[Park] A walk in the park

[kat]

Today was certainly not the best. Kat thought. It was true. She had received an F on three tests, she had gotten sick halfway through the school day, and her sister, Skylight, almost burned the house down trying to find her cutie mark. Her nerves were frayed, and even ice cream didn't soothe them.

Suddenly, Kat passed a sign that read, "Ponyville Park". Hey, parks are pretty relaxing...

The park changed nothing. All the little foals were having fun with balls, hoops, and other playthings, while their parents happily talked amongst themselves. Kat had no one to be with right now, and that only added to her misery. Really, the only thing that changed was that she had a bench, and a beautiful pond in front of her.

Splat. Something came down on Kat's head. It felt warm and sticky... She looked up, and saw two pigeons flying overhead.

"Gnngh! Can this day get any worse?"

[Puck]

It was a nice calm afternoon in Ponyville as Violet was playing in the local park.

Though her ideas of playing were probably a bit strange to other fillies her age. She had been playing about

in the grass searching for bugs, she seemed to enjoy their company as long as they didn't sting or bite her.

She had just found one that caught her eye and she let it crawl up her hoof onto her should. She giggled at the tickling little legs and skipped about the part feeling accomplished. She noticed a rather distracted looking pony over on the horizon with something unmentionable in her mane... ''Hmm... I wonder if she can see me from over here.'' Violet commenced to sneak around behind playground equipment and trees giggling to herself scoping out the pony for a little surprise...

There was a rustling of leaves behind Kat. At first, she just ignored it. A few more seconds later, the rustle happened again, but closer than it was. She had no patience right now. Again, another rustle of leaves, a bit closer. Kat turned around to see a little bunny playing around in the grass.

"Gosh darnit! Can't you just leave me alone?" She shouted, and scared the little bunny away. Just as the bunny was hopping away, Kat noticed a purple unicorn looking at her from behind some playground equipment. Oh, for the love Celestia, can i just get some PEACE AND QUIET?

[Puck]

Violet squeaks in surprise being caught, jumping back! ''Aww...-!You scared the bunny away!.'' The small purple unicorn looked at the bunny running off frowning. She looked back to Kat, extending a hoof in greeting to the distressed white filly, ''Oh... I'm Violet, who are you?'' she said grinning, ''Oh sorry for trying to scare you back there. It's kind of a hobby of mine.''

Kat gave the other pony a death stare. ''Oh... I'm Violet, who are you?'' After seeing the pony was just a little filly and was trying to be nice, she calmed down a little. "Um, I'm... You can just call me Kat." Kat put on a fake smile and tried to act like she wasn't mad, but according to the purple filly's face, it didn't seem to be working.

''Oh sorry for trying to scare you back there. It's kind of a hobby of mine.'''

"Well, um, just make sure who you try to scare." Kat suddenly felt a cold trickle of something down her back... "Hey, you're a unicorn." She got off the bench and turned around to show her back to Violet. "Do you think you could help me get some of this stuff off?"

[Puck]

Violet looked at the unmentionable matter in Kat's mane, her little horn begins to emit a small glow and within a few seconds a splash of water appeared over Kat's mane leaving it washed but now dripping wet as well. She giggled, ''That should do it! Sorry I'm not the best with magic, so a rinse was the best I can do. I'm a weaver not a washer.'' she said smirking at Kat. Worried that Kat's smile would to turn into a scowl at her failed attempt at helping, ''Aww come one it's not that bad, cheer up. What's got you so down anyway?'' she asked skipping around the filly, her wine-colored cape fluttering behind her with each bouncy step.

Kat's fake smile became a little less fake, and more genuine. Finally, something nice that happened today. I just hope it lasts... "Oh, it's um, fine." Kat shook her head back and forth, drying off her mane.

''Aww come one it's not that bad, cheer up. What's got you so down anyway?''

"Well, if you want to know..." Kat took a deep breath. "I flunked three tests, ate some baked bads, got sick, and my house was nearly burned down by my sister!" Kat tried to spin around to look at the foal, but couldn't, and gave up after getting dizzy. "What are you doing here?"

[Puck]

Violet stopped jumping around in circles to avoid anymore dizziness for Kat, ''Actually... I'm not sure. Just felt like getting some fresh air and seeing what I could get myself into today... Well like I do every other day.'' She turned to look behind at her cape and straightened it out. Looking back at Kat, ''I get pretty bored staying at home, my parent's are out most of the time on long delivery trips, and they don't like bringing me with them. Since it's *dangerous* for a pony my age, which I think is silly.''

It took a few more seconds for Kat's head to stop spinning. "Parents..." that had brought up some old memories. "Yeah, traveling is a pretty dangerous thing. You'd understand when you're a filly." She fidgeted, not sure what to do. "So, I'm guessing there's something you wanted to do once you got over here?"

