Slick bounced along somewhere, he didn't really know which way he was going but when you have your eyes closed and hum to yourself your bound to bump into something or somepony at some point. As if on que THWAK right into somepony else. Slick took a small while to recover and see none other than Knight infront of him... oh and that other pony too from earlier... whats his face. Slick let out a laugh and pulled himself up, holding out a hoof for Knight to "[colour=#006400]Well wakey wakey there bro! Didn't know you'd gotten up since I saved your flank![/colour]" He laughed, glad he could joke about it now it was behind them, though not really sure if Knight had known he had to be saved a small while ago "[colour=#006400]So... I kinda did something stupid while you were out... Kinda told Shade I had a thing for her...[/colour]" He said half proudly, though still a hint of a blush on his cheeks "[colour=#006400]Aaaaand... she said she said, listen to this, SHE! Said that she could see me every day and that I would make her smile[/colour]" he said with a small sigh, not remembering that Knight couldn't care less for fillies, turning to look at the other drowned pony from earlier "[colour=#006400]But sorry! Where's my manners, I'm Slick... not too sure if we have 'properly' met yet... though my memory is pretty horribl[/colour]e" He laughed, nothing could make this day bad! Too bad there wasn't going to be too much of day left by the looks of things...

Derpy didn't really know what to say... such a good story full of sadness and happiness all mixed up in a jumble of words. "Wow...." Derpy let out, finishing off the last muffin "So that explains the big key thingy..." she muttered as suddenly that random stallion from earlier fell between the two ponies, instantly pinning the changeling to the wall. Derpy jumped up and pulled at the stallion to try and pull him off of her newfound friend "Stop this please! Hes a good changeling! Don't do this!" She yelled, as she kept trying to pull at him "And no sword fighting! Can't we just talk about this!?"

"Oh!" Derpy said, a little surprised... guess she hadn't really thought that one through had she... Derpy fluttered over and landed squarely back on the seat with a wide smile, ready to hear more "Guess that makes sense doesn't it? I just don't know what went wrong with me there" she laughed, sneaking another muffin "Continue!"

"Oh wow..." Derpy let out with a swallow of her last muffin, suddenly feeling a little awkward and a bit sad that she had been so... pre-judgmental. Kinda like how she got with the eyes thing "Well I get what your saying... someponies are so mean! They always bring up the... the... she started, one eye trailing off a bit "you know..." she muttered, eyes and ears drooping "Don't worry Mr. Changeling... I wont tell anypony about you... Not one! I... I promise..." she muttered with a small sigh "sorry about others... like that stallion from before... he's an odd one" she said with a small smile "And thanks for the muffins! They were so scrumptiously delicious!" She smilled again, giving a small nod to the mare "Almost as good as mine!"

Derpy grabbed a good two... no twos not enough, three more muffins before plopping herself onto the couch, still a mouth full off muffin being chewed in her mouth as she spoke "Ok! I'm ready" she spluttered out, not too many chunks of muffin spraying from her mouth as she got comfortable, still eating away at her muffins

After Slick placed Knight onto the bed he could feel his hooves shaking from the nerves it was just too much, he felt like at any moment he could pass out [colour=#800080]"..There's no reason to be sorry.." [/colour]He heard that cute little voice say, he could see what was coming next, a big 'but', why did that word exist? It got so many hopes up and then pow! Right in the kisser you were shut down, feeling worse than you would if they had just said no! Oh well Slick... the thought was good while it lasted [colour=#800080]"..I feel like you're the kind of pony who I could see every single day and never grow tired of. You're fun, random, and.. and you do silly things all the time and it make me laugh" [/colour]Wha... what!? that was... unexpected, Slick felt a warm feeling pass from his head to hooves and a bright blush appeared across from cheek to cheek, he would have said something if he could feel his body, jaw just dropped while Slick tried to remember how to talk again, it all turning into mush in his head [colour=#800080]"I REALLY like you, Slick!! But, you're right.. I'm sure everything will work out" [/colour]See! He had told himself that honesty was the right thing! But half of Slick didn't want to listen, aw well, it all worked out really. He turned and gave Shade a small parting gift on the cheek, just a little peck for good measure! "[colour=#006400]It's fine Shade... you deserve it[/colour]" He smiled warmly before leaving round the side of the colts cabin, popping his head back round for one last thing "[colour=#006400]See ya! Good luck with figuring your things out![/colour]" He said with a smile, at least Pocket wouldn't have seen much from the beech seeing as the two were at the front of the cabin. He started to head down to the beach with a spring in his step, oh glorious day!

