  1. Well, I can't think of anything else to add to her, so I removed the Work In Progress tag and have now added a final tag. She's pretty much done unless there's something someone says I'm missing. Please tell me if that's the case.

  2. It always urks me when people complain how Strawberry Panic is boring because its not like other yuri titles where its just fanservice and heavy makeout sessions. I don't mind yuri like that, but once in awhile I'd like to see some good yuri anime where they portray lesbian relationships more realistically.

I actually think Strawberry Panic offers more than abundant fanservice and makeout sessions...

You ever see Aoi Hana? It's probably the most realistic yuri anime I've seen.

  3. It's cool. I only did just post her today, so I'm not surprised.

It does sound like there are some similarities to the characters, but there are also some fundamental differences. My Radiant's cutie mark moment was about her enduring in a fight rather than beating someone, and her cutie mark is a shield rather than a sword, so that probably speaks to a fundamental difference in approach.

Given their similar ages and backgrounds, I imagine the two of them might probably be familiar with each other should they both be approved.

  4. Well, alright then.

Well, your avatar does certainly look enticing. I can believe there are better visual novels than Fate/Stay Night. 1 Even if there are it wouldn't diminish my love of F/SN. I have like action figures and stuff...

But cool. I'll keep it in mind. 2 I honestly doubt something called "Muv Luv" would have ever caught my eye.

    1) Thats the exact same thing that i thought before i dived into that universe, now here i am  and i do have 2 Sabers and 2 Rins on my desk right now, they so pretty :kissy:

    2) well... the way the game saw the light is heavily suspected to have been some sort of enormous troll by Age (the makers) im pretty certain the name was a way to try to put the buzz off a bit. but dunno

2 Sabers and 2 Rins? I'm jealous. I only have one Saber and one Rider.

And I see. That's kind of cool.

And I used to read a lot of manga. I don't as much these days. Tenjho Tenge was actually one of the first manga I read (because the anime, which I enjoyed, just cuts off suddenly). But yeah... the manga got pretty confusing and I kind of stopped following it...

    On Gurren Lagann:

Well, you have to consider that the bane of all that is good story writing and pacing (gainax) worked on it and it was still decent.

That, sir, is called an accomplishment of the utmost degree.

The first season was over the top and ridiculous, but it managed to keep you immersed just enough to overlook all the weirdness going on. The second season felt completely out of place with the setting and was simply terrible, nothing but a low quality Gundam clone in my opinion.

Let me put it simply: This anime almost redeemed Gainax in my eyes. And if the second season had been any good, i would have forgiven them for taking a dump in my brain with Evangelion.

Keep in mind, this is all my opnion and in no way am i claiming it as fact.

You seem to like Gurren Lagann, FLCL and Panty and Stocking. I'm kind of curious what other than Evangelion has Gainax done to so sour your opinion of them when it seems you like most of the biggest titles that come to my mind when it comes to that studio?

  6. I see. And yeah. Apparently it is quite different.

I personally don't think something has to be happening for me to be having a good time. If I'm amused just watching the characters interact, any plot is secondary to me. That's why I like a lot of slice of life/comedy anime like that. And yeah, Lucky Channel is arguably the best part of any given Lucky Star episode.

Azumanga Daioh is also brilliant. I actually prefer Lucky Star by a hair though.

Gurren Lagann was pretty good. I sometimes feel I wasn't impressed with it as some people are. Still, it's fun.

  7. I don't watch a lot of shoujo/josei anime but I like Kuragehime/Princess jellyfish. That was a cute show.

    Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Stopped watching at first episode during the 8 minutes and 28 second mark.

Please, make it stop! It's. SO. DUUUUUUUUUUUULL!

It's like Lucky Star, but with even less believable characters and even more dull. How can you make something duller than lucky star? HOW?

Can you point me to an episode where it already has picked up? please? I refuse to eat my vegetables to get to my dessert.

I loved Madoka Magica from the onset. That said, it doesn't become brilliant until after the third episode. And yeah, after that point you can't possibly call it dull.

You might not like it. In fact I'm pretty sure you won't. It's often compared to Evangelion which most anime fans think is brilliant but you obviously don't. And if you can't even sit through a single episode... yeah... it's probably just not going to work for you...

Also, Lucky Star is one of my all time favorite anime series. I think that is hilarious and pure fun. Nothing in it is dull to me and the characters are lovable.

Oh, and about Fate/Stay Night, masterpiece may be just a little strong for the anime. The VN certainly is. I still wouldn't call the anime bad by any means and actually consider it to be very nicely done.

  8. My first crack at a FiM RP character... I hope nothing too similar to this has been done before. I'm willing to change just about anything if necessary, as well as add anything that might be missing.

Name: Radiant Steel (shortens to Radiant. Steel is treated like a surname).

    Post colour: FF0000

    Sex: female

Age: Young Mare (early twenties equivalent)

    Species: Pegasus

    Pelt colour: Dull white

Mane/Tail/Markings colour & Style: Deep red in colour. Mane is worn long and very straight in the back, and moderately long and swept to the side in the front. Tail is kept quite short.

    Eye colour: Bright Green

Cutie Mark: A silver shield with a gold and black stripe going across it horizontally (usually obscured by the armor she wears).

