Name: Spike
Sex: Male
Age: Child/baby
Species: Dragon
Eye colour: Bright Green
Scales: A soft and shiny shade of purple, with a pale green underbelly.
Mane/Tail: Spike's head is topped with a crest of slightly darker green spines that run along to his spaded tail, he has smaller frills on either side of his face.
Physique: Spike is very short, standing no taller than an average mare, and a little on the pudgy side. He has a very rounded and soft appearance, adding to his babyfaced innocent look. He has a small fang that tends to poke out on one side.
Residence: Ponyville
Occupation: Number one assistant to Princess Twilight Sparkle!
Cutie Mark: Not applicable.
Unique Traits: Spike has the unique ability to use a special kind of magical flame to safely transport scrolls to wherever Twilight might need. This can produce some amusing effects when the poor dragon comes down with a case of the hiccups however!

History: Spike never got the chance to know his parents in any way, having been acquired by Celestia as an egg for use in her exams for the fillies and colts in the gifted unicorn programs. It's a pretty safe bet that for whatever reason, his egg was found abandoned, as it is not often that dragons will just give their eggs away to ponies. At any rate, that was the presumed reason that he ended up in the school's possession in the first place. He doesn't remember much about his actual hatchday, only a very bright flash, a view of all of Canterlot, and then an astonished face looking over him. His infancy was spent being cared for by the young unicorn filly, Twilight Sparkle(with the help of Celestia of course!), all the warm nights curled up by the fire being read to, playing in the castle garden, he was every bit the baby brother of the sometimes antisocial pony, their bond was sealed from the start, and the young dragon definitely imprinted on the pony who brought him into the world.

He traveled with Twilight to Ponyville filled with an anxious sense of adventure, never quite as opposed to meeting new ponies and making friends as she was, he was eager to see more of the world than his friend's library and the castle grounds. He instantly liked the small, quaint little town, and all the ponies in it, they were very warm and inviting, even to strangers such as them, and seemed to show not trepidation about welcoming a dragon into their town(though it'd of been hard to be scared of such a small dragon anyway), he knew that it was important for Twilight to socialize, so he tried his best to gently push her to do so, feeling more than a little disappointed when it seemed like all she wanted to do was hide away in the town's library and read books. It would be a lie to say that the baby dragon wasn't more than a little thrilled when Celestia decided that they should remain in Ponyville, he'd grown quickly attached to the place and was more than happy to call it his new home.

Spike spends a lot of his time now as the constant assistant to the Princess of Friendship, writing letters that need to be written and sending them, keeping the shelves of the castle's vast library neatly ordered just how his friend likes it, and making sure the place shines by keeping a regular cleaning schedule. He occasionally returns to Canterlot for royal duties, and more often then not spends his time helping Twilight to keep right on schedule.

Character Personality: Spike is probably one of the most dependable and loyal characters that you could know, second only to the element of Loyalty herself, he is always ready and willing to stop whatever he's doing to help Twilight with any task she needs done, no matter how exhausting it may be. He can be a bit of a complainer at times when the task he's asked to do is deemed tedious, such as reorganizing shelves for the fifth time that day, but he will always do what he is asked anyway. One could say that he is incredibly eager to please, and feeling appreciated is very important to the young dragon, causing him to sometimes take on more tasks than he can handle to the point where he quickly becomes overwhelmed, but childish pride often keeps him from asking for help, and forces him to figure out ways around it or excuses so that he doesn't have to admit that he's been defeated.

He is a very playfully sarcastic type at times, cracking jokes and making well intended jabs at others misfortune, he means well, but sometimes he can go a bit farther than he realizes, and has to be gently told to back off for the time being. He loves nothing more than having fun and playing, he is a child after all, and despite his eagerness to help and please Twilight, he will always prefer days where he is left to his own devices to explore the town or just stay in and sleep the day away. He is incredibly outgoing and talkative, always eager to make new friends and meet new ponies, which he gets to often being the constant companion of the Princess, he warms up to strangers easily and is often quick to trust, which is as much a curse as it is a blessing, as it leaves him easily taken advantage of.

He does have his insecurities though, his identity as a dragon and his own self image tend to be major issues that he sometimes faces, though he has recently come to terms with being very unlike normal dragons, he still fights with himself sometimes about his place in the world, and what will happen as he grows older. He also sometimes feels insecure about his relationship with Twilight Sparkle, wondering if he is no more than an assistant, or if she sees him as a brother as he sees her as a sister, he knows that his worries are irrational, and for the most part he is able to work them out on his own, but he still needs reassurance from time to time, and is often too nervous to actually talk to anyone about it.

Spike can also be a rather empathetic little fellow, sensitive to the concerns and worries of others, and always willing to try and talk it out or lift any burden to his own shoulders to take some of it off of whoever is hurting. This is especially true of Twilight Sparkle, whom he is constantly worried over, becoming something of a mother hen to the alicorn when she is wrapped up in long study-binges. He is always eager to cook and make sure she eats and sleeps regularly, and alway manages to stay positive for her, even when she might snap at him for his concerns. He has had to grow up a lot with the tribulations that he has faced alongside his dearest friends, but no matter what he always tries to keep a smile on his face.

