  1. I hear what you guys are saying. It wasn't so much the story that attracted me as the location. Also, having been through basic training, myself, it really helped me relate to what RD was going through, and the episode overall. The exercise, making friendly rivals, the mess hall. Good times. Lol.

I had no idea you were military man. Salute to you! Consider yourself 20% cooler for defending your country.

The best part of that episode for me was seeing the rerun of the Roid Rage pony. He just cracks me up. I am surprised he isn't a meme someplace on the internet. I have seen moments in my regular day to day life that have practicaly called for him and his YEAAAH!

  2. if that is the official design to me it looks a bit...."Fan Work-y"

Thus far the Mane 6 Ponies have been depicted as being young adults, probably in their 20s, and if it follows the same pattern that many other original worlds do it has many similarities in terms of culture which means that most of them would have to 21 or older since they wouldn't be able to enter a contract and thus could not own a house (True in Twilight's case Celestia probably arranged for her to live in the Library then Applejack's house was the first building built in Ponyville so she's living in her family home, and Pinkie we don't know her exact arrangement, but Fluttershy, Rarity and Rainbow Dash all own their own homes), but I suppose they could always wave it off as being a side effect of the Pony to Human spell that makes their Human forms a different age from their true forms.

But I compared it to a fan image because a number of people have had Human versions of the Mane 6 be High School students, I don't really understand why to me it doesn't make sense, in addition to the point I previously mentioned, most of them either have their permanent job or are taking steps toward it and people who do continue a job they have in high school for the rest of their working lives tend to be either very successful or very unsuccessful. I suppose the logic behind it is that it's a case where you could easily have a mix of character types that may be difficult to have with college or university and somebody who is still school aged would be easier for children to identify with than somebody who has finished schooling started their career (though that still doesn't explain the fan works). Though I would have thought that Monster High would have a monopoly in terms of human characters with non-human colouring (and again a surprising number of fan works have made the Mane 6 Humans but left them with skin the colour of their coats)

Still I won't object too strongly if whatever designs they have do something to dispell some of the (Other) Humanised Pony troupes that I'm not especially fond of, though if they do go with those colours and they've been transported to our world that could be interesting considering Applejack and Rarity are the only ones who are close to normal Human colours; can you just imagine explaining the others

    "Why is that girl pink?"

    "She has a mild sunburn"

    "And that one is yellow...."

    "She suffers from chronic jaundice"

"And what about those blue and purple ones?"

"They have a skin condition that makes them bruise easily"

    "And the orange one?"

    "She's related to Snookie."

  3. Grimm Cinematic:

This was kind of a fun precall. Originally they ordered the long form video, which would have gotten them a trailer. The groom ordered the video, and when I called him they were both getting their hair trimmed. Considering the fact that you can't really think critically while someone else has their hands in your hair, I decided it might be best to email him everything we talked about so that they could have a hard copy to look over together. GOOD THING I DID THIS because the bride emailed me a Pintrest link to a style of video she loved. Turned out the style is similar to the Cinematic video we sell, and it wasn't too late to change their videos. Saved mine and my company's butts on this one, and made for a very happy bride and groom.

  4. Auer Trailer:

These people were AWESOME! My poor bride had a few little hiccups before going down the isle, mainly her flower girl basket being not what she ordered. With the help of her bridesmaid and mum I was able to redesign it in about 15 minutes while they were all getting dressed thanks to me carrying wire and a sewing kit on these video shoots. I also ended up saving the bride's dress with a Tide pen after she got chocolatey fondue fountain goodness all over her dress. They ended up mailing me the nicest thank you card I have ever gotten in my career this week, which just made my day like you wouldn't believe. This has definitely been one of my favorite shoots this season!

  5. This is a REEEEALY good topic. :D

    1) Is the portrayal of men in the series important? Why or why not?

They are an uncommon occurance within the show, and tend to be there to help move the plot forward when needed. We see more females due to the demographic audience of little girls.

    2) What is your overall impression of how men are portrayed?

They are more or less like Ken is to the Barbie doll. A perfect example: The Hearts and Hooves Day. The Cutie Mark Crusaders are practically shopping around for a guy for heavens sake! And they found a Jelly Pony! Though Toy Story 3 did show that a Ken doll can be equal to his Barbie. I'm sure that if given a chance Big Mac or Shining Armor could lead an episode.

    3) Which character best exemplifies good traits for a man?

Mr. Cake. He is a hard working man, a supportive husband, and a loving father. Best of all, he works as a team with his wife, and they communicate brilliantly. Their relationship is not perfect, or even glamours, but they are willing to work on it together.

Communication is the key to a strong marriage, and I would love to see more of they're relationship in episodes as a way to teach this to children. I think it would be great to show this to kids not only for what lies ahead of their relationships, but to help them understand what their parents relationship is.

To many people learn to fall in love with the idea of love, and they expect to have the love story they watched, read, and had pumped into their minds since childhood happen to them. A good example is Rarity and Blue Blood, and how her ideas about love had to be measured up against reality. This is why I like Best Night Ever so much, because her prefabricated expectations go wrong for all the right reasons.

    4) Do the portrays of any of these men hurt the series? Who and why?

I do not feel they hurt the series at all. Men help move the plot forward, and the writers do a good job using them.

On a side note: WHY U NO PUT ROID RAGE PONEH? He's a personal favorite. When I first saw him I about wet myself laughing.

  6. Ignoring the majority of discussion up to this point, this what I have to say on the episode.

It moved ridiculously fast. Like, "it was basically a summary of two episodes in one" fast. I feel like it would have been a little nicer if it was a two-parter, but at the same time, it worked as one episode, even if I still don't like that it moved so stupidly fast. It just seemed like there was no buildup to her becoming a princess. It was just, like, "Oh, so we decided, right now, you're gonna be a princess. Not gonna summon you to Canterlot, not gonna give you a heads up, just 'nope, right now' you're gonna be a princess." I don't care that all three seasons have been building up to this point, if secretly, I just feel like it would have been a little better if it was a little slower and spanned two episodes rather than being crammed into one.

Also, I can't be the only one who thought "Did this just become 'My Little Musical'?" Because there was a TON of singing in this episode. Not that singing is a bad thing (I actually rather liked Twilight's singing voice, plus AJ got a decent verse to save her from that **** that was "Raise This Barn") but it certainly felt like the majority of the episode was mostly singing.

At the end of the day though, this episode put a smile on my face. That's a good episode if ever I've seen one.

I am so glad someone else agrees with the "deal with it princess" feeling. Poor Twilight was asking some good questions about not knowing what a princess does or how it would affect her relationship with Celestia, but once again Trollestia is kind of like "nope, deal with it princess" in a nutshell. I understand that time was short and she didn't have much time to go into details, but that just leaves some good sized plot holes and even a few loop holes. I hope we see these get filled in during season four!

  7. TOP TIP: wet their mane down and brush it with a toothbrush. The results are always stunning.

I curled Rarity's mane by brushing it out like I said above, then curling it around a barret. Next I pinned it into place and pulled it up with a small elastic. I put her under a lamp for about 2 hours, and when I unwound her hair it was curled just like the show. I did the same thing to her tail.

As for Dash, I brushed it, changed the part, and then barret it down. Now the part is different. Then I clipped it to the uneven, bangy nature of the show. It looks great!

    I'll post pics later! :)

I would love to see pics!
