  1. (Stuff dun got serious) Shimmer slowly nodded, "I see, so-" she had been about to say more, when she caught sight of Spitfire and Carmus standing by the quickly angering Celestia. She gestured to them with her head, "That doesn't look good..." Carmus had been about to respond to the question of a cure, when he was interupted by the sudden influx of emotions from Spitfire, followed shortly by Deity's relayed message. He turned his eyes towards Spitfire. While he couldn't see Deity, he still scanned the immediate area around Spitfire, ["This is... Peculiar.. Just what in Tartarus..?"] He felt his body tense in fear as Celestia began her tirade, to who he assumed was Deity. When he heard Spitfire 'say' she was scared, he stepped slightly in front of her, backing the two f them away from the miffed Alicorn, ["I know, Nare. Just try to keep calm, don't give Deity an opening."] Nare was something of Carmus' nickname for Spitfire. He didn't like calling her 'Spit', or any variant, and 'Fire' was a fairly common name. Though 'Nare' meant fire, it was in an older language that was utilized by Crystal Ponies under Sombra's rule. Jet-Stream had been on the verge of leaving, along with most of the remaining Raptors and his family, when he heard raised voices. He turned to see Celestia quickly losing her temper with an unseen individual. Though he didn't know the full extent of the situation, he quickly reverted from his casual attitude, to the one of a military leader. The dark coated stallion rounded on his youngest brother, who was hovering off the ground with Rune on his back, "Saro! Get my son and the rest of the non military personal out of here!" Saro nodded, "Right!" He landed, pushing the 'non military personal' - which consisted of the Commander's wife and a score or so of others- out of the area. Jet-Stream turned his attention to the Raptors, "We are not outiftted for this, but if worse comes to worse, we will do out best to keep undue casualties from occurring. Am I clear?!" The chorus of affirmatives caused the Commander to smile, "That's what I like to hear." The militant forces spread themselves out, sorrounding the area in varying combat ready stances.
  2. Carmus looks at her, surprise creeping across his minds, ["Yeah... I can hear you..."] He looks down at her writings, chuckling slightly at the embarrassment that flooded over to him from Spitfire, but he shoved them aside quickly as he spoke, answering Celestia as well, "Yes, it seems so... I can't see or hear Deity, though I'm aware of who he is." (OOC: forgot about this before, sorry) Shimmer nods slowly to Time, "Yeah, I could probably use an explanation."
  3. (I am terribly sorry for posting so slow. I'm kind of wishing I had brought a laptop along on this trip, and not just a mobile. Sometime tomorrow, I should be able to get on an actual computer, and be much quicker and clearer in my posts.) Carmus shivered slightly when Spitfire's fear flooded over to him. He glanced at her, and a second later was struck by the pain of the headache. He grit his teeth as the pain subsided. Feelings of concern and worry crept into his mind. Whatever was happening with Spitfire, he didn't like it, "Is everything alright?" He asked her, "Just nod or shake your head, don't try to speak." *(in the event they can hear each other's thoughts. If not, ignore this part of the post) ["You're not a burden... Well, now I'm imagining things.. Am I? Could this connection give us a mutual telepathy? Don't see why not but.. Huh."]
  4. Carmus could tell Spitfire's inability to speak was causing her distress. He tightened his wing against her as he spoke to Celestia, "We're connected. I don't mean that in the sense that we're connected by love, but I mean literally. Spiritually, I guess." He sighs as he thinks about what to say next, "When Spitfire was in Caelum, she was physically dead for about 15 minutes, I believe the doctor said. While she was there, her life force was consumed. However, upon her revival, her existence was tied to mine. We share a life force. We share pain, we can tell what the other is feeling. Our hearts, like Time and Shimmer, are synced up," Carmus looks at the mare beside him for a few seconds before looking back to Celestia, "If one of us dies... So will the other." He taps a hoof on the floor, "Also, the doctor mentioned another bond. One that was somehow tied to Time, if I remember correctly."
  5. Yeah, I can't exactly post in the main thread until we reach Marelia. So I can at least sleep comfortably knowing I'm not holding anything up.
