(For this one just use your imagination, Ill describe the rest) Chuckles, " Yeap. One day I think it will." He hears her request and nods, "Actually, I just made some juice with it recently! But, I can demonstrate it with another batch..." he pulls a small bucket of grapes from a cuberd. They looked fresh, as if they were just picked. The bucket had a small spigot on it, so the juices would flow out from it when the grapes were crushed. He puts it under the small 4 pistons, each one roughly the size of a hoof, then turns and smiles warmly at the mare "Why dont you try it, press this button right here to get it squishen!"

(Sorry for the delay) Nods and heads for the closest invention, "Right. This is the stomper... the operater would put a fruit filled bascket under these pistons, press this button, and have the stomper stomp their fruit instead of farmers having to stomp them their selves when making grape juice or somethin'"

Nods and looks around, "You have no idea how hard all this stuff was hard to build without magic... but I like challenges." He turns and look at the awe strucken mare, silently taking pride, but outwardly appearing indifferent "Alright... So I wont be able to letya look at all of this... too much stuff. But I can show you some of it."

Rusty grins, "Nice throw there.." and trots out the door, forgetting to hold the door open for his friend. He leads her to the basement stairs, then turns to her "Eh... be a bit careful... these stairs aren't exactly up to code... might be a bit... steep. I've had my fair share of falls on these..." he begins to go down the stairs slowly and cautiously, each hoof step placed precisely.

Shakes his head, "Nuh-uh! I first wanna give you a tour of my basement, where I keep all of my inventions!" he its up out of his seat, and makes his way towards the door, "Heh, a pony hasn't been down there in years, other then myself of course!" he stands by the door when he reaches "Oh and uhm, can ya get my hat off the rack? Seems like I forgot it..."

Rusty nods, satisfied with what he hears "Well, colored me amazed! You seem to be the right fit for this position! Those were the two major jobs, the others were sketch and invention organization, where you well... organize my sketches and my machines! Don't worry, I'll help ya out with those, they can be tough. Oh wait, I also forgot secretary... but ah- I don't think you'll have ta worry about that, I don't get much in the ways of visitors..." he then listens to her hat story, and chuckles "Haha! I like ya, I like you a lot! You are real different from anypony that I've ever met! I think we will work well together!" he grins, "You are certainly a strange one, nopony has ever been able to bring out this side of me, not even my own family or... uhm..." he blanks out again, then shakes his head "Anyway, I'm not sure if I said it before, but ya got the job!" he extends his hoof.

Smiles warmly, simply stating "Keep that dream, always chase it." he froze for a second, shocked at what he just said. He is NEVER this nice to anypony, what the hay was going on? He than listens to her as she comments on the first work responsibility. He responds, waving a hoof dismisivly "You wont hafta worry about that, all of the jobs I got here are things that anypony can do. And I would ask about the telekinesis thing, but frankly I don't really... erm right, another job might be 'Invention resource gathering' and if you couldn't tell by the title, it's a job where you go out and collect parts I might need for my projects. You will most likely be going through the local scrap yard... they always have good stuff..." he mumbles off as he rubs his chin with a hoof, "And another one is... well... cooking..." he scratches the back of his head "Ya... ya don't have to do that one if ya don't want... now that Ah... I think about it, it was a pretty dumb thing to put on..." he eyes the mare carefully, seemingly examining her, but for what was only know to him "Anything you want to say at this point?"

Chuckles at the hat remark, "You know, I like ya. Not in a romantic kind of way, that'd be real weird considering our age diffences, but more of a 'this pony is very unique, and I like unique ponies!' kind of way. Most ponies i meet are boring, and I don't feel like wastin my time with them, they all feel the same. But you? You're somthin special... just can't put my...." his mind wanders for a moment, but then he gets back on track "Oh erm, the interview! Right... so let's get to the interview..." he pulls out a paper, "Let me first explain to you what those jobs were that you read.. on the flyer... or at least clarify some of them." he clears his throat, "Firstly, 'invention testing' you see, I have a lot of inventions/projects I am working on downstairs that require two ponies to use, and some that require one pony that I don't have time to experiment with. Thats where you come in, you can help me test, and collect results on how these inventions work... do you have any comments?"

