[Ponyville] Thunderstruck~ [private]

Paradise lazily floated along the currents above ponyville, weather patrol was so boring at times. No wonder her boss was always found taking a nap. She cleared a few white clouds from the sky as she was ordered, making way for a rainstorm that the cloud factory was cooking up. She flicked up her ears, an audible echoing across the land, looked like the storm was on its way! She hopped up on her board, sliding a pair of goggles over her eyes before taking off through the sky, busting up small clouds over Ponyville to clear the way. After a few hours of cloud busting the pegasus flopped on her cloud board, the skies above Ponyville now clear. As the storm came rolling by Paradise's insistent need to be a daredevil kicked in, eyes lighting up mischeviously as she eyed the storm. She turned away from the rolling clouds and flew towards the outskirts of Ponyville, heading up into the sky to try out a new trick.

Great. A storm. Just what Sucre Bleu needed. Here she was, trying to drag her cart to Ponyville, and now the sky was about to open up on her! Of all the blasted luck, darn those stupid weather ponies! The light blue mare continued to grumble and mumble to herself as she pulled her crepe-cooking stand behind her. Hopefully she could grab a room for the night, ride the storm out, and sell some crepes in the morning. If not, it might be a little bit of a struggle getting through the month. A few weeks of slow sales and the chef from Trottingham couldn't really afford to let the storm slow her down at all.

Unfortunately, the rain started to fall down, slowly at first but eventually turning into a downpour that sent a shiver down the Unicorn. If she had a jacket to wear, now would be about the time that she would put it on. Unfortunately, a pony living on a thin budget didn't really have the means to afford luxuries such as a jacket while trying to pay upkeep on a cart and buy fresh ingredients for her crepes. Sucre grit her teeth and just trudged on, intent on getting to Ponyville.

Paradise soared up high into the sky, wings pumping quickly through the air. As the storm swept across the land she could only smile wide, standing up on her board while staring down at a sea of dark rumbling clouds. She took a long stretch, readjusting her goggles over her eyes. After a quick look around the skies to make sure no other weather patrol was around she did a quick flip through the air before plummeting down towards the storm in a complete nose dive, picking up speed at an alarming rate. The mare dissappeared inside of the storm without making a sound, her ears curling back as the sound of building thunder and falling rain filled her senses. Her fur was soaked with rain water as she sped along through the clouds, soon an all too familair tingle began to travel through her back, the tell tale sign of an oncoming bolt. The mare's eyes closed as she stood up slowly on her board, front legs spread to the sides for balance. As she rode along the clouds the tingle in her back spread to her side, her wings flapping quickly to the left as she avoided a bolt of electricity, her silhouette illuminated in the sky as she skillfully manuevered around the arcing electricity, grin still plastered on her face as she went up against the storm.

Loud rumblings in the distance, a sure sign that this wasn't just going to be a light drizzle. A few bright flashes erupted over head, and the light blue mare put a little extra pep into her step, realizing that being in an open field during a lightning storm wasn't the best possible situation. Rain soaked into her pelt, to the point that whatever water managed to hit her simply cascaded down her form, her pelt too soaked to absorb any more.

Her soaked mane stuck to her face, and the stumbling, bumbling mare nearly fell over every few steps trying to get her hair out of her eyes. As the downpour continued, Sucre's annoyance turned to worry. What would happen to her cart if she was stuck out here? The full weight of the situation finally dawned on the mare, and she decided to get the buck out of there. Sucre kept her head down, pulling her cart like she'd never pulled it before. Every crash of thunder and bolt of lightning pulling a few fresh prayers from the mare. Maybe a few words were skipped in the half-shouted, rushed, stream of words, but Celestia would get the point, hopefuly.

"Celestia Nobile... Notre Mere, Priez pour nous, pauvres pécheurs, maintenant et à l'heure de notre mort. Amen!"

This was repeated a few times (although a few expletives found their way worked in when a bolt of lighting got a little too close) and finally she fell silent as a row of trees came into view. Her prayers had been answered! Once Sucre got far enough into the woods, she could find a nice spot to lay down and wait out this dreadful storm. Only a hundred yards or so, and she'd be in the clear! And she wasn't struck by lightning or anything!.

