Rainbow let her wonderful wife pull her in for a big old smooch. Her heart was full indeed! This was more than she could have ever asked for or dreamed of. She had the perfect wife, the perfect family, the perfect pretty much everything! She smiled after the smooch, wiping a little hint of a tear from the corner of one eye. RD glanced around, noting the Amby was loving her gifts and nomming away. Abby seemed plenty happy with her gift and Rainbow really hoped it made her feel like the grown up mare she was becoming! She could tell by reactions all around the room that her presents had been a hit! 

"Yep, Ah think you knocked it right outta tha park this year, RD," 

Rainbow smiled again and looked lovingly at AJ. "Only the best for the best family ever!" She spoke softly, loving every moment of this. 

Her 'last minute details' as she'd so eloquently put it were done at the cabin and she'd started her way to the Imperial city's out lands with a spring in her step and a full heart! It had had been  a while since their arduous trek across the frozen lands and Glitter's eye had healed. She could see through it, not totally clearly, and it had changed to a glassy color, but it didn't hurt her anymore. In fact so much of what used to hurt her had been lifted. Glitter felt like a new mare through and through! There were of course scars, on her face and in her heart but they were of little matter considering how much better she felt!

She thought perhaps Tempest was feeling that way too. Temy had had lots of time both with Glitter's company and alone to heal and grow strong. She knew the mare of her heart was healing! Temy had invited her guests, and set up planned, and thrown her own birthday party! Glitter could have helped but she had decided it would be better for Temy to do this on her own. It was the way Temest had wanted it anyway, and there was no changing things once she'd made up her mind!

Glitter started through the field towards the sounds of metal music and the smell of a bonfire beginning to burn. She had full saddle bags on her back which she levitated off to set on a bench when she arrived. There were two guests there already! So much for a few minutes of alone time with her special mare. She smiled, there would be time for that later! She smiled broadly and trotted up to Temy. She raised a brow as she neared and slowed to a stop. 

"You don't need to dress fancy to look hot do yah?" She spoke quietly and chuckled under her breath. Then she trotted up and planted a kiss on Tempest's nose. "Happy birthday Temy!" 

After this she glanced at the others. Ice Storm and... Shining Armor! So far the guests were pretty powerful ponies! Seemed fitting, they were guests of Tempest after all!

"Hello Ice Storm!" She greeted the mare. Then she inclined her head just a touch. "Shining Armor! Welcome!" She smiled to them both. "So glad you both could come to the party!"

She didn't introduce herself, figuring that Temy would want to do that. 

Glitter heard the gurgling of the stream as they neared it. She lifted her head a little and shushed Koda. They didn't need to draw any attention to themselves. Who knew what else could be lurking out here... things they certainly didn't need to contend with! She glanced over the scene, her mind working try to figure out a workable solution. 

"Close your eyes." 

Tempest told her and the mare complied, not asking why. She didn't need to and she realized with that simple move how much she really did trust Temy. Enough for her to do something just at the asking and with no thought of asking why. With her eyes closed, she used her other senses to figure her way through what was happening. There was that unmistakable crackle. The use of the broken horn. It grated in her ears, with the knowledge of her part in it but still there was some confidence. Temy could wield magic with it nonetheless. Burning, cracking, smoking. She could sense that Koda was moving away from the sudden chaos. it was a good choice for him. If she hadn't totally trusted the unicorn she would have done the same. 

After a few more seconds she was bid to open her eyes and stayed where she was as she was carried across the newly formed bridge. She glanced down at the cracked and splintered remains of the tree as they made their way safely across. Tempest's magic was still strong and she knew the slow mending of her heart would only make her that much more powerful eventually.

With Koda now following at their heels the pressed on through the snow drifts. It felt like hours and her head had begun to throb. She tried to rest it up as high as she could on Temy's neck, to keep it from pounding as best she could. Then, much later she lifted her head.

"I know this trail. We're nearly there!" 

It was a relief for certain! Her cabin was only a few minutes trot away now!