Slick was pretty happy that he could have a hoof helping Knight up to the cabin... poor guy... stupid stupid... but still, not everypony had gone through lifeguard training... not everypony knew about how bad the water could be. He looked up to see who was actually helping him and saw Shade of all ponies [colour=#800080]"I'll you help carry him. Great job with the cpr!! I was really worried back there!!"[/colour] Slick had kinda done that hadn't he... Why did Slick have so much trouble suddenly finding the words to speak to this filly! He was fine on the bus... "[colour=#006400]It was nothing really... I'm just glad Knight isn't hurt...[/colour]" He said with a small smile, leaving the conversation with a bit of an awkward silence as they carried the half concience colt up to the cabins "[colour=#006400]So Shade....[/colour]" He said, trying to think of something to continue "[colour=#006400]erm... you and Pocket huh? She seems... nice you know[/colour]" He said, letting out a nervous laugh, the last time he'd had any interaction with her she had given him a demon glare. Things were just too odd for Slick, he needed to come clean and now, while they were alone "[colour=#006400]Look Shade... Your a really pretty filly and I really like you... But I will leave it at that... I don't want to break anything up between you and Pocket... I just needed to get that off my chest... I'm sorry...[/colour]" He said, starting to mutter as he reached the end, not really wanting to look at Shade. Atleast the two had reached the colts cabin... What where you thinking Slick? Derpy took a muffin in her hooves and let out a gasp, wide eyed as she held the still warm muffin in her hooves, it seemed to glisten as she stared at it, taking a long pause before taking a long, large bite... hmmmm... she took another pause before chewing and swallowing the warm muffin "hmmm... there amazing! Thank you so much mrs... erm... changeling?" She said with a small smile before taking in more bites

Derpy was a little reluctant to answer, she still didn't trust the changeling, for all she knew he could have brain washed his 'wife'... that was a thing they could do right? She eventually smelt something familiar... something amazing... he heard the changeling asking the mare what she had baked and the answer was... MUFFINS!!! Derpy jumped up with a wide grin "[colour=#daa520]Muffins?! Names Derpy! The mail mare! Glad to meet ya![/colour]" She called out with a wide smile, holding out a hoof for the changeling "[colour=#daa520]A friend of muffins is a friend of mine![/colour]"

Derpy wasn't happy about this, but decided that she had best comply if she wanted to go quicker. She head over to the couch and slumped down, surprised to see a mare, a pony mare out of her wandering eye, Derpy had had experience with changelings once but that was when Chrysalis tried to take over Ponyville (In the comics). "[colour=#daa520]Why are you here with a changeling!?[/colour]" She asked the mare in suprise "[colour=#daa520]Do you know what he did to me!? One minute I'm delivering mail then I'm being held by the throat![/colour]" She half yelled, she was so annoyed! The mail was going to go undelivered... and it's all her fault for getting sidetracked... nice one derpy

Slick recoiled back after getting a mouth full of salt water from Knights cough up... lovely... Slick soon coughed it up and gave Knight a pat on the back, he was breathing on his own and coming to, Slicks job here was done. He stood up from his friend and wandered over to Violet, giving her a large warm hug, just trying to calm her down "[colour=#006400]Hey cmon Violet he's fine... it's ok[/colour]" he said in a calm, motherly type voice, letting out little 'shhh' just to tell her it was ok and she could quiet down. Slick thought about it for a second and couldn't believe that today he had saved a life... he did the mouth to mouth and it worked! Though he was sure once Knight heard the story he would never want to speak of it again and fair enough, it's not like Slick was going to go round yelling out he practically kissed a stallion, that would not be ideal. Slick pulled back from the hug and smiled warmly, if there was something he was good at that wasn't physics it was knowing how to calm down an upset friend. He placed his hooves on either of Violets shoulders and spoke softly "[colour=#006400]He's fine Violet... I'm going to tell the others to take him to his bed... if you want to go and be there for when he waked up I'm sure that will help you to get closer to him[/colour]" He grinned, wiping a tear from her eye before going back over to Knight "[colour=#006400]Hey, can somepony help me take Knight to his room? He's not going to do great lying out here[/colour]"

Slick saw that Knight was passed out on the sand 'oh sweet Celestia! Well... this training has to come in use at some point right? "[colour=#006400]Sorry Violet! Knights in trouble... if your up for training then in a bit ok?[/colour]" He said with a small but nervous smile, rushing over to puzzle and Flash "[colour=#006400]Puzzle! Put him down there's no time, he needs oxygen now![/colour]" He commanded, 2 years of life guard training and his first proper rescue was his best mate... oh boy. He helped Puzzle to put him onto the floor and nealed by his his friends head, looking down his airways to see if they were blocked... nothing "[colour=#006400]Ok Flash or Puzzle, I need you to press on his chest and I'l do the erm... you know the other thing[/colour]" He said, rushing with a nervous smile before tilting Knights head back "[colour=#006400]Ok Slick... just like training...[/colour]" He muttered to himself, before going for it, breathing deep into the passed out Knights mouth. He came up with a bit of an odd look on his face, mainly because the salt water but still... he was practicaly kissing a colt! And Slick wasn't really into that kinda thing "[colour=#006400]The one that's not pumping his chest keep checking the pulse... c'mon Knight![/colour]" He half yelled as he repeated the process, not liking it any more than the first time