Left, right, upside down, loop de loop, the whole arsenal of tricks Paradise had at her disposal was used to dodge the oncoming bolts, the mare practically dancing with death in the sky without a care in the world. Her wings carried her out of harms way in the nick of time whenver a stray bolt decided to try and surprise her and so far everything was going smoothly and according to plan....or so she thought. After a few twists and turns the mare felt a tightening in her back that began to get tighter and tighter the more she flapped her wings, she tried to make one last turn to escape the storm but at that exact moment disaster decided to strike with vengeance. Her body lit up with the tell tale tingles of oncoming thunderbolts while her wing cramped mid flight, preventing the pegasus from making her turn. As the electricity arced towards the mare all she could do was flip forward and bring her board up to meet the bolts, energy travelling into the bunched up cloud board and making the peice of equipment dark with storm energy.

The force of the striking bolts was enough to knock her off of her board, the board itself only taking a few bolts into it and spiraling towards the ground, ne lucky bolt struk its mark, right along the mare's back and wing, scorching a small line through fur and feathers as she screamed in pain, body going limp in the air before gravity began to drag her towards the ground, the limp mare picking up speed while she hurtled down through the storm cloud. After a few seconds she broke through the bottom of the cloud, heading towards the earth, the mare having gone into an unconscious nose dive. Her last thought before total blackness took over her vision was the fact that she needed to find her board or get another unicorn to bind clouds neatly together in the same design again.

The cover of the forest was close at hoof, and Sucre Bleu could almost feel the safe and secure trees around her. A few flashes of light burst, illuminating the sky and everything below, as Sucre took a moment to cower in fear. The pouring rain, gusting wind, and rolling thunder more than covering up the wounded mare's scream. The darkness of the storm also providing ample cover for Paradise Nut to plummet towards the ground unseen. In fact, Sucre only knew that somepony was falling when they finally decided to reach earth. Of course, something was there to break the fall.

-CRASH-

Sucre twisted awkwardly as something slammed into her cart, the shock of impact twisting the reins and bringing a quite surprised squeal from the chef. Instinctively, she broke into a gallop, ignoring the searing pain in her shoulders as she tried to merely get out of the open. She didn't stop to inspect what had hit her, what else could it be than an errant bolt of lightning!? Thank Celestia she wasn't hurt... but her **** griddle must have been a prime target for that arc of lightning. If only she didn't need a huge piece of metal in order to make her blasted crepes!

Finally, she came to a stop, fully under the cover of the forest canopy. Sure, the rain still got through, but now her and her cart weren't the best destination for a destructive bolt of energy. Now to inspect the damage. With a little bit of hesitance, she unhitched herself from the cart and turned around to take a look. Well, the cart was ruined, the wood on the outside was practically gone, leaving her griddle and a few errant cabinets as the only remains, oh, and there was a mare laying on top of it all, unconscious.

Wait...

She blinked a few times, unsure of what she was seeing. After a few more blinks, she finally felt confident enough to say: "QU'EST-CE QUE C'EST?!" Sucre quickly stepped forward, there were some nasty burn marks on the poor mare's back, and she was out cold. Of course, Sucre was more worried about her cart, but if this pony was really this injured, she had an obligation to help her! As Sucre secured the mare to the cart with a bit of cord from her cart, she shouted through grimaced teeth as to why she had to help this mare.

Well, Sucre was heading for ponyville anyway, now she had a passenger aboard. If Paradise were to awake in the next couple of hours, she'd find herself face down, strapped to a griddle and being dragged along on a cart towards Celestia knows where, with a very angry mare pulling her along and shouting very rude things out at the sky.

Of course, time went by, and Sucre trudged on, before eventually reaching her destination, Ponyville. The ponies there were very hospitable for all 2 minutes that Sucre could stay on her hooves. Paradise was given a hospital bed, while Sucre had to sit next to her on a chair because she wasn't /injured/ enough to warrant a bed. Sucre would've fallen asleep, if not for the constant worry that this pony wouldn't make it, and therefore not be able to pay for repairs to Sucre's cart, thereby ruining her life and destroying her dreams for all eternity. Needless to say, she didn't get much sleep that night.

This mare was in some deep trouble when she woke up.
