1. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria

    Name: Penstroke

    Sex: Male

    Age: Stallion

    Species: Unicorn

    Eye Colour: Red violet (#C71585)

    Coat: Taupe Gray (#8B8589)

Mane/Tail: Cool Gray (#8C92AC) His mane is messy and straight. It is also long, extending to his neck. His tail, unlike his mane, is short, but still remains it's untidiness; it curls slightly on the end.

Physique: A bit underweight, but of average height; his hooves are slightly longer than the typical stallion.

Residence: Crystal Empire, in the Diamond Ward.

    Occupation: Traverse Mapping employee, Calligrapher

Cutie Mark: A calligraphy brush and pen, intersecting and forming a cross.

As a colt, he was fascinated by art; it was visually appealing and beautiful, if not anything else. (His artistic taste was catalyzed most likely by his father's occupation as a painting restorer.) Penstroke had his first glance at calligraphy when his father and he visited Stalliongrad Museum, where his father worked in; it was there that he saw old script calligraphy that the museum had stored. He was immediately astonished; art that took on the form of letters! He had decided to experiment into this field.

It was then that he knew calligraphy was not as easy as it seemed. It required precision, dedication, and a good deal of practice. It was something that could not be accomplished within a few weeks time. The work was tiring an grueling, but Penstroke persisted and studied to further understand calligraphy. There were different styles of writing, along with several terms and certain rules to make words look aesthetic.

One day, the Stalliongrad Museum was bringing in new objects into the museum. The employees there wanted to celebrate this event; when Penstroke heard about this, he decided to make a banner for the event to surprise them. He went to work at once, using his calligraphy skills to attempt to create his "masterpiece".

After working for day and night, he had finally finished the banner he had been working on, and brought it to his father, who was at that time working at the Stalliongrad Museum. Showing his finished work to his father, he was rather disappointed that he could not present the banner at the special event; another calligrapher before him, who was more experienced than Penstroke, had already finished it before him. He was a bit sad about this, until his father commented that he actually liked the banner more than the one that the museum calligrapher made. Brightened by this remark, he had promised more of his work to come in the future. It was then that his cutie mark appeared on his flank; he was unaware of the appearance of his cutie mark until he was told by his witnesses. (which included his father)

History: Penstroke was born in Stalliongrad; son to a father, who worked as a painting restorer and employee of the Stalliongrad Museum, and a mother, who works as a historical researcher- he does not have a sibling. Both of his parents are unicorns. He was born into a prosperous, though not quite wealthy, family, and in his early years lived in the Chenya District of Stalliongrad.

Due to the area he lived in, he was expected to do well academically by his parents. Penstroke, however, was more interested in art than he was in school; he still did fairly well in school, but it was just that the subjects it focused on did not interest him as much. Having a blank flank didn't bother him much; he believed he would get his cutie mark eventually, one way or another. Plus, not everyone in his class had one yet.

After he got his cutie mark, however, he got himself into getting tutored from a professional calligrapher, in which he hoped to visit as much as possible. Penstroke even became friends with his instructor. Sadly, something happened that changed his life; his parents had already decided that they have to move to Trottingham because his mother was hired into an another company in which believed was more profitable. Moving was difficult for the colt; he had to leave his friends in Stalliongrad behind.

He had realized that Trottingham was very different than Stalliongrad; it was warmer, more populated, and "different" mannered ponies. Penstroke lived in the southern parts of Trottingham; he also took his secondary education there. There he had a fresh start, making new friends (one particular example is his neighbor, Carom) and adapting to life in his new environment.

In his adult years, he had decided to move back to Stalliongrad himself, moving from job to job. This continued until another event occured; an unusual mare arrived into Stalliongrad asking for directions. It was later revealed, after befriending her and getting into a conversation, that she was actually a cartographer who had arrived here from the Crystal Empire- which had seemingly disappeared from existence for more than a millennium- to visit the outside world and to also bring some updated maps to Stalliongrad. She was also establishing a mapping company. Astonished by her tale and noticing that his skills can come into use (as he can use his calligraphy skills on maps), he decided to join her mapping company and move to the Crystal Empire. There, Penstroke was amazed by the place- he was here to stay.

