  1. Hello there. Thank you for taking the time to review my application.

I have already read through that thread, of course, but did not see anything prohibiting expansions on the form.. Perhaps I missed that, and if so, please point it out to me! ;3 But if the goal is to have the application easy to read, I think it would be much better to keep information such as Strengths, Weaknessess, Fears, etc. seperate instead of lumping it all into one category. I don't want to prompt a 'tl;dr' sort of reaction from people. But if I must change it to be consistent with your standard, I certainly will. Just let me know.

As for the expansions on Cutie Mark and History, I understand what you mean, and I've made the changes. Please let me know if they are adequete.

    Roleplay Type: World of Equestria.

    Name: Papercut.

    Sex: Female.

    Age: Young mare.

    Species: Unicorn.

Eye colour: Green. Her magic is a light shade of the same colour.

Coat: Off white, like fresh blank parchment.

Mane/Tail: Light golden brown. Usually wears a headband to keep her mane back, and lets her long tail be loose.

Physique: On the tall side with a trim figure. Has excellent posture and, due to this, might trot with a floating or prancing sort of gait.

Residence: A small, very organized apartment in Canterlot. She has a large pet snake that lives there with her, though, to the horror of her neighbors he sometimes manages to escape.

Occupation: Student and Experimental Psychologist. She designs and performs experiments on for ponies.

Cutie Mark: A black lowercase Psi, the Greek letter used as a symbol for psychology. She earned her cutie mark at an older age, when her status as a blankflank was truly beginning to bother her. Papercut had so many interests that she dreaded thinking about the future, because she was so unsure of what she wanted to do, who she wanted to be. It was when she was living in Baltimare that she finally discovered her true talent, while briefly attending a private academy for unicorns. She and the other students were assigned a research project that determined whether they passed or failed. Papercut was terrified by one simple detail, that there was no specific topic, no direction as to what she needed to research. The pressure was sickening. All the possibilities were overwhelming, she couldn't decide, and she nearly quit out of the fear that she might fail. But a professor at the school gave her a new book to help inspire her, and she quickly fell in love with the subject: psychology. She intuitively made connections in the field, adored studying how the mind worked, and earned a perfect score on her project. For the first time, she was sure of what she was meant to do, and that's when the special symbol appeared on her flank.

History: When she was a filly, Papercut moved around quite a lot, living in a total of 13 homes before she even got her cutie mark. Her mother was a biologist who studied a variety of creatures all across Equestria, while her father was largely absent, working as an ambassador in other countries. The constant relocation was difficult - Papercut had trouble making friends, largely because she knew that in a matter of months she would have to tell them goodbye. Instead, the introverted filly turned to books, reading both for entertainment and knowledge. She was fascinated by how much information could be hiding in the pages. As time went on, her love for books grew, as did her skills with magic. Papercut became so talented at such a young age that she was invited to attend Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns in Canterlot. Unfortunately, her parents rejected the invitation, insisting that she stay close to her mother where she was safe as opposed to leaving for the capital by herself. This was devastating for Papercut, and she began to resent her parents, to hate relocating all the time, to wish she were one of the students in Canterlot who could do nothing but study all day if it pleased them. And while she understood and appreciated her parents’ desire to keep her safe, as soon as she was old enough, Papercut left home to further her studies at the school in Canterlot. There, she excelled. Her natural talent for psychology blossomed as she eagerly learned as much as she possibly could. The city is still new to her, and she is far from quenching her thirst for knowledge, but Papercut finally feels right at home.

Character Summary: Papercut is a unicorn with an iron will and a calculating mind. If she decides to do something, she does, often with great success as there are few things that don't come naturally to her. She values intelligence and knowledge, with a rich inner life of her own that often seems abstract, complex, or unusual to others. An expert on body language with a sharp tongue, she is incredibly persuasive when she wants to be, and often knows exactly what someone else wants.. Whether or not to give it to them is a different story; she's generous and enjoys making others happy, but won't compromise her own position to do it. And, though logic dictates the majority of her decisions, Papercut can't deny that she has a very strong intuition that gives her even more of an edge. It's rare for this combination of rationality and instinct to completely fail her. If it does, however, she is surprisingly open minded and willing to accept critique or the right answer when it presents itself. Her constant eagerness to improve overrides any personal sensitives, making it easy for her to separate her emotions from the task in order to do what needs done with ruthless precision and dedication.