Physique: Strong and athletic in build but average in size. She typically wears the ceremonial golden armor of the Garrison Forces, including the hoof armor but excluding the helmet.

    Origin: Canterlot

    Roleplay Type: Mane RP

Occupation: Member of the Royal Equestrian Army Garrison Forces working as a guard out of Canterlot Castle

Motivation: She feels an upmost duty to serve Equestria faithfully and stop those who wish it harm

Likes: sweet foods, cute things, the Equestrian Royalty, unicorn magic

    Dislikes: bitter foods, disrespectfulness, cruelty

Character Summary: Radiant is a very direct young mare. She tries her best to make due with as few words spoken as possible. Despite this, sometimes she is prone to over analyzing things in her head, which can trip her up. True to her profession, she does her best to remain ever firm and stern. She is weak to tasty sweets and things she thinks are cute (particularly small animals), both of which are capable of tearing through her tough persona. She has a very strong sense of honor, and is very proud of her job. She adores the princesses she has sworn to protect above all else, even if she has never talked to them on a personal level. She has a low tolerance for those who disrespect her, the princesses or just generally break Equestrian law. She is quick to use force when necessary to stop troublemakers and criminals.

Radiant was born a daughter of the Steel family which had served the Castle Canterlot for generations as soldiers of the REA. Her father, a Major in the Garrison Forces by the name of Rufous Steeledge pushed her and her two brothers to follow in his footsteps from early on. However, as a filly, Radiant was not very interested in taking up the family profession. It just didn't seem cute or feminine enough to her. Her mother, a unicorn named Lucid Glow, pushed her to try following her own childhood dreams of baking sweets or tending to adorable animals. Despite her best efforts, she was chagrinned to learn that she had no talent whatsoever for baking and animals seemed to instinctively hate and attack her.

Distraught and feeling lost at her continual failures, Radiant one day came across a scene that greatly altered her perspective. Some colts and fillies from her school were defacing a section of the back wall of the very castle her family worked so hard to keep safe, all for a laugh. It was only then that Radiant realized the depth of her pride for what her family did. Infuriated, the young filly recklessly charged in to stop the vandals. Outnumbered, she was clearly bound to lose the fight, but even knowing this she stood strong and allowed not one of them to escape before guards from the castle noticed the commotion and flew in to apprehend the disrespectful youth.

Though beaten up badly, in the aftermath of that incident Radiant never felt more satisfied with herself. Her cutie mark, a sturdy shield appeared on her flank that day and with it her attitude changed. She had a new found respect for her father and what he did and decided she wanted to follow in his footsteps. She began training to become accepted into the Royal Equestria Army, knowing that as a mare she was going to have to work extra hard to be accepted in a profession so dependent on strength and so dominated by stallions. Through shear determination and her father's recommendation she eventually made the cut.

She is still fairly new at the job and perhaps not yet as disciplined as some of her fellow soldiers. Her brash, reckless and sometimes too passionate attitude can cause her to butt heads with others, and none more so than her own stern, no-nonsense father. She tends to forego the helmet that goes with the guard 's armor out of personal preferences whenever she can get away with it. Though not nearly as big as the stallions she works with, she is quick on her hooves or her wings and can be quite fierce in a fight. She is committed to using her strength to protect the princesses or anyone else she is assigned to guard.

I tried making a picture of her from a template, but it sucked...

Luckily, ChelseaGold made this absolutely awesome picture for me instead.

And here's a lovely watercolour of her by Rainbolt! :)

  9. Will give mainly my favorite list of anime, but i had watch many.

Fate/Stay Night - Masterpiece for me.

    Full Metal Alchemist

    Code Geass

    Saint Seiya

    Slayer (Old one series)

    Soul Hunter

Fate/Stay Night certainly is a masterpiece. The only time I've ever been compelled to actually download and play through an entire visual novel after watching an anime.

  10. I might someday. Thought I'm not sure even great characters will fix me not really connecting with the humor.

I kind of love Fairy Tail. It's kind of derivative shounen, but the characters are just so much fun.

Code Geass is a favorite too, even with it's overblown silliness. And Evangelion is definitely a classic.

Also, does anyone know what this is from?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvk0flArz3o

That's from a show from last year called Star Driver.

  11. Fanservice can be overdone and end up distracting from the content. In limited quantities I think it can really add a lot to. I personally kind of detest it when fanservice is used as comedy (unless it's balanced out or done with restraint or alternatively just really good fanservice), but I really do gravitate toward shows where I find the characters attractive (and before anyone says anything, no, that is not why I'm into FiM...), so a little fanservice seems natural to me.

I can sometimes see endings before they happen. It doesn't bother me too much if I enjoy watching the characters.

If I was going to suggest something, again I'd bring up Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It's only 12 episodes long, but it's enthralling from start to finish. I can think of no anime I enjoy watching more in the 13 or so years I've been watching the stuff, and this is something that only just came out earlier this year. Currently airing anime Steins;Gate is giving me similar feelings, but I hesitate to suggest something that hasn't concluded yet.

I see. I used to like DBZ but I just know it probably hasn't held up all that well.

I might look at Heroman at some point then. I actually hadn't heard much about it.

Hajime no Ippo just doesn't really look or sound like my sort of thing and it never really has.
