Shanna went wide-eyed in surprise as the water visibly darkened from the amount of dirt on Dusty.

Hoss smiked and nudged her "Well, well... You did say you may kiss him if he does this.."

She whispered at him in a hiss "shut up...", then put a smile on to enourage Dusty to swim.

The twins dutifully stepped back at the warning, feeling the thump through their hooves as the water struck.

They clopped their forehooves on the ground in applause. "Wow!" 'Impressive!"

Hoss's wngs quiver in excitement as he sees the surfboard, but he pointed his hoof at Dusty "I believe he said he was first, and I really have to see this."

Shanna smiled, playing along with her brother and going that extra mile to annoy her brother. "Yes, I want to see how brave he is. I may even give a gallant hero a kiss.." -Giggling as she sees her brother frown at that.

Hoss was torn for a moment in following Aqua drop even after she locked the place up.

-But then he heard Dusty bridle at his remarks.

Oh good she was locking it all up... nothing he can't get past in a snap. He well just keep back an- "GET MY NERVE!? ah can have you know no one is more brave then a pony raised like ah was." he gulps "Water or not... Ah toke on solders water is nothing... ah just sink... like a stone." He follows her as his snake rattles like mad not liking how jumpy this ride is "Ah well go first think ya... And ah just drooped the goods nothing bad, now if ah lost one? haha my dad well kill me." He tosses a look at Shanna "Ya ah'm big, got it from ma and da. draft mule and draft unicorn! Ah got my da's good looks cutey." he gives her a wink and a snicker.

Shanna flipped a wingtip over her muzzle like a fan as she gave a giggle in reply, then set out with them.

Hanging back a little, she poked her brother in the ribs and rolled her eyes at him, as if to say * I cant believe that silly stunt worked... *

He smirked and winked back at her, enjoying that his words had the desired effect on the huge stallion.

Shanna hung back further as the males followed Aqua to the river, waiting to see what happens next.

Shanna shared a look with her brother, then waved a hoof disarmingly at Dusty, putting on her best "Innocent" smile. "Oh, we dont think you are a spy. Well, you are the biggest stallion I have ever seen, and you are acting in ways that would grab anypony's attention, flashing all those valuables even by accident. Oh, and so brave, fighting' one's fear like that..."

She turned to Aqua Drop as she refused payment for the sapphire. "Oh thank you! We must at least do something for you..."

Hoss neighed happily as he put the extra coinage back in his pouch. "Yes, how about we take you to dinner later? My.. uh, Our treat."

He turned to Dusty "If you are sure... I guess you need some more time to get your nerve. All right, I'm ready Miss Aqua Drop."

He tapped his hoof to make sure Shanna was alert when he got his lesson.

(OOC: Not a problem. I know what a hoofful they can be thanks to the ones on the ranch I'm working on. )

Madam Bistro came over and let Granny Smith know her room was on the first floor, pointing to the short hallway in the back and handing over a key.

She then watched pleasently as Hoity-Toity actually seemed to be enjoying himself now, the crowd noise growing all the more as she waited with the register book and a key for him. This was becoming quite a day. perhaps she should have her "Grand Opening" sooner than later...

Shanna groaned upstairs and rolled out of her bed, making her way out on the balcony for some fresh air, her black mane waving in the breeze as she looked out over the town. "At least Hoss left me the cloud for shade. it's much nicer out here with that cloud..."

Shanna neighed happily as the sapphire floated over to the counter. "Oh! Mother will love this! I also would like that opal necklace for myself and sea shell braclets for both forelegs, please." as she brought out a bag of bits from her pouch.

Hoss was counting out his half of the bits to buy the sapphire, then he gave a joyful bounce as he read the new sign. "All right! Surfing lessons!"

Shanna gasped as the huge stallion tossed an entire bag of bits down for a lesson "Oh my! He sure is brave facing down a fear like that, Hoss."

She backed up a step seeing the hostile glare leveled at them both. "Even if he is scary..."

Hoss' determination to keep near the wagon increased as he and his sister set down their bits for their purchases. Now even Shanna seemed to share his concern of this strange unicorn. He waited until Dusty was busy with the water before putting the purchases in his saddlebag and asked Shanna to keep an eye on Dusty too.