Penstroke still continues to remain in the company and make maps with his "partner, though he does return to Stalliongrad, his original hometown, and Trottingham, where his parents currently reside.

Character Summary: Penstroke is a pony who is straightforward and direct; he tries to hide nothing and is concise, or short and to the point. His philosophy is that he should always see the big picture of things, and the smaller details can be left for later. Time should not be wasted on something for too long.

He tends to be more impulsive and conventional, doing what should generally be done and follows the "crowd"- Penstroke thinks that the actions and belief that are most accepted are the ones that are usually correct. He does have his limits, however; he is aware when a general belief or action is logical and reasonable and whether he should follow it or not.

In a way, Penstroke is an idealist, thinking that the "perfect" possibility can be be achieved. He always sees the best of what happening, because in reality, he doesn't want to be put down by the negatives of issues, fearing that it would affect his will and efficiency on things.

Penstroke is also has a persuasive tongue, though he sometimes uses it to get other ponies to do what he doesn't feel like doing himself. This results in accidental and unintended harm or damage or getting himself into trouble. He also has a bit of a flirtatious attitude.

In his leisure time, Penstroke listens and collects music records and practice his calligraphy skills, occasionally creating his own calligraphy fonts. Secretly, he makes up fantasy stories using maps with himself. (Nopony knows...yet.)

((This is my first non-Crystal Pony in the Crystal Empire. And first Unicorn OC, too. ._.))

  2. It's ANOTHER Derpy from ANOTHER dimension!

    I shall call him...Mirror Derpy. (The others are Original Derpy/Derpyy, Alternate Derpy/RetroDerpy, Flatland Derpy/Monochrome, and H. G Derpy/DerpyHoovess.)

Welcome to Canterlot, 5th Derpy! :D

  3. I've been thinking of it, and noticed that the GE North section of the Greater Equestria (WOE) hasn't been posted for six months. I was considering reviving it, but want to know if that section is still open; it doesn't seem locked, yet it remains untouched for months.

Also, is it still okay to have history related to there for my OC? I have seen that the Lore and World Archive is quite outdated (as a person before me had been answered that the section is not very reliable), but is the Stalliongradthread still reliable?

Plus, does areas outside but nearby the Crystal Empire count as GE North? (If such a place were to be RPed.) I am asking this because I have seen RPs take place outside of some cities or towns (such as Ponyville).

  4. (Sorry for the inactivity.)

Ballad was now inside the spring; her hoofbag in which she had previously been bringing to the day spa was now stored someplace where it could not be affected by the steam. A while ago, she had some problems. At first, she was a bit nervous about entering the spring itself, as it was a bit...too hot. She was basically putting her hoof in, then taking in out after the few seconds, repeating this process until she had the wits to just hop into the spring, noticing that it was not as hot as it seemed to was.

After a few minutes remaining in the hot spring, she had admitted that it wasn't that bad at all. Maybe they were right; she needed a break once in a while. She sighed in relief, closing her eyes. Her rest didn't last long, however, as she heard a small noise. She woke up, glancing around shortly until Ballad decided that it was just a minor disturbance; nothing to mind too much about. She returned to her sleep, only to be, once again, awaken by another noise. What was it? Was something broken inside?

Ballad was beginning to get a bit annoyed. Was there something broken? Or was it another customer was that was apparently disrupting the order in the spa (remembering what Lotus had said.)? She had decided to find out for herself, leaving the hot spring and opening the door.

The noise was revealed to be somepony's snoring. It's just nothing, Ballad assured herself. Nonetheless, the loud snoring was irritating, and she closed the door afterwards to barricade some of the sound. Ballad didn't feel like disrupting another pony's sleep, let alone their time at the spa. Maybe the spa ponies would take care of it.

  5. To Hinata,

I very much like to thank her; she may not know it, but she is the reason I came to this site in the first place. I've seen her from another site, and tracked her name (from Google) to here, Canterlot. If it wasn't for her, perhaps I wouldn't have met all you people.

Best wishes to the MCF roleplayer, and I hope you meet new friends like us to wherever the wind takes you.

From the person you may not know,

  6. - Cartophile: Most recent one; some call my Carto for short. Pretty self-explanatory.

