Name: Attic Wit

Sex: Male

Age: Stallion

Species: Unicorn

Eye color:

Attic Wit has dark gold eyes.

Coat:

Wit’s coat is off-white, like fresh parchment.

Mane/Tail:

Attic Wit has a dark red mane and tail, both long in length. In his mane he has a single streak of blond and he usually pulls the top part of his mane back in a bun or pony tail solely to keep his hair out of his face. He’ll claim to not care about his hair, but he secretly enjoys keeping it long and healthy.

Physique:

Wit is not the fittest stallion. Instead he could accurately be described as lanky and perhaps lean if one is feeling especially nice. Since he over relies on his magic for even simple things like opening doors, it’s shown its mark over the years.

His horn gradients from a dark red like his mane and tail at the tip back down to the off-white color of his coat at its base.

Residence:

He has an apartment in Manehattan.

Occupation:

Poet and editor. Wit makes his money in editing but has aspirations of being a Bard, travelling and reciting verse and stories of old.

He also reluctantly edits Maenad Descent’s book series The Truth of it All.

Cutie Mark:

Attic Wit has the outline of bright red horn as his Cutie Mark.

He received his Cutie Mark relatively early in life. While his mother had stepped out he had moved a chair in order to climb on and reach her special cabinet where she kept her books that she didn't think appropriate for his young eyes. Attic Wit had very much wanted to "grow up" sooner rather than later and had reasoned that reading his mother's books would help him.

The books he stole from the cabinet were very wordy and mostly written in verse but spoke of historic wars and tales of both heroes and villains. Attic Wit was smitten with the poetic style of recanting of old myths and historic happenings. The red horn formed mimicking the horn the muse of epic poetry, Calliope, is depicted as having.

In light of the Cutie Mark his mother had forgiven his transgression.

Unique Traits:

The color gradient of his horn is somewhat unique, but it's the tattoo on his right forelimb that attracts the most eyes. In a dark red outline, he has a three headed snake that coils from the bottom of his limb upwards with the three heads fanned out at the top. It's a rather blunt reference/rendition of the Serpent Column.

History:

Wit was born to a single mare not due to some tragedy but because his mother simply wasn’t into romance. She did very much want a foal to dote on however and made arrangements so that she eventually birthed Attic Wit. As she was a bookseller she often spent her days reading to Wit or passing him books and so his life has always revolved around literature.

Adding to his attachment with books was the problem of his own personality when trying to make friends. Attic Wit doesn't mean to be mean, but his initial thoughts and reactions are harsh and insensitive. He has to gentile his words and make sure he's saying the appropriate things instead of what he's really thinking and when he was growing up he hadn't quite mastered that.

His mother, while exasperated with Wit's nature, had the habit of solving her problems with books instead of seeking help or reprimanding her son harshly.

It wasn't until Attic Wit left Canterlot (his birth place and where his mother still resides) that he discovered street performers and found he very much like that medium for reciting poems and stories. Busking has become a big hobby of his and way to present himself as he wants to through poetry and verse. Of course, editing is what pays his bills.

Character Personality:

Like his name would imply, he has a mordant demeanor and a harsh view of ponies and life. “Be nice,” had been a frequent mantra of his mother’s and even with her trying to help him he hadn't made any friends when he was younger. He wants to be likable, it just isn't his first impulse and he often berates himself for that very fact. Social situations are difficult for him because he wants to make a good impression and unless he's reciting poetry he'll find it difficult to play nice for extended periods. Self-editing is a big thing for him and he knows its important if he wants to be a better pony.

When he becomes more comfortable he'll be less strict with himself and his words, but regardless he's not a sensitive or empathetic soul.

Character Summary:

Attic Wit is a poet and editor who has a cruel streak with his words when he doesn't watch himself.