  6. Carmus raises an eyebrow as the doc speaks. Well, this was interesting. He nods after the doctor finishes speaking, "I see. Thank you." He looks to Spitfire when she nudges him, returning the smile. It took him a second to decipher what she was trying to communicate, but he manage. Carmus nods, wrapping one wing around her as they walked, supporting her. He felt the floor rumble as the shield activated, "Let's hope that was positive.. It felt positive." He says, partially to himself as the neared the door to the auditorium. When they entered, Carmus glanced out one of the nearby windows. Sure enough, there was a shield around the city, and the surrounding country, and it was coming from the gem. He sighs, "Well, at least it was worth it." He glances over the room until he spots Celestia. He points to her, "There," the Captain looks to Spitfire, leaning down slightly to nuzzle her before asking, "Ready?"
  7. Shimmer nods, stepping over to him and nuzzling him, "Yeah.. I'm fine... Are you alright?" Her breathing was partially labored. Whenever Deity took over time, it caused her heart rate to sky rocket, and made it partially difficult for her to breath. But other than that, she was fine."
  8. Shimmer remained silent, her brows furrowed. Frankly, she was confused. And worried. She knew about Deity's presence, but this was.. Strange. Carmus listened to the doctor speak. This was a lot to take in. He was now not only responsible for his well being, but Spitfire's as well. Their hearts.. Everything, was intwined. He looked into Spitfire's eyes for a few seconds before drawing her into a gentle hug, "We'll figure out a way, Spitfire." He whispered. Carmus could feel her heart beat against his chest.. Or was it his own heart? From this moment on, he would be able to feel her pain, and she feel his. He looks over to the doctor, "I feel it would be necessary to speak with Celestia about this... Is there anything more you can tell us?"
  9. Carmus listens as the doctor explains Spitfire's condition, nodding and speaking slowly, "I see.." He raised an eyebrow at the doctor when he mentioned having an idea, but followed him back into the room. Carmus gave Spitfire a small smile when they re-entered, as if to say, 'You're going to be fine'. He winced when she stood and began to walk to him on her own, and closed the distance between them himself. Carmus gave her one more reassuring smile before the spell was cast, and he lost consciousness. Like Spitfire, he witnessed flashes of his past. The moments he learned that he would be an older brother, the excitement he felt when he was told.. The sadness upon learning of his parent's death. Being taken under Jet-Stream's wing, along with his siblings. Learning of his family's history, gaining his own cutie mark, joining the Equestrian Air Guard. Every happy moment, every mistake. Every triumph and every regret. Carmus grunted upon wakening, glancing over at Spitfire before looking to the doctor, "30 minutes.. Felt like a lifetime," he muttered quietly before speaking normally, "What exactly did you find?"
  10. Carmus remains silent, standing a few feet away as the doctor examines Spitfire. When she went limp, he moved to stand next to the bed, the concern evident in his eyes, "What..?" He watches the magical energies swirling around her, though the concern returns when she comes to. Carmus takes a step back in surprise when the silver coloured magical energy snakes out from Spitfire and connected to him, before glancing to the doctor. He nods to the medical pony, "Of course." Carmus looks over to Spitfire, giving her mane a gentle nuzzle, careful not to cause he undue pain, before following the doctor out, "You have any idea what's going on? I've never seen anything like that before."
  11. Carmus nods to the doctor, stepping over to the bed and, with the help of the escort, transfers Spitfire from his back, onto it. He steps back slightly to allow the doctor room to work, but doesn't leave the room. Shimmer took a step towards Time after he was finished speaking, but doesn't say anything herself, merely watches him with awe.
  12. "I'm pretty curious about this whole business myself, Time." Shimmer says, moving to stand next to Twikight, tilting her head partially. Carmus nodded to the medic, allowing her to perform a diagnostic of Spitfire. He smiled. She was going to be alright. He walked partially alongside as Spitfire was led off to a medical bay. The Captain dashed over to her when she fell and cried out. He spoke to her in a gentle tone, "Easy there, sweetheart.. Take it slow." Carmus kneels slightly, gesturing to two of the guards to assist in getting her onto his back. When Spitfire was situated, he nodded to the guards and medic to continue, and followed them, using his wings to stabilize the mare he was carrying.
  13. "Doesn't make me any less jealous." Shimmer says quietly. Carmus stroked Spitfire's mane gently, tears still rolling slowly down his face. He looked at Celestia when he placed her hoof on him, a brief moment of reluctant defiance flashing across his eyes before he nods slowly, "Understood.." He releases Spitfire, but stays next to her, supporting her as she stood.