Because she's so bright and intuitive, Papercut has a tendency to believe that she's always right. She may be too quick to dismiss the opinions of others once her mind is made up. Also, at times she can be a little narcissistic and overly confident. But these faults are things she's aware of, so she does actively try to avoid them. One 'flaw' that she's much less sure of how to handle is her highly logical - sometimes too logical - way of looking at things. She generally doesn't realize that she's done something insensitive until afterwards, when it's too late. Papercut is slow to become upset at all and may not even understand why somepony else is emotional, or worse, she might ignore their feelings completely. She often doesn't want to deal with them at all. Facts are facts, commitments are commitments, and emotions have no reason to interfere. She puts 100% of herself into whatever she does, and has similar expectations of others, which can cause her frustration as well.

Papercut's greatest fear is to fail at anything she has put a genuine effort into. She's easily startled, and hates loud, sudden noises, such as fireworks. Also, she tends to hold back a part of herself for fear of being judged by the few whose opinions really matter to her.

All things considered, Papercut is an intelligent, motivated, and creative pony with a rational viewpoint of the world. When she's in the right mood she can be really fun to hang out with, considering her quick wit, ability to tell what others need, and willingness to try almost anything. Her social faults can make her seem cold and aloof at first, but if you manage to get close to her she is an invaluable friend. Papercut never breaks her promises, abandons someone who needs her, or deviates from what she knows is right. The most true and important things in life are worth defending, no matter what.

  3. Aw man, it's been a whole year since I've studied Psychology.

I'm a bit of ashamed that I've forgotten as to what Carl Jung and (bah forgot his first name) Young contributed to society.

    I have an education of one Rainbow Dash. ^^;

Maybe if we talked about this subject last year, I could have feuded on anything you said. :) But alas...

Oh no I was just trying to make a pun or something (?), Carl Jung vs Adam Young (of the modern music world) haha. But don't worry about it! I'm certainly not an expert, though I hope to be a psychologist someday.

Mind my asking if you're in college or high school? I'm fresh out of high school myself, so the extent of my formal psychology education is an AP psychology course and two semesters of the standard psychology elective.. I'm so excited for college. I learned most of what I know via Google and the library before I even took the high school courses. xP

WELCOME! And please enjoy your stay at Canterlot!

    Thank you! <3

AIDS, and various interventions that could be implemented to help control the spread of it, especially among gay men. It's not terribly thrilling I'm afraid. I mean, finding the information is easy, but applying it? Not so much. :-/

The topic is interesting enough, one that I definately haven't read much into. I sympathize with you on the application.. Urgh, hard to write essays when the topic doesn't thrill you to pieces. D:

  4. Lolomg...

    How?

    HOW?

    *Drops dead jealous*

    D:

    *Does CPR*

You like it then? xD <33

Wow, your art is awesome! You might want to consider uploading it to the gallery so everyone on the site can see it!

    :3c

Ah thank you so much! <3 If I find the gallery, I might do just that. :'D

  5. Hi, welcome to Canterlot! We're always excited to have experienced roleplayers join our game! I love what I've seen from you so far, and I can't wait to see you post more around the site. :) Also, you enjoy psychology? :o

*Jane stares at her half-written health psychology essay rather woefully*

Thank you! Ah yes, I do enjoy psychology.. The mind and its inner workings are endlessly fascinating to me. I'm more interested in research psychology than applied, but it's all good. What exactly is your essay about?

    Hai thar~

You... you are probably one educated cookie, aren't you? ^^

Hello. Depends on your definition of educated, I suppose. ;3

  6. I am not a professional artist by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm wondering what others think of my MLP art, so.. Here's a couple of pictures I drew of my OCs. I drew Psi a month or two ago, and drew Zircon just today; I don't draw very often lately. :c

    Zircon:

    Psi (my ponysona <3):

..Tell me what you think? Be honest - I can take critizism just fine. I've hardly practiced the MLP style at all but I'd like to figure it out. xP

  7. Introductions aren’t really my thing, but I’ll give it a shot. x3

You can call me Ivi. I’m obviously new to this site, but certainly not to roleplaying - I love writing and I’ve been doing it for years. I also enjoy psychology, music composed by Adam Young, digital art, animals, video games, powerbocking, Ghibli movies, and astrophysics.. Simply put, I’m an INTJ type who’s proud of her geekiness and loves interacting with anyone who shares an interest.