Hoss smiled to Aqua drop "I would love to learn how to ride a surf board! Would you need to wait until you are done with him though?"

He hoped if he was forced to wait, that would just give him sufficient high ground to launch from easier in case of trouble.

Shanna giggled and looked over at Clyde "You'll love this Dolmedes. Wait a dragon? yes, that sounds really dangerous!"

Hoss sniffed the air just as Shanna spotted the smoke.

Both ponies jumped from their seats and rushed to the professor, finding the fire. "EEK! Your Tail!"

Hoss beat on it with a wingtip while shanna grabbed a water carafe' in her mouth an splashed it on the tail. Between them, they quickly put it out.

"Are you all right sir?"

The twins aheh as they belatedly realize they busted up someone's fun before he was done with it. The stallion sheepishly folds his "ams" behind him and scuffs the air with a hoof. "Sorry, we were in a rush. we were diverted from busting up another one in that directon by a few panicky unicorns."

Shanna hmms and looks the adventureous pegasus over and gets a wicked grin "Welll if you two want to have fun with a storm, how about coming with us? That one we were originally heading for looks like it will get as big as this one if it's not sat on right away."

She looks at her brother, with a twitch in one eye meaning he better not say "no'.

"Sooo There should be no trouble at all in letting it brew up for some fun. after all, we were going to surf on the stormfront wind riiight?"

Hoss looked away "Errr, ahhh n-no problem at all. Who's up for Storm surfing?.."

The twins looked up as the water erupted, entranced as the water rained down behind them, stepping closer to the table as the water splashed and laughing like foals.

They suddenly turned in surprise, watching the huge stallion freak out, bits and valuables falling out of his opening saddlebags. Both twins shared a worried look as he called upon Nightmare Moon. Hoss knew between that and the scattered jewels, there would be no problem convincing his sis to watch her step with this one.

The display finally ended and the twins clopped their hooves happily as the water returned to the tank.

Shanna and Hoss put their heads together and whispered, then turned back to Aqua. Shanna smiled as she noted the unicorn watching what Dusty put in his bags with a wary eye. "If you dont mind telling us what it's like at the sea shore, We will want to buy some things for myself, and one of those sapphire necklaces in that display for our mother.

Is this gentlecolt ahead of us though?"

Hoss gamely pretended he had not seen the breakdown and took a moment to look around to see if the display brought other ponies * the more the merrier...* he thought.

He tossed his tail eagerly, waiting to ask if she can explain surfboards...

This is my first time checking this part of the board. Interesting... I have been reading these specific RPs over the past few days too.

I can take a stab at it as soon as I can get some art cleared off my MUST-do list.

I was a hoof-full and then some. I was like a combination of Twilight and Derpy hooves. I would score higher than college level in some areas and.. below average in others... ...and my imagination drove me to do some CMC style stunts that made my parent gasp. I could climb trees, doorways and even escaped from my crib as a toddler by pulling up and shinnying down the bars...

I also have a strange tie to horses. Mom says it took them untill I was three to get me to stop "galloping" on all fours anywhere I had to go quickly. and the first thing I asked my parents as a full question was "where is my tail?"

After testing, I was told I was a "clutterer" -explained to me as having dyslexia, but centered on numbers. It's not as bad now but still hits me in unexpected ways even now. I guess these days I would have been diagnosed with ADD too...

Shanna now ulped and backed up a step away from the huge unicorn, flaring her wings wide and arching her back like a cat, exposing her under-wing carry pouch for a moment. "Celestia! I thought that was a decoration! Is... is it... uh, she safe?!"

Hoss also ulped, seeing how huge the stallion was upright and placed himself between the snake and his sister, muttering "Luna protect me..."

If there was trouble as he was worried over, he hoped the surprising strength packed into pegasus wings from long distance flying would give him an edge.

Seeing how few ponies were about, Hoss determined right then they would not leave while they were the only ponies close, well, untill he could see the petite unicorn would be fine anyway. "Hey, Shan, we have nothing better to do for awhile yet, so we might as well hang out here and learn more about the sea.."

He nodded an introduction to both unicorns in turn "I'm Star Skybright, or Hoss to my friends."