Rainbow glanced at AJ and raised a brow.

"Weeeeellll, I guess we can open presents tonight since you've been such good little fillies and colts this year!" It was of course planned that opening presents would happen tonight! Lots of families had their own Hearth's Warming tradition that were much more odd than opening gifts the night before. She thought about the Pie family for a moment. Pinkie was probably right in the middle of the oddities right now. But what was one pony's oddity was another pony's beloved traditions! Rainbow had learned much about finding the value in others over the past years and she'd grown a ton!

Rainbow went to her bags and pulled out some specials boxes and packages. She placed them in front of each pony in the room that she loved. Then she sat back, sipping on some super delicious cider to watch their responses to her gifts.

Abby was getting a fancy bits pouch with a fair sum of coins inside. She was a young mare now and would probably love being able to pick out her own gifts. Also there was a small framed picture of the whole family for her to set somewhere special.

Ammy was getting a special soft apple flavored teething toy. It was shaped like an apple pie and everything! Yummy! She also got a sweet little super soft onesie with shooting stars and moons on it.

AJ, the love of Rainbow's life. She'd had to think long and hard on this one! Family was AJ's first and foremost so RD had thought on that route. She'd spoken with Granny Smith and had been able to rustle up some very old photos that even AJ hadn't seen! RD had arranged them in a lovely and rustic album. There was lots of room to add new images of their family after the super old ones. RD had even added some recent ones of them. 

Zappers!  It was a small package and inside was a collar. Not a large one but more puppy size. RD had asked AJ and they had decided he was old enough to start learning responsibility. It was the right time in his life for a furry friend of his own. Rainbow opened the carrier she had carefully hidden on the way in. Out came a puppy! Of course the whole family would e joy having a pup around but it would belong to Zap!

RD waited to see how they would like their gifts!

Rainbow honed her dive out of sky to head straight for a warm sort of light in front of her. As she neared the farm house the pegasus lofted for a moment, savoring everything wonderful that was happening in her life.

She had the most wonderful wife, the best son a pony could ask for, aaaand the cutest (if not a little princess-y) daughter in all of Equestria! 

The pegasus had undergone some transformation over the past months. A transformation of her mind more than anything else. She could think more clearly now and see  further beyond her own thoughts and desires than she ever had before. It helped. It helped her and more importantly it helped the love of her life.

"Thank Celestia you turned it around Dash." Her heart pained a little at all the sludge she had taken AJ through in their relationship. But after a few sound kicks in the rear and some honest to goodness truth that hurt way more than any kick, RD had straightened herself out!

She had saddle bags on her back and as she landed at the door she reached back and gripped the bags lightly in her muzzle. Sje was careful for sure, there was something important inside after all She! She pressed the door open, meeting a rush a warm air that melted the cold of the night right off her. 

"Is that cinnamon cider I smell?" She called out as she trotted into the family room. 

There they all were. Her heart melted just like the light dusting of snow off her mane when she'd entered the house. Dash dropped the saddle bags softly by the tree and went to her wife.

"Hey beautiful." She spoke softly, her eyes shining as she gave AJ a gentle kiss on the cheek. Then she looked down at Amby and smiled, her hoof lightly touching the foal's mane.

"Where's my main man?" She glanced over to Zap. "There he is! How's the cider Zappers? You having a fun night so far?"

She picked up her steaming mug and took a sip. "Who else are we expecting AJ?"

Pinkie bounded down the road, the spring very much still in her step. Even after all the dangers and adventures of this year's ROTL she still had energy without bounds! Nothing, it seemed, could keep the number one party pony down!

Gummy clung doggedly on, his purple eyes unblinking and fixed on that sweet sweet finish line. Once they crossed it he could get back to his kitchen. The gator had plans to make some brownies later today. 

"Aw! Its almost over!" She frowned largely, but then flipped it back to a grin. "At least new friends were made!" She spoke fondly of Copper. Even though they'd only had a few words, Pinkie of course had him checked off her friend list!

