Name: Kite Sex: Female Age: Filly Species: Pegasus Pelt colour: Light Cream Mane/Tail/Markings colour & Style: Medium length and straight (akin to Pinkie Pie's before it poofed) brown mane and tail. No additional markings. Eye colour: Green Cutie Mark: A silver, shiny looking, three-point kite shield (usually concealed under and mistaken as two crossed over bandages - a result of constantly jumping in the line of fire) Physique: Slender, average height and in good physical condition, though usually covered in several scuffs, bandages and bruises. Is usually seen wearing her armor though, which gives her a bulky and stockier appearance. Origin: Canterlot Roleplay Type: Mane Occupation: Travelling Squire Motivation: Kite believes that her shield cutie mark (earned when she pushed her brother out of the way of a falling suit of armor and took the hit for him) means that she is supposed to be a knight, when in reality it symbolizes her desire to protect others, just one part of what makes a knight. As a result, her main motivation is to become a knight, despite her lacking the other qualities that make up a knight. Likes: Knights, Legends, Breezy weather, Blueberries, Books Dislikes: Large Crowds, Extreme Weather (too hot, her armor is boiling, too cold, freezing! And a suit of metal during a lightning storm?), Fully Grown Dragons Character Summary: Kite grew up in Canterlot, idolizing her father who was one of Celestia's Royal knights, and desiring to become a knight herself. She spent much of the time in the shadow of her older brother, a Pegasus named Buckler also desiring Knighthood, though much better suited to the task. The two always competed during their quests to become knights, with Buckler always coming out on top; he soon earned a chance to become a Knight Apprentice, while Kite did not. This in part led to Kite's very low self esteem. Despite this however, Kite still loved her brother, and while on a tour of Buckler's knight training grounds, Kite pushed her brother out of the way of a falling suit of armor, taking the brunt of the damage in his stead. This would earn Kite her Cutie Mark, a silver kite shield, and renew her hope in becoming a Knight. Kite would take the Knight apprentice exam 3 more times following this incident, and despite her efforts and desire to protect, she failed each time, lacking other fundamental aspects of being a knight. Despite the failures, Kite remained entirely convinced her Cutie Mark was proof that she was destined to be a knight, though at this point the repeated failures had done a number on her self esteem. Deciding to leave her home and failed training behind, Kite now wears a suit of beat-up grey heavy armor, and travels around trying to perform knightly deeds in the hopes of someday becoming a Royal Knight. It should be noted, that squires do not wear Knight armor, and so Kite's suit of armor is actually stolen, something she regrets having to do, but justifies by telling herself that it would do more good on her than gathering dust in an armory. As a result of this action, however, Kite cannot return to Canterlot, as she has been branded a thief. She now finds herself hunted as an armor thief, training deserter, and missing fillie; being caught and brought back to Canterlot would likely mean the end of her dreams of knighthood. Kite is a loyal and durable pony, eager to help and protect. She suffers from a low self esteem from her repeated failures at becoming a knight, but truly shines when she gets a chance to protect others. Unfortunately, the only way Kite has learned to do this is by putting herself between those she protects, and the danger; this is how she validates herself, since it is how she earned her cutie mark. Strangely enough, however, this is the only time Kite truly breaks out from her lack of self esteem, for example bragging about how a fireball barely dinged her armor, despite the damage it may have done to her. She's not a fighter, but Kite will take hit after hit, armor or not, if it means protecting others. Like all Pegasus ponies, she can fly and stand on clouds, though her heavy armor sometimes makes this difficult. She is very proud of the "Kite Cannonball", a technique she created of flying up high, curling into a ball, and crashing down as a heavily armored cannonball.