    - Consonance: Used for several months from different forums, names after the repetitive use of consonants in poetry. Con for short.

    - TehBbqdPizza/TBP: The most familiar one, apparently

    - BbqPizza: The shortening of my own name, used for more than a year before changing it.

    - Omglolbbqpizza: The original name.

    - Whirlwind: Got this from my friend after helping him name his OC this name.

    - Skewer: The alternative name my brony friends in real life nickname me.

    - Derpy, Alt Derpy, Flatland Derpy, and H. G. Derpy: The Derpy quadruplets, each from a different universe. Currently the proud user of these multiple characters in the chat.

Actually, now to think of it...I didn't notice Kodo and Kuna was one word. Kodo is Rhythm, Kodoku is lonely. Na is a connective word to something a noun.

And I thought it was one big word. If it was like that, it'll be incorrect and have no meaning. (Rhythm ???) Lonely Loser. (Kodoku Na Haisha)

Kyoto is a city in Japan, Yokai means ghost. Referenced off "Nura: Rise of the Yokai", where Kyoto is the most abundant places of Yokai.

  7. Sea Swirl couldn't believe it. The longer she remained in the group, the crazier things got. "Uhh...maybe I should go next." The ponies here don't seem very skillful... maybe I could win without too much difficulty.

She positioned her bowling ball , closing one eye temporarily to maintain her aim correctly. Sea Swirl wanted to curve this ball, in hopes to hit the pins from the side and topple all of them with ease. That was what she planned of; Sea Swirl was not aware of the difficulty to execute such a task, let alone consider other possibilities. She was confident, too confident, that the ball would strike.

This was what prevented her from succeeding. Instead of the bowling ball striking the side as she expected, it instead went straightforward, hitting the tip. The mere hit only resulted in having three pins down; not good enough for the blue mare to conclude it as a "good" shot. She bit her lip in frustration, seeing herself failing in front of these ponies. She knew that she could do better, but in this case...she just couldn't.

"Well, better luck on the second shot!" Sea Swirl said, and she picked up another bowling ball, this time it at the still standing apex pin. She felt that she should no longer take her chances with a curve ball, and shot it straight forward. The second attempt hit just four of the pins. Ugh...what is going on? Sea Swirl muttered in disbelief. "Might have messed up a bit," Sea Swirl declared the the group.

  8. (Not a RPH)

    Hello Housin,

For the dream and goal, I think it's a bit too dimple to conplete. It might be better to create a much more difficult goal; anyone could easily get to the Crystal Empire. Plus, nothing is specified why he wanted to go there. Was it because he was curious of the land which was mysterious to him? The excitement of exploring?

And the named ponies; can you please say who are these ponies? There are a few that are not specified. Are they their relatives? friends? other gemfinders?

Plus, you should attempt to proofread your application; it's a bit difficult to read. Thanks! :)

  9. "And hello to you, too. Name's Sea Swirl." she greeted the donkey, along with a welcoming smile. So he's Cranky... Sea Swirl thought, acquiring this new fact. The other filly was also revealed to be Twist, and appeared to be close friends with Cranky, as they both seemed quite familiar with each other, as if they've met each other many times before (which was probably the case).

The older mare, called "Heart" by Cranky, was now bowling on the lane. She had grabbed a bowling ball, notably heavy, and struggling to throw the ball out, the ball did not roll, but instead created a small crater on the lane. The mare was later enraged in a "fight" with the bowling ball, using her magic to attempt to pull the bowling ball out of the crater.

"Stop!" Sea Swirl demanded tersely, then continuing. "I think it'll be better if we...switch to another lane. The employees here can fix it, and I don't think the lane is actually usable anymore." She moved to the lane she previously used, grabbing a new bowling ball, which, unlike Twist's and Heart's ball, was decent in weight. "So, if everypony is prepared, we can start. Who's going first?"

  10. Despite only one mare working as an employee in the cafe, Ginger seemed to work swiftly and get to their orders in a fairly short time. Skewer was a bit astonished by the mare's accent; she was probably from the countryside once. While the mare was brewing his drink, he noticed a younger colt waving to him when he finished his order of cream latte. He was doubtful he even knew the colt, but then again, Skewer did not feel like disappointing the colt by simply ignoring his actions. He, though slightly reluctant, waved back to the colt, making a pretend yet natural smile.