Rusty hangs his hat up on a mini rack he had on a table, "My grandpa named me, after my mostly brownish look, and after his love of machinery.." he shifts a bit uncomfortably at the second question, but smiles after a moment "My mind is like that, never seems to be in one state for too long... seems like I'm always thinkin up new contraptions or machines..." he stares blankly for a moment, and then shakes his head "Here uhm..." he dusts off a seat that is infront of his desk "I'm not really... good with this whole polite thing... but take a seat, we will begin." he trots to other side of the desk, and sits himself.

nods, shaking the mares hoof, "Presteza, can't say I've every heard of a name like that! It's weird, but real nice soundin at the same time..." his mind wanders off for a moment, "Oh and uhm, yes I'm Mr. Contraption, but just call me Rusty... now if you would just uhm..." he looks around searchingly for a moment, "If you would just follow me to my office, we can begin the interview in there!" he begin to trot towards a room.

Rusty nods looking around, "Ehh... yes... a little bit..." he scratches the back of his head, and looks back at the mare "Just a blow torch I was using, nothing too..." he pauses for moment, his triain of thought seemingly being derailed, "Why don't you come in? It must be hot as cement on the hottest day in the summer out there!" he steps aside, trying to keep a polite composure.

Turns his head as he hears knocking on the door, looking upstairs "Huh? Oh, must be a pony responding to my flyer..." he sighed, and then noticed his welding torch was making a very strange sound. His eyes shot open "OH NO NOT AGAIN!" and throws the welding torch in the corner, yelling out "OH SWEET CELESTIA IT'S GONNA EX-" and then was assaulted with a large black smoke cloud as the torch exploded, staining his coat black. He coughed some smoke out, then sighed "Darn... second one this week...." he trotted up the stairs, grumbling swears under his breath, until he reached the door. He brushed himself off... mostly, fixed his worn tophat, and tried to put on a welcoming smile as he opened the door "Howdy pardner! I assume you're here because of the flier I sent out?" Rusty, appeared to be a near older stallion, he was a bit on the skinny side, but seemed mostly average body wise. He has a light brown-orangish coat with a brown messy mane and tail, and his voice was rich with a heavy southern accent to compliment it.

Rusty Contraption works in his shop/house, welding together some more parts for his latest machine in the basement. He mumbles to himself, "Am I really getting to this age? Where I can't do everything by myself anymore?..." he frowns, "No... I suppose I always needed an assistant... but I need one more then ever because of the huge work load I've made for myself. I... I just hate the idea of having an assistant, it feels like I'm saying that I'm not good enough, not independent enough, that I can't handle myself anymore, that I need to hire somepony just to keep things going..." he sighs. "But... I guess it was inevitable. It was going to happen eventually..." he flips down his welders mask and continues his project, taking his mind off the topic entirely as it wanders off again, as it often does. ((Also, is your avatar your OC? Little thing you should know, my OC lives in a frontier type setting, his house looks averege sized. On the inside it looks normal as well, until you go into the basement, which is huge.))

((So this is my first RP on these forums... so... yeah. Should be fun! Unfortunantly, I'm not used to thread-based RP, I'm more used to quick IM RP, so I might not be the best at this... but I'll try c:. Anyway, this RP may be limited to three other ponies, however I think it would be better if it was just one other pony, as in the end it will just work out like that anyway. I know what you mean, the episode where Rainbow Dash was in the hospital really threw me off. At first I just thought they had steam-punkish tech, but then in the hospital they had flashlights, ceiling lights, heart monitors, etc. The consistency is absolutely horrid. Anyway, I will make the change, thank you for helping me through this process.