[Puck]

Violet chuckled. ''Oh I know that traveling's dangerous. I'm pretty sure I'm not going back to the Everfree Forest again on my own." Violet looked around... ''Well it is a park? I guess I was going to play around here for a while or look for something else that'd be a bit more entertaining..." Violet shrugged smiling, ''I just like prowling around~!" She covered her head with her little hood tucked under her cape, ''Though I can't say much about all this sunlight!''

"Again? What do you mean you went in to the Everfree Forest again?" Kat was amazed - well, that is, if Violet was telling the truth. "Well, I guess you're right. It is a park..." Kat realized the smile on her face wasn't even part fake now. This little foal had cheered her up. "Hey, I know! We could do... No, you're probably not interested, unless you like swinging."

[Puck]

''Swinging? Sure, I'm okay with that, I guess.'' Violet said shrugging. ''Unless there's something else you had in mind?'' She said skipping around Kat again. She was clearly easily amused with just skipping at the moment. She looked around, ''Such a nice day today, I wonder why nopony else is here. I'd think the place would be overrun little fillies and colts.'' She giggled, ''Unless I scared them all off just being here.''

"No, I really can't think of anything else." [OOC]I really can't.[/OOC] Kat plopped herself down on a swing. She loved swinging, and it was one of her favorite things to do at the park when she was a littly filly.

Kat thought for a second about what Violet just said. "No, it's definitely not you! I think Pinkie Pie is hosting a party at sugarcube corner today or something."

[Puck]

Violet joined Kat on the swings, upon sitting on the swing she felt something underneath her rump follow by a long deep akward squeak... She suddenly remembered she had Skitters in her cape pocket...! "Oh no! Skitters!" She quickly jumped to her hooves and scooped out the squished toy spider out of her pocket to check for any damage she may have caused. She worriedly turned the toy spider around and poke and prodded at it to see if it was still in one piece. It still retained it's shape prior to her sitting on it. It still squeaked when poked hard enough. She sighed in relief and adorned the rather realistic looking rubber spider on her head such as one would with a hat. She looked back to Kat who was probably very confused, "Oh, sorry if I just freaked you out. I totally forgot the little guy was in my pocket."

She looked up at Skitters and patted him as if he was her pet rather than her toy, "But you're okay, awen't you Skitters?" she said and then continued the sentance in a way that was hard to make out, coddling her toy with great affection.

"Skitters?" she asked with confusion. Violet didn't respond, since she was probably focused on whatever skitters was. "What's Skitt-Eep!" Kat fell off the swing on to her back. Bugs didn't creep her out, but Kat hadn't been expecting violet to pull a spider out of her pocket, and much less a spider of that size. Violet seemed to notice her fall on the ground.

"Oh, sorry if I just freaked you out. I totally forgot the little guy was in my pocket."

Kat got up and brushed some dirt out of her mane and got back on her swing. "Yes! Why do you even have a spider in your pocket anyways?" Well, she is young, and she did say she likes to scare other ponies.

[Puck]

Violet looked down at Kat who had fallen over when she was distracted by Skitters, "Who's skitters? This is skitters~!" Her horn glowed faintly as Skitters floated down in front of Kat and wobbled, then floated back onto Violet's head like a hat. She giggled, "He's my toy spider. But he's like a pet to me~! Besides he doesn't bite like the other spiders I tried having as pets did. Hey...! I scared you after all! And by complete accident." she said giggling feeling rather achieved getting a scare out of Kat since she failed to earlier.

She proceeded to adjust the ribbon-tie on her cape so it wouldn't come loose on her later on and adjusted Skitters on her head so that he wouldn't fall off, "You don't mind me keeping the little guy on my head like this do you?" she asked sitting back on the swing, "I don't wanna accidentally sit on him again. He didn't seem very happy that I sat on him once already."

Kat was relieved to see the spider was only rubber, and sighed a breath of relief when Skitters was levitated back up on Violet's head.

"He's my toy spider. But he's like a pet to me~! Besides he doesn't bite like the other spiders I tried having as pets did. Hey...! I scared you after all! And by complete accident."

Kat giggled. "Well, I'll have to think of something to get you back!"

"You don't mind me keeping the little guy on my head like this do you?" Violet said. "I don't wanna accidentally sit on him again. He didn't seem very happy that I sat on him once already."

Kat got back on her swing. "Oh, no! I don't mind. I think I'm starting to like Skitters!" She felt a smile forming on her face. Her day probably wouldn't be too bad after all.

[Puck]

Continuing her swinging on the swings with Skitters safely on her head, Violet felt relaxed, she never really spent much time at the park before so It was all pretty amusing to her.

After a few minutes of silently swinging she felt awkward for not having thinking of something to talk about... That wasn't normal for her, normally she was a bit of a blabbermouth when she had somepony to talk to.

She kicked her hooves at the ground while she swung back and forth, though her legs were too short to actually reach the ground from up on the swing... "Hmm... So do you like swinging here? I mean is this what you usually do when you come here?" She asked

She looked around at the park noticing how calm and vacant it was today, barely anypony was there today. Oddly calming, she wasn't used to this much silence unless she was home alone like she usually was, brought her down a bit...

