  1. You know, I never even noticed all the Wonderbolts in that scene . . though there's Soarin' walking with a pie, and another Soarin' at the foreground table second from the right.

Nine unique Wonderbolts, huh? Okay, maybe *all* was a bit much, but I can see getting another 3-4 names canonized. That would bring to total up to what? Eight? Or maybe there's only ever an active roster of 6 pegasii at any one time, going by the flight team in the Sonic Rainboom episode.

Either way, December 15th isn't going to come fast enough.

  2. I wasn't along the path of the full eclipse this time, only a vaguely partial one for me, and right around sunset . . . the pictures I've seen of it are absolutely gorgeous! That one in the first post is kind of haunting with the annular ring visible through the cloudcover.

  3. Super Secret Tech? I'm in . . . .

References, you say? I've got a gallery here http://www.canterlot.com/gallery/album/77-immersas-sketchbook/

And some more over on the book of faces and whatnot, there's a couple different albums https://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/pages/Immersa-Designs/197204850323807?sk=photos

With enough time and effort, sketches are not so sketchy, but I'm not a competent digital artist in any fashion. Be prepared for good ol' pencil/ink and paper! ;)

  4. Hi, all. Just thought I would spread the word about a survey that has popped up, and this forum seemed like the best place to share (Mods/admins feel free to move if I'm wrong). Michelle Creber posted it on her facebook wall, as well.

For those wondering before the link is clicked:

Thank you for your interest in answering my questions about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (MLP). My name is Rebecca Hains, and my colleagues and I are doing research through Salem State University on MLP. In this project, we are studying the reasons why various audience members enjoy the show.

In this phase, we are particularly interested in hearing from adult audience members who identify as bronies or pegasisters.

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

When this research is complete, we will share the results with the MLP fan community.

Your participation in this project is completely voluntary. There are no right or wrong answers. All answers will remain completely anonymous; furthermore, your name will not be used in any reports written by the researcher. You do not have to answer any questions that may make you feel uncomfortable. There are no risks associated with this study.

This questionnaire mostly includes open-ended questions, asking you to type out answers for your responses. The more detail you can include, the better. Depending on the level of detail in your answers and how quickly you type, it may take about an hour for you to answer all of the questions on this form. I am grateful to you for any time you can spend on this project.

If you have any questions about this research, you may contact me at rhains [at] salemstate.edu. Note that this research project has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at Salem State. For concerns about your treatment as a research participant, please contact the IRB at 978-542-7556 or 978-542-7177, or irb [at] salemstate.edu. Their mailing address is also included below:

  5. So I decided that since I enjoy the sketching of Ponies, they need a place to play and be seen instead of being cloistered within the covers of my sketchbook.

I'll sneak something in from time to time, so if you like what you see . . . . . :D

  6. Saw it recently, the trailers looked intriguing and I've always been a fan of just about every Marvel movie in the last few years.

Cap is probably one of their best yet. I liked the story, and how most of the movie is actually a flashback sequence. I thought Hugo Weaving was spectacular as the Red Skull (even though I kept wanting to hear him say "Hello, Mr. Anderson."). There were little tie-ins all over the place, but I also agree they missed a nod to Wolverine that probably should have been in there (that's just being nitpicky) . . . Also, Peggy Carter was hotter than the Human Torch. I personally really liked her character, and the actress (name escapes me right now) was very easy on the eyes. :D

  7. I've played since 8th Edition and the first forays to the plane of Mirrodin, and am a regular at the comic shop where the tournaments are held. Recent months have even seen me assisting with running the Friday Night Magic weekly events, which is both fun and a bit of a headache at the same time . . . . It's all good though.

  8. I breezed through the rules section a couple times already, but third's the charm, right?

And I actually came from Equestria Daily for the contest. I've known about it for a couple weeks, but just had things come together in the last day or two.

And thanks both for the welcome!

  9. I realize this is rather last minute, but ideas didn't really come together until yesterday, so . . . .

    Parents: Princess Luna, Rainbow Dash

    Name: Aurora

    Sex: Filly

Age: School-aged, no cutie mark yet

    Species: Alicorn

Pelt Color: Dark blue, leaning toward indigo

Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Regal, elegant mane and tail, with striped colours of "faerie fire" (green/blue/violet) streaking through. Occasionally, random spiky tufts break free of the rest

Eye Color: Sparkling mithril silver, like full moonlight on a clear night

Cutie Mark: Aurora's Cutie Mark will eventually manifest itself as an amorphous blotch of dark violet colour, almost like a liquid splatter shape like the dark flank of her one mother Luna. However, there is an iridescence about it that makes it truly unique: At night, the dark violet will shine in the moonlight with the colours of a rainbow shimmering through.