I edited some things, thanks for the help! Man I wish I was on a computer right now, I hate how my application reads, but I don't really want to deal with the fuss this tablet gives me when I try to edit posts (it makes it take 5x longer then it should) so this'll have to do. Also, CC? I might consider it, I dunno. But I would rather see what I can create with this OC given the limits of the show Canon ((Which is surprisingly leanent. Flim and Flam's buggy? The floats for the parade in the Babs Seed episode?)). But again, I wont be creating anything crazy, like a duplicator, or a machine that makes you into a alicorn, or maybe a false horn that allows non-unicorn ponies to tab into there magic reserves. I'm talking maybe a strange form of Buggy, maybe a small airship.

Tail: Short and messy, barely qualifies as a tail. Mane/tail color: medium brown Physique: Average, a bit on the thinner side, wears a worn out top-hat Residence: Dodge Junction Occupation: Young inventor/repair pony Cutie Mark: A rusty screw overlayed on a light bulb Cutie Mark Story: When Rusty was a young pony, he looked up to this one inventor named Steamer. He had read about the many ingenious inventions he had made, such as the automatically opening door, and read about his ideas for future inventions. One day, Steamer was asked to give a presentation to the kids in Rusty's school, hoping maybe to inspire some young minds to also become inventors. Rusty was so excited, and was the first one to school that day, he was finally going to meet his idol. After the rest of the kids got there, Steamer showed up rolling in a strange contraption. It was an axe attached on top of a wooden stick, which was connected to a powerful looking motor. He called it the 'Auto Chop' and it allowed for ponies to chop trees without... well having to actually chop them down. He explained to the class how it worked (only Rusty seemed interested) and soon after demonstrated how it worked. However, when he tried to turn it on, it simple made a few sputtering sounds, and quit. He tried several more times, and the same thing happened. He looked it over hard, and seemed to not be able to find what the problem was. Rusty, after wait anxiously in his seat, resisting his urge to help, finally bolted out of it and ran up to the machine then looked over it slowly and carefully. After a moment, he found something off. And as if a lightbulb went off in his head, he grabbed a small screwdriver he kept in his satchel with his mouth, and screwed in a seemingly insignificant rusty screw that was loose on the machine, then turned it on. It began to work. Steamer congratulated him, and gave Rusty his tophat, and right after that Rusty got his cutie mark. History: Rusty Contraption was a strange pony when he was young. He often kept to himself, sketching new ideas for inventions in his sketch book, reading books on how gears/cogs work, or on how simple machinery work, etc. His obsession for all things machine-like came from his Grandfather, who would come over to the farm Rusty lived on with his parents to show him a new thing he had made. He would explain to Rusty how it worked, what it did,how long it took him to make it, etc. When his Grandfather noticed his love for machines, he began to bring Rusty books on the topic, books which Rusty still has to this day. Anyway, as a young colt, he hardly socialized, didn't have many friends, and mostly stayed in the house on the farm to work on his sketches and to build simple contraptions. When it came to school work, he would put all of his effort into it so he could finish it quickly while still getting an A, so he could get back to his inventions. His teenage years were especially awkward, mostly because he hardly participated in any normal activity his age group might do, still only obsessed with his contraptions and gizmos. However, he did make a few friends while in these years who shared a common interest; contraptions. He would often go to their houses after school and talk about/argue about new concepts for machines, or even pair up and work on a few of them. He grew very close to these friends, they felt like family to him. They helped each other get through their teenage years, supported each other when support was needed, they seemed to be insepretable. But, when they got old enough, one by one moved away from Dodge Junction, going their separate ways. His parents, whom Rusty called Ma and Pa (actually named Plower (father) and Planter(mother)) found their sons obsession strange, but fully supported it, seeing that it was the thing that made him happy in life. Soon after he became an adult, he moved away from his parents' farm, using the money his parents saved up for him all his life, and using the money he earned from doing small odd-jobs around town, and bought a humbly sized house with a not-so humbly sized basement. His parents