  1. I really like the potential of that idea. Sort of an elder-equine/pony concept that there may be one for seasons, life, death, or elements. However, that immediately makes me wonder if some of them are no longer present or alive, or have abandoned their duties, or any other reason, as the ponies of ponyville are needed to change the weather cycles and seasons. Though, with evidence such as the everfree forest, perhaps other Aliponies control everything outside that sphere of non-influence.

That is an interesting concept. After all how do the seasons change in the ares outside of pony populated lands? Perhaps some alicorn(s) does it silently. Also like the idea of some abandoning their duties; perhaps there were many more alicorns int he deep past and they are fading away. Celestia and Luna could even be all who is left of the once former alicorn sub-species.

  2. I wonder about this too, I'd really like to know whether or not being an Alipony/corn/unisus like Luna/Celestia is hereditary to the royal line, or if it is somehow a status that can be inherited by successors.

Granted, if Celestia and Luna have been around for 1000 years, and dont really show any sign of aging in either of their cases, that beats out the notion that they would need successors at all; but doesn't mean that they couldn't choose successors for if and when they do become tired of their respective responsibilities. I think I prefer this idea, as I'm a sucker for princess Twilight, and to me would offer more potential depth to the world rather than Luna/Celestia forever and always being alive.

Actually, now that I think about that, Celestia's lot has got to be a bit saddening; as it seems to be fairly established that other ponies do not live that long.

It is possible there is an entire family, or even families of Alipony, each who influence or control an aspect of nature, even in an abstract way and Celestia with the Sun and Luna with the Moon is just two of them.

I will agree though it is likely only the Alipony have extremely long (or immortal) lives and it is possible other ponies live no longer than we as people do (or perhaps only even a horse's life span). It could be Celistia and Luna may someday have offspring they could pass off their responsibilities to, but those are most likely concepts and ideas far beyond the planned scope of FiM.

  3. Adding my voice...

I don't see Celestia and Luna as deity figures in any conceivable way. I mean, sure, to *us* they seem to have that power... but we come from a world without magic. This is a world *steeped* in magic, where *every* pony has their own natural connection to controlling the world around them. Rising the sun in the morning, or the moon at night, is a natural extension of cleaning up winter for spring, or making the leaves fall in the autumn, or making the animals wake up from their hibernation, just on a larger scale.

But in our technological world, that'd be the equivelent of declaring that Tesla or Einstein was 'a diety' because they advanced science as much as they did, or had devices no one else did.

As for Celestia's long life and rulership...

In the Lord of the Rings, Aragorn is expected to live and rule for hundreds of years... and we don't consider him a deity figure. And they were obviously young 1000 years ago, since we can see that Luna, when she was bound, was a much smaller and younger pony, no bigger than the average pony, not yet fully grown into her Royal heritage.

As for what religions might exist... well, there are certain real-life religions that fit the series, and other religions that do not. Certainly ANY real-life religion would need to have a much 'milder' past to account for the different *feel* of the world that Friendship is Magic embodies.

And any religion created to fit the world specifically would be up to the individual creator.

Personally I am supportive of the idea of keeping actual religion out of the RP world here, even if in a fanfic sort of way such an idea could be interesting to explore. I believe the lore and magic generally found in FiM is certainly enough, and it is everywhere.

I often wonder if the Alipony are immortal or just live a very long time, since Celestia is a thousand years old at least since she was around to seal Luna in the first place for her thousand year imprisonment. Also wonder how many Alipony there really are? :?:

  4. My family, they have no clue. I think they suspect, but that's about it. For the most part I probably won't involve them at all. Too...narrow minded.

The family is the one group I wouldn't tell (well them and co-workers I suppose), but not like it matters. I don't yell my involvement in any fandom from the rooftops and FiM fandom wouldn't be any different in that regard. When it comes to fandoms, I mostly keep all that to myself during family events, they certainly wouldn't be interested and only find it all weird, so why bother?

My darling friend, Nekoneko, on Subeta made this group pic for my friend Akku and myself of our three pony characters :3 I thought this seemed an appropriate place to show it off. (While I attempt to get her to join this forum *GRIN* )

I am really digging the one on the lower right; it's the hair style, I just really like how it looks. Any story behind each of them and why they have the cutie marks they do?

  6. I'm Kristen~ Age 16. x3

I found out about the whole show because of Razzek of DeviantArt posting some *cough*sexy*cough* pictures of a few MLP FiM characters. <3

I ended up getting curious about the show; did some research, and headed off to Youtube to watch some of it.

Ha! I am going to have to mention this to Razz (I know her and her husband), she will get a big smile out of it. :)

  7. Did anypony see the new movie battle of Los Angelas? Saw it today and it was epic. It reminded me of district 9 except IT DIDN'T SUCK. I enjoyed the story, the visuals, and there was enough of the movie that I could guess what would happen, (So I could feel smart) but enough surprises that it was exciting. It defiantly ranks high on my 'fav movies' list

I wish to see it, although I heard it was exactly as promised in the previews, lots of fighting, action, aliens, and explosions but not much else, which is fine for me.

