    People may draw Spitfire with her hair wild and crazy, but I honestly think it's gelled back for looks. You know, to make her appear fast all the time, even when standing. Or just wind-blown. Take your pic xD Here's a picture of her with her hair down. Oh and her cutie mark is a flaming lightning bolt.

    An adorable picture I concocted after watching Best Night Ever xD I totally pictured Fluttershy licking some frosting off Rarity's cheek. Okay, so maybe it's something Pinkie Pie would do, but it's cuter coming from Fluttershy since it's the only saliva Rarity probably doesn't mind.

    Squee Pointers! :P Thanks for that, cat! We are doing more life drawing at collage atm so it's nice to know I'm on the right path. Given summer is coming soon I wonder if I should find a night class somewhere to keep up. Oh and out of curiosity, (sorry for all these questions but oh-my-gosh) how long have you been doodling for?

    My whole life. xD It doesn't show through my doodles tho.

    Young Rarity and Fluttershy are pretty awesome. I can just imagine Rarity trying to show Fluttershy the ropes, since she'd never been down to Earth before. "This is called a 'pond,' water collects here when it rains."

    THAT'S ADORABLE! I think I want to draw that, you're very inspiring! Hehe

    You know what, I give up. I've tried and tried to encapsulate everything I feel about this amazing work, but nothing I write down even comes close. Cat, as an artist you are everything I aspire to become. Everything from the way you capture the character's individuality though posture and form, to your portrayal of emotion and cartoony stylisation. Everything about your work feels loose, free, natural and above all entertaining ;)

    The one thing I would ask is; if you were to give advice to a beginner looking to emulate a similar style, what would it be? Especially if they were struggling with expressive characters and can't get their head around morphing a face around an emotion >.>

    Thank you so much! I'm glad you like my doodles so much xD I try to make them fun to look at, but I suppose my style could afford to be a little more unique.

    But as for advice! Ummm... Well people who want to draw in a cartoony style should have a firm grasp of realism. That makes things easier to exaggerate (like how our ponies have big heads and stuff xD) So as you're getting comfortable drawing realistic things (real life references tend to be better than photos or pictures, but those can be very helpful too) referencing off different artists helps as well. Provided you aren't full out copying them or anything xD And of course practicing. Drawing as often as you can, even keeping a little doodle book onhand. I know alot of people are reluctant to practice, but it's the best thing to do haha. Hope that helps xD

    Gender: Male

    Age: Stallion

    Species: Hippocampus

    Pelt Color: Light sea green

    Mane/Tail Color & Style: Curly and chunky aquamarine

    Eye Color: Greyed pink

    Cutie Mark: A happy blue fish swimming with a happy green fish, with four blue hearts

    Physique: His face, tho holds the square-ish shape males usually have, is displayed very femininely. His body is muscular since he swims his entire life.

    Residence: Hippocamp Reef

    Occupation: None

    Motivation: Land candies, he'll do almost anything for them

    Likes: Riding high surf waves, relaxing on the beach with pony tourists particularly with a bonfire at night, since the sun isn't scorching, land candies, basically any pony food from the land, tho he enjoys kelp too, he enjoys it better with spices from the land.

    Dislikes: Sharkoniks (a made up breed of sea ponies with more sharklike traits) being treated like royalty.

    Character Summary: I adopted him from Mudbug 8DDD. Unlike the land ponies, the hippocamp were more active at night. They worshiped Princess Luna, for her moon powers were the ones who controlled the tide. It was his knowledge of the land ponies that brought them to this newfound religion, as it were. Being the beloved son of a lord, Sugar Kelp's knowledge was welcomed among his people. Once a month, their whole herd goes up to the surface to sing to the moon. He hopes that one day she'll thank him personally. Despite his passion for Luna, he's a colt-cuddler. He has an eye for male ponies and tries to make it obvious, but his personality is so relaxed, one can rarely tell his true feelings for anything. He speaks with a thick Irish accent.

    A made up lovechild for Apple Napoleon for Honey Oats xD They don't have children, but I made Honeycrisp for them for kicks. Honeycrisp works both ways. Honeycrisp is an apple and the name also sides with the Honey family! Honeycrisp can be a boy or a girl. Honeycrisp is also bisexual! Naw, I kid xD But here's a lovechild anyway.

    I'm for the idea that the train was only horse-drawn once it was get up to speed by the engine itself.

    My roommate skratch234 on a different forum suggested that maybe humans lived in Equestria before (but later on probably moved and deemed the place as uninhabitable etc etc) and the earth ponies of the countryside just didn't know quite how to use that technology.

    Makes you wonder though, why do ponies need a pig farm??

    Okay, well, at least its not as bad as the Cowboys of Moo Mesa, where they rode horses. Once the ponies start riding horses (as in "giddy-up let's go," not Rule 34), it's time to stop hahaha

    Thanks, I hope so xD I mean I pretty much brought her back to life from when I made her when I was like 12, so it'd be nice to actually develop her character into something MORE interesting.
