Character Summary: Tenderbloom is the latest in a long line of Pegasus Ponies that have split from the sky cities and descended into the lands below. Using their talents in shifting the weather, they became incredibly adept at tending plants. Eventually settling in Everfree Forest where the unique nature expedited the process of mixing and breeding new specimens. Over the years, they moved from grove to grove, each few generations, collecting information and growing new homes for themselves. The latest, a tall, wide tree with steps grown into its bark, circling its perimeter. A courtesy for visitors of course. Situated in a hidden grove of streams and cliffs, protected by living vines. A bark of ironclad strength, resistant to the ravages or fire and even lightning. The many branches are carefully coaxed into living quarters, many rooms, windows, even a watering system were incorporated into its design, funneling both fresh spring water into the living quarters and heated water from deep vents. The system is used not only to sustain the ponies but also the home and plants therein. The floor contains many deep depressions filled with high quality soils. Eventually after the home was completed and love blossomed, Tenderbloom arrived, and lived very happily with her parents, who, in a radical departure from the family tradition they decided to collect their findings and disseminate them to the general public in the form of a novel "The tendencies of Nature".

Over the years she grew up in a quiet, happy home with her parents, learning everything they could teach her about the tending of plants and safety in the forest. As a young pony, she grew a great passion for plants, and quickly discovered her cutie mark, much to her parents' barely contained joy. A quiet and relatively informal party was held, with all three of them in attendance, a wonderful turnout! Tea and apple berry blender cakes were served, along with potato bread and a granola stew. It was a great day, and she was given the choice to have any plant she wanted for her own. She chose a mandrake, and, while her parents were hesitant, they acquiesced. They carefully collected it for her, and on its delivery, she could not keep herself from hugging it. It let out a loud cry, and her parents subsequently fell over stiff as a board. Tenderbloom, somehow, was largely unaffected by its cries. It was so loud, her sensitive ears could barely hear it. Instead of being a debilitating shriek, it was a tingly cry that sent shivers down her spine.

It soon became apparent that she did not speak in such soft tones merely out of shyness and quiet grace, she could not stand to be any louder, it was uncomfortable for her emotionally and physically. Her parents were hesitant to let her wander on her own, but she proposed an elegant solution. Training her mandrake, Mr. Biggles to ride upon her head and mane, anchoring itself with roots and vines, she turned herself into a fluttering deterrent to the creatures of Everfree. Her beloved friend's cries kept them at bay, and her parents decided a few years later that it was time to pass the home on to her so they could pursue their dream. They left, and are now off working various jobs in an attempt to raise capital to publish their novels.

Tenderbloom gleefully accepted the responsibility of continuing the work and created quirky and unexpected crossbreeds, like crystal flax and sighing grass. Rarely venturing out of the tree except under thick mists to collect sweet dew that pools along particular plants in Everfree forest, she was safe for several years. Her friend and pet kept the monsters at bay, and she lived day to day tending the plants that she so loved. That is, until the monotony was broken up the day she met Maxie. Out in the canyons searching for new succulents to breed with. The did not hear the creature approach. Only the cries of Mr. Biggles alerted her to the presence. A great creature of iron and stone, it was as unphased by the cries as she herself, perhaps even moreso. Only the extreme happenstance of the arrival of the wonderful pony saved her from a very frightening experience, or perhaps worse.

The two quickly became fast friends, and while Maxie has politely declined the offer to live with her up in the tree on several occasions, Tenderbloom is flagrantly aware of a mischievous little ragamuffin that has taken up residence in the hollow below her home. She keeps a watchful eye on Maxie, but pretends not to notice and is always eager to welcome her for a visit. When she isn't busy tending her babies or carefully concocting new specimens of course.