She waved left and right, calling hellos to everypony she could meet eyes with! 

"Hee hee!!!" She loved this! The finish line was just another in her long lines of parties!

Pinkie bounced her way into the woods. Leaves were falling from the trees thanks to all those pounding hooves up ahead of her! One particular leaf caught on the head of a certain gator as the Pink bounded on. 

"Nice hat you got there guy?" She giggled as the gator dangled on her mane to a level where she could see him. "Looking really festive!"

The gator just hung there by his claws until the leaf blew off and he sprung himself back up onto the top of the pony's poofy head.

"Hang on gummy...we got...a sticky situation up ahead!"

Pinkie started trying to avoid puddles of sap. It was flowing from some of the trees and was making the trail a little less than easy to follow...

Would she get stuck? Time would tell...

I think you're doing great! Always happy to have another active RPer around here you've chosen a character that needs a special kind of writing and you're handling that well! Keep it up sugarcube! 

And just like that, the time had finally come! When the nurse gave RD the news the mare felt her stomach drop. She gulped, hardly knowing what to do with her emotions. Then she shook her head, clearing her thoughts. This was a new Rainbow Dash, a supportive and caring wife. This was the time to be there for her mare! Into the room she went and by AJ's side she stood as the delivery reached its conclusion. The filly was born and the doctor turned to swaddle her and clean her before RD had gotten a good look. 

"She'll be right here AJ. Just another minute." She patted the mare's hoof softly. 

And then Ambrosia was in AJ's arms. A sweet little bundle of joy with...a...horn! A horn! A unicorn! RD leaned in, peering closely at the tiny point protruding from her daughter's forehead.

"Wow." She leaned in closer, until she was resting her chin lightly next to Ammy. The pegasus' eyes fluttered and then closed for a moment. Then a longer moment until she had dozed off next to her daughter and her wife. 

She wasn't sure how long she stayed like that. It was warm and peaceful and perfect. When she did wake RD quietly walked out into the waiting room, looking for Zappers.

"Hey there little guy. Want to meet your sister?" She spoke quietly to him. She would of course invite the others in when AJ was ready. But not now. Now was a time for just the three of them. 

Pinkie changed her disco gallop to her signature bounce when she got up next to Copper. The Pink giggled furiously and nodded along with the dance music beat that was coming from...Celestia knew where! He asked where all her lights were powered from and she let out another laugh.

"Hee hee! Wouldn't you like to know! That's a Pinkie secret pal!" She bounced on, lights blinking and disco ball glittering. She wasn't about to give up her trade secrets!

The music changed, the tempo increasing a bit. "Oh! This is a great beat to gallop to! Come on Copper!" She took off, running like mad down the trail. "So uh, where have all the other racers gotten to?" Hopefully they weren't right ahead of her, at this pace that might actually be a train wreck!

(Through those scary woods!)

At first Pinkie had blanched at the dark and scary underground forest. Buuuuut, then she had to giggle. If anypony could bring a party to such a place it was her! 

"Gummy!" The gator blinked and looked down at her. "Get the party lights!"

She galloped on with the gator doing no such thing. He still clung to her poofy mane but made no move after any lights. "Now come on Gummers! Do be a stick in the mud!" She giggled. "Or a gator stuck in the mud?" She thought back to him trying to bake some cakes last week. "Actually more like a gator stuck in the batter! At least that's what happened to you last week remember?" She poked him with a hoof. "Remember?" She grinned and fished around in her mane, withdrawing a string of blinking lights from well, from nowhere! Totally Pinkie style!

"At least there will be enough light that I don't trip!" She held up for a moment in front of the area where the path descended into darkness. 

"Here yah go!" She tossed some lights around Gummy and then carefully hung a tiny disco ball from the tip of her forelocks. Sparkling light bounced off rocks and trees, generally making things a little less spooky. 

"We better get racing!" Gummy started nodding and upbeat party music started the play. 

"Here we come!" 

She ran on for a while until she spotted the stallion up ahead. Pinkie smiled and called out to him. "Copper! Hey buddy! Here comes the party!"