[tab=30]Her natural talent to create spectacles similar in nature to what we know as Northern and Southern Lights is the reason for her cutie mark, though Aurora still has yet to fully understand and discover this talent of hers.

Motivation: Aurora has an underlying desire to show that Luna is as benevolent as Celestia, and is just as capable of great things, despite the Nightmare Moon fiasco years ago.

Likes: Night, colours, flying, naps in the shade

Dislikes: Bright lights (when she was younger), pessimism, her crown (it disrupts her aerodynamics while flying)

    Character Summary:

    How Aurora came to be:

[tab=30]After the first Grand Galloping Gala attended by Twilight and co., the formalities were loosened a bit at future galas. Allowing the guests more freedom, the G3 soon became one of the premiere parties of Equestria. Everything from games for the little colts and fillies, music and dancing, performances by various flight teams in Equestria, the G3 was a major event that nopony wanted to miss.

[tab=30]After finishing the opening stunts for the Wonderbolts, Rainbow Dash was cleaning up in the locker-stable near the Canterlot courtyard when she heard a soft voice praising her Sonic Rainboom. Dash turned to see none other than Princess Luna standing before her. This unexpected meeting led to a night of accompanying each other through all the events of the Gala. Dash stood with Luna as the princess spoke with notable dignitaries from other locations, Luna with Dash at the Wonderbolts meet-and-greet area. . . and even a private “after-party†in a royal chamber.

[tab=30]Dash an Luna kept in contact after that night, and became very close friends. One day, however, Dash received a summons from Princess Celestia that her presence was required in Canterlot immediately. Not bothering to tell the rest of her friends, she quickly made her way to the castle. Upon arrival, Dash noticed something was a little different. There was an extra place for somepony to sit. Fanfare came from outside a grand door, and in walked Princesses Celestia and Luna . . . with little Aurora close behind her mother’s hoofs. After a considerable discussion, Dash was admitted to the court of Canterlot, and little Aurora became next in line for the throne after Celestia and Luna.

[tab=30]As the filly alicorn grew, she spent a lot of time with both Dash and Luna. From trips across the countryside and racing through the clouds, to elegant dinners and spending time with all her “aunts†in Ponyville, Aurora was well looked after by just about everyone.

[tab=30]One night, when the family was staying in the cloud Rainbow Dash called home, Aurora woke to an odd dream. Without realizing it was a dream, she looked out her window and took flight to chase down a creature she thought had stolen her crown. As she started to dive toward the ground, she suddenly came to her senses as a bright light began to form around her. Her startled cry pierced the landscape, waking Dash and Luna from their slumber. Dash knew right away what the cry was, and before Luna could ask, a rainbow streak was already out the front door and diving. It was no trouble to spot the flailing filly; a shimmering trail of coloured lights could be seen heading toward the ground. Without breaking the sonic rainboom barrier, Dash caught her filly and brought Aurora back to the cloud where Luna waited anxiously.

    -----------------------------------------

[tab=30]Aurora shows traits from both her mothers. She can be exceptionally headstrong with a considerable streak of bravado, while also being capable of a composed, soft-spoken demeanour required of a future princess and ruler. She always tries to look on the positive side of things, find that metaphorical ‘silver lining’ in everything, which has led to her having an extremely optimistic attitude toward life in general. Catnaps in any cool, shady space are a specialty of hers, which can be connected to the abundance of energy she possesses. Her naps allow her to be almost fully alert at any time of the day.

[tab=30]She dislikes the constraints of royalty, which appeals to her wild side whenever she considers sneaking out for a flight by herself or spontaneous visits to all her friends and “aunties†in Ponyville. If the crown would fall to her, though, she would not shirk her duties to the Royal family.

[tab=30]Her night flights have become well known in Equestria. Though she hasn’t quite realized it yet, her special talent is creating what we humans refer to as aurora borealis and aurora australis, or the Northern and Southern Lights. When she reaches high speeds comparable to Dash’s Sonic Rainboom, she begins to radiate the particles and fields required to create those dazzling light shows, which first manifested when she fell that one night. Since then, she has come to terms with the terror those lights caused her, and with Twilight Sparkle’s tutelage has learned to harness that power for displays all around Equestria. At least once a year, every settlement receives their own light show for a night.