"I mean I just usually go for walks around here or to look for bugs, or just to clear my mind. Never really play much here. Do you?"

"Yes, I LOVE coming here." Kat replied. "Well, that is, when I'm not working or doing homework. I usually sit down by the pond and practice singing, or draw something." this was strange for Kat; she hardly ever talks this much to other ponies, not even her sister or teachers.

"Well, I don't really play, but I like to take walks too. Especially on days like this. It isn't too hot, not too cold, and some clouds in the sky. It really helps me clear my mind, and think of ideas for songs. You know, everything seems more peaceful without a lot of ponies here. I like it."

[Puck]

Violet smiled, she was glad to break that awkward silence they were having. She started to swing a bit a bit further back and forth now, "That's cool, I never really came here too often. Well not these days at least... I didn't know there was that much to do here. Well for fillies my age. I'm supposed to act older now or something like my parents say..." She said a bit frowningly but smiled after, "I mean I know I'm growing up but I can't be expect to stop having fun, right?" Kat was somewhat of a stranger to her still but she felt better being able to talk to somepony besides her parents or other stern authoritative figures in her life, somepony more her age... Well at least closer to her age than them.

Kat could relate to Violet. "I know exactly how you feel. Older ponies expect me to be mature and fancy, like I live in Manehattan or something. I just want to be able to dance and sing, but everypony judges me for it. I want to play with the toys they sell in town,even if they only entertain me for minutes. To be able to write and draw and dream without someone thinking I'm weird or unrealistic. I'm expected to conform to the rest of the community and be a 'normal' pony!" She paused for a second. "Heh... That was deep. You know Violet, we've only just met no more than an hour ago, and i'm starting to like you! Oh, and uh, sorry for yelling at you earlier. I shouldn't have done that..."

[Puck]

Violet laughed hearing an apology from somepony, "Hehe, well this is new... I've never heard somepony apologize for yelling at me for scaring them. Well, apology accepted, Kat~!" This was probably one of the most interesting conversations she's had with something that wasn't a rubber spider. It made her pretty happy to have a conversation that made her actually think for once. Violet was starting to find Kat to be a pretty nice person and did feel bad for scaring her.

"You know you're a pretty nice pony, sorry I scared you. Normally I only scare ponies that are being mean or stuff... I mean I kinda do for fun sometimes but I really shouldn't heh... My mom calls that my mean-streak." She smirked on that comment, "I'm trying not to do that too much these day... It's hard making friends when you scared them." Violet gave herself another try at swinging instead of just sitting while she talked, she gave herself a good pull back and forced her little legs forward and started to swing back and forth with great force~! Her cape making a *fwoosh* sound as it flapped behind her!

"You know what? This is pretty fun! I've never swung this high before~!" She yelled with a few "Whee~!" and "Woah!" cries in between each sentence. swinging until the young filly was nearly airborne.

"Hey, don't apologize. I'm the one who yelled at you." Kat said, and laughed at Violet's "mean streak" comment. Violet started to swing back and forth harder.

"Hah! If you think THAT is fun, just wait until you can do this..." Kat gathered some more speed. Just as the swing started to slow down, kat flung herself off the swing. Kat felt the rush of adrenaline as she reached the zenith of her flight. When she finally touched the ground, she landed on all fours.

"Fillies and Gentelcolts," she looked back at Violet. "Don't try this at home."

Violet watched as Kat had swung and leaped from her swing and landed, she now wanted to follow along~! She was already swinging even harder than Kat was when she jumped, even further back and forth, it would be a cinch for her to make the jump...! All she had to do was hope she landed on all fours when she touched the ground...

"Watch this~! I bet I can fly even farther than you did!" she yelled as she readied to let go of the swing and make her daring flight...! She swallowed as she felt her throat tighten up and her brow tense... She felt herself start to swing forward as her arms unwrapped from the swing and she felt herself leave the swing...

It all felt like it went by slowly to her as she felt the wind rustle through her mane and make her cape flap like a flag as she glided through the air. She looked down at the ground below her excitedly, she felt so free...! So alive...! So close to the ground...-!

She had been so excited and amazed by her ascent for had completely forgotten about her soon to be descent as she made her way to the ground sliding on her belly...-!

She flopped over on her side covered by her cape almost completely and curled up covering her belly cringing.

"Watch this~! I bet I can fly even farther than you did!" were the very last words Kat wanted to hear. The filly had never done this before, and didn't know how to land correctly. A split second after hearing those words, Kat yelled out, "No, wait! You're going t-" she paused as Violet released her grip of the swings. As violet flew through the air, Kat stiffened. It only took less than a second to realize, she's not going to land right!

Violet landed on her stomach, and slid across the ground, coming to a stop just before where Kat stood.

"Oh my gosh, are you alright?" Kat asked/shouted. He noticed red scratches running down the unicorn's chest, and some starting to bleed. "Horseapples! This is my fault! I am so sorry!"