gave him spare furniture they had, and he used some furniture from a near-by scrap-yard. All in all, he didn't have to buy a single piece of furniture. Some years later, he lives/works on his projects in the same place, using money he gets from doing odd-jobs to support himself. Character Summary: Rusty Contraption is a very eccentric pony who is full of nervous energy. He has a bad habit of not finishing his sentences, going off topic, and is generally a very spacey pony. He does not like holding long conversations with ponies, and usually only talks with a pony if it is in interest of one of his many projects. He tends to get annoyed rather easily, especially if he has to explain how to do something. He has very few friends, but he is often very happy when they come to visit, mostly because he would be excited to show them one of his new projects/concepts, and wants to hear their feedback on it. He is also very kind, and patient with these friends... in his unique eccentric way. Essentially, he is only kind to friends, and doesn't like dealing with strangers unless it is absolutely necessary. His likes are obviously machines, any book that has to do with machines, and old prototype machines. However, few ponies know his other likes, like how he likes Country and Classical music, or how he loves Blueberry Ice-cream (ONLY BLUEBERRY), or his secondary love in Physics. Some dislikes he has are; strangers (obviously), critics, ponies who take their time, ponies who break his things (obviously), liars, cats (more on that later), rain, Pears, heat, long lines, and when his projects don't work out. A fault he has is his impatience. He can't seem to wait for more then five seconds before getting fussy with some pony, which often frustrates situations and makes them take longer, which aggrivates him further. Because of his impatient, and rude nature when he is impatient, he doesn't have many friends in Dodge Junction. He also has a hard time socializing, something he has had issues with his whole life. However, instead of trying to work on them and socialize more, he is too busy working on new projects in his house, which causes his Anti-social behavior to slowly escalate. Rusty's motivation in life is quite simple: his machines. He lives to invent, he gets out of bed every morning just to work on a new project, he even goes out to do minimal socializing if it would mean getting more parts for his inventions. However, a bigger motivation he has is to change the world, build something that will change how Ponies live their lives, have something that he thought up in Equestria even after he is gone, even if someone else was to build it, and not him. Does he think this will happen? No, he doesn't, but he can always hope/dream. Finally, the cat thing? Well, it turns out that Rusty is deathly afraid of cats. He can't stand to be around them (like pears), and often will simply leaves the area without explanation to other ponies if one is present. Sometimes, he may actually go into a complete frozen shock, 'goat fainting' as some would say. He developed this fear when he wa a young colt, after he got attacked by two of his Auntie Moondrop's cats. The fear is so strong that he may even decline to go to someponies house if they have a cat, or if they previously owned a cat. Extra stuff: RP mods, you don't have to worry about this being OP. I'll keep everything in the limits of the show canon, or what it would realistically allow, and ask you guys if I'm not sure on something. (sorry if this post seems a bit empty in some areas, I typed this all on a tablet. I read this and know I can do much better, but I don't feel like putting in another hour to fix up somethings and to add more detail. All I might do is add some more history, and clean up some things. But nothing major.)

Thank you all for the warm welcome ^-^. So I've looked around on the forum... and it seems very RP oriented... which I like. So... can I just jump right into it? Like submit a charecter, wait for approval, then just go? Or do you think I should stay out of RP for a while and just lurk/look around on the forums?

Hey uhm... I'm TheHybrid, and I just wanted to introduce myself... (I'm never good with these things..). I've been a brony for nearly the entire length of the fandom, and plan to keep going until the very end. I've been on many different forums, became an RP mod on a few of them, so I've seen (and done) some weird stuff before (RP wise). Unfortunantly, I've been off the fandom for months because of RL obligations, and returned to see the RP on my favorite forum essentially dead, and I can't seem to find any other good forums, well until I found this one. I mostly joined this one because it had an RP, and a seemingly active one at that... so I guess I'll go check that out... anyway, gonna go now... because I don't really have anything else to say xD.