Character Summary: Spike is a doggedly determined and altogether dedicated friend to all of the ponies who he calls family. He is a black sheep among dragons and a sore thumb among ponies, but faces every day with a smile and a can-do attitude. His playful and sarcastic nature can come off as insensitive to those not familiar with him, but once you get to know him you'll soon learn that he is genuine and innocent in his jesting. He wants nothing more than to please those around him, and will do anything to do so, even at his own expense. Spike is very young still, but has grown a lot since the day he hatched, learning the magic of friendship right alongside the pony who is more of a sister to him than any dragon could be.

He has seen his fair share of frightening things, and lived through more scrapes than he can count, but he always managed to keep the smile on his face strong, even when he might not be feeling the most confident or sure of his place in the world. He is quick to lend a hand, no matter the task, and wont give up until he accomplishes it. This causes him to sometimes bite off more than he can chew, and it takes a lot to get the stubborn young dragon to actually bend and ask for help. He cares deeply for all of his friends, but none so much as Twilight Sparkle, the pony who raised him from the moment he hatched. If anyone ever asked him what Twilight was to him, he would probably simply laugh it off and tell them she was as much a sister as any, but he would be lying if there wasn't a motherly connection there, as he would do anything to make her proud of him,

He can get a bit easily jealous because of this, especially when he feels he is at risk of being replaced, the rational part losing to the irrational part that convinces him that he even could be replaced. He knows the notion is ridiculous, but can't help but feel slightly hurt when he feels like a third wheel in any situation. He bounces back quickly, and tries his best not to dwell on anything too long, as he realizes that HE is Twilight's number one assistant, and nothing could take that from him.

Though he does sometimes struggle with his role as a dragon in Equestria, he has begun to slowly see that he does in fact have a place and a family, and despite them not being dragons, he wouldn't trade them for anything. He could certainly be described as a pony trapped in the skin of a dragon, as he seems to lack many of the more crude or aggressive tendencies that most seem to have, he is very kind and considerate to a fault, and despite his sometimes biting sarcasm, can be very polite when the time comes to do so. He worries sometimes about what he will do when he begins to grow in size, or what will happen when he beds down for his long hibernation, pony lives are short, and dragons live near infinite lives. He tries his best not to dwell on these thoughts, but sometimes catches himself pondering about it at night despite his attempts not to.

Overall though Spike is probably among the most positive and upbeat, always trying to do what he can when he can to make Twilight's job easier. He is dedicated to the mare, and intends to remain just who he is for as long as he is able.

Cast RP Response - I hope it's okay to phrase it as if it's an RP with a specific character(Twilight in this case), I really wanted to show Spike being what he is, a kid, fighting with the urge to run away from or lie about a problem, or be a good person and fess up. I struggled with this a lot a a kid haha.

He'd made a mistake.

Spike prided himself on his ability to complete whatever task he was asked to do right the very first time he tried. He was infinitely confident in his abilities to always do exactly what needed to be done, no matter how strenuous it might be. He was a child, sure, but he was still capable of many things. It wasn't often that the young dragon failed, well, that was a bit of a lie, but at least he always managed to solve whatever issue he had without running to Twilight for help.

But how in Equestria was he meant to solve this?

This book had been SO important, to both Twilight and Celestia, an ancient relic that HE had been tasked with delivering to his closest friend in Ponyville. She would have gone herself, should have, but she'd gotten wrapped up in research and had tasked him to do it for her. She had trusted him with this task, trusted him to fetch this important volume. And he failed.

She should have gone herself, if she'd of just set aside her studied for a short time, this wouldn't have happened. He sniffled a tear as he sat on a bench on the quaint Ponyville street, glaring at the mocking tome, "This is your fault. Stupid book." He growled and picked it up, about to hurtle the damaged book across the street, but stopped himself, sniffling with a sigh, "No it isn't. It's mine...Twilight is going to disown me for this..." He hadn't meant to drop it, hadn't seen the rock or the deep puddle, hadn't been quick enough to save it from serious damage. The book was so old that it was quickly beyond repair.

He held it to his chest, biting his lip with a long fang as he made his way a little too slowly back home. What would he tell her? The truth? If he told her that, she would make him leave, never let him do anything for her again, she would hate him and the thought made his stomach twist. If he lied, he might save face for a while, but Twilight was smart, she would figure it out, and then she'd be all the more angry at him for lying. He considered just running away, escaping the whole ordeal, hiding away in a cave like the dragon he was. Alone, with nothing but his hoard and the reminder of what he'd done.

Applejack wouldn't lie. Neither would Rainbow Dash or any of the others, they were Twilight's friends and so was he. He felt an anxious resolve weight on his shoulders as he approached the vast door to their castle home, creaking it open and cringing at the sound. He swallowed and called out, "T-Twilight?"

Sorry for the delay. As you're applying for a Tier 1 cast character, please respond to this following prompt:

How can you make the character unique, interesting, and expand on them beyond what we've seen in FiM? What happens after the episode ends? That is a question cast players are asked to answer. For your RP prompt, please give us a short example of the character doing what they do best. Be as creative and detailed as possible, and play them how you would in a live, opening roleplay. Be sure to finish your prompt with an opening for another character to realistically reply.

Add your response to the bottom of your app sheet when it's completed. :)