The Pink rumbled down the path, flashing lights, disco sparkles, and party music blaring. She was a Pink train wreck waiting to happen! PARTY!

She zigged and zagged along the path, narrowly missing literal tons of rock. It rumbled and roarer in her ears and the dust was making it slightly difficult to see where she was going...this was soooome race! Pinkie kept on galloping and now that Copper had responded to her attempts to chat she was thrilled! Nothing better than meeting a new pony no matter where the location...right?

Pinkie grinned, right!

"Rocky at the moment!" She laughed. "That's a good one!"

As she was about to share her name with him the stallion side checked her. "Ow!" She was about to say more but then that darned old jagged rock pinned itself to the trail. It was almost a Pinkie-ka-bob!

"Thanks Copper!" She galloped on. "Anytime's a good time to make a friend!" Pinkie bounced over another falling boulder. "Gummy and I owe you one! Oh I'm Pinkie Pie by the way, and this-" She pointed to the small gator clinging to her mane. "This is Gummy the gator!"

(going through the rock slide!)

"Well, this is a nice change of scenery!" The Pink One exclaimed as she made her way into the ravine. She could smell the pine trees and her eyes drifted up up up at the tall rocking cliffs all around! "Wow! I know we run the same route pretty much every time but the views around here never cease to amaze!" She allowed the gator who was clinging to her forelocks to lean out for a better look. 

"Be careful there!" She had started zigging and zagging, climbing further into the ravine. The drop on both sides of the trail would make most ponies dizzy! "I don't want to have to go searching for the Gummy who fell down the hill!" The gator blinked and backed up a step. 

As she carried on she heard that certain rumbling of rocks that made her a little weak in the knees. "Oh boy, looks like a rock show!" She giggled. "Maybe it's a rock party?" There was that grating sound again, rock sliding on rock slowing beginning to edge over the trail. That would bring an... "Avalanche!"

She was going to go and hide. She really was! But then there was that pony up ahead. Copper right? Yeah! He'd tried to talk to her at the end of the last leg of the race. She'd gotten so tied up watching Abby and Zappers put on a great shoe that she had forgot to respond. That was careless of her! She never wanted to rob a pony of sharing a smile!

Pinkie waved her hooves and called out as she cantered right into the area where rocks were starting to fall. "Hey there! Yoohoo! Copper!" She cantered up near him amid the falling rocks. "Hi! Sorry I couldn't talk before. So," She grinned, a rock sliding right behind her. "How's the race going?" 

Casual conversation during a rock slide? Yup, standard play for the Ponk!

Sorry to everyone I haven't gotten to on here!

The Pink bounced on! This was some race and a few of the competitors seemed to be taking it with all seriousness. Pinkie could be serious, no really! She could! If she had to, if her life depended on it or the life of one of her friends. Yep, that was about the only thing that could get the party mare to rein in and really turn on the serious. What was the fun of it really? Pinkie was no dummy, she'd proved that time and again, but she didn't want to waste her life without a genuine smile whenever there was time for it. 

The breeze blew warmly and she enjoyed her trip across the glade. She was keeping the others in her sights and if she had chosen to go all out she'd be right among them but hey! Why not enjoy a little time in the beautiful countryside with her best gator?

"I hope you're enjoying this part of the race Gummy! Sure beats the uh, incident with the bridge?" She grimaced and smiled when all the gator did was blink. 

"You know you're my best gator right?" She beamed happily and made her way through the rest of the glade...there was lots more race to come!

The warm sun beamed down on the Pink and her intrepid gator as they bounced their way down the path. There was a slight breeze and Pinkie found herself wanting to stop and whip a picnic out of nowhere. But no, she was in a race! She glanced around. There were ponies here and there though most not in view. Then she spied a cloud of dust coming closer and closer to her. 

"Woowee! Gang way everypony! Somepony's going all out through here!" The thunder of hooves sounded in her ears and she moved to the side of the trail so as not to be run over!

