to answer your question; it really depends on you since forcing you to conform to a particular writing style will just make it seem more like work.

IMO a RP post should have the following:

Point 1

-Some introspection, internal dialogue or revealed past backstory of your character (not really required but helps to fluff posts)

Point 2

-Acknowledgment of what has gone on before, such as responding when addressed or rehashing information (such as the setting or scene information).

A good example of these 2 could be your character walking into a messy place, he/she can note that the place looks like a disaster (point 2) followed by musing on how it looks like his/her room when he/she was a colt/filly and how his/her parents usually gave him/her grief (Point 1)

Point 3

The last step is to do something that other character(s) can use for their Point 2s, examples can be:

-your character addressing someone or the crowd in general

-your character performing some action

-some game world occurrence or new plot development that other characters can use to advance the plot

how you present these 3 points is up to you.

hope that helps :)

(ps since you are participating in ROTL it's a good starting ground since the RPs are short)

2. Storm Hammer had been lost in his own thoughts, more focused on lunch when the explosion caught him off guard, causing him to momentarily lose his grip on his sandwich and he had to comically scrabble to keep it from getting away from him.

Recomposing himself, he switched on his communicator.

"Storm Hammer to team, you guys heard that explosion? it's about a couple of kilometers Northwards, going in closer"

3. I'd recommend something from the movies, maybe the

or
from Gladiator. Those who have watched the movies will instantly understand and it should invoke the desired outcome in those who haven't.

by Paul Stanley technically qualifies as metal, but the lyrics are quite audible

or for yucks you can try the song

4. Costume: None, wearing her brown/gray traveling cloak with hood

Telki was in a really foul mood tonight; she had seen her stash of candy grow to 2 pieces then dwindle down to 0, back to square one.

Perhaps this was the best time to visit the Changeling Lair, billed as the creepiest Nightmare Night attraction of all.

As Telki moved deeper into the cave, she felt a strong sense of ambivalence towards nearly everything. The odd statues in the center of the cave couldn't faze her. She even had it within herself to make a face at one of the more grotesque statues and to aim a (thankfully naturally weak) kick at a statue that she deemed particularly mocking.

Post-EQLA, I've realized that there are some things I simply need to be dedicated to over other things, and one of those other things is this site. I love teh RPs, and I love ya'll, and I've made a few friendships here and there, but updating this site is a serious task for me (2~ hours a day at worst), and there's just some stuff I really need to attend to in real life lest I fail as a person.

So I'm going to declare a hiatus, as of now indefinite. I'm involved in quite a bit as is, and I'm so sorry to all the members of this site I'm cutting short by up and leaving like this. I think I'll be gone for at least another month, long enough for all the RP I'm involved in to either die or move on without me. I'll try to come back as soon as I feel I've done what I needed to do IRL. It's been fun guys.

probably should get a sub just in case, he hasn't posted in our thread for quite a while

6. She was trying to be good really! But Karma works in strange ways...

Telki had managed to avoid doing anything naughty with regards to scaring anypony, but apparently the universe had other things in mind and Telki soon came face to face with Nightmare Moon herself.

Despite her severe height disadvantage, overall inability to cast anything to protect herself and every instinct screaming at her to turn tail and flee, Telki stood her ground, trying to appear brave in the face of one of the most powerful antagonists in Equestria.

With a cackle, Nightmare Moon disappeared and Telki felt her candy pouch suddenly go limp, opening it she realized that her last candy was gone!

"ARGGGGGG! This isn't fair" she yelled at the starry sky.

7. Costume: None, wearing her brown/gray traveling cloak with hood

After the shenanigans she pulled off at the Tartarus House, Telki felt that perhaps somewhere more peaceful and quiet was in order, somewhere she wouldn't be tempted to prank anypony.

Strolling cheerily along the lighted path, her hoofalls only periodically broken by the sounds of giggling and chattering foals, which she assumed were nearby. This time, her willpower won out and she resisted all urges to go crashing through the undergrowth, probably while yelling something about tasty foals for supper.

"Maybe nothing will happen today...hopefully" she thought to herself as she neared the castle gates

8. Costume: Wearing his Shadowbolts uniform

He had the good fortune to avoid the Changeling invasion of Canterlot, in addition, having lived in the Everfree Forest for a bit, Lightwind was perhaps best suited to be unfazed by a place such as this.

Having met Iron Will not once but twice; Lightwind felt that perhaps he could survive what the Changling lair had to offer; after all, whats the worst that could happen...really?

Strolling in, he came across a room full of statues pulling what seemed to him like funny faces. Stopping so often to gaze over the odd statue, he slowly began to realize that he wasn't alone.

Like him, coming in from the opposite direction, came a red unicorn filly, and she appeared apprehensive as she made her way through the lair.

Perhaps it was just Lightwind being Lightwind, or that the filly seemed nervy, but Lightwind had no desire to interact with or make his presence known to her (he probably would have to put on some Shadowbolt bravado)

Finding a spot between 2 statues, he quickly put on a mean, intimidating, badflank pose (how would Nightshade do it, he wondered) and stayed as still as he could, hoping that the filly would pass by quickly