  14. (Dat backstory. Dat vision.) Carmus let out his breath in relief wen Spitfire came to, assisting Time in getting to her hooves, "I see you met the rest of the family then." He says, partially to himself. The Raptor Captain pulls Spitfire into a gentle embrace, finally letting the emotion he'd kept bottles inside out, "That was a heck of a thing you did.. It makes me proud.. Just, don't scare me like that again.." Shimmer raises an eyebrow in surprise, "Solstice.. Equinox.. You sole with them..? Huh, now I'm a little jealous."
  15. Denim nods, falling in behind Jack, "Alright then." "This is actually quite exciting.. I'm in the past, at least.. I think I am. I do have to keep an eye out for that Pegasus though.. It's not like he isn't kind of attractive, but if he does continue to try things, I'm going to have to discipline."
  16. (I think you meant Sentinels, instead of Raptors the Raptors weren't instated until a hundred years after Luna was banished.) They nod to Time, "Of course we are," Solstice began, "We did kind of die." Equinox ends. The Twins fell silent as Spitfire began to say her goodbyes, "Have a good life down there, y'here?" Velocity said, grinning. When Time began to power the spell to send them back to the living world, two ornate scales materialized besides the two Sentinels, who tipped them in the favour of a positive outcome, if only a minuscule amount. The siblings spoke in unison, "Spitfire, Time. You both will be joining with members of our line, before long. Go, with our blessing." Carmus watched in silent hope as Time's spell ended. The unicorn was alright, and he greatful, but he held his words until Spitfire came around. Shimmer stepped over to Time's side, kneeling beside him and pulling him into a gentle hug, whispering, "Glad to see you're alright... Did it work?"
  17. (Living World) Carmus remained silent, watching with hope from his place. Shimmer kept watch from outside the aura, silently praying that it would work. Jet-Stream and the Raptors scattered throughout the hall remained silent as well. (Caelum) Velocity remained silent, staring at the distance in the sky, through the window. When the arrival of Time occurred, he turned, looking down with mild surprise at the unicorn. He chuckled, "Well, this is new." He fell silent as Time began to speak. When Spitfire hugged him, he returned it, chuckling, "Warms my heart to hear that. I'll try, so long as you do the same for Carmus. Goodness knows he'll need it." He felt a little anxiety when he saw how close she was. He was about to voice his concern when two of the Sentinels stepped out of the halls. One, the mare, was a purple/blue as dark as the night sky, with eyes, mane and tail that mirrored the moon. The other, the stallion, was the stark opposite, a pure white, like the clouds, his eyes, mane and tail, a fiery hue, like the sun, not unlike Spitfire's own mane. "Solstice.. Equinox.." Velocity began, but the stallion, Solstice, raised a wing, silencing him. The white stallion looked at the group before him, "This is a risky business you are attempting, Time. Commendable." His voice was low, with a soothing nature. Equinox grinned from her position beside him, "Maybe we could give you a little help?" Her voice to, had a soothing nature, though was far more jovial. Solstice continued her sentence, "We could tip the scales, if only a little," Then Equinox picked it up immediately as he left off, "To give you a better chance," "But you must make haste. We were not given full permission to interfere." Velocity turns his gaze from his ancestors to Spitfire, catching her nod. He returned it, giving a small smile of his own. (Basically, Solstice and Equinox are twins, who are near polar opposites, as illustrated by their appearances. Solstice is the more serious and down to earth sibling, like Shimmer, while Equinox is more like Velocity with her antics and sense of humor. More on them: they were Discordian Era, leaders of a militia who withstood Discord's rule. They called themselves Sentinels then, as they were keeping an Overwatch of Equestria until the Princesses arrived. The reason they recognized Time is, one: they've been watching for a long time. And two(optional): (if I am not mistaken) he was Discordian Era as well. Whether they met him is unknown, but hey.)
  18. (Caelum) Velocity shook his head, "It's not over... Your time will continue, Spitfire." He looks back at the hall. Behind the barrier, though the open doors, was the Sentinel Line. Equinox, Solstice, his parents and brother, and countless others, all stood on either side of the hall. They weren't the Guardians of this place, but rather the Watchers of the Living, sometimes offering guidance in the form of visions, or tipping the scales of fate in the favour of some, of the Guardian's gave the permission. Other times simply, watching. A Sentinel's work was really, never done. Velocity glanced back at the sky, and smiled, "You'll get to pass this tale on. They have a plan," He lowers his gaze to Spitfire and Flashbomb, grinning, "You're not gonna be joining us at the table just yet." (Equestria) Carmus nods to Time, gently lying Spitfire down and standing up, standing to the right side of her, giving a prayer in a voice barely above a whisper, "Please... Let this work." Shimmer sighed slightly, "It was worth a shot.." She fell silent when Time outlined his plan. When he turned to her, stating he loved her, she smiled, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek, "I love you to, Time... Now make me proud."