And who should be coming down the path? It was Abby! The filly was galloping about as fast as Pinkie had ever seen a filly gallop! She was certainly of Apple blood! The only family with speed to compare would have to be Rainbow Dash's! "Wow! Way to go Abby!" Pinkie couldn't help but exclaim as the filly came running by. She waved and Abby didn't slow, whipping Pinkie around in circles and leaving her in dust and falling leaves.

"Whew Gummy! These ponies are super serious about this!" The gator blinked.

"Here comes somepony else!" A smaller could of dust was coming up fast! It was Zappers! Pinkie stayed where she was and cheered the young colt on! "Go go go! Run Zappers, you're doing great!"

After a little time Pinkie continued her bounding pace, keeping her right on the heels of the other races without looking winded at all!

Rainbow had been back and forth from AJ's room several time s over the past few hours. Each trip she tried to do something to help AJ is some small way. A pillow fluff, a glass of water, whatever she could think of. She wanted to make sure AJ knew she was there, that she was supportive, that she was strong for both of them! She was de termined to do this right. The whole thing! Basically the rest of her life with AJ. She was gonna be a changed pony! Of course she wouldn't get it right all the way, but she would try!

She had checked in a Abby and Zappers even though she knew Big Mac was there to take care of them. She'd checked in with nurses when she saw them until they started to avoid her to get out of answering the same questions again and again. Rainbow knew somewhere in the back of her mind that she was tired but there was no way she was gonna act on that. Not with AJ going through such a painful time. She wished there was something she could do to take the pain away. That wasn't gonna happen. She just had to wait for their daughter to make her appearance!

After a while a certain tall broke horned  unicorn appeared on the scene. At first Rainbow couldn't figure out why Tempest had come to support them until she realized it was just that. Tempest was there to support them. They had become something of friends since the unicorn and her mare had begun frequenting Ponyville. There was something about Tempest that Rainbow had always liked. If anypony was a pillar of strength it was Tempest. The mare pushed up from her chair and took a step towards Tempest.

“Dash, how’s she looking? Is she doing ok?”

"Hey Tempest," She glanced back at AJ through the door. "She's uh, yah! She's doin' just fine. This one is just a little more difficult than the last one." She managed a weak smile. She knew AJ was strong enough to handle this but she wished it wasn't so painful for her. "AJ's strong, she and Ammy will be just fine!" She smiled again, this time a little stronger. "Thanks for coming."

Then Moonlight appeared. Rainbow relaxed a little at the sight of her. Moonlight was always a breath of fresh air. She was the freshest pony around after all! Totally! Fer sure! She smiled.

"Actually yeah, a glass of water would be good!" She was going to walk out into the waiting room but glanced back at AJ. "Could you uh, bring it in the room?" She didn't really want to be gone from her mare's side. 

"Now this is more like it!" Pinkie squealed with delight as she bounced into the glade. "It's so sunny here, and warm, and nice!" She wrung out the last bit of damp from her poofy mane and it sprung back it it's puffy place.

"This would be a great place for Fluttershy's next birthday!"  Bounce, bounce, bounce, down the dirt path leading through the idyllic scene. There were birds, and squirrels, and deer oh my! "Oh my gosh!" Pinkie planted her hooves on the path and started frantically sorting through her mane and then her tail. "Where, where, where? Ah!" She pulled her hoof out of her tail with a certain gator attached at the end.

"Hey there Gummy! All the crazy of that stream back there made me totally forget you were along for the ride!" She held the gator out in front of her and grinned. "You're not made at me are you little guy?"

The gator was still for a moment and then blinked his purple eyes in succession. 

"Whew! Thank goodness you're not mad! I don't know what I'd do if my favorite little gator in the whole wide world was upset with me!"

Pinkie got up and bounced on. She glanced over her shoulder. "I wonder where Abby and Zappers got to?" The mare slowed her bounce, hoping the two younger ponies would catch up to her. Sure this was supposed to be a race, but that wasn't very fun without your friends by your side!