The matching mare put some of her attention back on Aqua in relief as well as on Dusty, still a little shaken by the rattler as she dropped her back's arch to normal. "And I am Shanna Skybright, We do a lot of traveling ourselves for the Weather Patrol and the Royal Canterlot Observatory, but rarely as far as the seas. Farthest we have been on our own so far has been out to Appleoosa and toward Rockwington."

I had a fantastic recipie for horse cookies, horse treats that taste good to people too, but that vanished off my computer several hard drive crashes ago and my hardcopy was accidentally taken when a roomie moved out several years ago and grabbed her cook books (and some of mine; oops)

Instead, I'll post this recipie that a fine Australian skunkie friend sent me;

YIFF IN A PAN

Base Layer

1 cup crushed peacans

1/2 cup margarine

1 cup flour

3 tbsp. sugar

1 hand-full brown sugar (Optional)

1/2 tsp. vinilla (Optional)

Second Layer

250 gram pkg Cream Cheese

1 small carton of Cool Whip (Option: large container)

2 pure chocolate bars (Optional)

Third Layer

1 small pkg instant pudding, chocolate

1 small pkg instant pudding, vinilla

2 cups of milk (1/2 the milk called for to make the pudding on the pkg's

instructions)

Topping

1 pkg Cool Whip (large or small)

sprinkles

BASE: Mix all base ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Cut until fine.

Press into a large pan. Bake 20 mins (approx.) at 350F. Chill after baking.

2nd LAYER: If using chocolate, melt chocolate on low heat on stove top.

Soften cream cheese. Mix in cool whip and chocolate (if used) until totally

blended. Spread on top of base layer.

3rd LAYER: Make the pudding using ONE CUP of milk for each pkg of pudding.

Spead over 2nd layer.

TOPPING: Spread Cool Whip over 3rd layer and garnish with anything you like.

(I recommend sprinkles.)

Keep chilled. Enjoy.

The green Pegasus glanced over, noticing the twin Pegasi that had just entered the cafe.

"Guten Morgan dere young vones! It is a beautiful day! Say! You two look familiar. Ever attended classes at Canterlot University?"

The pair smile and inspect the menus, enjoying the smells and the description of the food and speak in unison. "Thank you. We will order in a moment, miss."

The pair look over to the dizzy pegasus, with Shanna coming over to walk around him for a moment, then back, satisfied at no obvious damage.

Hoss nods "Good morning Professor. I'm Star Skybright, My friends call me Hoss. We have indeed, in Astronomy. We have not had any of your classes though. We're now doing field work when we arent on weather patrol."

Shanna smiled "Good Morning Professor, I'm Shanna Skybright. You may know our mother, the Astronomer, Starbright. She's jet black with a white star on her forehead, and a shining star cutie mark. She is sometimes called in to lecture there."

She tillted her head to inspect his wing "We saw the nasty crash you just had and came to see if you were all right."

Hoss grinned "And the delicious smells ensure we will stay."

He turned to Savory Delight "I'll try the moussaka and a sampler platter, with some of that baklava for dessert, and whatever you recommend to drink with the meal."

Shanna nods "I'll have the dolmades, sampler, double the baklava for me and I'll have the same thing to drink, please."

The Skybright twins were enjoying themselves after a quick weather assignment sent them to Ponyville for the day, their second visit to Ponyville that week.

They were taking the time to get to know the place better and spotted a travelling wagon.

Shanna bounced on her hooves "Oh! Lets go see, Hoss! Maybe it's that Mojo salespony! I want some of his wares for my room!"

The bay pegasus stallion chuckled "All right sis, lets go look..."

Shanna folded her wings and trotted up to the wagon "oh! Jewelry!"

Hoss trotted up as well, after giving the strange stallion already there a quick look over. something about his demeanor put him on guard. He didnt mention it to Shanna as she would probably say its just because it's another stallion...

Hoss looked at the unicorn proprietress "Oh wow! Cool water display! Did this all come from the ocean?"Shanna smiled "Oh my, these are beautiful. Did you collect these yourself?"

Hoss put forth a freindly demeanor but still kept a weather eye on the others...

ah, maybe chat RP would be more my thing

That would be a great start. I've been doing chat RP for most of my time online, and in that time I've had new friends over the years who werent strong in english improve quickly and become fantastic players.

