Amani - The Peaceful Southern Coast

The far coast of Unyasi has been named Amani by the locals after a Zebra word meaning "peace". The name is all too fitting for the region, which is secluded and free of major settlements. Known for its exceedingly breathtaking landscapes, the coast is the place to go for anypony seeking scenery by which to be inspired away from the bustle of civilization. Despite this, its highly remote location and the efforts of the locals to keep it as it is has kept it from becoming any kind of viable tourist spot.

Tall, purple mountains run the length of the Unyasi continent, effectively separating the coast region from the rest of Unyasi. Everything on the other side of these mountains is referred to as Amani or The Peaceful Lands. The terrain here is filled with grassy hills, and isolated areas of forest in the central and west of the region. The shore land itself is made up of flawless sandy beaches with sizable barrier reefs just offshore. The climate is warm but very temperate and mild. Despite the pleasant conditions, the land of the Amani region is not quite as conducive to farming on a large scale as the Veld--something which helps keep the region largely unsettled.

Zebrakind consider Amani to be a special place worth protecting. The zebras take great pride in the beauty and serenity of the region and go out of their way to ensure it stays the way it is. Because of this, no major efforts to settle the region have ever been considered and visitors to Unyasi are invariably directed away from it or otherwise discouraged to go there by the locals. All the same, the pull of the land remains strong for adventurous sorts and sightseers in the know.

Though largely free of settlement, the region does boast a single isolated village located at the far southeast of the continent, right against the water. This village, which shares its name with the coast region, is very small and rustic in nature, with few permanent residents. The scenery is said to be at its very best here, the village having been originally founded by zebra explorers who found themselves unable to leave upon seeing it. The village is very isolated with trade rarely able to happen, and as such must sustain itself. Those who visit Amani village often describe it as an idyllic paradise that feels an entire world away from the concerns of the rest of the world.