The encounter has passed a few minutes of time, and later he was served with a latte. It seemed like the perfect cup of...perfection. Nothing seemed out of place, and he especially liked the cream "art". It was simple, yet so appealing. But he knew a cup of coffee wasn't about appearance, but about its taste. The taste was everything about a coffee; it can be very well said it was something that just could not be overlooked.

Skewer took a short sip of the latte first, holding the liquid in his mouth for some time to tell apart it's array of tastes before he gulped the latte in, sending an immediate surge throughout his body. It was then, due to that first sip, that Skewer became absent-minded. The coffee cup was invitingly calling to him again for a second sip, in which he complied. He was later draining it, allowing energy to shoot through his nerves. Surprisingly, he had prevented even one drop from leaking as he drank the large amount of latte.

He snapped out of his subconscious mind, finding out that he needed a deep breath from gulping too much coffee in such a long time. A great deal of latte has disappeared from the cup. Then the aftershock came. Skewer began sensing a burning pain in his stomach, and at that moment he knew that he had drank way too much as he expected. Fortunately, it was not at all harming, but did ache his insides a bit. Maybe I should have drank slower...

  11. Sea Swirl blinked. Not long after she had challenged the group for a game, a filly had arrived to their lanes, greeting the group, especially the one named "Cranky", though she did not know who it was. Notably, the filly had a lisp, which made her speech slightly difficult to understand. Sea Swirl giggled when the filly said the name "Cranky"; who on Equestria will call somepony- or some donkey- such a name. She had covered her mouth, however, to prevent anypony (or, to make things less complicated, anyone) from being offended.

Her view turned to the more slovenly stallion who was about to shoot in a warm-up shot, or so he called it. Sea Swirl had noticed his position and his launch was a bit off, along with being too forced, and the bowling ball neared the gutters. She was sure it wouldn't get in, until the stallion's flies flew off to the bowling ball, pushing it to the other side. The event was unexpected; Sea Swirl wasn't ever sure if flies were that powerful. Maybe she should research flies more often; they might not be as gross and terrible as they seem. Nonetheless, she saw it as cheating, and predictably, the stallion also saw it as so. Sea Swirl was content with the stallion's admittance. At least he wasn't an intentional cheater, as she disliked them and their unfair actions.

"Unbelievable!" Sea Swirl said in a rather surprised manner. "How...how did they do that?"

  12. Carom had before crawled out of bed at noon, where the hour hand was perfectly facing in the same direction and above the minute. But she could not see that, as her vision was blurred, and blinking had little effect on clearing it. She had wondered why she had made the decision to get up in the first place, until she recalled why. It was for the rejuvenating "antidote" to her weariness.

She had not slept for a good deal of the night. Carom had been participating in a local pool nine-ball tournament in Trottingham which started in the evening, which spanned into much of Luna's night. Carom had won the tournament, but she had reconsidered whether the win was worth the trouble. Probably not.

But, her blurriness eventually faded, and she went on a journey, a five-minute journey, to the cafe at Tatterstall and Stampford. There was where she would finally find her remedy, and Carom had used what remaining energy she had inside of her to get there. As she continued to her goal, she had attempted to avoid sunlight where it struck; in fact, she had remained in the shadowy sections where Celestia's sun could not reach. She could not afford to blind her eyes once more by such brightness. When she finally reached her destination, she foggily stumbled onto a seat inside the cafe, taking a short rest, and proceeding to the "line", which was, thankfully, empty.

Carom, now at the counter, glanced at the menu shortly. She didn't care what she wanted. For all she knew, she could have every kind of coffee and shoot it all down, along with feasting on a large array of food and other drinks. Irritably, she took out some bits- for how much, she did not know- and placed them on the counter. Carom was notably using her hoof to pressurize the surface of the counter, almost if she is using it to pull herself up.

"I'll want..." she muttered weakly at first, until her voice rose once more a few seconds later. "...the cappuccino espresso, two blueberry bagels, a chocolate chip muffin, and a cheese croissant. Coffee needs to be fa-extremely caffeinated." Carom demanded.
