Mane/Tail/Other: A tricolor of violet, dark pink and yellow. Both her mane and tail curl elegantly. She has larger wings than most pegasi that are pink to match her coat and transition into purple towards the tips. Her horn is longer than most normal unicorn horns.

Physique: Taller than most normal ponies, with long, lanky legs.

Occupation: Crystal Princess, ruler and protector of the Crystal Empire.

Unique Traits: Has the ability to use her magic to spread love and stop conflicts between ponies. With a simple spell she can make the most bitter of enemies find peace and love with each other.

History: Born a pegasus to unknown parents, Mi Amore Cadenza was raised by in a village of earth ponies who had discovered her abandoned in the wilderness. When she had grown, she had an encounter with an evil pony named Prismia, who used a spell to rob ponies of their love thanks to an enchanted pendant she wore around her neck that enhanced her evil magic. Rather than stealing Cadence’s love, her enchanted necklace instead enhanced her love, overthrowing the evil in Prismia. Prismia, now overpowered by the love she had received from Cadence, changed her evil ways. It was then Cadence was swept away into a mysterious ethereal plane where she found herself face to face with Princess Celestia, the ruler of Equestria and the pony who raised the sun. Celestia expressed her love for Cadence and her compassionate ways, and decided to adopt her as her niece, as well as allowing Cadence to be transformed into an alicorn princess. She also earned her cutie mark in the process, a heart made from crystals, to represent her special talent in spreading love.

During her new life in Canterlot, Cadence took up foalsitting in her spare time. She cared for many youngs foals, but developed a special bond with one particular unicorn filly named Twilight Sparkle. Through the time they spent together, Cadence became incredibly close with Twilight and found herself enjoying foalsitting the purple unicorn filly more than any of the other foals she cared for. Foalsitting Twilight also led Cadence to meet another pony, Twilight’s older brother Shining Armor. The first few meetings between the two were awkward and uneventful, but over time the two became friends and eventually developed a relationship, their love strong and unbreakable by any force.

When they both reached adulthood, Shining Armor proposed to Cadence, to which she joyfully accepted. Much of the planning for the wedding, however, was halted by a threat being made towards Canterlot. As captain of the guard, Shining Armor had no choice but to be on full alert for danger and put all his time into the defense of the city. In the process, Shining Armor was unable to properly inform Twilight of the wedding. Perhaps most troubling of all, due to Shining being completely focused on protecting Canterlot, he was unable to save Cadence from being abducted by Chrysalis, the queen of the changelings, vicious pony-like creatures that fed off love to power their shapeshifting abilities. Chrysalis took on Cadence’s form and carried on with the wedding preparations as planned, although she truly cared nothing for Shining Armor’s love. Contrary to Cadence’s true nature, Chrysalis played Cadence as rude, cruel and uncaring. This caused Twilight to become suspicious and after some digging, she discovered “Cadence” casting a spell on Shining Armor which altered his mind. Twilight confronted her about this, but nopony believes her and condemns her, with Shining Armor going as far as to remove her from her position as best mare. Alone and heartbroken, Twilight is suddenly imprisoned by the fake Cadence in the caverns beneath the castle. Chrysalis taunts Twilight in the caverns and provokes her into firing spells randomly until she blasts open a cave wall to reveal the real Cadence. Twilight is ready to harm her when Cadence proves she is the real Cadence by recalling her and Twilight’s “Sunshine, Sunshine” song and dance, something that Chrysalis was unable to do. They escape the caverns and interrupt the wedding just as it’s about to conclude. Chrysalis reveals her true form, incapacitates Celestia in a duel and invades Canterlot with her changeling swarm. Shining Armor, now completely under her control, can’t support his shield spell and it is shattered by the changelings. After a failed attempt to retrieve the Elements of Harmony, Cadence’s frees Shining Armor and together they use the power of their love to repel the changelings and save the city. Twilight and her friends re-plan the wedding and Shining Armor and the real Cadence are happily wed.

Some time later, the Crystal Empire, the home of the mysterious crystal ponies, returned from its thousand year absence. Cadence, realizing this is her true destiny, travels to the Empire with Shining Armor to find a way to defend it from King Sombra, an evil unicorn who enslaved the Empire and was responsible for its disappearance. With Sombra free from imprisonment in the frozen north, Cadence used her magic of love and light to create a defense for the Empire. It worked, but it took a heavy toll on Cadence, slowly draining her of energy and magic. To make matters worse, Shining Armor’s magic was stifled when he tried to fight Sombra and protect the Elements of Harmony as they traveled to the Empire, leaving his horn damaged and useless. The Elements of Harmony eventually learned that the Empire was protected from the crystal ponies’ magic which was recharged from an annual Crystal Faire. They create the Faire and it seems to work, but they make a costly mistake when they forget about the Crystal Heart, the Empire’s lifesource, and use a false heart instead. Twilight searches for the Heart while her friends distract the crystal ponies, but they eventually learn the truth and begin to panic. Cadence can no longer support the defense of the city and her spell fades, allowing Sombra to invade the city. Twilight finally locates the Crystal Heart, but is unable to retrieve it, and instead Spike the Dragon escapes with the Heart. He slips and falls with the Heart off of the dark crystals growing on the Palace, and the sight of the Crystal Heart gives Cadence new hope. With her husband’s assistance, she flies towards Spike and grabs him and the Heart, and the crystal ponies see her and praise her as the Crystal Princess finally returned to them. Cadence uses the Heart to recharge the spirits of the crystal ponies and destroy Sombra once and for all.

Now the leader of the Crystal Empire, Princess Cadence watches over her subjects and protects them from harm along with Shining Armor, making sure the Crystal Heart never falls into evil hooves again.

Character Summary/Personality:

Cadence is renowned for being kind, caring, and loving to all creatures from all walks of life, and is always cheerful and sweet to her subjects and friends. She continues to have the special bond with Twilight that began when they were young, and now as sisters-in-law their friendship is greater than ever. She rules the Crystal Empire alongside her beloved husband Shining Armor, who remains by her side through think and thin. Her duties as Princess of Love and leader of the Empire keeps her busy for the most part, and many times the workload of leading and protecting a kingdom can get tedious and boring, so Cadence relishes in any chance at excitement or action she can get. She usually plays a part in any big events in Equestria that require the presence of the princesses, and recently was able to be one of the overseers of this year’s Equestria Games, hosted right in here own kingdom. Now that Twilight herself is a princess, she has been supportive and assuming a mentoring role to her as she learns to adapt to her new life as a princess. Cadence’s compassion and kindness is never is short supply, and she is always there to help a pony in need.