I think Chat or similar text RPs are easier to play "lets Pretend" with since you cant see what the other person looks like except in your mind.

If it helps when you go into the chat, think of it like its you, just wearing a pony mask. then you can work up new pony personalities to try out from there.

and the best rule is; Enjoy yourself.

Thanks to a link in the "What is RPing?" thread, I found Snails is indeed available for me to try and land the part of, but there is a prior post of him in "FiM cast" from back in April.

Are we expected to post them as they originally appeared here or write them up by your own take on the character, like I saw done for Applejack recently with 2-3 different people trying for the role?

A pair of reddish brown streaks flew across the sky, then made a right turn toward the thunderhead from several miles away.

They made for the split in the thunderhead, slowing down as they met the stormfront. the pegasi rode the winds like surfers, then curved their way into the split, coming out on the other side and seperating to race around the clouds in opposite directions, continuing to surf the stormfront.

After several passes, the two cloud halves were slowly rotating away from each other to eventually head off in different, and hopefully more useful directions and not reunite.

The pegasi looped in the air as they spotted the pair on the ground and closed their wings for a dive, coming out of it at a comfortable distance from the ground in unison.

Finally the pair fluttered to a hover and touched down nearby, an unusual sight. mare and stallion twins, down to nearly identical cutie marks. The male nickers and pulls a set of goggles up off his blue eyes "Hello, I'm Star Skybright. (a.k.a Hoss) Did anyone see how long this cell was building? We were diverted here after some unicorns saw an unscheduled storm off in the distance."

The mare takes a quick drink from a water bottle as she wipes her goggles "I'm Shanna. Wow! Looks like someone did most of the work for us up there. Which of you brawny boys split that mess like an apple?"

Madam Bistro smiled warmly at the Sherrif "Certainly, and a milkshake too. I will have Thorn bring them out to the Cafe' deck."

She then looked to Arrow Plain "So, what would you like? I have the fixings for Vanilla, chocolate, cherry, or caramel milkshakes at this time?" She smiled inwardly as she had seen the suspicious glance Arpy cast at Maximillian's back when he wasnt looking. * Good, whatever he's up to, he's not fooling everyone.* she thought.

When Max made his order, she dipped her head aside in a light blush when he did a courteous bow to her "Why thank you, sir! One macchiato coming right up, Mr Rockefilly."

She wheeled about and trotted off to handle the orders from that group herself, while the inside cafe' was bustling with locals and train crew, handled by the other helpstaff.

I hope this is an idea that's not too late, but Ive been reading my way through all the RP posts to get caught up on events and have been noticing a LOT of threads where a shop first opens. Madam Bistro has only been open a few days by the time of "Night of the Comet" and does need some helpstaff or regular customers.

Should I go ahead and start a thread of her first day open and advertising for help?

Braeburn would be a VERY welcome addition to "Night of the Comet" and "Spread the Wealth" in the Appleoosa file!

I think the core personality plays a big part in it. For many, gender is a big part of who they are. Apparently The Doctor will always be a stalwart, pacifistic, quirky British male who seems to see himself as a knight-errant who will keep the Earth safe (even if he can never make it to Benidorm for a long vacation). Perhaps gender is one of the factors that must be unchanged so that they can always say "I am ME!" no matter what the outside wrapper looks like. TImelords must be less flexible than some humans I guess. ;P

Of course, there's always forced changes by nanites, someone playing with HIS timeline, or magic.

There is also the possibility of someone hacking the regeneration protocols and tweaking the presets (Like someone from a rival show, Q or Squire Trelane maybe...)

The twin bay-colored pegasi were stretching their legs in a leisurely trot and enjoying the sights of Ponyville while repairs proceeded on their telescope. Shanna gasped while Hoss winced at seeing an older pegasus crash.

Before they could rush over to help, he got up on his own and staggered into a restauraunt.

The twins looked at each other, their stomachs rumbling at the smells coming from the place. Hoss chuckled "Yeah, lets eat." and trotted into the restauraunt.

Shanna nodded and followed along "and we can check on that old gent too..."

As they entered, they looked around and spotted the proprietress. "Good day Ma'am, we just saw another pegasus enter here and figured this must be a good place to eat. Is there anything you would reccomend today?"