And I don’t bite (often), so don’t be afraid to message me, even if it’s just to say hello! <3 I look forward to interacting with members both IC and OOC.

    Roleplay Type: World of Equestria.

    Name: Zircon.

    Sex: Male.

    Age: Older teen.

    Species: Dragon.

    Eye colour: Blue.

Scales: Aptly named, his sand-coloured hide glitters like golden zircon gemstones. He's quite handsome and knows it; those scales don't get so shiny by themselves. The leathery frills on his ears, tail, neck, and wings are all a muted shade of brown, while his eyes are brilliant crystal blue. His fiery breath is the same vivid colour.

Physique: Zircon is a Sky Dragon, rather lean, tall and athletically built with natural agility both on the ground and in the air. On all fours he is about twice the height of a pony. At first he seems older than he actually is because of his size, and he likes it, sometimes even walking upright on his hind legs instead of an all fours.

Residence: Officially lives in Manehattan, though, he is more often than not exploring the rest of Equestria.

    Occupation: Traveller.

History: Hatched by an elderly unicorn living by herself on the edge of Manehattan, Zircon’s early years were more like that of a young colt than a young dragon. The adoptive mother figure raised him that way quite intentionally, teaching him how to properly behave around ponies. He hardly even knew what a dragon was - and didn’t much care - until he first discovered hoarding. When he was about the size of a pony, his natural greed kicked in, and he began to steal and hide various things. It was innocent enough at first, little things like keys and candlesticks. The unicorn didn’t think it was anything to worry about, but it only got worse, and when he started stealing more valuable things such as jewelry and coins he was told to return all that he had taken and that he must stop stealing. But.. he didn’t want to. Angry, protective, and scared, he took his treasures and fled to the woods, where nopony would bother him. A few long days passed while Zircon was alone with the material goods, and he soon came to realize that none of the objects mattered when he couldn’t be around his friends. He returned to Manehattan apologetically, and, difficult as it was, returned the belongings to their rightful owners. To this day it’s an effort for him to resist his natural greedy tendencies, but he decided right then and there that keeping his sanity and his friends was far more important. Zircon happily stayed in Manehattan until he matured into an adolescent, at which point he set off to explore the world on his own. On occasion he still visits the city and the unicorn, however, he no longer enjoys staying in once place for long and simply loves the feeling of flying through an open sky and letting the wind take him where it may.

Character Summary: Zircon loves almost everyone, and almost everyone who gets to know him loves Zircon. He’s very accepting of others, and usually has an optimistic, enthusiastic attitude, believing that most creatures are generally good at their core. This is reflected in his love for making them happy, as he adores being the center of attention, talking to whoever will listen. Young ones especially enjoy his antics. He has a knack for storytelling, even if his energetic version of a tale is not exactly accurate. Most of the time, he’s acting just as much as he’s talking, and is a spontaneous risk-taker who loves having fun.

He absolutely hates structure and will do whatever he can to avoid being confined to any sort of routine. Planning things takes the fun out of them, so he’s not very good at thinking things through or giving thoughtful advice. But when he’s in a stressful situation Zircon ironically does just that, getting overwhelmed by all the bad possibilities until he manages to ignore them or fails to act at all. And he has an unfortunate habit of holding grudges against anyone who crosses him.

As a highly extroverted personality, the worst thing Zircon can imagine is being feared. He wants others to like his company as much as he likes theirs.

Overall, Zircon thrives when he’s in the spotlight, even though he often gets himself into trouble with his reckless, thrill seeking manner. He strives for close and meaningful friendships, and he genuinely cares about others. He may struggle with his greedy instincts but staying on the move and around friends helps keep that in check. As long as his wings are working you can be sure that Zircon will keep exploring, finding new relationships wherever he can as he makes the most out of almost any situation.
