Especially if they're only ever going to be in one RP?

Me, I take one facet of my personality, think of a talent, then build the rest of the OC around that.

I do that because it makes characters easier to RP realistically and think about what they would really do, because I can relate to them better.

I recommend you get Paint.NET, because it has all the tools MS Paint has, but it's antialiased, which makes lines smoother. (It's also free.)

I have a foal named Inkblot. I'll describe her more in-depthly if I can join, because you said it may be a good idea to stop letting people in. However, I don't think you said anything about actually not letting any more people in.

Okay, I’ve made a couple of assumptions here.

Given it’s a flight ‘camp’ and not a flight ‘school’ I’ve assumed that there’s a communal hut of a kind where everyone has met up before being arranged into their groups. Not sure whether this is right or not, but from what I've read it seemed the most logical rather than just a small class room. I've also made the insinuation that there are a lot more foals at the camp then just our players. This leaves the door open to npcs and additional players later on.

You mentioned via pm you didn't want too many tutors. So instead I’ve brought Snowflake in as a team leader, more of an organizational and support position. Is all that okay with you Dino? If theres anything you’d like me to change then just yell ^_^

Lastly, I really really REALLY think we need to change the location of this to somewhere in the main rp area. There is just sooo much potential in this for expantion and it is a reall shame to leave it stuck in the private area.

For author, I suggest Pen Stroke. At the moment, I don't have any other suggestions, but I'll edit back when I think of some.

"It's OK." Inkblot said shyly, then turned to Hopesong. "I'm not that great at geography, can you tell me where Roughrider Ridge is?"

"Inkblot." the filly said with false cheer. "Who are you?" She nervously looked around, trying not to stare at Cloudius's wings. Boy, were they huge. "Where are you from?" she asked, trying to strike up a conversation. "You don't exactly sound like you're from Cloudsdale."

Try to show, not tell. It makes the bio more interesting and easier to read.

Also, it needs to be paragraphed. Fluffing out the bio wouldn't hurt too.

I also recommend changing her name- Vanessa is not pony-like. Try: Triple Scoop, Vanilla Swirl, Caramel Twist.

Inkblot groaned loudly. Here she was, at flight camp. Most pegasi looked forwards to flight camp so much they couldn't sleep the night before. Not Inkblot. Her mother kept forcing her into all kinds of physical activity- the list went on and on. Footraces, gymnastics, dancing, even martial arts, and now flight camp. Her mother had signed her up for it as soon as the advert appeared in the paper. She walked up to the front of the class. "Hi, everypony."she mumbled, then slunk away. Here comes the teasing, she thought to herself.

We've got a 2-week gap, FYI. The next episode isn't supposed to air until the 7th.

Think of it more as a summer camp in the sky, rather then a flight school. Lots of fun adventure activities and days out that happen to involve flying. Along with flight lessons campers can expect to learn about all sorts, such as sky-shelter building, cross contrary navigation and cloud sculpting.

I also noticed letters from Celestia always have the horseshoe on them, so the horseshoe is probably the letter C, as in Celestia and Canterlot, as it could be either.

I've been thinking hun, what about having different bands for different flying skill groups, like they do in Skiing?

Like, first time campers start off as 'Robins', then move on to 'Sparrows', 'Gulls' and finaly 'Eagles' (or what ever names we can think up for the difrent skill groups). There could even be a big campfire ceremony on the last evening where every pony gets awarded their camp badges for that year and a certificate or something, saying that they’ve passed that level of flight camp

Totally possible! That's what I was suggesting. But she can't be a flight instructor. As for manipulating the weather, unlike unicorns the caveat is that perytons only specialize in one kind of magic, so if it's Auroras, she won't be able to do anything with the weather. However, even if she's ground-based, she could do something with the weather such as making it snow or rain, but then she couldn't have the auroras, so you've got a few options available. Considering her name 'Rainchaser' she could be the sort of Peryton that helps make it rain to encourage food growth in a field. She could help attract errant clouds for Pegasi to use for creating storms. There's a few possibilities there.

Auroras could be made in a factory, potentially, but they typically occur as a result of the sun's radiation hitting the upper atmosphere in such a way that it causes the visible effect that we know . A peryton could be magical enough to affect the natural processes that would allow them to manipulate them in such a way that they can produce the aurora in a different way since many of the same factors would be present in Equestria. But the main issue here is that Perytons cannot fly. Since I assumed you wanted to make auroras an important part of the character, I wanted to give you some ideas of how it could still work as far as her magic was concerned, but the trick is making sure that perytons don't come off simply as deerish Alicorns.

I'm glad you are interested in playing a Peryton! However, there are some things that are established for Mane RP that unfortunately make this character as currently unplayable. Please see the lore on Perytons Here.

Firstly, Perytons cannot fly in Mane RP. The reason for this is that they have small, nearly vestigial wings. As such, they can't be part of a flight team, a flight instructor, or have anything to do with the weather. While they -can- glide, it is more on the nature of a flying squirrel, in regards that it requires heights and clear distances for any lengthy glide. This also means that they can't walk

on clouds or have anything to do with weather.

In regards to the magic, being able to create and manipulate Auroras is fine. But keep in mind that for a Peryton, magic isn't nearly as specific or controlled as a unicorn, so they would require a large amount of concentration, even to the point that she'd be unaware of her current surroundings if they were big and complex enough. Because an Aurora is a massive thing that can be seen for a large portion of the world around, it'd be a great strain on her. I would have to say she could make auroras of a specific color and very random shapes, or more specific shapes (But nothing so detailed as a picture...perhaps nothing more defined than ribbons or clouds of color) and would have to be fairly close by to make them happen, sort of like a Fireworks show.

However, this character could be played in Crossover RP if you chose!

I assumed auroras were created like rainbows- made in a factory then painted in the sky. Was I wrong?
