If you watch the original you probably won't enjoy the movie as much.
At the same time, you might not understand the movie as well as you could have. Very important things are noted but are glossed over, leading to a very confusing experience.
The anime and the movie follow a different story with different characters and different portrayals of characters we already know, which feels off. Not necessarily a bad choice, but imagine biting into what appears to be a chocolate cake, but it taste like strawberry. Not bad, but just... weird.
I watched both. Loved the anime. The movie was watchable and fairly enjoyable, but moments of questionable acting and plot reasons ruined a few portions of it. The soundtrack was great and there were excellent camera shots that brought a certain life to the film. But again, certain acting moments and plot reasons take away from the grand experience.In comparison, the anime is great but also falls into it's own little holes. It is relatively short, sitting at 37(?) episodes, but it could've been shorter (imo). Still a good watch though. Worth it.

Wait, I have a WoE character I would like to set for Wizard but would I have to create a new app for him as for use in this RP in CC?
Sorry if my question is Derp-ish, I'm just confused and unsure. I have no problem making a new app.
Oh, and what type of pirates shall these ponies be!? Every time I see pirate themed RP I expect it to be along the lines of pirates that sailed the seas with eyepatches and Captain Jack Sparrow and all that jazz. Not ponies in airships and Treasure Planet stuffs
For Freewing it mentions that the "...group sails and FLIES around Equestria in traditional pirate fashion." So I assume airships?
Derp-ish question is super derp-ish and I apologize for it.

Late evening in lower Manehatten. It was the time of day when shops started closing, street lamps switch on, and the sun begins it's inevitable descent. Some ponies would even consider it to be time to catch some sleep.
And despite this, much activity continued, seeing as how not everything goes down with the sun. Places such as popular vacation spots, tourist attractions, and more specifically, train stations were to be active for few more hours. Maybe even all night!!
Now, not many ponies actually ride trains this late, as they would prefer to travel during daylight hours. But there was this one feminine colt who somehow managed to miss every other train to Manehatten today, and this late night ride was because of him being late to his originally scheduled train.
Upon arrival, the boy ran out into the cool night air. Too long he's been gone, and regardless, he still remembers his way home... Err, for the most part. Unsure of where to turn at a fork in the road, he stops suddenly under a street lamp.
Illuminated by a cone of soft light, Shzaam sighs deeply, turning his head left and right. Green eyes darting around and a matching mane, which was currently held back in a ponytail, complemented by a lavender coat.

He shuffled nervously in place before blinding running down one of the pathways... Only to retrace his steps and correct himself and travel the other way...
So there he stood. In front of the home he left so he could travel abroad, dazzling ponies with magic tricks and skills. He was sure his cousins would be happy to see him. Why wouldn't they!? They all loved each other when they were children, surely not much has changed in the years of his absence. Besides, he only had a week to reconnect with his two best friends. He had to make the most of it, no matter what!
So he raised a hoof to door and struck it. Waiting not so very patiently.
Knock knock knock
He waited for a few seconds.
Knock Knock Knock
A few more seconds pass.
Knock Knock Knock
His patience was wearing thin... He didn't have a key anymore so he couldn't just waltz in. Not to mention the bone chilling night air, fueling his urgency to be indoors.

Let the adventure continue!!))Shzaam sat patiently in his chair for a while, eagerly listening to the others introduce themselves and watching another few stroll in through the door. Quite a diverse group of ponies here, that was for sure.Lieutenant Fire Walker of the REA, the writer Quillhart, Dr. Heart Moniter, martial art expert M. Mastang, Ballad from Hoofenheim, and of course Aureate Compass the mapmaker... And well, yes, Shzaam himself... This making seven ponies to travel Equestria together for some time away from their respective, every day life. Socializing with one another was bound to be an adventure in itself!
He stood out of his chair looked about the room, as it was about time he re-introduced himself.

He takes a moment to glance at everypony before looking the clock mounted to a wall.

He shuffles in places nervously before heading to the door and propping it open.

