EARL GREY

* ~ * ~ * ~ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Earl felt like a walk.

He wasn't exactly sure why. In fact, he normally wouldn't, considering that walking around in Canterlot meant having to meet other ponies, which was a detestable experience. It helped that he wore some form of an eye accessory, but that didn't stop them from whispering behind his back. He'd always hear the same words, "dull, empty, boring, creepy, spooked." But he supposed that it was healthy to get out once in a while, and that he wouldn't really have much of a problem as long as he evaded other ponies.

As usual, the streets were busy and crowded with many elegant-looking civilans, some stopping to talk to each other, some busying themselves with newly bought clothing and merchandise or whatnot. On this particular day, he didn't feel like visiting a particular building. Earl decided he might like a trip to the park, so he decided to do so. As usual, the lake was almost a flat, dark green sheet of mirror, except for the occasional ripple. Many leaves had found themselves in the water, floating in no direction in particular. The sun was at the height of it's travels, almost directly in the center of the sun.

[ OOC: Bleh, I have no clue. ]

Another unicorn had found herself with an odd desire to leave her experiments for a time and get out into the city. Living on the outskirts, it was a tad difficult for anything except neccesity or the obtaining of more research material to pull the scientist from her basement laboratory. Her animal companion had scampered off for his nap, as most of his activities were nocturnal ones, so she had elected to take the journey into town alone. The clock tower had been much more functional lately, as her tutor Torvus had been restoring the old and rusted gears of the clock's mechanisms, and as it chimed noon the unicorn had gather all that she might need.

Closing the flap of her saddlebag with a quick formless bit of emerald magic, Quantum Flux stepped out onto the dirt road that lead into Canterlot. Being more of a night owl, due to both her childhood and her increased efficeincy durin gthe hours of darkness, Flux was not pleased to be greeted by the Sun's harsh rays. She trotted into the main section of grand marble and alabaster city with no clear objective in mind. The mare merely needed to clear her mind of the jumbles of formulas and chemicals for increased focus later on in the day. Absentmindedly, the unicorn headed toward the Canterlot Park. It was an odd destination if one wanted a place to clear their thoughts, but she noticed that the area near the expanse of clear water in the park was empty, save for one colt.

She completed her final hoofsteps by the edge of the grassland, just before in slanted down toward the marsh-like bank of the lake. Taking in a deep breath of air, Flux took in the sights and sounds of the land before her. Her work was nearly all-encompassing at times and getting outside was not something that she left was inmportant. Each time her mentor suggested it, she declared it a waste of time and proceeded to work on some new theory that had graced her mind. Today, however was the exception to the rule, as it seemed. She closed her eyes, trying to keep her mind blank of any scientific thoughts.

Lightning Flash hovered in the air over Canterlot, his head turning towards his left and his right to double check the progress of his work. Despite living in Cloudsdale, his work as a weather pony took him to all sorts of places that needed him. Today, it happened to be Canterlot. The young stallion had arrived in Canterlot earlier that morning in order to clear the clouds quickly before the earth-bound ponies began to awake. Now that the job was done, Lightning could feel Celestia's warm sun shine down upon his body. "Another job well done if I do say so myself..." he murmered to nopony in particular.

Deciding not to return home to Cloudsdale just yet, he decided to go see the sights around Canterlot. His quick flyover of the city revealed to him a small, elegant looking park. Lightning's curiousity got to the best of him as he began his descent down into the park. Landing gracefully, he would scan his yellow pupils across the landscape.

Thunderhead was zipping around above the lake in Canterlot Park when he noticed the two ponies below. He had been incredibly bored so far today, with his brother Thunderpeak down for the count with a nasty cold. He had pestered Firebolt and Rainsquall until his older brother had given him a swift hoof to the rear for bothering his baby sister, and at that point he promptly chose to leave his Clan's camp and go explore nearby Canterlot. His masterfully executed attempt to sneak past the guards at the gate had been a success, but the fun of it had soon passed. Buzzing a particularly fancy looking mustachioed unicorn stallion and his gorgeous Mare (Wow she was slim and sleek!) had yielded no amusement... Fancyshorts or whatever the mare had said his name had been simply ignored the colt as he made awkward raspberry noises over their heads. And now, here, below him, some goofy looking recluse was near a pretty darn pretty filly. Boy, did he like redmanes. He was going to have to make this look fan-bucking-tastic!

He flew to the opposite end of the lake, beat his wings to climb a little, and dove sharply. As he neared the water, he leveled out, and let the wind from his low-hanging hooves through up a small spray of misty water. As he shot across the lake, he focused, gritting his teeth in a smile, and his body charged with visible crackling and sparking static electricity. He came to a stunning halt a few feet int front of the redmaned filly, a fine mist from the lake settling in the air as sparks flew from his body to the droplets of water around him, making a miniature storm of minscule lightning.

"Greetings. And you are?" he asked, grinning from ear to ear.
