessly oversensitive about his mane); judging by the donations that all the visitors left behind, they probably did not even notice. Heck, one pony even subscribed to the Society's biannual historical journal!

Mostly satisfied with how the day turned out, Spin Tale closed up the museum for the rest of the afternoon and decided to trot down to his favorite juice bar in the center of Canterlot, sluggish limp or not. There was no minor pain that couldn't be dulled by a glass of grape juice... right? As the doctor's thoughts turned towards the sweet taste of grape juice, his trance prevented him from noticing certain details out of the ordinary around him. Like that couple sitting on an outdoor cafe table bickering about something silly, or that confused-looking earth pony mare blocking pedestrian traffic.....

  7. I still can't believe the writers had the guts to introduce Applejack's parents, only to kill them off right in front of AJ's and AB's eyes. I'd never expect a children's show to pull off such a serious storyline; just imagine all the nightmares the target audience will have for the enxt month. At least the animators had the decency to only show the looks of horror on the two Apple sisters. The horror, the horror........... :scream:

  8. Well I'll be darned! I used to post on the Black Mesa Source forums ALOT when it first started up back in late 2004. I had a...... fiery personality when I was there (and I've got G-Mod comics to prove it). Staying on one forum after a while gets a bit boring however, so I moved on from that community after a few years or so.

  9. Since this is the insect thread, I was wondering if anyone has idea on what insect I encountered a few minutes ago. It could jump really high, but its jumps did not cover much horizontal distance. It was a tad smaller than a cricket, and apparently it has a very tough exoskeleton (yeah, I'm another one of those guys :wail: ). Any info on these thingies will be appreciated.

  10. As a Twilight Sparkle fan, I'd like to see how she would react if after some sort of big magic-related accident, she no longer felt worthy of studying magic. As magic is more or less Twilight's raison d'être, such an identity crisis would really hit her hard I deem. I would really like to see how her friends and Princess Celestia1 attempt to convince Twilight otherwise.

1Celestia could always use more screentime, hehe.

Spin Tale grunted as he slowly trotted into the Mending Hearts Clinic. The red-coated earth pony had not been in the best of moods throughout the last few months; not since he graduated from Canterlot Univeristy with a Ph.D in history and a load of student loan debt to show for his efforts. While Dr. Tale's new position as curator for the Canterlot Army Historical Society did its part to help pay his loans off, he had not been certain that his meager salary would be enough in case of a financial emergency. Combined with lingering frustration over his failure to land an associate professorship with a history department among one of Equestria's universities, the young doctor had fallen into a sort of depression. It did not help that Spin was no longer in contact with most of his university friends.

Many of Spin Tale's friends no longer lived in Canterlot, but Dr. Tale felt no need to needlessly burden his remaining friends in the city with his personal issues. Thus, he increasingly avoided maintaining contact with nearly all of his old associates, as the doctor assumed that they wouldn't involve themselves in Spin Tale's affairs if was out of sight and out of mind. Eventually, Dr. Tale was left with only his miniature wargaming buddies to serve his social needs. The doctor did his best to hide his worries, but even his miniature wargaming pals started to sense something was wrong when Spin no longer cared to throw hissy fits after losing matches; something he was quite infamous for.

And so upon their recommendation, Spin Tale closed his small museum for the day to come to the Mending Hearts Clinic. The stallion was unsure if its owner, Heart Healer, could help resolve his issues, but he figured he owed it to his pals to at least try something to make himself feel happier. With that thought in mind, the doctor signed himself in at the reception desk and moved over to the waiting area. Noting that one unicorn stallion was waiting for his appointment, Spin Tale proceeded to gaze down on his blue tie and use his hoof to fix his brown mane, which he thought he didn't quite brush good enough this morning.

It would not be the last time that Spin Tale overworried about his mane...

  12. I'm all but certain that my headphone issue is due to damage sustained to the actual wire; it's all torn up and junk. I used to be able to restore sound to the faulty channel by twisting the jack in a certain way, but even that will not work now. I'll try to be more careful with my headphones in the future, as I may have been....... a little rough with my last pair.

PS: my dad has the same headphones and has also suffered a loss of sound in one channel, but I'm sure he doesn't abuse his headphones in the way I would.