In terms of character, my favorite pony would have to be Twilight Sparkle. Most developed and stuff. Oh, right. She's also the main character but, like... What ever
I enjoy all of Rainbow Dash except for her ego... It's just very annoying at times. But I guess given that she's the fastest Pegasus in Equestria, the only (known) pony able to perform a sonic Rainboom, an element of harmony,and best friends with a/the princess(es), I guess it makes sense...
Oh, and R-Dash makes a great wallpaper!!
Apple Jack is perhaps my least favorite. Despite how I loved her episodes and her personality. I just... Don't like her
I want a Dianond and Silver episode!! I mean, I don't want them bullying the CMC but I want to see how they are or what they really do as friends. Or, maybe Silver Spoon stops following Diamond's lead and tries to befriend
Scootaloo- er, I mean the CMC. Luna is overrated, nuff said. I think people just prefer Luna's fandom personas. Woona, gamer Luna, etc...
Celestia is portrayed a tyrant by the fandom. But hey, she has too much to do to be taking care of her fully grown prized protege. Twi and her friends are more than capable of solving these issues. The only thing that may hinder them is when they start arguing and don't work together. As seen in The Return of Harmony (that is the first Discord episode, right?)
The worst thing Celestia did was banish her sister for a millennia. And honestly, she had every right to do so.

I want need a new Trixie episode. I'd like to see what's become of her great and apologetic-ness.
Pound and Pumpkin Cake have to have something... A Rugrats-like episode for them and few other foals? That'd be cute or terrible...
Oh. And ScootaSpoon (SilverScoots) is an adorable ship with the worst name...

Without so much as a warning, Dawn was sucked into a hug with some of the other kids and their technical foal-sitter, Razor. Hugs were ok, hugs were nice, hugs were inviting, but coming from some stranger she met not even five minutes ago, it felt... different. It wasn't a major issue though, for it ended as quickly as it started.
And it was time for hide-and-seek!! What child wouldn't want to partake!? There were so many ponies to play with too!! The more the merrier, right? Well, Dawn sure thought so. The game had barely started before she was looking for the optimal hidey-hole.
But somepony, or more precisely, somegriffon, had decided this to be the perfect time to be a little rule breaking child.

Glimmer ran off without looking back, completely ignoring her brother's instructions. Followed by the filly with a large red bow.
So that makes two. Two kids, both in the midst of their sugar rush, disobediently running off into the most potentially dangerous place in Equestria with out so much as a second thought. Dawn was a good filly though, she stayed put whilst searching for a good spot to hide.
But... She couldn't help but wonder what if something bad happened to Glimmer or Apple Bloom!? They're in the Everfree forest!! It's no playground for a child!! What if they get lost!? What if they get separated!? What if they get lost, separated, and injured!? With nopony to assist them!!
She didn't like this at all. Good thing the blue filly said something about it before Dawn ran off after them. She probably would have just gotten lost herself!!
So, with the idea of a search party already out there, Dawn jumped on Razor's back. It was time for heroism!!

With a gleam of adventurous spirit in her eye, the filly pointed a hoof towards the forest expecting for Razor to blaze a trail full speed ahead.
She herself was admittedly hyped up on sugar, but at least she had good intentions with all her energy. Just, the way it was turning out in reality was much more anticlimactic than what she originally envisioned...

Regardless, they seem pretty useless. They're good at aerial stunts and tricks, not fighting dragons, saving mare's falling from the sky, or keeping a hold of Soarin's apple pie...

That comparison scene had me rolling for a solid 3 minutes
That scene is probably the biggest offender of questionable acting and weird choices. There are a few others, but that one takes the cake. However, you do have to remember that anime Light and movie Light are not the same. Anime Light is this super level-headed genius kid and movie Light is, well.. Not.. That... At all.
Also, movie L wasn't bad except for the action scenes and ending.
Ryuk was the best character in the movie, tbh. Though he's different from the anime because he plays an active antagonistic role as opposed to being merely a bystander with bystander effects.