  19. Carmus silently held Spitfire as the others conversed, stroking her mane gently. He glanced up when Time mentioned possibly being able to save her. Twilight explained how it couldn't work, and apologized to him. Carmus shook his head at her, "She made her choice. She cared for the ponies of Equestria, enough that she would die for them. As a soldier should." His voice was withdrawn. Shimmer looked over to Time, her mind racing, "Did you ever find out the properties of your mask? You saved me, twice, on your own. Perhaps... Your mask's property is a healing spell? Mine and Flash's were combat, Vel's was defense.. Do you think it's possible?" (Ethereal Realm, Halls of Caelum) "I can see why Carmus chose you." Velocity says, smiling. He looks into the swirling sky, seemingly just off into space, but in reality through a window into the living world, "You caused quite a stir down there with that little stunt, Spitfire. You're not fully dead yet, given your breath converting to life energy, but they don't know that." He looks back down at her, "This'll be a story to tell, huh?" (I imagine Caelum looking something like Sovngarde from the Elder Scrolls, what with the sky and the landscapes, but that's just me.) (Also, reason I have been so slow in responding recently is because I am down in Virginia Beaxh, and the only Internet access I have is my phone, hence my being slow, and lack of coloured text. I apologize, and will have access to a computer Saturday or Sunday)
  20. "Heck, Shimmer was in here before." Came, yet another, familiar voice, "Really was not expecting you here." Another form materialized through the barrier, taking the shape of Velocity, "Carmus can't be taking this well." He said, wryly. Folding his ethereal wings, the fallen Sentinel looked from Spitfire to Flashbomb, "How did this happen? A.. Shield, did you say? I'm struck with deja vu." He takes a few steps towards them, "Try taking a deep breath, that usually helps with the nerves."
  21. Denim had been barely listening to the conversation between the stallions, but she did hear Jack mention clothes. She glanced down at her scarf, and shrugged, "I... Guess? I suppose that would be kind of necessary."
  22. Carmus hardened his expression when the process started. He felt Spitfire tighten her grip on him, and in turn, he tightened his grip on her. When the simple discomfort gave way to a season pain, he grit his teeth, trying not to show the pain on his face. Veins all across his body were near solid from the pressure, and it showed. He heard Spitfire haltingly say she didn't want to lose him, and pull closer to him. He hugged her, "You're not.." Was all he managed to say. When Spitfire stepped away from him, as closer to the gem, he attempted to follow her, but his legs refused to move, no matter how much he tried. All he could manage was to watch as the pony he loved potentially sacrificed herself for all of them. Shimmer held into Time, her breath catching. She'd felt like this before, when she overworked her mask, but this was on an entirely different level. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't help but let her mind wander. Was this how Velocity had felt when he maintained his shield? Despite her best efforts, she couldn't stop the tears that began to form. Shimmer heard some ponies calling for Spitfire, and she opened her eyes to see the fiery named mare step towards the gem. She tried to call out to her, but her throat seized, prohibiting her from speaking. When the Gem's process ended, Carmus instantly began to try and make his legs listen to him. Without the pain, he managed, and he rushed to Spitfire's side. Time came over and turned her onto her back. She wasn't responding. Carmus laid down beside her, looking at her in silence. Despite his body screaming at him to cry, he wouldn't. He clung to the belief she would pull through. Shimmer stepped over to her brother, placing on his on his back. He glanced back at her shortly, before sighing and turning his attention back to Spitfire, "Come on... You can pull through this.. Don't let me lose you now." He whispered to her.
  23. Carmus looks into her eyes, and hugs her, "We won't. The gem should fill soon enough, and we won't have to worry about it anymore." He gave a look to Twilight that clearly read 'It'd better be full soon'. Shimmer smiles at him, "It's alright.. I'm here." She hugs him, "You just need to keep calm."
  24. Xukar watched the group as they prepared for the evening. The large zebra took off his cloak, setting it on the sand. He lays himself down on it, looking out in the distance. He didn't need, or necessarily want, a tent. He was more comfortable sleeping in the open anyway.