Slick decided the Knight look pretty occupied... I mean he was loosing a competition after all! He made his way to the beach and placed his surfboard just in front of where the ponies where learning to swim, then at least it would be close by if he needed it. He decided to wade out into the water by where Pocket was... now that Shade wasn't here it was probably a good time to sort things out. He couldn't bare himself to look at her so he just looked down at the water as he talked, those beaming eyes still implanted deep into his mind "[colour=#006400]Hey Pocket....[/colour]" He muttered, eyes still glued to the water "[colour=#006400]Look I know you and Shade are a thing but I can't help it! She gives me feelings in my tummy and... I wont say anything to her... you got to her first right? Finders keepers and what not[/colour]" He said with a small, very nervous laugh before spotting Violet out in the open and going under the water... she knew what she was doing right? The look of fear as Violet arose from the deeper water told Slick that probably wasn't the case so after listening to Pocket he headed off to Violet who was now barely in the water, taking a seat next to her "[colour=#006400]Violet.... I saw that[/colour]" he said with a bit of an odd tone in his voice, Slick was pretty good at that. He gave Violet a tap on the nose, like a mother would do "[colour=#006400]You sill filly! You know you could have drowned out there? If you needed help then ask! Those lot might be occupied but I'm still free to teach if you want? I am a junior lifeguuaard![/colour]" he tempted with a grin "[colour=#006400]I don't bite! Cmon it'l be fun, maybe my mate Knight can help once he's done with his competition[/colour]" Slick didn't really know Violet liked Knight, but he did know they were friends and got along, at least with Slick there Violet wouldn't be drowning!

Thanks xD I wasn't really sure about the history seeing as he's only a colt but I guess that does give me something to think about...

With the father thing I had a slight angle but I was pretty afraid of doing the 'my dad was the best scientist ever in the town' kind of thing.

The real problem I had with the history was I was writing it out and it managed to morph in with the personality so extracting the history just came up with one and a bit lines. Will edit as soon as I have time but thanks! you've been a great help!

Slick, though a very bouncy and upbeat colt has always looked up to his father. His father is a scientist within Trotingham and it has always made Slick gleam to see his dad doing all his experiments and to help him in tests and what not. Once they were studying wind patterns and the physics behind how the wind lifts objects. It was during this time Slick felt inspired and decided to set up an experiment on his own to see how much the force of wind is needed to affect certain objects and lift them. It was after the proud Slick submitted his evidence to his dad that the mark appeared on his flank. A leaf swirling in a gust of wind.

History:

Slick lives with his mother and father in the town of Trotingham and has lived there since he can remember. As explained Slick is fascinated with his fathers work within Trotingham. He has always been inspired by how his dad works since he was but a little foal, he always looked so important with his lab coat and all and that always appealed to Slick, not to mention he spent so much time with his dad it the love for science just seemed to rub off. To entertain himself through his early year Slick would just entertain himself for the most part, one of the few traits he gained from his mother, a bit of an arty Mare, always so creative. But Slick would use his imagination as all kids did, one day a guard for Celestia and the next a wizard! Or a dragon! But the only point that Slick looks back and finds himself confused is when he had his first day of school... he was so nervous and now he looks back on it, just to laugh and try as hard as he can not to be that little colt that can hardly speak to anypony. In all it's what drives him to be a better and more upbeat pony.

Slick has kept friends close because he knows what it was like to loose all you have, in kindergarten Managing to loose his only friend when he moved country, so keeping a a large amount of friends is almost an insecurity, not wanting to loose them all again and be left alone, it took a lot for Slick to recover from it, going into a hermit mode where he would just lock himself in his room like his studies where his only company. Those where dark days he keeps in the back of his head as if they never exist.

Character summary:

Slick excels at school when it comes to physics and maths and though he is not really the greatest at them he enjoys the other subjects too but that's because for the most part, excluding a good experiment, Slicks priority in life is to just be happy! He likes to make friends and keep them, if Slick feels like he's done something wrong then there is a flurry of apologies to hope they keep him in the good books, though this does sometimes make things worse then they originally where.

But probably the biggest quirk Slick has is his odd way of doing things or him just in general being a bit odd. He'l sit upside down on the bus-cart to school and just do things that most ponies see as being one slice short of a whole cake, but it doesn't really bother Slick. Unless he receives a direct insult it usually just brushes off but when it comes to a mate being in danger of insults it's a little different. Slick wants to help but doesn't really have that courage to stand up to somepony, and if you manage to either peal away and find something to insult him then he would just run away.

Slick continues to delve into the scientific world when he can, though really only into the physics area he does touch up on the other branches, after school being known to be sneaking into his dads office before he gets home and being found holding a theory or another in his hooves, eyes wide and the office a mess. Keeping friends important in his life too. Slicks drive to be the 'next big scientist' in Equestria to make his dad proud having to take the back seat once in a while if somepony is in need of a pick up or just a helping hoof, though this does cause him to worry a bit too much if unable to help, almost to the point of paranoia.