Funny thing is, there is a movie literally called Battle of Los Angeles that premiered just this last Saturday on Syfy, which is basically a rip-off of Battle: Los Angeles, which is the theater film I am assuming you are talking about.

  8. saw the trending status of the show on knowyourmeme.com, read through the monster post and passed through the pics, didnt really find it interesting until i found this pic (actually a wall of text but is a .jpg)

Well I admit, this is a my innocent, silly, escape show and fandom. Normally I would only pay attention to programs or games that were thoroughly adult in story or content; and/or contained ridiculous amount of "typical" dude-fare action with guns, explosions, violence, and/or tons of cool looking vehicles. I never cared for anything like Pokemon or Sonic or Disney. Perhaps the fella in your link is right, perhaps this show allows the expression of that small "little girly part" of myself that I previously never really allowed myself to express; after all I have a little Applejack and a little Derpy on my desk, I would never thought in a million years before this I would own some MLP. These are as good excuses as any for me for being such a fan of something I otherwise wouldn't have been if I didn't sit down that first day and watched the show.

Some friends and co-workers give me constant crap about being into FiM, refusing to watch and thinking "what the hell happened to him to like this", but I have learned to be alright with it, everyone deserves one little innocent escape, and this one is mine.

  9. Oh, no, I'm sorry! I should have clarified. This is a super spectacular mega awesome electronic music festival, aka rave. :) Featuring musical artists like Infected Mushroom, Noisia, Cosmic Gate, Dirtyphonics, and quite a few others. It IS Alice in Wonderland themed, and will have amazingly awesome light displays, costumed actors, dancers, wicked cool vendors, delicious eats, interactive art displays (with music and FIRE), and best of all....amazing music! :D

Well that actually does sound pretty cool. If I was somewhat younger and didn't have two left feet and wasn't shy I would want to check that out, because it sounds like quite an event (I do like electronic and techno genres of music).

  10. Oh gosh, I feel really old reading all these replies ^^;

I got into MLP when I was 2. It's been an obsession of mine since then. Through the first gen show and then My Little Pony Tales in the 90s. At first I was really wary of MLP being re-released, but FiM is definitely adorable and didn't let me down like the first retry of ponies did a couple years ago (though even those were cute in toy form, just a little too sickly sweet in animation form :3 )

Don't feel old! Heh, I haven't seen a single person here yet that has met my age (even if I am still in my thirties). :)

  11. Ahhhmg you guys got them at Mcdonalds?! So lucky! I've never seen any merchandise for FiM before ;3; I'd kill for a pony on my desk lmao

Unfortunately you cannot get them at McDonalds any longer. I did notice some at Walmart or Target, but be careful, the toys are pretty hit or miss when it comes to being close to accurately portraying the characters.

  12. I gotta ask...

    >Residence: A small carrot farm outside of Ponyville to the southwest (but born in Fet Loch)

Where is Fet Loch? We have out own maps here so if you would please use them to reference about your ponies that would be wonderful so people are all on the same page.

Other than that tid bit, looks nice! Approved.

Ahh, sorry, I wrote that part before I knew of the map and forgot to changed it. I suppose the idea was he was originally from very far away (hence the accent, I was actually thinking a place analogous to Scotland, really it was a plot devise more than anyplace to ever visit or anything) but then moved to the nearby countryside outside of Ponyville where ponies could start farms. If I had to pick a place on the map for a home where he emigrated from I would say somewhere in one of the smaller more isolated valleys of the Solstice Heights (where, as you say "Many of the lower class unicorns and ponies live").

  13. First saw this through a link on Equestria Daily: Someone recently made a post on Ponychan about a very difficult situation in their life confronting an abusive stepfather for his crimes, and managed work up the courage to do it with a little help from FiM, especially Dash. What really made the story cool is Faust herself leaves a very supportive comment in the thread, very awesome indeed. ^_^

Here is the thread in question: http://www.ponychan.net/chan/pony/res/19730.html

  14. I think this episode endeared Rainbow to a lot of people...and validated a LOT of people's dislike of Rarity.

Even her over acted drama to the ruining of her career in "Suited For Success" made it hard to feel bad for her.

I don't think many bronies dislike Rarity, just like her a little less than the others. Personally I think her character does have a great deal of depth; yes she did get all dramatic in "Suited for Success" but that episode showed her generosity even more so, and let's face it, her friends did make it pretty much impossible for her to succeed at first (I saw the episode as a gentle ribbing at the Hasbro execs who like to make "suggestions" to the writers and "only trying to help"). The Diamond Dog episode also was a win for Rarity because she faked being all dramatic in order to manipulate the dogs into submitting to her (they did surrender all their gems in the hopes she would go).
